  1. Looking for a radio controll module. The one under the front fairing. So if anyone is parting out a crashed bike or replacing their radio with something else please let me know.I saw pinwall had one for $300 was hoping to find one for less than that.
  2. I'm thinking about installing a new head unit in my venture. It already has an old aftermarket Vetter radio in it, but my question is, am I just going to have to cut a bigger hole in the cover for the new head unit to fit inside? I couldn't find any info on this. Does anyone have any experience doing this?
  3. Check this out. http://www.gooddeals18.com/c=DtXlpR9ETN1FNOJCxZYZ5OWyE/product/SHKCYCLERADIOKIT250/sale-250-watts-Motorcycle--yacht-2-speakers--amplifier--radio-pkg.html
  4. Has anyone had problems with their radio not producing sound. When I turn ther key on I hear like a pop and that is all i get. While it was still under warrenty the dealer fixed the volue control oN the handle bars. I checked the fuse. it is good so now I dont know what to do next. :Please help if you can.
  5. Does the radio display in my 1st gen Venture have a bcklight? Riding home in the dark the other night and could not see the buttons. The LED display is visable and the green power can be seen but nothing else. The CLASS controller has a backlight so I would think the radio should be also. Just wanted to know before taking it apart.
  6. ok guys, a little help here please! I turn my radio on with the remote on left handlebar, start listening to favorite tunes, everything going ok, and then about in 10 mins or so the remote starts jumping from setting to setting by itself. It will go to the bass, treble, fade settings back to aux then sp/headphones etc. Cant figure it out.Is it the remote or the radio? Anyone else have this problem? HELP!!!!!! OH 2002 ROYAL STAR VENTURE.
  7. I own an '88 V.R. with 61K miles. Everything works properly except the factory AM/FM radio. Turn the radio on & you can hear static like it's not on station, but it's digital. Ride a while and the station may come on for a few miles clearly then it's back to static. C.B. and tape deck sound great throught the factory speakers and the intercom system works. It has one antenna with a splitter or balun under the C.B. I've checked the coax from the antenna all the way back to the radio and everything's connected. I left the radio on while I was tracing the coax connections in case I found a poor connection but it never changed from static. It sounds like the tuner's off station, but why would it kick in and out? Has anyone experienced this? Thanks!!
  8. Ok, picked up the bike after my 600 mile service. Ended up riding in the rain and had my helmet on, my intercom or radio was squeeling off and on in my helmet. I have ridden in the rain before and it didn't do that. When I stopped and switched to speaker speakers sounded ok but it was still squeeling in the helmet . I unplugged and plugged into the rear, no squeel. Tried my wife's dry helmet and ended up with the same result.
  9. So I have cleaned all the contacts and connectors on the audio system on my 1st gen and the radio plays only from the left speaker. Since the tape player is non-functional I'm not able to isolate this to just the tuner. What is strange is that when you power on the radio you can hear a "thump" from the right speaker. Because of this, I am suspecting either a bad right channel on the tuner or perhaps a bad wire from the tuner to the amp. I don't have a headset so I have not been able to test that circut to see if the problem is isolated to the speaker. Has anyone else experienced this and did you find a resolution? Can anyone offer me more advice on troubleshooting?
  10. Greetings all. On my last big trip in April this year I had cause (need) to replace my mobile phone. Ended up with a Nokia N8-00, and boy is it a beauty. By playing around with it I have discovered a number of remarkable features, the least of which is that it has a standard 3mm audio jack outlet. To cut to the chase - if I run the phone through the auxiliary of the RSV and programme my phone, I can use it as a hands-free phone whilst riding (or stationary). It has 16GB of memory and I have loaded 1,520 mp3 music files onto it and I play that also through the audio out. I keep the phone charged using a standard Nokia 12V charger. I also have an internet radio application on the phone through which I can listen to thousands of radio stations from around the world - all whilst riding. If a phone call, text message or email come in the radio volume dies out for about ten seconds so the relevant alert tone can be heard. If it's a phone call I have auto answer and the music is auto-muted. The phone is mounted to the bars of the bike with a secure holder and I have a three-way 12V + USB outlet mounted to the top of my front brake master cylinder. Through that outlet I also run my GPS and the USB is handy for charging my 8GB MP4 player that I also use for music. Surely no need for a CD player or tape deck.
  11. I am trying to run my satellite radio and Garmin GPS off my aux. plug. I purchased a single to double plug but when i connect the GPS the radio's volume goes down to almost zero. I bought a "boostaroo" from Radio Shack which cures the radio problem but now the intereference from engine or ignition is also boosted to the point that the static is untolerable. Any suggestions?
  12. I PM'ed Condor about a spark related issue and I posed the question to him as to why it is necessary to have a resistor sparkplug cap and a resistor sparkplug. Answer me this question, aren't resistor plugs primarily used to supress electric pulses from interfering with a radio? Yes ,Ventures do have a radio, but isn't the primary reason for owning a motorcycle to ride it and not listen to the c@#p on a radio. Any comments, suggestions, and/or helpful advice? Condor mentioned that he thought that VGoose had posted on this subject at one time. Soooo..... Thanks all
  13. Proud owner of a 2006 RSV... completely screwed up and left key in "aux" mode... came back to find a flat battery... recharge was successful, however, my radio module is now not working at all. I have taken off the tupperware and checked and replaced the blade-type fuse, no help. REALLY like the audio on my RSV... and its out of warranty now... Any ideas? Thanks!
  14. Just wondering if I posted this subject in the wrong forum, since there have been no replies to it, so I will repost it in this section. I'm still interested if someone has the answer. 15. Here's an odd one. Bike is on the side stand. Turn the radio on, works fine. When I take the weight off the kickstand, while leaving it down, the radio cuts out. Put the bike back on the kickstand, radio works fine. I have put washers under the blue connecters thinking maybe that was it but that did not help. If I try the radio while riding it cuts in and out.
  16. I have a 06 RSV (out of warranty)with the notorious Clarion radio / cb unit. In the past I had trouble with radio freeze which has been mentioned on this forum numerous times. I finally performed the fix recommended on here by disconnecting all radio plug connections, cleaning with contact cleaner and applying dielectic grease. Eveerything seemed to work fine from that point on until recently. When I key the TX lever I do not see the red light appear on the controller indicating you are transmitting. This was confirmed by my ridding buddie who has a J&M CB on his bike. I thought it was odd that I had not heard the large number of truckers lateley talking trash back and forth. All other functions of the radio appear to be working fine. Does anyone have experience with this type of problem? I really need the CB to communicate with riding partner. Just do not want to spend the big bucks for a used unit from Pinwheel if it is a reasonable fix.
  17. when I had my wing I could listen to the radio on speakers and cb on headsets. It looks like this can't be done on the venture. it's either speakers all the way or headsets. I like my radio on speakers and cb thru headsets. am I missing something or is this just the way it is. thanks
  18. I am a new guy to the site. I have a 1983 venture that I would like to put a radio in. Had a friend find me a stock radio with intercom to install. Now what else do I need? Radio looks like it was just unplugged from the motorcycle it came off of. No wires or anything. Thanks. Kirk
  19. Im just kicking around the idea of removing the radio and tape deck on my 91 vr. Is it possible to replace these and still keep the cb. I use my cb regularly and am not currently happy with the sound from my stock radio, It is good with the headset but without not so much. i have replaced the stock speakers and tis made a bit of a difference but not too much. any idea will be apreciated David
  20. Does anyone have a set of stock (new style) antenna's, they would like to part with? My new trike has the CB antanna missing and the radio antenna is broke. I know I can install fireflys. but I like the new style folding whips.
  21. was hoping maybe someone could answer a couple questions i have.. on my 05 venture does anyone know how i can get rid of the kilometers on the speedo... not a big deal but i was just looking at it today while we were riding and wondered.. second, quiet often when i have the radio on i get an "rx" on the display. thought it was just loosing signal but we hooked an ipod to it today and it still did it.. any advice would be much appreciated.. thanks
  22. today on a short errand, headed out of town turned the radio on ...... nothing controller didn't light up nothing. Pulled in the clutch turned the key off coasted a ways turned key on started bike let clutch out tried radio everything ok??????????
  23. Some of the buttons on my radio were getting little flaky. Also I was having trouble manually tuning the radio. I did some searching here and found that the buttons were pretty easy to get to. I ordered a bunch of buttons on line. They were only a few cents a piece. Taking the radio apart was a breeze and soldering in the new buttons was just as easy. Replacing all of the buttons took less than an hour. The problem was that the manual tuning and memory buttons still didn't work. I found that by tapping the handlebar mounted module, the manual tuning buttons on the radio would work. The radio scan button was gunked and worn out. I took the module apart and replaced the scan button as well as the CB tuning buttons. Nothing to it and now everything works like new!
  24. Went to look at a 2000 RSV today...only has 71,000 km on it ( about 44,000 mi.). It looks and runs like new, but there was a problem. The intercom didn't work. The radio plays through both headsets as did the CB when someone started using channel 6 nearby, but the intercom just wouldn't work. Switched headsets front to back and the same problem. I thought the radio and intercom shared an amp and therefore if one didn't work, the other one didn't either. Anyone have any ideas? The bike is gorgeous but my wife really wants the intercom...so she can make useful suggestions as we ride along!
  25. I have been using my MP3 or radio on the bike...Installed the XM radio from Walmart and the payment of $11.07 per month ( I did have to pay $15 extra for something) and my 50s 60s 70s music plays 24/7. I highly recommend. I know some of the guys and gals have been enjoying this for a long time but at least I'm now on board.
