  1. here is a picture of my grandparents Harold and Mildred Eykamp taken in the 1940's in Oregon Illinois can you put a date, engine size, and manufacture on the motorcycle? good luck, mike
  2. i am getting new tires, and wanted to just be 100% sure before i pull the trigger, that MR90H-18 are infact the same as 120/90-18? also, is the MU90HT-16 the right rear? i've had dunlops and avons before, and i think i am going to try out the e3's on both front and back, assuming that is the right size. thanks in advance, guys!
  3. I got a quote today on new Metzlers for my '99 RSV. $140 for the front and $165 for the rear. Interestingly enough, the width of the rear is a 15, and the front is a 16. I've read quite a bit about many RSV riders switching to a more narrow front tire and wheel, but both my mechanic and my tire guy strongly advised against this due to the way the RSV is engineered compared to a similar size V-twin bike. Any comments about this from those who have made the move to a skinnier front wheel? I'd be interested in some feedback on this before I get the new rubber. Thanks!
  4. I'm looking for recommendations on a Bike Cover. It should be a name brand, waterproof, full size and pack up small for travel. The RSV is garage kept so heavy duty cover isn't required. Please include manufacturer, product name and size. Thanks Mover
  5. have a 2006 rsmv with voyager kit. have 8000 miles on bike need new rear tire. what size car tire will fit.
  6. A good deal on some DDR-PC 3200 184 pin memory chips? A couple of the 1 gig size should speed up the old desk top for a few more years.
  7. Hello, I'm getting close to a tire change and would like to change to the Dunlop E3's. I have stock size Stones ie: 150-80H-16 front and a 150-90H-15 rear. I do not find these sizes in the Dunlop E3 listing. What size are you E3 users using? Thanks!
  8. what size is the crash bar and what size highway pegs will fit it.
  9. Attached is a Microsoft Excel 2003 spreadsheet that can be used as an aid in selecting replacement valve shims. This should work for 1983 through 2009 models, I did not see any variances in the sizing charts in the service manuals. 1st sheet in file is in Metric format. 2nd sheet in file is in Inch format. I expanded upon the valve clearance charts that are in the service manuals to include the shims end in 2 and 8. The reason for this is that these shims can be reused in the bike if available. I don't believe you can buy the --2 and --8 sizes. Screen shot below shows cylinder 2 area. The only cells that are selectable are the "Shim in Now" & "Measured Clearance" data fields. The "Shim in Now" field will only accept valid shim sizes. There is a pull down menu for valid sizes or size can be keyed in. The only other value that is accepted as input is a zero. I included this to set chart to neutral setting. The "Measured Clearance" field has no error checking built in. Use millimeters on Metric sheet or inches on Inch sheet. The decimal point needs to be entered, the "mm" or "in" does not need to be entered. Below the "Measured Clearance" field is a calculated field for "Shim Needed". This field will display the correct shim size to set valve clearance to the high end of acceptable range. Next is "Expected Clearance" field. This is a calculated field to show what valve clearance should be with the shim size shown in "Shim Needed" field. Next is "2nd Choice Shim" field. This field will display the next larger size shim that will work. This shim may be selected due to "Shim Needed" is an odd size or not available. This shim will set valve clearance to the low end of acceptable range. Next is another "Expected Clearance" field. This is a calculated field to show what valve clearance should be with the shim size shown in "2nd Choice Shim" field. In the upper right hand example, the lower "Expected Clearance" field is highlighted in Red. This will happen when any of the calculated sizes fall outside of acceptable range. If value cannot be calculated the "Shim Needed" field will be blank and error will display in "Second Choice Shim" field. This will happen if an out of range clearance value is entered. The two right hand charts in screen shot do not have data entered in so there are errors shown. This should print out on 8 1/2" x 11" paper very readable. This is just an aid for shim selection. Verify Clearances if you use this after shims are installed. Gary http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af193/gdingy101/valvechartclip1.jpg 39118.xls

  11. Hi guys. I'm reading that a 165/80 is the prefered size for our bikes. Is this because it is basically the same as the stock tire or will nothing wider fit? I like the unidirectional tread patters available on several 185/65 tires and it's only a 5% difference. Has anyone ever tried a 175 or 185? thanx
  12. I am needing to buy an expensive cover for my RSV, can any one suggest a good one and the size I need. Thanks
  13. I am to short for my bike, 5'6", so what I am thinking is I only need about an inch more (watch it) leg or lower my bike. If I go with a c/t what size should I get to accomplish this? Or is there another option?
  14. I was thinking about getting a new windshield mine has some scratches on it. Can you all post some info on the best and where to get it for the best deal I want the same size as stock. Thanks
  15. What is the rear tire size for the Dunlop Elite 3?????? Is it different than the stock? I put the smaller e-3 on the front and I love it. Now it is time for the rear and I am trying to find one on-line (I have access to tire equipment). Thank you in advance, always great advice here. '03 Venture Wayne
  16. Hello all and as promised, I have returned with more pics of the 'finished' product. I'm pretty darn happy with the way she turned out. The paint looks really good and the final mounts are working out well too. And most importantly...I'm still well under budget: Fairing (ebay) $300+$45 shipping Aluminum Angle-Iron $35 (had to buy 8ft) Misc nuts and bolts $10 Paint $125 + two 12"Subs - decided to go with one color to keep things simple. As before...so what do ya all think (and please be gentle) Sorry about all the picture, thought more was better in this case...And, the "full size" links are generally 1.5meg images. Thanks for looking Ron Original Thread #30638 http://home.centurytel.net/malizia/RS/BatWingPics/Batwing20090328/Small/20090328_007.jpg Full Size http://home.centurytel.net/malizia/RS/BatWingPics/Batwing20090328/Small/20090328_009.jpg Full Size http://home.centurytel.net/malizia/RS/BatWingPics/Batwing20090328/Small/20090328_010.jpg Full Size http://home.centurytel.net/malizia/RS/BatWingPics/Batwing20090328/Small/20090328_011.jpg FullSize http://home.centurytel.net/malizia/RS/BatWingPics/Batwing20090328/Small/20090328_012.jpg Full Size http://home.centurytel.net/malizia/RS/BatWingPics/Batwing20090328/Small/20090328_013.jpg Gee, where's Waldo? 17. The screws holding on the Audio Control Head vibrated out. It's kind of hard to carry the Control Head into the parts store so, does anyone know off hand what size these are? Thanks, Mark
  18. There appears to be controversy about beaded seat covers. My wife would like to try one, and I will too. I note in some of the discussions that the beads will scratch the paint, so I want to make sure I get the right size. Has anyone bought a Bead Rider for an RSTD? What size? Dave
  19. 20. I've chopped up the photo so I can post some detail. Sorry about the sliceage. The original won't fit on here anywhere, but I'll be glad to send it to anyone who wants it. The image file is about ten megs in size.
  21. Somebody PLEASE find me some gauges this color in 1 1/2" size. They would go GREAT with the RSV dash. http://www.autometer.com/cat_gaugedetail.aspx?gid=2950&sid=16
  22. I have decided on buying Dunlop e3s for my 2006 RSTD midnight can anyone tell me the proper ordering numbers for the stock size tires ? Thanks
  23. I need the size of the 2 bolts that hold the back seat on. Tore the bike down to trailer it for our camping trip and forgot to put them in the bag with the other screws/parts etc (Stupid..Stupid..Stupid). Anyway I have gone to Home Depot here twice to find an appropriate bolt and both times I was wrong. I assume it is a metric size thread and it is not 7mm which I tried. Help would be GREATLY appreciated.... Yours truly The Idiot... :bang head:
  24. If anyone is interested......i have 3 shirts left and 8 patches..... i have a green xl a brown xl and a white xxxl- (not sure how we ended up with this 3x white left over as i didnt order any extra ones in that size. Maybe someone got the wrong size at the rally??) $12 plus shipping I also have 8 patches left........$5 plus shipping. Let me know if anyone wants them I also have the stuff that needs to be mailed out ready to go to post office tomorrow so be watching for those soon.
  25. Any one ever think of trying to put a peltier junction in a helmet for cooling? Or maybe put one (or more) in a vest? I know they are rigid and won't comform to any radius but I found some that are only 40mm sq. Sounds like a good size to put top center of a helmet. Ones on market now are pretty low current draw compared to ones I played with several years ago.
