  1. Hoping that those of you who are on the site this morning can say a quick prayer. Our oldest son is doing is first long distance solo flight this morning up to our airport to meet us! Grandpa who is also a pilot, Grandma, Gary and myself are meeting him in about an hour. Clouds are low this morning, and I know things will go fine. Problem is I've flown with my dad hundereds of times....but it's a little different knowing your child is up in the air for a long flight by himself for the first time. Just hoping you could say a quick prayer for his safe trip and return home. It would help me out. Thanks Deb
  2. I just ordered a set of the saddle bag quick release Bolts. Man that was fast delivery, and they came by the U.S. postal service. They only took 3 or 4 days from time of order to delivery. Exellent service. I'm not sure who on here is selling them and when i went back they were all gone but the sellers name on E-bay was hilliss. I did a google search for the saddle bag quick release.

    V-max?

OK, I have inherited my boys V-Max while he finished his drill Sargent's tour. I took it to coffee this morning. About halfway I stopped and laced into it 9 grand 1ST{red line} 8S after. It is quick I don't deny. But my 86 is allllllmost as quick in my book. Plus no WIND. God I love my venture! What is Yamaha doing. All this technology and not utilizing it to bring us a kick --- Venture. WAKE UP YAMAHA! I'll stop now and pop in another cassette. This post is in hopes that someone in charge in the Yamaha Corp. wakes up and realizes that number 2 in the full dress category just don't cut it and that there are more and more baby boomers now than at any time of history who have bucket lists. Which mean bigger retirement checks for those who appease us.
  4. Take a look at this trailer on ebay please and tell me what you think. I don't have a problem with it not being covered as I have a couple ideas. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=011&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=320305119786&rd=1 Thanks,

    Back to basics

With the riding season in bloom, I thought the following article - written by the fellow who does the "Ride Like a Pro" videos - worth sharing. Regardless of how long you've ridden, its always good to have a quick refresher, especially if you haven't been on a bike in a few months. Cheers,
  6. I have a quick question. Are the black plastic covers over the valve covers neccessary? I don't see any reason for them being there. Has anyone left these off without any problems?
  7. If any of you guys have an old busted up windshield for an RSTD - I need just the quick release mounts. I want to install my fairing for quick release and this would be a great place to start. I will still have some cutting and welding to do - but this would save me a lot of work. NO LONGER NEEDED Thanks, Shep I will also post this in the Classifieds
  8. this stuff realy works, took a little time to get it right,it's strong, and quick http://www.atlanticjetsports.com/plastic_repair_kit.htm and gose a long way
  9. I have an 06 RSTD and the right side quick release doesnt sit tight enough (the keeper catches over the post but loose) so if i hit a bump it vibrates and makes noise. The left side holds on that round piece nice and snug. Does anyone know how to adjust the windshield mounts so that windshield keeper is tighter to that post? Thank You Hope i explained this well enough.
  10. LA = Louisianna SNOW. I am at work south of Lafayette LA and there was an inch of snow on the steps at 0500 this morining. Folks down here do not know how to act. They are closing I49 and the radio is reporting 18 wheelers in the ditch and cars spining off the road. Schools are closing... What a mess. The sun better come out pretty quick or somebody is gonna get hurt. They would totally shut down the world if they got a real snow that would stick on the roads for a while.
  11. Just a quick question. How often are y'all balancing your carbs? I've been thinking of getting a CarbTune outfit, but wasn't sure how much I'd use it.
  12. Anyone remember where that thread was that gives you the part numbers of the bolts and knobs to order from McMaster Carr to fix up quick release for the side bags? Thanks
  13. Any of you local boys want to ride down to Galveston saturday morning for a quick looky see? Leaving about 9am back just after lunch.

    Quick Stop

I've had my Action Cam since June and I've been using it to make videos while riding. I have Gigabytes of video. However, I really do not know how to process the videos and publish them. So I am learning iMovie (on the Mac) and Youtube. (And learn how to post videos here also.) This is the first movie clip I've published. I was recording my commute to work on I-94 West bound between St. Paul and Minneapolis when a car cuts off a FedEx truck. The truck has to quick stop which forces me to quick stop and lock up my rear brake. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRN-xDPeMcI]YouTube - Quick Stop - Yamaha Royal Star Venture[/ame] If this works I will be processing other videos including rides from Pork in the Pines and our trip to Mackinaw City, MI including crossing the Mighty Mac for the first time and then crossing it while riding on the metal grates the whole way due to the outside lanes being closed. Fun! Cheers,
  15. I stopped by I-90 Yamaha in Issaquah, Wa. this afternoon. Offered me a left over 2006 RSTD, for $12,000, plus $495 Set up and sales tax. Black !! I just happened to see it there on my way to the parts counter, and stopped to eye ball it, and guess what? the Salesman showed up, with that quick offer. Hmmm ??
  16. Where are the fuses on 2000 V Star located. Friend working on one now and needs to know quick. Lyle
  17. Maybe I can get some pictures up later. I just removed the trunk to see how bad it was. I'm talking 6 inch cracks up the side,up the back, across the bottom almost end to end. We got one chunk of plastic missing about 2 1/2 inch square. Obviously this one did not get the Yamaha recall repair in 99. So for a cheap quick fix now ASAP what are my options. I don't care if I have to replace the trunk later but now time is the problem.
  18. Hi, Going to order then change the plug wires on my 83 VR... I could order them from the local dealer, but thought I'd first check if anybody here had any recommendations on brand, or good place online to order them from... Any quick tidbits of advice for making the job quick and easy? Thanks, Clay
  19. http://www.tattootate.50megs.com/index.html A quick site I have built showing my new bike and the mods I have made to it.
  20. Im gonna sell my '83. I wanted to give folks here a shot at it first if they wanted it. New tires front and back, new battery, new fuseable link and wire, new rear brakes and rebuilt rear caliper, recent oil change, fog lights in front, marker lights in back , reflective trim around bags, good windshield, newly recovered seat.....will need fork seals. Is she in perfect shape....nope BUT shes in good shape. BUT shes a runner BIG TIME. 9-0 running against HD, 5-0 against Corvette. HAHAHAHA. She quick quick and reliable. Ive ridden it all throughout Colorado, Nebraska and Kansas with no problems at all.
  21. I was getting the trailer wired today to go to Kbrans in the morning. I hot wired it to under the license plate because I have separate turn signals on the trailer. When I checked it with the trailer connected everything worked fine. I disconnected the trailer to get the bike out out the shed that I park in and now I have only a head light, dash lights, radio and the bike will start and run. I have no speedometer, odometer, fuel gauge, turn signals, 4 ways or brake lights........what is up with this? I turned the ignition on and off several times with no change in the condition. Mind you I don't even have the trailer hooked to the bike! I can't believe that it is a fuse problem because it is effecting too many circuits. Nee help quick! Mark
  22. Is there a quick way to find members in your area or do you have to search through the vr assisatnce page by page? Thanks all
