In need of the right saddlebag "cover" latch catch. I would think the rear from the left bag would work also. It must be the rear because the front and rear are different (why would you want to make them the same?). Thanks for any help.

I just listed a very nice set of Venture saddlebag liners by Bestem in the 2nd Generation secion of the Classifieds. Since I traded my 2006 Venture, I don't need these anymore. Tonight I broke one of the forward mounting bolts on my saddlebag trim rails...don't ask how!? It's the one that mounts into the crash bar by the passenger footrest. It's approx 2" long with a chromed hex head on it. Not sure the threading. I found they come included with the rails when ordering but can't find anything that tells me what that screw itself would be. Anyone know where I could get a part # and/or order a replacement? I'll try looking locally, but the small town hardware store more than likely won't have these so I'll end up paying more for shipping than for the bolt...but hey, gotta have one in the hole that's for sure! That is if I can find one! Thanks for the help...JR -

Hello all, I purchased a set of saddlebag guards and I was lining them up and noticed that there is a chrome plug where the guard's rear bolt would attach the guard to the chrome mount. Since I am less mechanically inclined then I care to admit, but without cash to have someone else do it, my question is do I have to take the chrome mounting off the bike to get the chrome plug out? So I did it - I stupidly neglected to latch my saddlebag lid. Somewhere in the 25 miles between home and work today it took flight. ARRRRGGGHHH Does anybody out there have one for sale? My bike has the brown / tan paint, with the lid being tan. Thanks, Jeremy -
Hey All: I went to have my annual inspection weekend before last and unlike last year I hung around till it was done. When they said its ready...I asked...Did you check everything...YES...They said...Everything good until next year?..YES...They said...Did you take the rear saddlebag off to check the rear pads...NO..They said....Why:confused24:..not....I said...WE use a mirror...OK...I said.... NOTE: Last year I left it to have the new WWW's put on along with the inspection.....and came back later in the week.... I came home last weekend...Pulled the Saddlebag....Pulled the Rear Pads....See what I found below with my pixs...Just finished put on EBC FA123HH sintered pads....I posted the pixs for two reasons; 1. to show how the pads can wear unevenly.....Really a design flaw I think...and 2. I was looking at the saddlebag trim rails on Yamaha's accessories page for an 08 RSV and they look different than most pics I have seen on this forum. I was looking at Freebirds thread on getting the rails to line up with the bottom of the bag and his looks different than the ones in the pic at Yamaha. Is there an aftermarket place to buy them from or did Yamaha change them?

I recently saw a used RSV at the local dealership, the previous owner had replaced the saddlebag mounting screws with screws that had knobs on the end, thus ending the need for the allen wrench everytime you want to remove and clean behind the bags. I haven't found them anywhere. Anybody got any suggestions? Trooper

I have an '06 RSTD, midnight version. I've been trying to honor the darkly menacing intent of the midnight scheme, and so have been limiting the chrome I add. At the same time, the single tail light seems insufficient, and I am considering adding more tail lights. I am considering adding the saddlebag guards I have seen in photos. The guards that protect the lower sides and back, attached to the stock front guard. I think I am not calling them the right thing, because I can't seem to find them, or if I have found them I don't recognize what they are called. My thought is that I would attach lights to the guards. I've seen LED bullet lights used, which would be fine for the purpose. I wonder if I can use the guards as cable chases? Could I replace the side reflectors with marker lights? What other additional tail light options are there? I'd appreciate your knowledge and ideas. Dave -
I have seen some photos of the 2nd generation Ventures with HD saddlebag top rails istalled. Has anyone here done that? If so, which HD rails work on the Venture? I don't care for the rails that Yamaha sells as they do not look as good as the HD rails style does to me. Can anyone help me on this one? Thanks in advance.

Right rear saddlebag on the 99 is broke. You can unlock it and push down on button but no tension on latch. It's not working the release. I can't unbolt it until after it's open. So how can I get it to release? I have a shop hammer close by but not that desperate yet.

Anyone know of a good 2003 Red & Gold saddlebag for sale? The dealer's price is outrageous and I've been looking on eBay without any luck. Also, who has the best prices on replacement parts like fenders, turn signal assemblies, etc? I'm also looking for the best discounts in accessories. Yup, someone decided to "customize" my bike last week. Thanks.

Hey guys (and Gals if applicable), I am going to pick up my new to me '99 RSV in a couple of weeks. I am buying it from a friend that let me use it one summer when he was busy. The question I have is this: I have a set each of the saddlebag liners from my Ultra Classic AND from my old 1500 Goldwing. Does anybody know if either of these bags will work acceptably in the RSV bags? Thanks very much – I enjoy the site and appreciate the willingness of others to share the wealth of their knowledge.

My six year old son is wanting to ride with me on the 2000 RSV and his legs are not long enough for his feet to reach the floorboards yet. Does anyone know of a bracket to make the floorboards raise up to the saddlebag lids?

I was rear-ended by someone in a car last week. The accident wasn't bad but there was damage. I called Progressive the following day and reported the accident. I also scheduled the claims adjuster to come over this week and look it over. Since talking to him initially I took a closer look at the damage and thought that it just wasn't worth having the insurance company get involved since I had a $1,000 deductible. The adjuster suggested he come over and look at it anyway just to make sure. When he got here he went over everything very carefully and professionally. He called me up today after getting prices on what needed to be repaired. His estimate was that there was almost $3,000 in damage. I'm glad he convinced me that he should look things over. Did you know that a saddlebag (new) is around $900 list? Ouch. If anyone sees a left 2003 (rasberry & sand) saddlebag on eBay, could you fire me an email?

Hey all went to take off left saddlebag today so that i may look at rear tire and change final drive for its new 600 mile change and i got three of bolts loose but the top back bolt striped when i went to loosen used a 4 metric hex head with flex ratchet so needless to say i can't get it to turn or remove . any ideas or suggestions, also pushed it in tight prior to trying to loosen, anyway not happy, three weeks old and this happens. thanks Brian d.

Hi folks, "Captain Inept" here. Been farting around with these new saddlebag lower rails and I just cannot seem to get them low enough so that they follow the bottom "line" of the bags. As soon as I start to tighten them :confused24:they raise up ..... tried adjusting the mounting bars as low as possible.. still no go! Any ideas, someone MUST of ran into this before? thanks

Greetings All & thanks for the warm reception. You might say I'm catching up fairly quickly. Last week I installed the "signal dynamics" brake light bar. This weekend I installed the luggage rack & the saddlebag guards. I didn't even try to fit them on (the saddlebag guards). I drilled a 3/8" hole in the upper corner just above the original one. Didn't even remove the protective plastic until I had drilled the new holes. Everything fit perfect using the inclosed hardware. (courtesy of this site) I ordered the clearview XXL with vent. Yesterday I was bored so I decided to split the fairing just for the "grins". While I was in there, I decided to do the cassette lobotomy (courtesy of the "other" site) and I ran a new dedicated cable for the ipod which now resides behind the cassette door. Today (Sunday) the weather cooperated & I was able to con MaMa into doing a lunch run. It was the first for her on the new wheels and the first trip over 15 miles. I got a brief glimpse of what this baby can do. Wow! Mama was very comfortable. The sound & the intercom worked well. Better than the "chatterbox" on the old wheels. Life is good. More later.
