  1. Installed my Utopia backrest yesterday evening. I have to say that it is comfortable and is well made. Reviews on this site prompted me to order it and that I'm happy that I did. Thanks
  2. My name is William Little, "WildBill1", and I want to extend a word of thanks to all the members on this site and how fortunate it is to be a part of such a talented and innovative group of people. Matt Strickland, "Foyerboy" gave me the opportunity to work on his 99 RSV recently--- without the vast amount of information from this site its doubtful this task could have been completed. I want to especially thank Kent, "V7Goose" for all his excellent Tech Threads and bike knowledge he so freely passes on to us. Thanks John, "Jlh3rd" for having the courage too toss that lame cassette player and replace it with useful gauges. David, "Ponch" you inspired us even more by flush mounting them with even more options. We miss you, "Ponch" hope your recovery is going good. Thanks to Don, "Freebird" for all the countless hours you must put into this site too keep it going and us happy.
  3. Computer still acting up. Getting out the door in couple hrs to go look for new system. Any Recommendations??Think we are going with New Dell. It was good for 8 yrs. I guess thats almost as old as I am for a computer. Goiung to Sam's, Staples, Best Buy and what ever and look today. And Kat I couldn't answer message Warden won't look at Refurb. Bad experience with Tom Tom she can't get over. Warden can get into Club site and a few things but can't access most. Can't answer messages. Weird. Just lets me do what it wants when it wants. And she is going to put this one in garage??? I got BIG TOOLS out there....
  4. Just posted on the events calander. We are planning a Finger Lakes Ride. Nothing fancy just show up and ride, with a few stops for site seeing, food and shopping. More info to follow.
  5. These guys would like to become sponsors of VentureRider.org You folks have no idea how many sponsors I turn down here. I have to be sold on the company and/or product before I will consider it because I want to only recommend great products and companies and I don't want to clutter this site with banners. I try to limit the number of banners to only a few at the upper right of our site and keep that number down so that each sponsors banners comes up often. That being said, what are your opinions on this windshield? http://www.baggershield.com/
  6. Hey Don, I just noticed an ad that appearred on the web site below the list of friends in the left hand column on the website. My question is: How are these ads generated? Are they approved by the website or do they appear automatically because of related content on the internet? The reason I ask is because the ad that drew my attention was titled Conyers Area Bike Dealer and was an ad for a business that I am familiar with and have had dealings with Rockdale Cycles and Racing. All Bad. I have posted on this site before about this business in detail and about the $1,400 rip off nightmare I had with them on my 87VR when I first owned my bike. This experience was before I found this site. I will say that the only good thing that resulted from that experience with Rockdale Cycles was that it set up a set of circumstances that eventually led me to discover this site, the best thing that has happened to me since acquiring my 87VR. Since joining this site and the resulting knowledge and help obtained on the 1st Gens from the knowledgable members of the VentureRiders.org, and because of that bad experience with Rockdale Cycles I have adopted a policy that no one works on my bike except me and trusted VR.org friends. In retrospect I know that had it not been for VR.org I would not have been able to afford to keep, ride, work on and maintain my 87VR. There is no way I could have afforded to pay a shop much less pay for Yamaha OEM parts for all of the work that I (with some help from others on this site) have done to my bike over the past ten years. Being able to work on the bike due to all of the helpful knowledge obtained from the members of this site. I say all of that to say this: The $12.00 per year membership dues is the best investment I have ever made in my 87VR. You can trust the advice, knowledge, experience and people involved with this site. If you too, saw the ad and were considering doing business with Rockdale Cycles, don't you will probably end up regretting it. They call them stealers instead of dealers for a reason. But, I quess I'm preaching to the choir. Suggestion for new forum: "What Not to do, things, places and people to avoid"
  7. Arrived yesterday. Weather was nice. Cooler than expected. Met a Canuk on a sweet RSV purchasedin January from a Sandy UT owner. I invited him to join the VR site. Ran into RogerII, Lori & Mark last night. Looking forward to seeing others.

  11. This video from Eau Claire, WI is on the St. Paul Pioneer Press web site. Watch out for roads buckling! http://www.twincities.com/wisconsin/ci_20998276/video-suv-flying-after-hitting-buckled-road-near Stay safe, Dave
  12. I'm looking at adding collision to my Venture. Whats a good site for replacement value for insurance purposes?
  13. I'm looking at purchasing the exhaust adapter for HD pipes. I was trying to search through ebay....under the store name "Hills" and found thousands listings....2 of which were the adapters. 1 has the plates and SS couplers. The other just the adapters and instructions etc. Problem is, they were both different sellers and not sure if either were Hills? I'd like to buy from site members if at all possible. I PM'd Hills a couple days ago but haven't heard anything back. The first was from ebay ID r-rebel2.....and can't recall the 2nd one. Thanks guys
  14. Friday night I synced the carburetors on the old girl and then Saturday I put a little over 100 miles on her. I seems to be running pretty good. I really enjoy riding it. I do hope the gas mileage gets better though. I’m only getting 27 mpg. I put new plugs in it when I first started working on it but I have run a lot of Seafoam through it. I may need to put new plugs in it again. I want to thank everyone on this site for their help. I know that I still have some work to do and will need more help, but I feel like, because of all the help I’ve gotten, the bike has come a long way. Does anyone have any ideas on how to improve my gas milage?
  15. TAPATALK not working on my phone for this site... Is it a problem with my phone, or are others having trouble too? It hasn't worked for about a week now.
  16. I finally got my new design on my web site for anyone interested. The site is a work in progress for now and I have more pictures to put up when I can. I have the Vertical 1 1/4" Stinger Flag Mount available now and also the regular Horizontal Mount, but in a different design. I am also in the progress of building the mounts to work with the Diamond R Hitch. Coming very soon. Thank you all for your orders so far and putting up with me doing this. I am trying to keep them as affordable as possible for all the PGR members and other groups. I will try to get them up here in the Members Vendors area ASAP. The prices will be the same as my web site. Note; These will not fit the Hitch Doc with the 1 1/8" stinger/receiver hitch. Also for now I can not find any 1 1/8" square tubing to build for the Hitch Doc Hitch. https://sites.google.com/site/flagpolestingermounts/ Thank you, James
  17. Hi.I am trying to put pics on the site and am not having any luck.I just got a new laptop. What is the best way to do this?
  18. am sure glad I did.... looking forward to getting to know every1 ...
  19. I completed part of my ride of the Tour of Honor to visit 7 memorial sites around Texas. I signed up for this ride back in Dec. The sites became available April 1st. Dave Zipcode and I attempted back on April 6th when he had his rear tire go flat on the way to the first site in Fredericksburg. Then he went down with his wife a week ago. Sure missed having him ride along, but glad he and Jamie are ok. I was planning to complete the ride of visiting all 7 sites in an Iron Butt Saddlesore 2000 in under 48hrs. The ride was good, turned Hot in North Texas, great weather, finished the required 4 sites in 1000 miles under the 24hr. Grabbed one more site north of Dallas at 12:30am. Headed for home, stopped for some rest along the way. Amazing you can fall alseep on the bike lying on the tank bag. By then I was up for over 24hrs. Got home after 27hrs on the road. Decided on not going to south Texas to grab the remaining 2 memorials. Needed to get some good rest. Was about 25 miles short of being able to submit the ride as a Bunburner 1500 in 36hrs. So I went for a short ride to get me over the #. Here are some pics of the memorial sites I visited.
  20. i wasa at the local honda shop today and a fellow venture rider and told him about this great site and was telling about the benifits of the leveling bars for his bike he seemed really interested inseeing this site and learning more, he was from paris ky and his first name is Montana, i think he'll be stopping by soon. steve:325:
  21. Went to dealer in New Castle Pa. today met a fellow going in for parts to fix his new to him 99 venture gave him web site address he sounded interested in looking here
  22. I had a nice 160 mile ride in the desert today. Stopped and had lunch then off again for a great ride. I had to stop at a rest area (you guys over 50 know what I mean) Well I’m Pretty much 50 miles from anywhere and go to put my kick stand down and the lowering loop broke off, weld snapped. Kind of tuff getting this old large man off the bike without a side stand and under stress needing to GO as bad as I had to. But I did it keeping the 900 pound beast steadied and bending down to put the stand out by hand. I thanked FREEBIRD for the center stand because it was nice to have a backup, Stopped and got gas and again it was a site to see with no one to help hold her steady, and then home in the garage. By this time I was getting to be pretty good at it. Thanking freebird again for that center stand because it is nice to have it there. For making this site and all the knowledgeable people here. So check your welds guys/gals .Now I have to see who will weld this one or find one……………Ron
  23. I recently bought a TomTom XXL 550T to upgrade from my first GPS. I had a good understanding of the the Nextar unit and had all my favorite locations entered. I figured it's a no brainer to punch the locations into the TomTom to build my favorites file. BUT the Quick Start book that comes with it is a lil lacking. :rotf: So I load up the TomTom Home site and figure I'll find an actual users manual that will give me detailed directions on the operations of my 550. Either I'm blind or I'm just not seeing it but having no luck. I've done my upgrades, made some mods and added some features so the home site has be useful for that. Pretty much just interested in building my favorites file, and naming them if possible. I did manage to get my home location set. Yea! (Like I've ever failed to find my way back.) Anybody have any info on how or where to find a manual on this thing? Lost.......... Mike
  24. Was woundering if Gold Wingers have a site like this? A friend i work with has a Gold Wing and was looking for some tips on tunning it and was looking for some help, was telling him about this wounderful site that the VENTURE RIDES have wanted to know if there was one for WINGERS as well were he could get some help. 25. BUT.... I can not put more then 3 Qts in the since it has been Triked... this is with a new filter as well. If I put 3.5 Qts in and start the bike and let it sit over night the oil is at the top LINE of the site glass. and then in return it will run out of my over flow vents at the bottom of my bike. As you can see in a previous post that I had made in the trike section with the oil all over my Diff from the spray back from the vent tubes. The trike looks level and all. and with the 3 Qts in there the oil is right at the middle on the site glass now. It is just stumping heck out of me.. bike runs great , but still it is only 3 qts, Think it will be OK this way? Thanks, Jeff
