  1. I know this has been covered many times before. I have a 2000 RSV that I want to wire for my trailer. I have a modulite that I tried to hook up per Freebirds article, but never got it to work. Got it off Ebay a good while back. Might be one of the bad one's that I hear about. The trailer is 100% LED. Do I have to run a modulite? Or, can I wire into the wiring behind the license plate. The trailer is a flat 4 wire LED kit I got from Harbor Freight. If I can tie directly into the wiring behind the license, will I be able to wire in a round 5 wire coming from the bike, and use a round adapter(pictured in attachment) that changes to a flat 4 wire to connect to the trailer? I already have the adapter and have hooked it to my pickup and the trailer works perfect. Brake lights, turn lights, etc. It is a six wire adapter to a 4 wire, looks like it will work on a 5 wire round hookup also. Thanks in advance for any help. Charles
  2. Just a reminder for those who ordered t's, jackets, and sweats....orders will be in my hands wednesday...if you placed an order and have not sent me your payment ...please do so as I like to pay for them when I recieve them.....I did recieve some of the sweat shirts yesterday, but because they are only partial orders ...I will hang on to them until they are complete.....and a big THANK YOU to the members who have purchased items.....all shirts and fleece jackets will be available year round so you can always order them, but like you, I like to ride when the weather is nice... so this is a perfect time to place an order...and don't forget CHRISTMAS IS COMMING.. and I need at least 2 weeks to fill an order...
  3. So I got my new fuel sending unit and went to install it and found that when I was trying to take my tank off, like I have done many times already, a head of one of the hex head bolt/screw that goes in the front of the tank has been rounded out. I don't know how it happend, when I put it back together last time I didn't notice any slop or anything but when I went to loosen it up, I just spun round and round. I have tried: 1) vice grips and pliers - nothing will grab onto that round head. 2) Easy-out/screw extractors (a few different types including the kind you drill into the screw and then back out and the kind that is supposed to grab onto the head and back it out) none worked - the head of the screw just didn't grab like it should. 3) take grinder and cut slots into the head suitable for a flat head screwdriver - did not work; as I try to use the screw driver to back the bolt out it just breaks the head up even more. I had thought about cutting the head of the bolt off completely and then try to maneuver the tank support out and over it (then I could get the bolt out because I would be able to grip it), but I don't think there is enough play in the tank to do that (as it would have to go ~1 inch to one side and it is just too tight of a fit). I am just plumb out of ideas - any thoughts would be appreciated.
  4. I purchased a used RSV which has a Clearview windshield installed. It has two or three round distortions in the windshield one of which is very close to my field of view. Does anyone else have these little round distortions in there Clearview windshields? I emailed Clearview about this issue and they have chosen not to reply to me. My Clearview windshield also has a terrible reflection off the gas cap that is very annoying. I can't see paying as much for a windshield as Clearview wants for that quality of windshield and such bad customer service. I'm looking at a Show Chrome tinted short windshield so I can look over it. For $81 it seems like a great buy. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. http://www.venturers.org/Forum/images/smiles/icon_cry.gif Harry
  5. Just got my bike back with new Dunlop Elite III's on it ('86 VR, had Dunlop Elite II's). First corner, the bike really leaned over, and surprised me. Then I figured it out..... My tires are round again. The tires I took off were on the bike when I bought it 3+ years ago, and I have put on about 10,000 miles in that time. They were 1996! tires, and I found a crack getting bigger on the back, so decided before going to the STAR event in Indy next weekend to get new tires. Those old tires, were like any old motorcycle tire, worn more in the middle than on the sides, thus they were kind of squared off! New tires are round and the bike wants to lean over sooner and easier. I also found I could hold my line better on sweepers. Love the new Elite III's so far, first new set of tires in many many years. (I didn't ride for 20+ years till I got this bike recently.)
  6. went for a 250ml test ride sun,39#air,bike is a little squirrly, from the rear feels like the side wall is flexing a lot more than the BFG,tire is a lot more round than the BFG,but don't feel as stable as the BFG,in the curvies, will rase the # to 42 for the next test
  7. My wife works at a local hospital. Told me this story friday. Man is in barber shop geting his hair cut. A beautiful girl comes in and he says " I could kill myself for you", pulls out a pistol, drops the clip and put the gun under his jaw and pulls the trigger. He forgot there was a round in the gun. Bullet went through his jaw into his head and through the barbers hand. He really impressed her!! Please if you attempt to impress anyone, TAKE THE ROUND OUT OF THE GUN!!! tew47

  12. One of my friends, who owns a tire dealership, has suggested that use the truing machine to round the edges of the car tire. He is going to trim 5/32 of tread from the edge and round 1/4 of the way toward the center. This will leave a flat area in the center and give the edges a round profile. He is convinced this will remove the cornering feeling many talk about. Will get this done sometime this week. Cruise On Gregg
  13. Just finished installing 2 new avon venoms stock size. I remember someone talking about what psi to put in the tires for the best all round performance but I can not find the post. Anybody lead me in the right direction. Thanks
  14. My friend who own a tire shop, has an idea which we are going to try. He believes that by using the truing machine to round the edges on a car tire that it will solve the cornering issues. he intends to cut 5/32 of the edge and round toward the center. will keep yall posted. Sorry posted in wrong area, someone moved it for after I changed it, read the next one up. Please read the other post with the same title. Cruise On Gregg:fingers-crossed-emo
  15. I been fighting Yellow Jackets. They have built in the wall beside the door way entrance to my camp. Determined not to let me in. Round one I hit them with some foaming spray the other night. I think they enjoyed it. Tonight I tried a different spray and was able to get about 1/2 a can up where I think the nest might be. Both nest I have found this year are above ground. The first one was in the hitch on my fifth wheel camper. So far the score is Yellow Jackets 1 and me nothing. I'll know more tomorrow evening. I might have to level that place a little sooner then expected. I could try the old fish on a string above a pan of dish water but I got a pesky raccoon that upsets all Mamamo's flower pots at night.I plan on camping Friday night got family reunion at the park beside the camp this weekend.
  16. well folks it's been a while since I have been on here. Had a bout of pneumonia and was in hospital for 3 days. Go Tue. for second round of chemo. Just ask for prayers for strength. Also go back to work tomorrow, probably half day. Just glad to be back here. Don H.
  17. So! It wasn't me after all..... We are back to normal speed here :thumbsup:good going Freebird:clap2:Sorry I started your last round of problems.....But I see the result may have been worth it. Thanks again!
  18. I just wired in a 6 fuse aux panel and the Stebel air horn. Man, that thing is loud. Carbon Ones bracket worked perfectly. I mounted the relay under the right side battery cover by doubleside taping it to the area just below that little round looking diode thingy. Fits in there real nice. Now that your all as excited as I am, I think ill go to bed.....
  19. Here I sit, in a hotel room in Dalton, GA (traveling for work), when I realize how stupid I really am! Let me explain. I returned home at lunchtime on Sunday and thought "Oh, I haven't used the bike ('03 RSV Midnight) in a while". So I thought that even thought it's still too cold to ride, I'd at least fire her up and maybe take her round the block. Well, as you've probably already guessed, the battery is flat and this is where the dumbness comes in - I realized that I don't even know where the battery is, let alone how to get to it to charge it!!! That's it - I'm ashamed.
  20. It's the opening day of deer season. Yamaha Kodiak 4x4 setting out front. I got my Rocky gortex boots, hot coffee in thermos,.223 WSM just begging for a round. Now if I can get those deer to cooperate. It's 5:00 am and I got potatoes and eggs on cooking. A country boy can survive. More later.
  21. I noticed there is not a full set of teeth running round the clutch pressure plate, is that right. Original has this. Anyone seen this ?
