  1. I have a HP laptop running Vista home and it is having problems. It has recovery on the D: drive when I click on it it gives me a worning screen. How do I open/run it? Do I have to go to command prompt and run? Thanks Rod p.s. I have the win 7 upgradedidisk could I run that and not carry over my problems?
  2. My wife and I went to Henderson NV to watch our grand son play T ball. I have never had such a fun experience watching any baseball game, in my entire life. The little kids 4-5 years old were so fun to watch. Some were even shorter than the T ball post. No one struck out and no one walked. There was no score keeping and every player got to bat every inning. But of course there were only 5 or 6 kids per team. The infield was filled with the players and behind every player was a parent giving encouragement to their little champion to be. The little Babe Ruth wannabes would stand at home plate the official (from the city parks and recreation) would wind up and place the ball on top of the T the little slugger would give it his all and, most times, hit the T post. The ball would fall to the ground and the whole process would start over again. Once the ball was rocketed into the infield 4 little figures would rush to the ball only to fall on it and then fight over who got there first then all the future leaders of America would stand up and the ball still sitting in its sandy divot. Only for one of the parents to point out that the ball was still resting in the sand and suggest that one of them pick it up and throw it on to the first baseman, who wasn’t sure what it meant to be a first baseman nor what to do with the ball once it was in his possession. All the while the little slugger either walked, fell, wander or the really experienced veteran would actually run to first base only to meet his little teammate there on first base. With a little encouragement from the on field parent/coach the first player that was on first base would rocket on to second base or the pitcher’s mound maybe on to the big peoples second base which was about 20 feet further out toward center field. One little player would run from third base back to first base instead of home base. I guess he wanted to keep on running. Anyway, all in all it was the greatest sporting event I have personally ever witnessed.
  3. installed it on the right brake reservoir. I am wondering if others on here have installed the battery bug and how did you run the cable? Chris in Red Deer, Alberta
  4. I went on a poker run Saturday. It started out to be a very pretty day, left the house about 8am to run up to Rincon to pick up Donna. Got back here about 11, but the ride had left out about 30 minutes before we got signed up. Knowing how these things work, I figured we could take our time and catch the group by the 2nd or 3rd stop. So Heading for the first stop, a GSP goes flying by us. Then an ambulance. Started wondering. We come around a curve, and theres about 50 bikes, a couple firetrucks, 2 deputy cruisers, the GSP, and the ambulance. It turns out that one of the road guards, figured that he needed to get back to the front to play road guard again, instead of falling in at the back of the group. So he goes flying past the group, gets around half of them, and loses it. hit a tight curve around 80 mph on his Road King. Thank god the curve was a right hand curve or he would have taken out a half dozen other bikes with him. He went off the road, through about a 100 feet of tall grass before finding the trees. He did manage to get it slowed down to the point that he crushed his right leg, Now has a steel rod. And a severe concussion. Needless to say, his bike is toast. But he'll live to tell his story. So Anyways, after an hour delay, we did finish the ride, But this kinda took the fun element out of it for most of us. Roger is gonna be ok, If his wife Julie has her say, he'll never ride again. Anyhow about a 250 mile day. mid 80s, very nice day. Didn't even bother to stick around to see who won. Gave 50/50 tickets to one of the organizers and asked them to give the cash to Roger if I won. Liability only on his bike, he may be able to piece it back together. Depending on frame and forks.
  5. I was wondering how many Gen 1 Ventures are left out there? How many were sold over the production run until new style came along? Just curious ..... cheers, gary

  7. I hope someone can help me. I have a 2004 RSV and I need to wire my gps. I don't have a owners manual. I would like the gps to have power only while the key is "on". Where is the best place to run the wires. Thanks.
  8. I'm not a new member, but a first time poster. I have spent the last six months soaking up information from this forum but haven't run across this topic. I bought a 1999 venture in September. I like the bike very much, but something about it is driving me crazy. When I ride 70 mph I get 30 mpg. When I run 80-85 mph I get 40-42 mpg. I like 40-42 the best.It has aftermarket mufflers and the AIS is plugged. That's the extent of what I know about the bike. Synchronizing the carbs haven't made a difference. If I'm doing it correctly. Changed the plugs twice. I'm pretty sure I know how to do that. The bike seems to run smoother(no mirror vibration) at higher speeds(very little vibration) at slower speeds, but I have no problem with how it runs at slower speeds except for the millage. Suggestions greatly appreciated. The wifey is starting to have questions. This the the best forum I've ever belonged to. Thanks Richard
  9. I have a 2006 RSV with just over 12,000 miles. Purchased this last year and I'm the 3rd owner. Seems to run great and I don't have any complaints. I will admit that I'm not a gear head but can tell when something sounds different or is not right. Got the bike out 2 weeks ago and ran with no issues. Was able to get it out yesterday for a quick run. Noticed this morning that I have 2 drips from the bike. 1 from the first ride and 1 from yesterday. I looked under the bike and I see 4 hoses and I believe they are the carberator air intake. 2 of the hoses are dirty; 1 more so than the other. Have not tore into it yet as I'm hoping to get some help.
  10. Just wondering if anyone uses, an additive in there oil to help with the shifting? and/Or make the Engine run smoother?
  11. Not sure if it is a coincidence but this site seems to run a lot faster without those pesky sloooooow loads sometimes... HP p6736f...
  12. Does anyone know y i must have my choke on to get bike to run if i turn choke off it will stop runing:fingers-crossed-emo
  13. Just got finished putting a new set of Elite III's on the old 86 and did a good ride to break them in. Man they are a smooth, good handling tire!! One question, how much pressure do I need to run in them? I had Elite II's on it before and I ran the manual specs for two up (35 front / 40 rear). Should I run the Elite III's the same??? Thanks for the input.
  14. hey guys i found this tip but not able to contact the writer to see if it worked or not? " Overheating Solution Just want to pass a tip to Venture owners who have an overheating problem, especially in cities on hot days. I bought a 1983 Venture Royale which probably had two or three owners. One of them connected the t-fan to a manual switch which I thought was a good idea. But the temp needle would almost jump to red, even with the fan on. My problem is now solved. I took the tstat out and also found that the fan switch was incorrectly connected to the fan. Instead of bringing air to the engine it would run inversed and push the air through the radiator. Imagine! Now the needle never goes more than halfway on the temp gauge and with the fan on it will go down to just over 1/4. Please pass this message on the V-folks as it might help someone out with heating problems. Keep up the good work and thanks. Norman Rémillard " now my question is is it ok or not to run it without the thermo and do it this way, reason im looking and asking is,i live in st.pete florida always hot and in town stop and go traffic the gauge gets way up there 3/4 and a hair above if i sit to long with no real airflow,so i already have my fan switch hooked up so i can turn on for sure when needed, but what about it? no thermo make it run cooler or not? thnx in advance for any and all help. troy
  15. Thanks to chabicheka, I am reposting this as a new thread rather than a response to a two year old thread by E-Fishin-C: Can't believe it - it's been a couple of months since I last signed in here, so I got a whole lot of catching up to do. Anyway, I just had my last ride on my other Yamaha Venture (my snow sled) two days ago and put it to bed for the season in my shop at the cottage, not that far from Charlies. Good timing as yesterday was over 40 back here in Toronto (and warmer today), so I fired up my VR and went for a run on it yesterday. Yea - back in the saddle again and it feels good! One of my spring jobs now is to finish repainting my trailer for the VR and start planning for my trip with my wife to the west coast later this summer.
  16. My engine sounds real loud while its sitting on the stand, is there a way to make the engine run smoother?
  17. Does anyone know why all UK ventures are sold withont the neat hinge sticker so well photographed on the fronmt of the Clymer manual? I know you can order them for a silly price via Yamaha, just wondered if anyone has run there own up.
  18. I'm going to replace my laptop and it looks like it'll be Vista or windows 7 OS. My problem is that I HAVE to install Front Page 2003 on it to run a program. I can't seem to confirm that Front Page 2003 will run in Vista, been running on XP Pro
  19. Does anyone know why all UK ventures are sold without the neat hinge sticker (word venture) so well photographed on the front of the Clymer manual? I know you can order them for a silly price via Yamaha, just wondered if anyone has run there own up. Sorry if you've already read this, I think I put it in the wrong forum.
  20. I have an 89 Venture. I replaced the battery about 1 1/2 years ago. I have a Decka. Bike has been sitting in storage for about 1 1/2 months. Went to start it today battery was dead. Jumped it with car and it would run but when I took off the cables it died. restarted and let it run till it warmed up. removed cables and it would idle. When try to get the rpms up it started to sputter and tack would go all over the place and gauge would go towars the bottom. When let it idle every thing was fine. Is it because the battery is drained so much or is there other problems. This has never happened before. Bike has 100,000 miles on it. I plan on putting battery on charger in the morning and leaving it there till the afternoon. Thanks in advance
  21. I have been considering a GPS. I have read a number of threads this past year with various opinions as to what model to get. For budget reasons and because the boss isn't sure I need one I am looking at the lower priced ones. My question for those who have the lower priced ones is the audio loud enough to hear voice commands from the internal speaker or do you have a way to run it through the intercom? I run my MP3 player through the aux. jack by the cassette player. Your input is appreciated. Norm
  22. I have two questions concerning the Run For The Wall. First: How many have heard of Run For The Wall? Second: How many are going to go with me next year, 2011? Last year I only saw one Venture and about 4 Road Stars. This year there will be one less R* ,mine, and one more RSV, mine. It would be nice to see a whole contingent of Road Stars and Royal Stars. RFTW really is a great ride and the experiences are irreplaceable. All motorcycles are welcome as well as non-vets. For the west coast rider you will end up on the east coast just in time for the Maintenance Day in Oberlin. The web site is RFTW.ORG. Give it a look see and see if you can fit it into your schedule.
  23. I would like to find a PowerPack / Portable Power Supply that does not have an air compressor or the jumper cables. Is there such an animal? I need it to run my sleep machine when we camp and kayak. Anybody know if there is such a thing? Thanks, Ross
  24. Was wondering if i can wipe out hard drive in a dell and put in macbook soft ware to run like a macbook?? Anyone know if this is possiable?
  25. I'm not sure I have a fuel pump problem or not. I've had it down for a couple of days for some mods. Lowered the front forks and put in some Ponch gauges. I had the fairing completely off and back on. I started it and let it run to test the gauges and everything seemed to do just fine. I could hear the fuel pump run for a few seconds when I turned the ignition on. Now after I put the fairing back on and finished up with everything I turn the ignition on and there is no fuel pump sound. It still starts and runs but I don't get any pump sound. Now here's the question......What's wrong with it? One more thing I have an 94 Road Star and I took the fuel pump off of it, some time ago, does anyone ever run RSV's without fuel pumps on a permanent basis?
