  1. This is what eyewitness about size if monsters pee.
  2. It's nearly time to swap tires again. So far I haven't seen anything I can get real excited about. Bridgestone Exedra poor handling and short life, Dunlop light on construction and short life, Metzler 880 throws chunks, Commander II doesn't have our size, Avons have cracks and so on. So I have figured out there are no good tires only less bad. Bridgestone came out with the new Exedra Max last year. It has dual compound rubber and a high load rating. Has anyone tried these tires yet? They make both a 'b' size and a plain size (150/80-16 and a 150/80b-16). I assume the b is for belted. Can anyone suggest which would be better for the Venture and why? I am considering these even though they only come in black wall and I prefer white walls. Mike
  3. Pro Fix Stripped Threads The way I have always done stripped bolt holes is to install a HeliCoil. It is a thread replacement device that you drill out and tap the hole for the Helicoil to be installed. This lets you use the original size bolt. You can pick up a kit that will contain the Coil, Drill bit and tap. They are available at most Auto parts stores. If unsure what size you need take a bolt with you and match up. The link below is a site that gives good info on use and installation http://www.repairengineering.com/helicoil.html
  4. well the day after i sold my bike. my 80 year old aunt the only family left on my fathers side. had a problem breathing. after going down to the ER she was rushed to peoria . when after many tests and xrays . she was found to have a golf ball size tumor on one lung and a tennis size on on the other. they did a pet scan for the whole body. and she has cancer. they give her any where from 4 to 6 months. she has out lived 3 of her children. the oldest one is still alive and he,s in his early 60,s. i have two aunts left on my mothers side. one is in a home and has dementia? she forgets who i am and calls me sometimes by my dead brothers name. the other aunt has nothing to do with us. after we told her she should go see her sister. and that we where mad that she could not even bother to call or come to my brothers funeral 5 years ago.. las vegas and losing 12 grand was more important. so im sorry to say. i wont talk to her. looks like the family line is slowly going away. as for the hack family. i have a daughter. no children. so the hack family name kind of ends with me. im the last hack son. but i guess if my daughter has children some of the hack blood remains?
  5. Last Chance to place orders. The window will close Sunday night 22 May. Width Size 3 1/2 inch 5 3/4 inch 7 inch 9 inch If you need a very specific size up to 15 inch wide, they can be made to your specific size request. Sample pricing is a single 7 inch patch will cost less than $10 including shipping. The pricing will be much better, for so far we have over 50 patches on this order. After Sunday I will get the prices and then contact each person of their cost including shipping.
  6. The manufacturing process will begin next week, so you can still order. For sample pricing of a 7 in wide patch is $10.00 including shipping. The group order will be much less per patch. See attachment. There is new size that was requested 14 in wide. Anyone want to be included for a 14 in patch or any other size for the size is not an issue in the computer age we live in. Just Specify the size in # inches and 1/4 inches.
  7. i need to know alternate rear tire sizes. i have a MU90-16 78h , E3, on their now. what are my other size options?? i have about 5k on the E3, but will be , hopefully, taking some nice trips this summer. new Venom on front 3 months ago.
  8. Back in 01 when I bought my 02 RSMV you could buy little chrome spots (as I remember) and insert them into allen hex socket bolts to dress it up. Over the years some have disappeared and I went to look for them online and nothing comes up. Anyone have a link for these. I need them in the 5mm allen hex size and a couple in the 8mm size.
  9. I did a rookie thing and screwed up (I hope not big time). To make a long story short, What size tap should I use to clean the female starter threads out on the inside of the drive shaft that the Flywheel bolt screws into? And where can I get one? It looks like a M12 x 1.25 thread pitch. I've tried Sears, Harbor Frieght, Northern Tool and NAPA. None of the sets they sell have that particle size included in them.
  10. I need a right side storage compartment lid for my 84. I need the full size lid. Let me know, thanks, Ray
  11. I started this here because I know a lot aren't paying much attention to garage thread now. I got doors from Wayne Dalton. I can follow most instructions but these are tuff. The one thing I can't find is what size opening do I need to start my framing. Jambs and header I can handle but what size do I set them?? Jambs go flush with edge of block but how wide?? 8 ft doors but different type doors require different size openings to accommodate the hardware. I need width of opening in block and height to hang header. Can anybody prove how dumb I am?? www.dasma.com tech data sheet # 161 Connecting Garage Door Jambs to Building Framing.
  12. A friend of mine has a 1996 Kaw 800 Vulcan. Does anybody know what size CT his bike would use?
  13. I'm replacing rear tire on my 86 venture. That is going smoothly, however, I also want to replace the front tire as well and this is where I've run into a big fat... "HUH????". The front tire is a Bridgestone Spitfire touring and the only size I can see on it is listed as such: **** MR90-18 71H ***** again... HUH?????? what the heck is that? I've looked online and cant seem to find any such size. I'm Planning on going with the D404 Dunlop 140/90/16 on the rear from motorcycle superstore online as the $105 with free shipping seems to be the cheapest I can find. I'd like to put the matching Dubnlop on the front but am lost with this tire size issue. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jay
  14. for some reason my 83vr has a 130/90/16 rear tire on it... should i replace it with the stock size 140/90/16?? what are the advantages or disadvantages of the two. thanks
  15. I just changed the front tire on my 2000 RSV. It was not completely worn out, but it had a slight cupping if you looked closely. When in a steady state low speed turn, I got a little shake/wobble at the handlebars. I researched tire options on this site and decided to go with the MT90B16 "not recommended by Yamaha" option. I purchased the Dunlop Elite 3 in that size. Wow, freakin' wow. Shake is gone (cured by new tire, not necessarily the new size). But the improvement in feel is unfreakin' believable. I currently have a relatively new Dunlop 404 (less than 2K) in the stock size on the rear of the bike. I will put the matching Elite 3 on when it wears out. I know this is nothing new to the guys that have been on this site for a long time. But, if anyone is sitting on the fence about changing to a "not recommended" tire...I'm here to tell you.....JUMP!
  16. I participated in the neighborhood halloween parade last evening. Fire truck in front, costumed kids (maybe 50 of 'em) and some parents, then me at the rear with USA flag flowing, four-way-flashers going, and John Phillip Sousa marches in the stereo. When I arrived, I was a bit surprised to see another motorcycle already there. I recognized it right away as one that has been cruising the neighborhood with it's irritating, noisy, tinny sounding, small displacement wannabe, straight pipe exhaust sound. It's a kinda retro chopper style, low slung, and I've never been able to identify it as it cruised by. Seemed to be about 7/8 size of a full size motorcycle. RIDLEY! 750 V-twin, "AUTO GLIDE" transmission. I had never heard of 'em. Built them for a while (Oklahoma City I think), then went out of business, economy problems I guess. Sold everything to another company, VENTURE I think. They are rebuilding and selling certified used ones, no new ones available. They had one priced at over $16,000, 6 month warranty. http://www.ridleymotorcycle.com/ I don't think I'd want to spend $16,000 on something like that. You can get a Venture or RSTD with years of warranty left on it for that kind of money.
  17. I have an opportunity to purchase an 8x12 2010 enclosed trailer for $3k tomorrow. (distress sale, used once) Is this overkill on size to haul the Hannigan. What (I know, no one trailers their RSV) size trailer do you use?
  18. I'm trying to find out the socket size needed for the rear wheel axle nut on a 2nd gen. In the tech library I read a thread on removing the rear wheel that stated the size was 1 1/6 inch. Is this correct? With the front axle socket being a metric size (22mm) it seems the rear would be metric too. Just wanted to confirm before I go out and purchase the socket.
  19. I had a split in the leather covering on my saddlebag on my V Star 1300, that gave me a good excuse to go out and find some nice hardbags for it. I found them on E Bay, they are the same shape and almost the same size, but they wouldnt exactly fit the stock mounts so I had to use the supplied mounts. They even have lights already installed in them.
  20. Last Chance to place orders. The window will close Sunday night 22 May. Width Size 3 1/2 inch 5 3/4 inch 7 inch 9 inch 15.7 inch If you need a very specific size up to 15.7 inch wide, they can be made to your specific size request. Please place your orders here. Sample order. Star size & qty M/C size & qty Then your mailing address on 3 lines please and not all on a single line. name street address city, state zip If Canada then do appropiately After the order window closes then I will get the prices and notify each person. of their cost including shipping.
  21. ok, so without getting into the brand too much, what are the recommendations for front tire size? which vendor? if theres a deal, i may get the rear. so which size rear also? should i change the front bearing with it? not sure if its ever been changed. 32k
  22. I need to get new tire valves for my 02 RSMV. Does anyone know the size and vendor to get them from? I want 90 degree front and rear. I am going to mount the rear one facing the right side to make it easier to check and probably the same for the front. Thanks in advance!
  23. When I try to down load photos it won't let me because it says they are too large. Does this site have a feature that will allow me to down size them.
  24. Finally got to put my hitch on. I still will have to get me a couple of those chrome acorn head-nuts for the chrome bolts through the fender trim. I am going to also put some black silicone around the rear mud guard, where I cut it to install the hitch. But I think I will wait until I get done with the flag mount I am going to make for the hitch. I am thinking of using the flag mount hitch idea I got from someone here. I will get me a coupling stinger to go from the small size to the 2" size and also put an extra brake light into the end of the receiver from Wall-Mart ($12.00). I will mount my flag to the top of this and still have an open and easy to see brake light. I also designed those mud guards on my bike, and a good friend whom works with leather saddles and so on made them for me out of 1/4 inch thick leather. Just in case some one is wondering from the pictures. You see, I am following the rules... Fuzzy PS; Also included in these pictures is one of the copperhead snakes that myself and the rest of the mowing tractor crew (State Hwy Dept.) have killed this year. We have killed 4 so far. All of them from out on St Hwy 801 next to the Cave Run Lake area. If you visit this area, be very couscous around the ditch lines on the roadways. This is one of the mid size ones. There was one that was bigger than this one. We killed this one while slope mowing last week.
  25. Ok, summer is here. It hit 80 today. I bought a Scorpion textile jacket last fall and it does it's job well. I rode in temps down to 12 degrees with the liner in and it was warm enough at that temp. Take the liner out when it is between 40 and 70 degree range and that is great. But today........80! Not good! Been looking for a mesh jacket for a while for the upcoming hot days and there are a lot to choose from. Everytime I find something I think I would like it's not available in my size or sold out. I watch Motorcyclegear on a daily basis. I just want something that breathes and offers a fair amount of protection. Don't really need a rain liner as I carry a rain suit in the bag at all times. So I'm going to ask what are your comments on what you wear. That might help me narrow my search down a bit. Mike
