  1. Another thing I want to do for my winter project is replace my worn-out driver foot pegs. I know you can find used ones occasionally on ebay, etc., but I would rather buy new aftermarket pegs than replace them with another 20+ year old set. So the question, does anybody make aftermarket pegs the will fit our bikes? Mine is an '86 VR. Thanks!
  2. It looks like my speedometer finally gave up the ghost. Anyone know what speedometers are compatible with an 84? I find everything from 83 to 91 but no 84s. I figure it would be easier to replace the whole instrument console than the speedometer itself but wanted to make sure everything would play well together before I buy a part from a different year. Thanks.
  3. Any one replace there speedo, where to start, cant seem to be abel to reach it up trough the fearing, what has to come off first ?
  4. Well Yamaha just announce the 2011 RSV on the Canadian and US sites and here is the BIG news..... They changed the color of the paint.....again.... And raised the price......again... I have just scheduled a test ride on a 2010 Goldwing for Monday...... gotta replace the 2007 RSV I just totaled as Yamaha did NOT use the 2nd gen VMax motor in the 2011 RSV :( :( :( :( :( Wish me luck at the Honda dealership.
  5. I am trying to bring 83 Venture back to life. I have pretty much done most of the major stuff but I have not figured out how to get into the dash to replace 3 bulbs. Is it necessary to remove the dash or can the bulbs be replaced without removing the dash. It seem like a lot of trouble to remove the dash.
  6. I let the bike fall in the drive (downhill) busted driving light (will visit dropped bike fund after finding parts)I need two bulbs and one housing. Hope to find parts and not replace the whole thing. Low on funds need to go the cheap route. Thanks for any help.
  7. I had to replace the # 3 throttle cable on my 86 Royale, and boy what a headache that turned out to be. Aside from the Stealership :mo money:taking almost 2 weeks to get the cable (last time I go there), it's not been an easy road since. First, after I replace the cabled, I can't get rid of all the freeplay. Has anyone else encountered this? I am thinking that the other 3 are stretched, and I'll have to replace all of them to get it back to normal. As well, the cruise control seems to have gone funky. When I set it, I slowly loose speed, it won't maintain. Those things I can deal with. The worst, and it's really my own doing, is now i have electronic interference in the headsets. I rechecked the routing of the harness, and the ground, but I can still "hear" the spark, and it's driving me crazy, as I went form crystal clear to this. :doh:Might my noise filer have gone? Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Good news is I finally got my hitch on (thanks Squid) & my new trailer pulls like a dream!!
  8. I finally found the speedo gear for the front axle and need to replace the old one. Are there any shortcuts? The bearings were replaced last year and I only want to get this different speedo gear in place to see if that fixes my speedometer and cruise problem. Thanks for any help. 1987 VR. Larry
  9. OK, here's one of the things I'm still looking for to detail out my '84. The two plastic caps that plug the recess in the top of the risers where the handlebars bolt in. I've never seen them on the bikes I've seen and just noticed the caps in the part breakdowns while looking to replace some other parts. Before I begin chasing in cyberspace to make sure they are still available (I found a couple that claim they are) I thought I might ask if anyone had an extra set laying around that needed a good home. Part# 26H-26133-00-00 Between those and my project to replace the tripmeter reset button I'm about there, I think, unless I find out something else is missing. LOL!

    Consensus

Were heading out tomorrow morning and I was wondering if I could get a consensus on a thought. I went out and bought 4 magnetic key holders and a souvenir to put in them. On our trip if we find a scenic view or a nice picnic area etc…we will hide the key holder on something metal and later post the coordinates on this site for someone from this group to find. They in turn, could take the souvenir, replace it with some other keepsake and put it back to be found again. The coordinates would only be on this site so it would probably be found by one of us. I will try to make it hard to find. The coordinates should get you within 10 feet or so. Metal and magnetic should make it easier to find but you might have to look under or behind, so it won’t be in plain view. There is the possibility someone finding it by accident but we could put a note in the case, asking them to please replace it, taking and replacing the keepsake if they wish. I think most would? Members could report a "no find", so others could skip the search at that spot. What do you think? Any suggestions are more than welcome. Sorry if this is already being done. I don’t want to step on anyone’s toes or steal someone else’s thunder.
  11. My rear shock just started leaking, 2000 rsv with about 20,000 miles on it. How long can i ride on it before I need to replace it? Cash flow is low.. And what's it going to cost to replace it?
  12. well went up to the shop today where my bike has been for a week to get brakes fixed i put $300 down as thats the shops starting policy on old bikes went in to look over the parts that he pulled off i like that he calls before doing any work and he then showed me how close i was at death!!! i bought used rotors from pinwall off of ebay front ones he said are great rear one had a crack in it hairline hard to see?? so we must replace that -------- cost $130 new caliper pistons are scored and needs a rebuild kit cost $90 bucks new all new hose cost $40 new and rubber?? for rear sorry dingy if you see this yours was getting to the point of going poof? he saw the welded res and said lets replace it someone messed up the top of it so it wasent sealing right. cost$45 new. so after going through it all and new yamaha parts plus labor cost will be over $800 bucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! im at a loss at what to do??? its sitting with all the rear stuff off. to fix this means no MD at dons and i so wanted to go. so all i can say is sorry guys and gals i wont see ya this year:crying:
  13. lost mine, whats my opitions about replacing it, do I have to replace the am-fm one too
  14. I'm not sure if I shorted something out or what, but when in Neutral the green light goes on, but the gear indicator still reads 1. Do I need to replace a fuse or something. Just a few days ago it would show N like it is supposed to. Thanks, Todd
  15. anybody have a 122.5 and 117.5 stock jets lying around they do not need, I could use them to replace the larger jets installed by a previous owner. thanks, R.T.
  16. OK, I've looked through http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=48542 but have a few questions. I just got my 89 and the leak from the front right is fork is getting worse and worse. I know I need to replace the seal, so where do I get that from? I found the thread with how to replace it, but I'm wondering if I should get Progressives as well? The CLASS system seems to function and hold air. If I do that what additional parts do I need? I can follow directions but don't understand what I need or how to do it on my own (if that makes any sense). Thanks in advance!
  17. With all the great knowledge on this site, I am sure some one here can answer my question. The clutch pulley gave out on my truck's AC compressor. With 278,000 miles on the original compressor, I figure better to just replace the compressor rather than put a new clutch pulley on. Warranty info on all the comps. I have looked at say that the accumulator and/or drier has to be replaced also. Up until the pulley gave out, the system blew nice and cold. Aside from warranty issue on the remaned compressor, will the system be compromised and likely to fail if I do not replace the other part(s)?
  18. hi I'm new here I have a 1986 venture Royale. I need to replace the diaphragms, any help on how to go about doing it would be appreciated. Thanx .
  19. I planning to replace my rear brake pad and was thinking about the carbon lorraine pads. Has anyone used these pads and what do you think of them.
  20. No no no, it isn't what you think - I don't owe Don $5 (or 10). I had 'the groan' for quite some time now. I tried lubing the shaft and dropping oil down the schrader valve to no avail. This morning I went out to the garage and there it was, a nice little puddle right in front of the rear tire - maybe 2 or 3 oz. So, I wiped its undercarriage down and got as much as I could off the floor (to try to avoid getting any oil on the tires when I pull out). Oddly enough, I don't really notice much of a difference in handling or ride - I can't wait to get a fresh one on there and go for a spin to see what I've been missing out on!! Now, the quest for a replacement and the same considerations that everyone has made that has had to replace it. I don't really want to give up the adjustability of the stock shock (or spend the money on a progressive one) but I also don't want to have to replace this s.o.b. again either. I guess I'm lucky enough that it happened now while I will be at home for a couple of weeks instead of out on the road somewhere. Anyways, thanks for listening to me complain. I'll pipe down now. :bawling:
  21. I am new to this forum and just wanted to send a blanket thanks for all the great help I have found. In the past month I have found info on this forum to complete the following work on my 2006 RSV; 1) De-tag my bike 2) Fix my sticking cruise control 3) Fixed the wobble by tightening the steerting head bearing 4) Replace the tips on my bub exhaust 5) Re-packed my baffles 6) Replace my front speakers with Polk db401 7) Added bass reducing capitors on the Polks 8) Fixed my radio by cleaning all electrical contacts with dieltrical grease. I think that is about it and all of these things I was able to do from information found from other memebers willing to share knowledge. Thanks to all!!
  22. I don't like the look of the storage pouches on my VR, but I'm having a hard time thinking of anything to replace them with. Has anybody here installed any kind of different storage compartment where the pouches are?
  23. What a eventful trip I had And no members near for assistance Will tell you members later But Now Question I dont like the BuB mufflers on it If I replace them with the original pipes is there anything I have to do with the Carbs
  24. It appears that at least one of the rubber boots the carbs sit on is cracked. Another one don't look to good. My question is where is the best place price wise to buy these things. If I got to take the carbs off again I'm going to replace them all. This is about four times in the last three years I've taken them off so I'm getting a little tired of this. I think some of you have repaired them but I think I just want to replace them. Thanks for the help, BOO
  25. I just spotted this on my local bike club forum. http://www.knoxvillebikerally.com They think it's to replace the Honda Hoot which was cancled last year due to the economy down turn.
