  1. i got my brakes delinked yesterday . i should have got the line that gos from the bango up to the master cly. from you , the one from the Vmax is too short . i got to say " you the man " , with the rear brake line and front adapter sure made the job easier :clap2: Thom
  2. hi all just talked to kelly (wilsontamu83 ) about a short notice mx day at his place this coming saturday sept,19 about 9:00 am. we will be doing a carb synch and drive shaft lube on his bike maybe more. anyone else need some mx come on out. kelly will chime in here shortley with some details. best reguards don c.
  3. No, this is not an advertisement for Uni-go trailers. I bought one of these things last spring and I thougt I would pass on my observations. In short, I love it. Just returned from a six day trip with wife and full trailer, no baggage on the bike. Before we got the uni-go we would go on a trip with all the usual plus about 40 lbs of gear in the trunk and on the luggage rack, it was OK but, yes a little top heavy to say the least. I find that with all the luggage in the trailer the bike handles better, there is no noticeable handling differance with or with out the unigo and no top heavy bike. In short , although we can put all the luggage on the bike, I like hauling the trailer and an empty bike better. one just has to plan on where to park so you don't have to back up, otherwise you can't tell you are hauling it
  4. where can i get shorter sporty looking antennas?
  5. No 1 was running very badly the last few times I took her out so pulled the air cleaner off and chacked things out. the piston on #3 carb was not moving at all. after I opened things up I found the piston was apart. Should it come apart like this or should it be just one assembly Has this ever happened to anybody else Any ideas on how to glue it back together short of buying a new one
  6. This is not an easy thing for me to do, but I feel like it's necessary. I've already taken care of this with Yammer Dan. A couple of weeks ago there were some comments made in the forum regarding insurance. To keep it short, I took offense and got really mouthy. That's not normally like me. I was out of line and regret doing so. I just wanted to apologize to all of you. Won't happen again.
  7. I am in the later stage of planning trip to North Augusta SC in first week of August. Was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for camping spots. Have not completely figured out route, was hoping to say off interstates, but may have to yet for short time frame. Mapping program doesn't show towns very well. Thanks for any help. Daryl :cool10:
  8. My wife Shirley and I would like to thank Don and Ilene for their great hospitality and welcoming us into their home. This was our first maintenance day visit and it certainly will not be our last. Did I mention the food was fantastic, and kudos to the chessecakes. Great work ladies!!!! We only had a short ride in from the east side of Cleveland, and along the way, we met up with a group from Canada. A special thanks to Carl and Marca's group for allowing us to ride in with them. Thanks to a great bunch of guys, I was able to get a lot of useful information.
  9. Hi all: Is there anyone with the Diamond R Passenger Highway Pegs installed on their Second Gen Venture within 100 Miles of Virginia Beach? Honey would like to try them (maybe a short ride) prior to purchasing a set. Any help would be greatly appreciated .
  10. Just got finished with chatting with Clay18, he will be coming home for a 2 week leave in July. Told him we might be able to get a M&E&R together while he is in.........It was a short chat and I lost him, but he still hanging around, so if your interested just post here and I will keep everyone posted.
  11. Finally tried starting around 6 PM and no spark. Did a little troubleshooting and found no ground to the ignition module. Something must have gotten lost in the translation, so I added a ground to he line, and it started, but running very rough. Checked coil wires on right side, and looked OK but in reality they were switched. It would have seemed that the long plug would have gone tlo the short coil line, and vice versa, but Noooooo!! Switched them and it fired right up and ran great!! Wife came home, so I started it for her, and it ran a few seconds and died!! No spark again! Sooo, to make a long story short, I have 2 spare modules, one for an '83 and one for later models. Well, the one for the newer models ran for a short time, then started missing like crazy. So, tried the one for the '83 and it ran fine for a short time then died. Put the other one back in, still missing. Tried the '83 once more, it started, and is still running. Not real confident in things as of yet. Supposedly mine, being an '84, uses the newer style, but it's "Born On" date is actually 11/83, so I'll have to pull the one in it to see the model code that is in there. I also have a module in the '85 but I'm suspecting that is what's wrong with the '85 in the first place. Bottom line, we're caging it up to Carl's tomorrow, and I will have to see how things are before I try to make it to MD next weekend. May cage it there but hopefully we are riding here. Just gotta gain some confidence first! That and put all the plastic back on and get an inspection...
  12. I saw this first gen @ 7:25 PM, April 23, 2009 at the top of the 403 hill in Ancaster, downbound. I was in my cage. Does this look like you? Short video, but have a look. Do you know this person?
  13. I have a set of vance and hines pipes on it now i am looking for a short set of pipes that have a little style to them. The pipes i have now just have four pipes running straight back. I just want something that is short of the the cylinders. Having trouble finding them and what do you think my pipes are worth?
  14. Sitting at home do to short work week 32hr . Have work to do at home but it was 50 deg but raining I could not help going out in the garage and starting the bike and listen to the radio for a while. The temp is dropping and there talking snow again can't we just get a break if I have to be at home at least I could ride if the winter would end. Well sitting on her raised my spirits a little. Hope all are doing well spring is 21 days away.
  15. Like the connectors on a battery tender. Does anyone know which end (short or long) end is positive and which is negative? Thanks.
  16. Hey I'm new to VentureRider.org. I'm wondering if anyone has or if you can lower the whole bike or lower the seat. Leggs are so short I have dropped my bike twice. I've had 6 or 7 other bikes and never had the problem. The seat height was lower and I could touch the ground with two feet. Now one foot tip of toes. I have a 1986 Venture Royal. Big help needed.
  17. My Passing Light Spacer arrived today and I must say that Tony does really nice work! Now for the fun part... sorry to cut this short but I've got a small project to do!
  18. I found that the fuel line that goes from the fuel pump to the carbs. was crushed by the clip that holds the line back by the fuel pump when I was changing out the fuel filter. I tried to trace where this line goes, and followed it up the frame and then it disappeared under the battery box (which I have removed) and could not find the end of it. I would like to replace this line but can't figure where the other end is. Has anyone replaced this line? What's the trick to getting to it short of removing the engine? Why do they make this so hard?!?! I would be greatful for Any help or thoughts on this subject! Earl
  19. I'm replacing battery cables as per Squidly's specs on my '83. So far I've got the right side apart and most of the left. Hopefully i'll remember how to put it back together While I have all the trim off, anything I should look at, clean, replace or other. As Rooster said, it's a PITA and I don't care to do it too often. Second, the secondary wires coming of the battery terminals are pretty short, I am debating extending them, perhaps by putting a pull apart connector in it as opposed to straight wiring. Thoughts? Last, I have enough supplies to make another set. If you're intersted let me know. I accept credit cards. Thanks.
  20. Anyone have one of the 9" shorties that you don't like?? I'd like to have a shorter shield on mine.
  21. For all my friends in Eastern Canada and other areas of North America that are having real serious issues with the job layoffs and slowdowns in their jobs, keep in mind that we are still short of workers in Saskatchewan. If you want to come out here and look for work I invite you to stay here at my place for a few days while you look around. We are so short of workers that our Provincial government is sending another group of companies and bureaucrats and HR people to Ontario next month to try to recruit some of the workers hit by the auto sector layoffs and shutdowns. The StatsCan figures show November2008 jobless rate as still dropping from Oct2008.( I think it is well under 4% here in Regina) There is even talk of a charter plane to ferry workers to and from Ontario for the work week and back home for the weekend for some manufacturing and oil sectors. Here is a link to just one website set up for job postings http://www.saskjobs.ca , and if you want any info on anything about Saskatchewan or a company just call or email me i would be happy to try and fill you in. To everyone affected by the slow economy and a job shortage, my thoughts are with you. Brian
  22. Just a thought that occurs. One of the American tyre companies bought Avon a year or two back. I'm given to understand that it was because of their capacity for short order specialist runs. Maybe we should work out a specification for a square profile for a first gen and ask how much it would cost for a hundred - how many takers would we have ?
  23. We've all heard the one liners that go something like this..... "Her elevator doesn't go to the top floor" "He's a few bricks short of a full load" Just wondering what is the best one you've heard?
  24. I was wondering if anyone had a picture of a Venture with the Cee Bailey 7" Shield on it. I am looking to go SHORT for this summer because it got REALLY hot last summer riding behind "the movie screen" stock windshield. I am look at either going with the 7 or the 9 but wanted to see what it looked like on the scoot. I mean you see all the HD with the short shields and they look good. Since our scoots are better looking anyway I have a feeling the short shield will make it look even better. Thanks for the help y'all. RIDE SAFE TheKid
