  1. I just purchased a 1986 Venture Royale and it didn't come with headsets. Is there any out there still on the market? Or ideas to make something work?
  2. the antique motorcycle foundation is opening an exhibit in sept 2012 - aug 2013 in newburg,ny.....they are looking for motorcycles to exhibit.....among the list is 1983 venture royale.....it's called the Kaizen exhibit....
  3. My 1984 Venture Royale has a model designation of XVZ12, but I've noticed there are other letters like DKC2 or DL or KC2 so.... How do I figure out what my Royale is w/o a build sheet?
  4. I recently picked up 2 identical gold Venture 1200's for $1000. I was pretty excited with my purchase since only 1 thing that was wrong really caught my eye. Neither of them have the cruise control like my 85 1200 did. I was wondering if it would be possible to get the necessary parts from a newer venture, or even buy the royale star venture cruise to modify to work for my bike. I have a spare wiring harness that was designed for the CB but i do not know if it has the correct plug for the cruise control. Any information or if anyone has done this and could lend me some advice would be much appreciated!!! Thank you! -CJ
  5. Does anyone know what the napa part # for the gas filter for a 1983 venture royale
  6. First of all I just want to say hey! second I was wondering where would be the cheapest place to find a starter for a 84 venture royale? Mine is totally fried! had a low battery and fried the armature trying to start it. Oops!
  7. Hello i am new to the forums and it sucks that my first post is a problem. I can not seem to get my air ride to work on my 86 royale when I start the bike it comes on but then it goes to E4. Does anybody know what this could be?
  8. I'm starting to put together my winter project list, and one thing I would like to do is add rear speakers to my '91 Venture Royale 1300. A riding buddy has a Kawasaki Venture XII that has some sweet looking speakers mounted to the tour pack luggage rack. I'd like to do something like that, but I'm open to suggestions. TIA
  9. Was wondering if anyone has installed a chrome side lid protector of a Royale Star onto a Venture Royale?
  10. Hey All. Just purchased a 86 Venture Royale in pretty nice shape for a sweet price ($400.00 bones). I drove her home and knew the battery was questionable but i ran it dwn while messin with it? I cant even figure out how to get to the battery! Is there an easy way or is there any place on the bike to quickly jump the battery??? Tnx, RR
  11. Thinking about installing a Voyager Kit on a '91 Venture Royale. I can ride the bike just fine, but since I tip the scales at 150# soaking wet after a good meal, I have some trouble when the GF (who just happens to out weigh me a tad....) is aboard. My riding buddy has a Voyager Kit on his RS TD because he has bad legs, and he loves it. I've done some work on his bike, so I have a good idea of what's there, but I'd like to install the kit myself, so I would really like to know about any "gotchas" there might be. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Y'All ride safe...
  12. What important kinds of questions do I ask about a battery to determine if it would be what this group would approve of. 13. Hi Everyone, It has been over 10 years since I have had my last Venture Royale (85 I think it was). I don't know if it is just because the bike is as heavy as it is, the road suface, the speed, the age, etc. I recently got an 89 Venture Royale, at higher speeds (65 +) the bike just doesn't feel as stable and tight It is not a wobble, more like swooshi (if that's a word!) and loose. The tires are literally brand new (Dunlop 404's). I don't remember my last Venture riding like this, but like I said it has been a long time. I don't think there is anything wrong with it but I'm just not sure. Any thought or similar experiences would be appreciated. Thanks so much!
  14. Hi I just purchased a 1986 Yamaha Venture Royale 1300. Apparently the ex-owner had not screwed down the gas tank cover and it flew off. So need to replace it. The bike is beige. 1) Does anyone have a tank cover for sale (in beige would be perfect!) 2) Does a tank cover from a 1200 Venture Royale fit a 1300 Venture Royale? Thanks!
  15. My son returned from Afghanistan last week and is looking for a Sports bike (Fz6). Dropped into the Lumberton NC Yamaha dealership with him and struck up a conversation with the salesman. He says they have an "85 Venture Royale" in the back that needs a few carb parts. They took it on trade and it is just sitting there. I didn't see it but . . just saying . . . Lynn

    EZ-Steer

Does anyone out there know where I can get an EZ-Steer system for our 1989 Yamaha Venture Royale that I converted to a Trike? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  17. Been doing some research. It appears as though a vmax exhaust setup (prior to 2007) "should" fit into a venture royale, at least the headers should bolt up, since they used the venture royale engine in the vmax. It looks as though the exhaust is obviously more up swept then the venture royale 1300 exhaust. Has anybody ever attempted this feat.? They have some really nice vmax exhausts. Even if one were to buy vmax headers the number of aftermarket slip ons is way better than the venture royale's (a.k.a. NONE).
  18. dose any one have the long ROYALE emblen want to put it on the back of my little car
  19. Got back Sunday evening from a long weekend in Wellsboro, PA with my riding group, using my new (to me) 2000 RSV. I only managed to get the bike on Thursday afternoon and we were leaving Friday morning, so I didn't have much time to get acquainted, as it were. I was impressed by the looks and finish, especially in that gorgeous red paint with the extra chrome accents the previous owner had added. First impressions? The Royale has better weather protection but the RSV has a much more solid feeling front end. The fork may be flexing but I don't feel it whereas there was a looser feel to the Royale fork even with the Progressive springs. The RSV is heavier, but thanks to a lower cg, it feels lighter at parking lot speeds and while maneuvering around using leg power (Important to us 98 pound weaklings, you know!). The fork on the RSV does , of course, have a tendency to want to "flop" at low speeds due to the weight of the fairing but I'm getting used to that. I did appreciate the auxiliary plug in the tape deck so that we could use our MP3 player. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the trip and found the RSV to be quite comfortable, so it looks like we get to do more touring. Once I've got the Royale put back together, it will be going up for sale. It's a nice bike, but after sampling both, I definitely prefer the RSV (Oh God, here come the howls of outrage from the first gen camp!). One thing I did miss was the lack of bag liners for the RSV (The Royale didn't have any either.). While we did get everything packed away, getting it all into the motel room was a bit annoying. I found three companies advertising liners for the RSV...Star Yamaha Accessories ($79.99 for three pieces), Bestem USA ($65.95 for three pieces) and TLC Products ($89.99 for three pieces). I checked out J.C. Whitney and noted a review mentioning a problem with the suggested bag liners being a bit short in height (Hopnel liners) which left an empty space at the top of the saddlebags ($40.00 for 2 saddlebag liners and $34.99 for a Harley Tour Pak trunk liner (As suggested by someone on this site)). Has anyone had experience with any of these liners? I really would like to use something other than the assortment of bags we used this time. Anything that makes life easier for my honey means more touring time! Andy
  20. Hello everyone, I am the proud new owner of a 1983 Yamaha Venture Royale. I bought this bike from a co-worker that had ridden it up until about 10 months ago. It has since been sitting in his garage unused. He says that it was running kind of poor, so he did some 'fiddling around' with the carburetors, and then it wouldn't run at all. That's of course when he stopped riding it. It was no surprise that it would not run for me when I got it home. I decided to give the carburetors an overhaul. I completely dismantled them, soaked them in carb cleaning solution, blew out all the passageways, and replaced all gaskets, o-rings and damaged diaphrams. After re-assembly, I balanced them by sight on the workbench and got them back on the bike. I was relieved when the bike started, but after warming up, repeated attempts to take out the choke fail. It will run just fine with the choke on full up to 2500RPM or so. I read that these bikes don't like to run without the airbox, so I installed that and encounter the same problem. I have tried backing off the choke while very gradually increasing the idle via the idle adjuster, no luck. Any hint of throttle and this thing dies immediately. I know about the seafoam fix, but I would assume that since I thoroughly cleaned the carbs, I shouldn't need to use the stuff. Even if I missed a couple of the passageways I would expect it to run better than this. The only thing that I skimped on were the two rubber plugs at the bottom of each jet block. They were mostly hard, and probably not providing good seals. I couldn't find replacements for these, so I left them as-is. I haven't the slightest idea of why these are there in the first place. Could these be causing my problem? Any other ideas? I am by no means a mechanic, so I could be missing something obvious. Thanks for any help you can provide. -Dave
  21. I have a set of wing deflectors that came with this bike and have never seen before and was wondering if anybody has seen them on a 84 Venture Royale and where do they mount. Any help would be appreciated on this. Thanks in advance. Al
  22. Hey guys, I broke my headlight while I was fitting new driving lamps and an HID unit. Does anyone have a spare headlight for a 1986 Venture Royale? Thanks
  23. Hi All, I recently acquired a 1989 Venture Royale to add to my stable, and it has the stock CB that works fine. The controller head in the right fairing side does not have a PTT switch like the head that came in my 1983 VR, (and I am not using that one as it didn't have the cb base under the top of the fairing, just the controller in my 83 VR), and was wondering if they are compatible. I don't have the stock headsets, so I don't have the PTT that probably came on them, the rear passenger control has a PTT, but I want one too. Can I just swap out the controllers and thereby have the PTT on my right? I would not have the local /DX button on the 89 controller, but who needs it. I would rather have the PTT. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!!
  24. Does any body have a PDF of a 1984 Yamaha Venture Royale XVZ1200DL owners Manuel I could get a cop of please. Thanks
  25. 1987 Venture Royale 30-35K on it. Plastic in good shape. Compressor works but only when jumped with a hot lead (any ideas on this problem?) Picking it up Sunday. Co-worker selling it to me for a good price IMHO. Sat in garage for a lot of years but has been gone through and runs. 1 spark plug fouled out. Can't believe I'm actually considering buying this 1gen being a 2nd gen lover. Any idea what the value actually is via guesstament with info given? I haven't even seen it yet but his description is something I believe.
