  1. Bad Luck runs in Threes.... man I hope this is over with.... it all started last Wed... 1. Water Well went out, cure = $$$ 2. AC went out, need to change out entire (inside) part, Blower, coil, Heater..Cure = $$$ 3. PC Crashed, lost the OS, had to get all info pulled from HD, ended up buying a new Laptop and am slowly getting the old PC back up and running, Cure= BIG $$$$$ I am ready for this fun fest to be over with!!!
  2. May Get booed or even booted off the site. May be selling my venture because of my hands. I have moderately severe Carpel Tunnel in both hands. I had surgery in my left hand about 5 weeks ago and not much improvement. The bike is too heavy and I have almost dropped it on a number of occasions. It has the typical 1 gen second gear issue which I just go from 1st to 3rd. The bike runs strong, Idles great starts great and runs like a bat out of hell. It is leaking from the valve cover gaskets a bit. What would a fair asking price be for it?
  3. Is there anyone in NC that can preform a carbtune/adjustment? I am def wanting to help and learn how to do this but I dont have the tool that is needed. I would like to try to get this done this month or next because I am heading out to Sturgis on the 31 july. It is an 07 midnight and runs good i just think that it needs a tuneup. Is there anything i should look for to even know if it really needs one? Thanks for the help VR family. Robert 'TheKid'
  4. Well I got this bike used with 19,000 miles on it. I never felt it had the power in 4 and 5th gear that my 99 had. Now since I have the sidecar on it I thought that its just the extra weight and I'll live with it. The dealership I got it from wasn't any help. I decided to change out the #3 coil ( right rear ) since it seems to get the most heat and that is the one that most of you have had trouble with. I got a used set off of ebay and switched out #3 ( which is a pain if you have big hands ). Anyway the bike runs like it has never run before. It runs like a new bike with plenty of power. I can even put it in 5th at 50 without any lugging down. It seems like a bad design to put the rear coils where they did with all the heat and road dirt and water. They are going to send my old coil in for warrenty so I will at least have a new one if this one gives out. Much more fun to ride with all 4 cyl. working :dancefool::dancefool:
  5. When I down shift my cycle backfires at times. The choke is pushed in all the way and for a bike that is nine years old it runs great. Any suggestions on fixing this problem? I had never had any problems until now. Thanks

  7. Well after 7500 miles the Venture runs great, no thanks to Yamaha!!! at 600 miles I picked up a miss/ rough run/ pop on accl. After 4 visits to RMC Motorcycles in Renton WA. they finally listened to what I had been telling them and replaced the #1 coil. While this did make a marked improvement It was still not running at 100 0/0. This was after 9000 total miles and a 3500 mile 10 day trip with my brother on his HD. I don't have to tell you how embarrassing it was to barely be able to keep up with him when we we're climbing the mountain passes we rode. So about 4 weeks ago I went to the South Seattle Sports Plaza web site and ordered the #2,3,&4 coils, Two of them we're on back order Hummmm. Yamaha do you have a coil issue???? I installed the three remaining coils. My bike runs great like it did the first 600 miles that I drove it out of the Dealership. My mileage has now come back form mid 20's up to 35MPG on the first tank. So it only took 9900 miles and replacing all of the coils myself. RMC kept telling me that that's how they run. I called BS!!! I belive that the #4 coil was the rest of the problem but I figured that if I am going to have to replace one I want to replace all of them. If they were easier to get to I would have gone with one at a time. I dont have a way to secure my Lab scope and be able to watch the ignition pattern while riding to trace down the bad coil. Man this bike runs!!! its fun to ride again! I am going to step down from the soap box now. Thank you for allowing me to vent
  8. Engine just quit. Was running fine and then just died. Pushed it for a bit and tried to start it again, it finally started. Runs OK for now, but looking for any thing to check before it does it again. Thanks

  10. Paints on. Lights in. Waiting on 'Chrome' wheels to get here. Still have to wire it and rub out a couple little runs in clear. C'mon spring!

  14. I'm looking for a owners manual for a Toro S200 snowblower...I got two dropped off at the house and neither one runs...I thought I would ask here first as I know we have a few members that live in snow country.....Thanks
  15. Just a thought that occurs. One of the American tyre companies bought Avon a year or two back. I'm given to understand that it was because of their capacity for short order specialist runs. Maybe we should work out a specification for a square profile for a first gen and ask how much it would cost for a hundred - how many takers would we have ?
  16. I had to post and boast about the Volusiariders. I KNOW how generous our own group is and always will be, and I have the honor of saying that my other little family, in 2 days, provided enough funding to allow a Volusia payoff for a gentleman of ours that has been stricken with severe back pain and unable to work, going thru a couple of surgeries to correct the problems. He had his bike up for sale, but now he can keep it and we will be providing funding for medical bills as well. His bike was very special as his wife bought it for him for Christmas. When I think of all the poker runs, toy runs, memorial and educational runs we participate in, beyond our own private fundraisers...I think we should be able to hold our heads proudly and take our bike stuff off for taxes.   17. Looked at a 84 Venture today.Bike has some cracked plastic parts,wont charge but runs good.Tomorrow I call to buy or turn down the deal.
  18. The Mass air flow sensor on my work car, (93 Buick Century with 191k) Crapped out. $400. I ain't putting that in it if I don't have to. What do these things do? Unplugged it and it runs better than it did. Check Eng light on but runs geat. Will it hurt anything without it?? What does it do?? Old Buick is great old car uses no oil and runs good. Hate to part with it.

    Fuel Tank Reserve

    Does anyone know how much gas is left in the tank when it runs out of gas on the main and you switch to reserve?
  20. I have a stock '06 RSTD with K&N air filters and I just installed a set of BUB Sleepers. What a difference in throttle response and power! With this increased air flow, how do I know if I need to re-jet? The bike runs great, but I don't want to risk any damage to my bike. I'm sure some of you guys have had the same set up, what did you do? Thanks, David
  21. have 2 problems with a 89 venture royale first, when bike is cold everything works great, after about 15 minutes the bike starts to miss,if i take bike off the sidestand then it runs fine, seems okay if im driving also the gear indicators only work in 3rd gear after bike runs about 15 minutes just wondering if it could be a sidestand problem, neutral switch or both
  22. I finally bought me a carb sync tool and I can not wait to get it an see what kind of difference it makes in the gas milage on my ride. My 89 royale runs great but only gets 35 miles per gallon no matter what I do.

  24. Got carbs back on "Shady Lady" and had to use starting fluid to get her started. Would only run at idle with choke all the way on! Sat and scratched head for a hour or so, swapped out fuel pump and she runs!! Am I that stupid?? I had changed it before with one off a running bike. More I thought about it it just didn't seem to be getting fuel. No air box or anything on it but it runs!! At last a step in the right direction. Get it buttoned back up and enough plastic on her to take for trial. Want to see if 2nd gear is there. Get her on road and Color-Tune, Carb-Tune, (Mecury Sticks for me) Plastic glue and see what I've got. Problem is back to work and they called me today whining about being short and would I come in and help out?? NO!!! How long til Ashville???? "BROWN SUGAR" Don't need to worry. (YET)

I don't have a carb tune or colour tune "tool" but I am guessing that in my case just looking at my carbs while the bike is running I should be able to sync my carbs a little better than what they are now... Bike starts and runs great,, however she runs really really rich... So bad that the fumes of gas are unreal at various different times (decelerating, idling, etc..). On a weekend ride to NY State I averaged just 200 km's (120 miles) per tank full..!!!! Its cheaper for me to drive my car.... I feel that they are just so out of whack that I should be able to make some sort of improvement. So any opinions from you experts would be greatly appreciated as to whether it is worth my time to sync these carbs just by looking at them while running the bike, or should I wait and get them tuned properly.. ..:confused07:
