  1. Where could I get one of those? I have a new LED spinner tail light but it is red and doesn't show very well with the red lens. I was thinking of replacing it with a clear one. Thanks
  2. Traded our 00 (Big Red) for an 08 Black Cherry over Black.
  3. Were any of you at the Red River Rally? And if so what was the name of the photographer? We were riding out of town and saw his van but did not catch the website address. Thanks SS
  4. Just a few pics from the Red River Rally. I left my house on Friday, the 23rd, 91 degrees. It cooled off and by the time I got to Red River it was 31 degrees! Brrr!! Snow was caking on my windshield, sleet hitting me in the face...ahh...life is good at 9000 ft up in the northern New Mexico mountains! But by Sunday it was warming up quite a bit. Sunshine and about 65 to 70 degree temps in mid-afternoon. Nights were delightfully cool. Put about 1200 miles on the bike. Ran flawlessly. I'm ready for Sturgis now!
  5. Didn't want to do it, but I just dont have the room for two bikes, a car, a truck, and a trailer. So I posted 'Big Red' in the classifieds here and on Craig's List for the Dayton, OH section. There used to be a link to a program that would allow us to resize pictures for uploading, but I cannot find it. I would like to include some more recent pictures of the bike, but they are too large to upload. Does anyone have the link handy? Thanks.
  6. It's been my understanding that all the '83 1200TDK Royale's came in Gold, and the standard 1200TD's came in Red, plus a Black Midnight. That's what it also says for the colors in the tech section. Well guess what kimosabe?? I just bought a 1983 1200TDK in RED.... The born on date shows 10/83, but the serial number is a low DA000316. From the date I thought it might be possible to have a late '83 model that had received '84 clothing. But the serial number says it's the 216th Royale built? I like to play detective and figure things out by looking at the clues, but this thing has me stumped??? It's definately rare...
  7. Do red lenses exist for our turn signals? I don't want to make red turn signals. I want to use the lights for something else though, and would like red lenses. Are they available anywhere? I'm not finding them.

  9. Having my front tire replaced on my 99 venture by the dealer and reinstalling myself. Can anyone let me know what the torque specs are for the rotors and shaft. Screaming Red
  10. We should have the first batch of caps ready within two weeks. We will have the caps with the racing flames in red, white, and black. I will post when we have them available for shipment.
  11. For those who follow first aid changes; there has been some problems with the new recommendations on the Red Cross pages for the "lay person" as opposed to the professional rules for first responders. For the lay person the new thing is for only chest compressions for adults and 30-2 for children. Go to your local Red Cross for the latest info. The older you get the more you need first aid training. Rod
  12. 07 venture purchased new in oct.....want to add running /brake/turn to the rear....i see on this sight kits from cruisercustomizing....one from tri-star........so ..which is the better of the two as to hook-up, performance.....and, can you get red lenses for the signal lights or do you have to get red bulbs......
  13. Does any one know where I can purchase red turn signal lenses for the rear of an RSV? I want to purchase a run-stop-turn module and will be needing red lenses.I know I can get red LED's ,but don't want to use a load equalizer and I like the self canceling turn signals.I have seen them on other member's bikes on this forum, but can't seem to find them anywhere.I also thought about using the Harley accessory tail light, but don't know if they could be wired to also function as turn signals.Any help would be greatly appreciated, such as where to buy, part #s,etc.
  14. I am aware of the forum section that discusses the history of the Venture. It has a section for colors by year (link below). http://www.venturerider.org/modules.php?name=History#Colors%20by%20Year While the person credited for listing all the different variations is to be commended, I believe we need to take it a step further to include pictures of said colors. My reasoning is that some years came with multiple color combos, and in some cases, you cannot tell which color combo a particular V or VR has. For example, in 1987 it lists; 1987 brown DS/DT Copper Brown/ Birch Brown 1987 brown DS/DT Elegant Brown/ Imperial Brown among others, but several of us have not been able to distinguish between the color combos. So my proposal is to have fellow forum member post pictures of their bikes designating the color they have. Preferably, it will be based on paperwork they have on their bikes, or even better a color brochure of that particular model year. A good example would be the post below by mbrood which includes the 1986 brochure listing the different color bikes featured in it. The listed colors from year to year are as follows so far; 1200 1983 black TK Sparkle crimson ( single color ) 1983 red TK New Ruby Red/ Romanesque Crimson 1983 gold TDK Alluvial Gold/ Silky Gold 1984 gold DL/DK Alluvial Gold/ Silky Gold 1984 red L/KC2 Bright Cherry Red ( single color ) 1984 blue L/KC2 Orion Silver / Aurora Silver 1984 red DL/DK New Ruby Red /Romanesque Crimson 1985 brown DN Glorius Maxi Brown / Marshall Gold 1300 1986 gold DS/DT - - like 1200 gold - - 1986 brown DS/DT Copper Brown/ Birch Brown 1986 brown DS/DT Elegant Brown/ Imperial Brown 1986 black DS/DT Urushi Black/ Marshall Gold 1987 blue T ? 15. This one will be of particular interest to the Ontario members, and any ex-service members, like myself, out there. As most of you have probably heard, the "Red Fridays" group has succeeded in getting the Ontario government to re-designate the 172 Kms stretch of Hwy 401 between Canadian Forces Base Trenton and Toronto, as "The Highway of Heroes". As this is the route the bodies of our fallen soldiers take, upon repatriation to home and their families. On May 17th 2008, Red Fridays, the Ontario Government, and the Canadian Forces is holding a Repatriation Memorial and Rally in honour of the re-naming of this stretch of the highway. I've already signed up to ride in the event, and seeing as the scoot is RED, have signed up for one of the 70 "Lead Vehicle" positions, one position for each of our fallen to date. I'm posting this to bring this worth while event to other riders attention, and hoping others will join me in honouring our fallen, and to show our continued support for our troops and the sacrifises that they and their families are making. I've included the link for the event, and look forward to seeing many others out there in May. I'm also sure that any of our American riders that are interested would not be turned away, as the overall message of this event is "SUPPORT" for our troops, all the troops involved in the war on Terror. http://www.redfridays.ca/rdr/index.htm
  16. I had a customer come into the shop yesterday with a Harborfreight trailer I haven't seen before: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/photos/02500-02599/02575.gif The dimensions are almost identical to the standard, red powder-coated, 12" and 8" wheel kits: Bed dimensions: 40" x 50"; Weight capacity: 1400 lbs; Gross vehicle weight: 1618 lbs; Receiver size: 1-7/8"; Tongue level height: 14"; Overall dimensions: 87-1/2"L x 52-3/4"W x 22-3/4"H But there are a few differences: It's powder-coated in black and not in the tacky red The diamond plate covers are included There are two extra stringers toward the hitch, stabilizing the platformI guess with a few minor modifications, this would make a perfect cargo trailer. Just add a roof-top carrier box, remove the leafs down to the main spring leaf and flip the axle (easy done as it is set-up for 0º Camber and 0 toe-in). The fenders should still be in an acceptable position with moderate loading. I would also recommend replacing the supplied, Chinese bearings and seals with something more suitable for highway use, even with proper lubrication and maintenance the life expectancy seems rather short. Also, don't expect too much from the quality of the powder-coat. It still looks better then the red stuff but is by no means perfect. Here is the link, unfortunately it does no seem to be a store item, but a special order catalog or Internet item only: http://www.harborfreight.com:80/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=2575 This link will give you any idea about assembly: http://www.harborfreight.com/manuals/2000-2999/2575.pdf As of today the price of the trailer is listed as $249.99 plus overweight shipping, not sure if you have to pay shipping if you order it in a physical store. I actually got a shipping quote of around $60. Hope this helps, Klaus
  17. was out on my morning coffee run. still dark, approaching my all time favorite stoplight, where i have had several close calls from people running it, like real close.anyway the light turns yellow i stop, then red and a jerk in a van blows by me and runs it. blue flashes all over the place ,scares the hell out of me before i realize he got his picture took. :clap2::clap2:wanted to follow him and tell him, hey idiot, you just got a ticket. some times i just love to see big brother doing his job. :rotf:
  18. everyone is playing nice. So, will call it a night and hit the rack. Gotta make some room for the Fat man in the red suit to wander around the house. Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night. See you in the morning.
  19. In case you haven't heard, Mars will be draped in red tonite, followed an hour later by the full moon. Should rise in the SE sky. THis is the closest Mars will be for another 26 months, and tonite it is exactly in line with the earth and sun, allowing us to see it in red. Supposed to be seen by the necked eye! Mega Cool! Merry Christmas, Dan
  20. If you have a house full of kids and grandkids over for christmas. You might want to step outside late at night or just before dawn. The red planet Mars is quite a sight this month and should peak on the 24th. It should be quite viewable through early January. I wish I had got into astronomy as a kid but my 9 year old son gives me a second chance.
  21. Is there any site out there that compares the trike kits? I want to trike my SWing and so far we have 3 choices...instata trike...red dragon...danson... any comparisons out there?
  22. Not a bad buy it now price. Several miles left in this one.No I don't need it because my 84 is just like it. The Red ones are fast. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1984-yamaha-venture-jya41v000ea002050_W0QQitemZ260178226096QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item260178226096
  23. I'm in the middle of a frame change because of a broken frame. While i had the engine out i wanted to check the oil line o-ring. What i found was a good red o-ring. the rest of thr o-rings are of the red type including the pump line. What disturbes me is the red 0-ring i found in the oil pump pick up screen. It seems to be the same size as the one on the oil distribution line that gives trouble (as stated in another thread by RandyA). I am concerned thet i have blown one out somewhere else; but i can't imagine where it could have come from. I have looked in the manual; but i can't find another one that big. maybe i overlooked it??? Do any of you have any ideas? I have attatched picts of the o-ring. One picture is a comparison to the oil pump line and the oil distribution line o-rings. The larger o-ring is from the oil pump line. In addition to the other trash that i dug out of the screen, i found the steel ball th at is in the picture with the broken o-ring. i included a pict of the tip of a ball point pen for size comparrison. Any ideas what the ball may be?? I think i saw anotherone but could not find it. might have been mistaken or droped it. The bike had been hard shifting before i pulled the engine. (Klunky) and i have developed a knock at idle that goes away whith increased engine speed. These are the reason i checked the o-ring.
  24. Bought some ebay items to unfry my bike...hoping not to refry it. Clock and computer are dim with no red warning light. I have 12.59 volts at the battery and at the connectors for the clock and computer. The intensity does not change when the bike is started. I did not change out the ignition switch from the fire as it was black with soot, but seemed to function. I did not check resistance across the switch. I did not open up LCD to check any connector there because the clock was dim too. Where to go next? I did scrub the ground wire off the battery to the best of my abilities...same for the red connector. Thanks in advance, Tim
  25. i purchased a primered spoiler and took my bike into a paint shop to get the correct formula for painting my spoiler. colorite could get the paint but at a rediculously expensive price. i had it painted and it matches great with the rest of the bike. should anyone be interested here is the formula, what these numbers mean i'm not sure but a paint/body shop should know 855j light red 30.9 866j red violet 58.1 4530s flop control agent 80.7 805j jet black 93.6 1002s red pearl 97.3 62320f binder 204.8 62330f balancer 221.5 i hope it helps anyone who needs this
