Well yesterday was Easter Sunday. That meant spending the day at the in-laws overeating, watching a game and listening to the kids play/argue/fight whatever. The entire time I am looking at the thermometer reading 64 degrees, with nice sunshine, and a slight breeze with my scoot in the garage at home without even putting a mile on it. Did not even get a chance to even look at her. What a bum way to spend a beautiful spring day. Shaun

I've been putting off lubing "Uglys" tach. It has bad case of slows but I've got to get in there anyway and thought I would lube Tach While I was doing other things. What is best thing to lube it with??

I recently purchased a Rivco Center Stand for my Venture. The install was pretty simple and all was well until one morning last week I had a hell of a time getting the bike off the stand, it just kept sliding on the garage floor. Never, ever had a problem putting it on the stand or taking it off before. Now the only way I can get the bike off the stand is to jack it up and take stand off. Any suggestions:icon_smile_question

My MP3 player just does not have enough volume, I was thinking about building an amp to boost the volume or buying a pre-made one and putting it inline in the fairing. Has anyone else done anything similar?

My bike has been chosen for alternative fuel. I have to add a car 140 amp alternator to my 92 venture royale. Any idea how?* Thanks in advance. Was thinking of bolting straight onto the stator nut. Or putting a pulley there? Thanks! Lee

Met up with a bunch of the FJR riders (about 50) at the Rio Grand Gorge in Taos NM, during our ride last week. One of the guys (The leader of the group) had a car tire on his rear. I was just wondering if any Venture riders did this. I know some of the Gold Wings are know to do this. No I'm not thinking about putting on on my first generation Venture.

Ok, so I'll be putting the original engine back in my 84 soon. But before I do so I'll be taking care of the second gear issue. It has never had the slipping yet, so I wanted to do some preventative maintenance before I put it back in. I figure it would be less costly if I took care of the problem now than if I wait until it starts slipping out of second gear. You know what the mechanics say,"You can pay me now, or you can really pay me later". But anyway, is there anything else in there I should address while I'm in there besides just the defective thrust washer? While I've got it apart I was also going to put in one of Buckeye's higher output stators. Can I still get one of those stator cooler upgrades somewhere? I'll also be putting in one of Buckeye's spin-on oil filter adapters and solid engine mounts as well. Am I missing anything? Any other suggestion while I'm in the process? Thanks, Bill

Well folks, I've had my Zumo 550 listed in the classifieds for a couple of weeks now. I think I've had one inquiry so unless somebody is interested within the next day or so, I'll be putting it on Ebay.

I hate to do this, but here we go on another synthetic oil jag: So I took my new '09 RSTD to the dealer for the first service (they are also putting on the Flanders bars and lines but that is for another thread) So I asked the service guy if they could put synthetic oil in when they change the oil. He said they don't like to do that and went on a discussion on how it causes the clutch to slip and on "R6 motorcycles causes a ticking noise that sounds like the engine is coming apart". He told me if I insist they will do that but they don't like to because of all of the complaints. Plus he intimated that if I put synthetic in they would have to tear down the engine to find the problems it will cause and it will only be fixed by putting regular oil in. Any way I swear by synthetic, I have always used Mobil 1 in all my vehicles. I am planning on using Amsoil. I will probably go a few hundred miles on this oil then change it to the amsoil. Gentlemen commense lobbing the bombs. David

Well Dan and I made it back to south Ga about 1:30 this afternoon(Monday). We drove up in one day but took 2 to come back. Stopped off and saw a couple of sites along the way. Had a great time for the 2 days we were at Don's. Learned a lot about the bikes and the people that ride the bikes!I'd like to echo what a lot of others have already said. Thanks to Don and his wife Eileen for putting up with this crazy group of friends, brothers, and sisters. You are all the greatest!! I enjoyed meeting as many of you as I did. I hope we can all do this again next year.

I bought a leather gas cap cover from Yamaha that in there catalog. it came in Fri. when I went to put it on it so small it took the owner to put it on and took him 5 min. he said it would stretch with time. I tried to take it off and put on myself today came off a no go putting back on. Does anyone out there have one of these and are they that hard to put on? :7_6_3[1]::7_6_3[1]::7_6_3[1]:

I know this is silly but coming from a Harley air cooled engine I'll be darned if I can find the radiator cap on my 2000 Venture MM, someone enlighten me please as I don't have a manual yet and it only has 6,000 miles on it and has set most of the last year. I need to change all the fluids and the tires before putting it on the road. Still original tires, although no cracking or dry rot visable I won't ride it around the block on them. Having to learn all over again now that I went back non-American.

I just got my license plate renewal form in the mail. I decided that I will bite the bullet get the collector plates since they are good forever. No more renewals for this bike ever again. The plates are for my '88 so that covers the 20 year old part. The only drawback is that I can not drive the bike in the month of January, In Wisconsin that will not be an issue. I never had anything worth putting on collector plates before. There are so many people that look at it and will not believe it is 23 years old (manufacture date was in '87), at least not when it is clean right after its biannual bath.

Today while riding i met up with a friend who i hadnt seen in a while. we got to talking i was saying i was thinking of putting a "back off" modulater on my RSV and said look at this. ( i should have taken pics) but instead of putting that on his bike he went to a saftey supply store and bout a red led flasher the type used on police and fire and mounted this to his sissy bar it has a built in flasher so all he did was wire it to the brake light hit the brakes and bingo has a flashing brake light for the low low cost of around 30 bucks. not a bad idea from a guy who rides a Harley........ just putting the idea out there. I'm new to this whole venturr bike. I've learned a lot just reading from you guys and was wondering ddoes any one have a recommendation for a particular brand of cover? I have a 91 venture royale but I also need to cover my wifes 97 shadow. The building want go up till next year. My wife and I have also kicked around the idea of putting them in self storage for the winter. any one with expieriance in that wrought. Thanks folks as I do appreciate this site, It's helped me tremedacely already. David

I am wanting and needing to get my carbs rebuilt. This guy quoted me with new parts for about $300. This price includes taking them off the bike and putting them back on. Goes by the name of Carb Doctor or Johnny D, he is based in St Pete. Anybody in this area heard of any his work? Thanks, Ross

Just wanted to drop say hey, ive just been so busy getting back to work and catching up on things. and the bike is still down and out slowly working on the forks and putting new disk on the venture. Chelby and everyone is doing well and i cant wait to see and catch up on everyone

I just got some lizzrd lites for the bike and since I have her apart for the repaint I want to put them on as I am putting her together, anyone out there have them and if so were is the best place to put them to look rite? Thanks

I need to get a 16 ft trailer or slightly bigger. Wanting to buy ,rent or borrow one. Youngest daughter is moving here from CA. I plan on going out the 2nd weekend in March and pick her and her stuff up. I'll be putting a 2000 Honda Civic on it which is 2300lbs and some change. Anybody have one for sale,rent or borrow?

Hey all, WE got back in safe . HAd a ball staying with aamcotrans (Rob & Clare). We met up with wanderer at the steak house and went to the show from there. Bike show was interesting and we had a good time. As someone has posted on another thread there was not a lot of great deals at this show but it was nice if you wanted to compare one bike after another. My wife ,Laura , was handling the camera so no pics of my new dream bike but I fell in love with the 2010 v_4 vfw interceptor. We had a ball visiting. My wife say's when putting up the toilet paper the free end should come down in front of the roll....I say it should come down behind the roll...so which is it....:think::think:

Hey all you 1st genners... I wanted to post up that I have only 6...let me repeat this 6 sets of driving light brackets left for sale. I will not be making these again and once they are gone...there gone. So if your on the fence about buying a set, dont sit too long as I will be putting them up on ebay tonight for auction.

I am new to the Venture and need some help on maintenance. Can anyone tell me if there would be a problem with putting a 1992 v-max intake manifold and carberator on my 1987 Venture?

I'm a new Royal Star Tour Deluxe owner. At 5' 6.5" I have trouble putting both feet flat on the ground when at a standstill. The bike came with a super Corbin seat, which I'm not going to change. So is a lowering kit advisable or not? I know this will reduce the cornering angle, but I've also read different things about how it changes the maneuverability of the bike. Anyone out there who has installed a lowering kit and can tell me if it's a good idea or not? My tendency is to hold off on putting one on and try to get used to the new feel. Any counsel anyone can provide will be appreciated. Glad to be part of the forum.
