  1. I am getting ready for the winter months and buying ahead for some upgrades and fixing stuff that was done in one manner and after looking at it found a better way to do it. Anyways I have been digging through the different sites and catalogs and came across the McMaster-Carr site and I'm in connector heaven here. I found almost every type of connector, plug, socket and sleeving one could want and at the right price... cheap. I know this is a contractors catalog and some of you guys may have been using these guys for years but for the less informed on where to buy folks this is a great site. I was looking for the stainless bradded sleeving and found it in various sizes from 1/4 up to 1 1/2 for very reasonable prices ranging from 2.10 - 7.38 per ft. As far as the connectors go it looks like the sky is the limit here. They also carry those hard to find Stainless steel screws and bolts in English and Metric thread. http://www.mcmaster.com/
  2. I have to replace the cable that sits on top of the gas tank (CB/Headset cable). When installing the driving lights I noticed the cable was frayed so at the time I just tucked it up under the cover on the gas tank as I don't usually use the CB. Does anyone know what cable this is called as I have talked to the people at Pin Wall and they are not sure which cable I need. I noticed some call them intercom cables and some say it is a CB cable. They have a bunch listed on ebay. I would like to know which is the proper cable so I don't order the wrong one. Possibly someone on here could look at Pin Wall site or ebay site and send me a link or ebay number. Thanks in advance Dana
  3. This is a great web site for a guide of the best roads to ride in Ontario. Check it out @ www.noinfo.com/bikeroads/ :cool10:
  4. Help................... We need to raise a little more money for the Kids at St. Jude, I was given a hint as to how much NARR group has raised so far and we are going to fall short and loose the challenge, but thats not whats important, we want to make an impact on the research that goes on at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The kids are in need of all the help they can get to find a cure for this horrible affliction that strikes out at everyone, it knows no age limit, young, old it makes no difference. The research that goes on at St. Jude benefits everyone in the long run. If we can raise a little more money we will get the donation to St. Jude go over the $10,000 mark, that would be a combined total from both groups and that would be fantastic. We were told on one of our visits there that the average donation from a m/c group was $2,500.00. We can set a new standard! If you don't feel comfortable sending the donation to me, you can always make the donation to the hospital via the tribute site we have set up at the St. Jude web site. The link to that page is below. Remember we are going to make the donation in person at St. Jude in Memphis on Oct 1, 2011. You can make a donation at the tribute site any at any time. Its all about the Kids!!! Mean Dog Tribute __________________ St. Jude Benefit Ride Oct. 1, 2011 http://www.danasoft.com/sig/STJUDEBENEFITRIDE.jpg Follow up from B2Dad Come on people..... The time is getting close. I am sure a $1 or $2 won't break most of us. If everyone gave just a dollar, we could hit that $10,000 mark that Lewis spoke of! I personally will get this going again with a donation of $25. Who is with me??? Dig deep fellow VR members! And thanks! It's for the kids, ya know!
  5. The dealer meeting to introduce the 12's is wednesday the 14th. Wonder when they will be on the web site.
  6. Been out about 1-1/2 hr, not a cloud in the sky, 800# goes straight busy, and web site will not open.
  7. I hope the bike turns out to be decent . Im going to check out an 05 RSV tomorrow armed with some knowledge picked up from the folks on this site , hopefully Ill be able to figure out if its worthy or just a dud. Wish me luck !
  8. This web site may have already been mentioned on VR,,, but it's worth repeating. Just like there is a "gas buddy" site to tell you the gas prices in your area ( gasbuddy.com ) there is also a non commercial web site to help you locate gas stations that sell non-ethanol 100% gas. It's user updated, so, not necessarily guaranteed or certified. I happend to look the other day and found out the Shell just down the road from me has just started to carry it in 87 octane!!!! Green politics aside,,, my Venture runs a whole lot smoother and better mileage on 100 %GAS. The local guy actually put in a new pump/tank to carry it. His main island is still ethanol. He charges $0.10 more than ethanol 87, but that's okay by me. We have a lake in the area so it's good for the boaters too. If you go to web site, click on your state then look for your city (alpha). Update it yourself if you have worthy info. http://pure-gas.org/ Mike G
  9. When I try to down load photos it won't let me because it says they are too large. Does this site have a feature that will allow me to down size them.
  10. Well Don : We have disagreed with many issues on this site and I enjoyed sturring the pot If I didnt do it The site would be boring Anyways I would Like to Thank you and your website for fulfilling my Highschool Dream to tour along country sides of USA. My dream was to tour alone but not to ride along side with a group of respectable, generous and Kind hearted Members( Oh yah some odd ball individuals) I will never forget, The gift this site had given me and the hard work and donations From Brad and Lonna and other members that help. As you know it didnt felt right for me to keep it. I now have Health Issues (we wont talk about that ) My riding days are over with the recommendation of my doctors and myself I met alot of new friends and a few that didnt appreciate my comments from the open mined CANUCK It was great I had the opportunity to own several scoots with a low budget , I have had 13 scoots and the 3 scoots I have enjoyed the most was the 1st Gen , The FJR 1300 and The 1985 Honda Super Magna A Special Note To Brad and Lonna: All I can say is that The world would be in a better place today if there were more people like You two I will do my best to be on the site more It depends how I feel Thanks again E-Fishin-C
  11. Where is the relay located on a 2009 RSV. Mine has been replaced by a non self cancelling and I want to put the original back in. The service manuals on this site seem to indicate that it is under the rider seat? If so, it must be under the battery then? Thanks
  12. Are you lurking out there? Faith is a nice lady I met on the way to Vogel. Can't remember exactly where I was but I don't often know exactly where I am...Faith is a Venture owner that I gave site address to. Don't want to scare her off but seeing me didn't seem to upset her too much. She wanted to know what year my old wreck was.
  13. Normally after reading a post, upon refresh of browser that post is grayed out indicating has been read until a new post has been added. For the last couple of weeks, this greyout has only been happening speratically, typically after dropping off net then back on. This issue is only with my home PC, as still works fine at work. Ya, gota get on site every available chance:thumbsup: Using IE8/Vista. Appears some setting on my PC has changed. Not sure where to start. Suggestions? edit, started up firefox, and hove no problem, so issue is with IE8.
  14. I wish to thank each and every member who posted a Happy Birthday on my Facebook wall today! It just overwhelms me to think of just how many great friends I have made here at VR!!! How you guys knew is beyond me as the site B'Day list seems to skip me every year, not to mention that the site was down today! I love you guys!!!!!
  15. I am riding down Friday Aug 19 afternoon/evening depending on work and am looking to see if anyone has a camp site that they would like to share/split. I have an aspen classic and normally all state parks I have been in allow us to put two tent trailers or two tents on one site. If anyone has a site to share please let me know before I try to book a site next week. Thanks looking forward to meeting new friends and seeing old ones.

  17. A snippet from an email from my wife in response to another member's post in answer to a recent Q I had.... From: Nina Yerex [mailto:nyerex@guinnessbusiness.com] Sent: Monday, August 08, 2011 3:09 PM To: 'Rick Yerex' Subject: RE: a post from one of the guys on the venturerider site How would we ever manage without the Venture site? These people are wonderful!!! It always feels like a big family looking out for each other; how great is that these days!! I might just renew my membership and check in once in a while J
  18. After 12 years of making my Radiator grills I need a break from the fiberglass dust and paint fumes. With the heat we have been having the shop is like a oven and I'm not as young as I use to be. I will be heading to fl. this week to see the kids and relax alittle. I have blocked the order page on my web site using Paypal for now. I plan to start to remake them again the end of Aug. ( just need some clean air for awhile ) and yes I do use a resporator. See you all at Vogel
  19. A couple of my shipmates and I are trying to put together a reunion for our first ship which we commissioned and I was wondering if amongst the vast knowledge on this site anyone may have some advice. We have have a Facebook page and a website so we have at least started. http://www.facebook.com/pages/USS-Wasp-Plankowners-Reunion/241902085834515 http://sites.google.com/site/waspreunion/
  20. OK was just brain storming and was wondering if anyone is riding down to Vogel from the north like Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana or Michigan and would want to meet up in route and ride down together. Would love to meet up so let me know. Also I am camping and the site I have reserved at this point in time allows 2 tents so if anyone wants to share a site just let me know. If people are coming from north of me they can stay at the house and we can leave from here OR I will probably ride down towards the louisville area and spend the night then I can meet up with people. the next day. If you are riding down just throw out some ideas of a meeting place Rick
  21. Not sure if this is where this belongs, but I thought I'd post it up here. I recently installed an RSV seat on my 06 RSTD. It would have been much more difficult without the help of this site and a couple members. First off, I'd like to thank jemorrisonjr for being one of the first to PM me an offer help and parts. Great guy, if you haven't talked with him you should. I'd also like to thank Freebird for having such a good, informative site for Royal Stars. It's the best I've found. I'm not going to bore you with technical details, but the information I received here on doing this modification was spot-on and saved me some headaches. And the tech articles have on a couple modifications I've done. So I figured I'd post up a picture of my finished results. http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f353/KoolKwad400/IMG_0215.jpg So again, thank you so much for the help, thanks for this site, and thanks to the members who offered help or wrote technical threads. You've all been a great help. M
