Couldnt find any info on this. my seat is just way too uncomfoprtable after many attempts at repairing and adding foam. I found a nice pillow top electra glide seat that I have purchased . Waiting for it to arrive so I can modify it to fit.

The used 99 RSV I recently purchased had a back seat with it, but it wasn't attached. I'm not sure that it is the right seat and I'm hoping someone can give me some insight about a) the seat and b) how to mount it. This one has a rear bracket on it, but it won't reach the back mounting bolt because there is a fender-attached bracket that is raised off the fender about an inch and it gets in the way of this particular bracket reaching the back bolt. Do I have the wrong bracket? Does that make sense? I'm attaching photos of the seat and the back fender to help show the issue. Thanks! - Michael

I just picked up a 99 Venture and need a new seat for it. Would anyone know what years of seats would be compatible with a 99? I'm thinking the 99 to 04 are interchangeable but I'm not sure. Cheers D.W.

Granddaughter #3 arrived today about a week early, but she has all the right parts in all the right places, and is just beautiful. Shannon Margaret, born 7:10pm, 6lbs 2oz, 18 1/4 in. long. Can't wait to get her on the back seat of the RSV for a ride someday! Babies are the best thing in the world!!!

I have to admit, it was kind of a between quezy and exciting when I got settled on the seat, adjusted the mirrors and fired up the motor. My daughter was standing next to me as I took the helmet off the mirror and handed it to her. She asked "Are you sure you don't want to wear this?" I'm living on the edge today kiddo. I think I muttered "hoka key." I belive that means "It's a good day to die." I rolled backwards out of the driveway and dropped it into gear. When I make my first stop I went to move my feet and had no where to put them. Odd. As I made my left turn I banged my head on the side window. Damn! Should have worn the helmet. And what the hell it this thing digging into my butt? Seat belt? Haven't seen one of them in a while!! You see, it was the first time since March of this year I have been in a car. Even sitting in one as a passenger let alone behind the wheel. I've been on my bike every day since mid March no matter the weather or conditions. So for most the riders I know in my area think I'm nuts. A daily seven month riding season in Nebraska? Nobody does that anymore. And I'm not done. I hasn't snowed yet. LOL! But tomorrow will be the true test. I have to go to Walmart and wiggle my way through the parking lot in a 3,700 car and find a parking spot. Yikes! Maybe I'll wear the helmet for that. Now I need to find a car for my daughter. She "borrowed" it in March. Wish me luck. Mike

I recently picked up a 98 Royal Star Tour Classic and I'm unable to work the seat lock. I have an ignition key and a key that releases the fuel cap. Which key is used to release the seat lock? Neither key seem to go in very far. I sprayed a small amount of PB Blaster into the lock, but still no luck. Thank you, ~Jason

Got the turnsignal / flasher fixed and all back together. And everything works. Engine is warming up right now. Thank you all for the help. But I need some more help. This one bolt, I do not know where it came from. It fits a 12 mm socket. I took the headlight out to get to some of the electricial. I took the steering cover off. I took the Air Compressure unit out, with the fairing cover so I could remove the flasher switch. I took the 2 side covers off. I took the seat out, but it is now back on with the 2 seat bolts. Any ideas?

OK, Been riding an 06 tour deluxe with Mustang seat that had integrated backrest. Bought a Midnight Venture with a standard seat. Cant ride but an hour or so before I am really feeling the need to lean back. I like the way the Mustang was adjustable and laid down. What backrest do you have or prefer and why? :feedback: Thanks in advance all. Signed, Old Hurtin' Back

Good Morning Everyone, I took a 300 mile run this past weekend and somehow lost both of my front seat bolts. Anybody have a quick fix for this? Or do I need to get the OEM replacements! Thanks Frank

I was looking to lower the front of my bike, checked in the tech forum and found an older post that Freebird and 2Mike2 had posted back in 06, I would like to make a couple of helpful notes: After you have the fairing off be sure you have a good pad on the tank or you will make a couple of dimples as I did! They both mention this, after you have the Triple Tree removed, the top fork covers off and after loosening the 4 Allen screws take a crescent wrench and turn the upper fork tube at the air valve stem to about 9:00, or you will have to loosen and re-due everything as I did after I got the Triple Tree re-installed! I lowered my forks 1 1/8" and it made the valve stem too close to the handlebars to get a air hose on! I had put the Leveling Links on a year ago, it did help in the handling but I have a 29" inseam and was getting harder to handle in the parking lots and at some of the stops, I took the links off and re-installed the factory links, I also had Rick Butler do my seat, I'm now down to a 27" seat height, I put 10# of air in the back and 0# in the front, that would depend on your PP. I took a 250 mile ride yesterday, a lot of up and down and twisty corners, what a difference! The bike seems so much better balanced it's like night and day to me! Another quick note if you have a light bar be sure and be careful getting that back on, it's very easy to strip the threads, I had to re-tap mine!! Be sure and have lots of tools and a good memory. I've just pulled the trigger on the complete set, plus the passenger armrests. Should be here in a couple of days. I liked the reviews, and I like that it's Canadian made. When my wife finds out I've spent considerably more $ on a machine I justified purchasing on the savings in fuel costs, there may be blood in the water. Ah well. Maybe if I explain that the new seat and arm rests are to make it more comfortable for her to ride with me...

I had a chance to ride a friends new 2010 Goldwing this past weekend. A great bike for sure. Being 6'6" tall I found myself a bit crowded and wondered if the seat could be modified somewhat to move me up and back a few inches. Has anyone had experience with this? Can the seat be modified easily? I also wondered if the handlebars could be adjusted so they could be farther away? My wife really liked the Wing. We both noticed that the intercom/sound system to be superior to our RSV using our JM headsets. Wind buffeting also seemed to be less. Definately quieter and smoother. Fuel injection, ABS and heated seats and grips are also a huge plus. If I can sort out the leg room and handlebars this will be the RSV's replacement. JR

The driver of a minivan that was rear-ended by a motorcycle in Victorville, Calif., got all the way home before he realized the dazed biker had landed in his back seat, the Victorville Daily News reports. Karen Hunt, a spokeswoman for the San Bernardino County Sheriff's office, says officials call the incident "a non-injury collision with a twist." Hunt says officers initially feared the biker had gotten caught under the vehicle because callers who reported the accident didn't know where the rider was. Deputies say the driver had slowed to turn into his street when the crash occurred and proceeded for a half-block to his home. Calling out to his wife that he'd been rear-ended and needed to go back, he turned around to find the shocked biker in the back seat, the newspaper says. Hunt says the biker did not need any medical attention because the helmet sustained most of the impact. All he asked for was an icepack for one of his hands, the paper says.

Ok so what is the depth of the passenger seat on a 05 RSTD? From the tip of the passenger seat to the backrest? Thanks. Viragofan

The only thing I have left to do is get this dang trailer wired up before leaving for Cody. If anyone could pop the passenger seat off their bike and take a pic of their wiring it would sure help a bunch. I have a Motorvation trailer that has a 5 wire setup directly from the factory so I don't think I need any type of converter, and I do have the RSV wire color chart. Has anyone wired a 5 to 5 wire?? Another thing I'm runing into is the wire guage at the 6 way plug under the seat. Looks like 18ga on my '99, but yet when I get behind the brake light the wires are the more larger 14ga size. Yes, I did look behind the light just to see what was available. I just thought a pic would help me a bunch.... Any help would be appreciated.

Bought a Kumho powerstar and finally tore the bike down and placed CT on rear rim. Couldn't get it to take air so went to Halls tire. They sprayed with CRC and hit it with a tire seater(large volume of air in an extreemly short burst! well it partially seated. they to took it up to 70psi. still partial seat. they repeated this process several times bumping the pressure up to 80 psi until i finally said I'll 'take it home let it sit in the truck bed in this 95 deg heat and see it it seats. welp... it didn't I took tire back, they put some tire goo all around tire and rim and still only achieved a partial seat in numerous tries... 45 min worth of trying... finally concluded I did not want to get anyone hurt and it just wasn't worth it... My old motorcycle tire re-seated at 30 psi. Observations: 1. There is a raised lip on the innerside of the motorcycle rim. A car rim does not have this and in fact is rounded over. 2. Both MC and CT are 15 inches at widest part of inner tire. 3. A MC tire sidewall is thicker (3ply). 4. There is a different angle on the narrowest part of inner tire(sharper on the MC tire). Learned a long time ago if you find yourself swimming upstream and you aren't making any progress sometimes its best not to push it. Going to Cody next thursday and can bring tire along if anyone wants it for $50 Reason I was putting CT on, was I've only got 4-5/32nds tread left on front and back tires and didn't think I could ride out and back (+4000 miles) on the dunlop 404's as I already have 7800 mile on them. Last week I ordered a Dunlop E3 for front and will now have to order an E3 rear tire. Oh well... it's not going to get here in time, so, I believe I will trailer the RSV on my harbor freight trailer rated for 1200 lbs. towed behind the 2009 Toyota Corolla. I guess it isn't all bad as in this heat an AC will be much appreciated.
