  1. Looking for armrests for passenger seat on my Royal Star. gimai
  2. At our club bike night last night, a guy and his wife showed up on a 2001 RSV with pillow top seats. My wife noticed that the pillow top passenger seat is a good 4 to 6 inches wider than our stock 2000 seat. So... is it a wider seat base or is that just extra padding adding to the width? A wider seat base would give more support but extra padding at the sides doesn't look to me like it would make much of a difference in comfort as there would be little, if any, extra support. Anyone? Andy
  3. Looking for a tan seat that came on Millenium edition, 2nd gen (I think). If you run across one...let me know. I found one In Janesville Wi craigslist...but seller hasn't contacted back in a couple weeks. I'm really just looking for the tan color...non-fluffy, could be used corbin touring too. Thanks,
  4. I thought it was going to be Xmas today, as I was expecting a couple of packages from vendors, and indeed the packages did show up. Yeah for UPS ! Package # 1 contained my new Flanders bars, and my new upgraded high output stator, all from Rick at Buckeye Performance. I am planning on installing the upgraded stator sometime in August, because I have rides between now and then, and that way I have it on before I go on the Three Flags Classic. So today I went about installing the new Flanders bars, part # 650-08783. All went as expected, no issues, and while I did maintain the positioning of wires and hoses on the clutch side, as they were originally...I did reroute all the wires and hoses on the throttle side to be behind the triple tree. I also installed new Kury Iso-grips, in all black...without the weighted bar ends. I am happy with the installation, and in a short time I will get used to the newer longer bars, and the position they now put me in. I (believe) it will be a good thing, as I knew the OEM bars were too far forward. Package # 2 contained my new Ultimate seat for my '06 RSMTD. (drum roll please) Now folks, I have been around a long time, and as the name states...I have over a million miles on my butt. I knew when I took this seat out of the box that this was going to be a problem. I have owned over 25 motorcycles during the past 42 years of riding, and have had 9 saddles made by Russell Day-Long saddles. I am well known for being able to ride over 2,000 miles in 24 hours, so...I knew when I saw this seat that someone on the planet just surpassed Mike Corbin for making the worlds worst motorcycle seat. I went ahead and mounted the new seat on my bike. Sat on it...cursed a few times...got back off the bike...looked it all over...took several measurements...sat back on the seat again...cursed several more times...and decided to be a glutin for punishment and take the bike for a ride. After 100 miles, which was a waste of time, I knew I had to send this new seat back. The Ultimate seat website states that their seats are the same dimensions as the OEM seat, and positions the rider in the same place. That is not true. The "pocket" on this Ultimate seat is exactly 2" forward compared to the OEM seat. I felt like I was riding up on the tank. The quasi-back rest/butt rest at the back end of the seat is very much exaggerated in a forward position. I was hoping to TRY this seat on my ride next week to northern Calif., and if the seat worked, then I could cancel my appointment at Russell to have them build seat # 10 for me. I truly and honestly wanted this seat to work...because it would have saved me $ 300.00 off the cost of the Russell seat, when I include tarvel, motel, etc. Now, I know...there are different seats for different butts. And if you have an Ultimate seat...and you like it, that is great. I am happy for you. And if you have a Corbin seat, and also like it, I am happy for you too. But for me, the Ultimate seat now has the title of the worst seat in the world, followed closely by Corbin. There is a reason that 80 % of the bikes at the start of an IronButt Rally have a Russell saddle on them. I know that Terry and the folks at Russell can build a seat for me...in person...that will allow me to be comfortable riding 1500 mile days. I hate to spend the extra bucks, but in this case, you truly do get what you pay for. That new Ultimate seat that showed up at noon today, will be shipped out tomorrow morning...back to Florida.
  5. Just bought our first Venture. It is a 2004 Midnight. It still has the original studded seat. My wife is only 5' 2'' tall. The back rest is really uncomfortable for her. Any suggestions on padding for the area between the passenger seat and the backrest??
  6. I'm thinking about getting a Mustang Vintage Wide Regal Seat w/Drivers Backrest. Does any one here have one on they're bike and how do you like it?
  7. I finally decided to buy the Utopia Backrest for my 06, and it is a quality product to say the least. It adjusts backwards, forwards, and up and down. It has one engineering flaw in my humble opinion---the tube presses so hard into the passenger pillion that it actually distorts its shape. They provide a protective shield to keep it from tearing the seat, but it still distorts the shape. The comfort level is very good. My stock seat is still uncomfortable, but I am looking at a pad by Butt Buffer and Comfort Max. Anyone have either of those? Anyway, its another step towards more comfort on the longer rides. Jim:)
  8. Anyone know how I would cut the long tail part the bead seat.
  9. The seat covering on my 1st gen MK-II (unlike myself) has succumb to old age and is falling apart. So if anyone has or knows of a good condition dark brown seat or seat cover sitting around looking for a good home please let me know.
  10. My seat cover is in perfect condition EXCEPT for a split just forward of the seam where it meets the battery cover/false tank. Has anyone found a product to repair these?
  11. Need some input from the brethren here... I am fixing up Zipcodes '89 Suzuki VS750 Intruder, It needs the fuel petcock screen replaced. I have looked several places on the web, but haven't found just the screens, the petcock works fine. Does anyone know of a place to purchase just the screen, or am I going to have to morf something up While I'm at it, the seat needs to be recovered, any insight on where to just purchase a cover to put over the seat?
  12. I'm on the home stretch of my cross country ride. My '83 has run flawlessly. One major project for me to prepare for future rides is to either have my seat redone or look at aftermarket seats. I know the Corbins are nice but Its hard for me to think about sinking $700 into a seat. My question is, has anyone had they're seat recusioned and covered? How much did it cost you? My chunk of foam that I picked up in Lousiana is the only thing saving my bottom. Btw, I am still impressed with my bikes performance. New paint coming up soon. Maybe a dark brandy wine. Al
  13. My beloved Wifey does not like the current seat (Mustang) on my 2007 RSTD. I understand that the Ultimate Seat is, well, the ultimate. So, anyone care to weigh in on this?
  14. I have a Mustang seat on my 650 V-Star and have always loved it......I know Mustang has brought out a Venture seat....Who knows what?......Just rode home to Ohio from Thunder on the Beach in Panama City Beach....Need seat help for my 230 lb 64 y/o self!
  15. It was a pain in the rump, the old seat as my son said " It smells like its got 28 years worth of fart dust in it" when we tore the old torn one off. Progress , continuing progress. 84 VR 120k brought back from the dead.
  16. New Member here with a new to me 06 RSTD. WOW I love it.... but...my wife HATES the seat. I have seen many posts about different seats but wanted to know what other passengers think. I would love to install Venture Pillow Tops like so many have but cant find any available? Any for sale anywhere? Any advice? I would send whatever seats I get to Rick Buttler for his special treatment but need to know what passengers really like! Thanks in advance... Bob
  17. I'm still trying to convince my wife to ride to Vegas and back. I've sent my seat to Butler for the customization, and to lower my seat so I'm flat footed with the floorboards and to give her a little more height forward view. Planning on getting her an extra boost in the back seat also for more forward view. Right now she says her eyes are planted right in the center of the back of my helmet and she is always turning her head way left or way right. Getting neck strain in just a ride less than 60 minutes. Maybe a few books on CD. Stopping at upgraded overnight stays. A visit to our granddaughter both down and back. Also reshape the inners of her helmet to relieve stress points. Oh ya, having my machinist Goldwing buddy mill a set of passenger arm rests. Maybe I can find a coffee holder with Starbucks imprinted on it. A luggage rack for her suit case. Lastly a spending budget. There is just one more thing. If I could just figure out a way to gently lock her helmet in place with some flexibility. She has recalled back in our youthful days on my 80 Goldwing that she sometimes would like to take a nap. I think that would do the trick. So I'm engaging the group for some creative solutions for the helmet lock. Humorous solutions like getting a new wife isn't going to work. I love what I have and am afraid what I'd get on a trade in. I don't think I could out live the break in period. So put on your creative thinking hats.
  18. Can someone with a Corbin seat/backrest talk me through how to adjust the backrest fore/aft setting? I bought my RSV with the seat on and haven't figured it out just yet. Thanks in advance, Iz
  19. Looking to get a drivers backrest for my '83. Does anyone have one that they'd like to part with? I'm looking for one in black to match my current seat. Thanks~
  20. I purchsed the seat that Ed Rassmussen, pc009, had listed on the classifieds. I want to send out a public THANK YOU to Ed. The seat is fantastic. Doreen and i went for a short ride tonight and we both love it. The cloth seating area is very comfortable. It is even a slight bit larger and gived us each a little more room. I was afraid of driving the bike to work with the new seat since the only place to park it on a hard surface is under a very large pine tree. I was afraid of the needles and the sap falling on the cloth seat. It was difficlt enough to get the vinyl clean. But....while we were at a Menard's in Sioux Falls earlier today, I saw a cover designed for a power washer. I pulled it out of the box and it looked about the right size to fit the seat. Got it home and tried it on the bike and it fits!! It will cover from the front of the seat all the way over the trunk and rack. This was about half the price ($13.50) compared to one for a "motorcycle seat rain cover". Again, Thanks Ed, we will be enjoying the seat. Stay Safe, Dave
  21. Need a new or used seat for Don's '08 Venture. If used, needs to be in excellent condition. Anyone know where I can find one? thanks Patti
  22. Just going out to start my trailer wiring job thanks from advise from playboy (Vincent)and the harness from M61A1MECH (Steve) but I can't figure out how the rear seat comes off. I'm sure it's just a brain fart or maybe I need new glasses but anywho can someone point me in the right area. Thanks
  23. any body know where the fuse is for the acc plug under the left side of the seat mine not working probally fuse.......thanks
  24. ON my RSTD do I need to remove the rear wheel in order to remove the rear fender??? I'm all the way to the point of pulling it off - its completely loose - but these two mounts pictured under the frame where the seat attaches don't seem to allow enough room to lift the fender free. Help would be great.
  25. I want to replace my seat, and am impressed with the Ultimate. Trouble is, that means I have to replace the passenger seat and my wife is not one for change, she wants to know if anyone has any experience with the passenger seat. She finds no problem with the stock seat and says it is the right thickness ( GEEEZ) but other than width I can't find anything about how thick the dang thing is. I told her Ultimate offers a trial and her response was I know you need a new seat so if you are happy with yours that means I have to switch. Good grief anybody out there have any experience with the passenger seat?
