Ordered a back rest today from Utopia was just wondering if we had a venturerider discount with them listed in the comments for riding groups but didn't see a price change.
  2. I'm considering making a purchase in the next day or so. Found a 2005 RSTD in great cosmetic condition, but has 107,000 miles on it. It's at a used bike dealer with no history or documentation but he claims it was a trade in from original owner who did coast to coast touring on it and hasn't had any problems with it. The rear tire is bald, fluids appear old and dark, but the price is about $1500 under book value compared to 30,000 mile bikes with similar equipment. It does have a new windshield and new seat. Hard bags are nice also. I've had ST1100 with 94k miles in the past with no fear of the bike letting me down, but I had receipts that went back 5 years and A LOT of work was done to it. Would you take the chance? What would you inspect before laying out the cash? The price is $3500. If a rebuild or major failure is eminent at 107k, it would be smarter to go with a $5000 bike with lower miles. Considering the highway touring it's had, I wonder how religious the owner was about oil changes and valve adjustments? Anyone else with 6 digits on their odometer?
  3. This could be interesting....a new style motorcycle....with outriggers! www.wimp.com/ecomobiletests/ notice the price at the end of the video???? OMG!!!!!!
  4. So far we have a total of 11 interested. If I can get a total of 20 orders the cost would be $19.50 each and that would include me buying the mailer and also the postage. I myself would be willing to buy 3 extra making it a total of 14, for those who might be interested after the order is placed. Of the 11 interested maybe there might be 6 people that would buy 2, being that this is a pretty darn good price and might want to give one to a friend for say a Birthday or maybe a Christmas present or maybe your friend did you a favor and you just want to say thank you. For anyone buying two the 2nd would be $17.00 for 2.50 less on the mailer and shipping. So please indicate if you, the below, want 1 for 19.50 and if you would be interested in ordering 2. In your reply I need your Name Mailing Address. If the total confirmed order count is less than 20, I will then ask for a new price for that order and get back to each that order. friesman1 MasterGuns Flyinfool dingy yamtom Wizard765 camos KIC gscbertrand Indiana Hayseed PB&J .
  5. Don't know if any one has noticed the price drop on the Venture in Canada.... Taken from Cycle Canada Site.... Yamaha Motor Canada has announced sizeable price reductions on many of their 2012 motorcycles, including models like the Raider, V-Star 950 and R1. This brings suggested retail pricing on Canadian products more in line with U.S. prices, says Yamaha. “Due to market fluctuations and inventory levels, we weren’t able to address the pricing gaps of the last few years as quickly as we would have liked,” commented Peter Swanton, National Sales Manager, Motorsports for Yamaha Canada. “But to kick off 2012, we’re well positioned to bring about this price reduction. Yamaha customers can now get many models for the same price they would have paid 7 or 8 years ago, even with the product technological advances that have happened in the meantime.” While prices for some machines remain unchanged, many key models will have significant reductions, says Yamaha. For example the Royal Star Venture S's current price of $23,899 drops to $19,999, a $3,900 difference, and the FJR 1300 drops $3200 to $16,999. If it's a litrebike you're interested in, Yamaha's newly traction controlled R1 is now $1,800 cheaper at $14,999.
  6. Went to Port Dover this morning after midnight shift. Had bike all ready the night before BUT SNOW stopped me from ridding there.Got to Timmies and there was a Ural with side-car driving around. There was also an on-off road bike and maybe a V-star also that pulled in BUT you could tell they were from town or trailered as they were really DRY.Arrived there around 10am and left around 12pm and didn;t see any more bikes. Bought my shirts and a couple patches and left for home. Stopped in at Yamaha dealer in Delhi to look over the 2011 blue Venture they had and got a price of $18700 + tax & lic. Said they will be getting 2012 in around the 16th this month. They said it would be in same ball park for price. Kind of like the 2011 as it is blue with black lowers and 2012 is all black(one they are getting)
  7. The battery on my V Star 1300 finally died at age of 4 years and 3 months, pretty good lifespan in my thingking, went to Wallyworld as I normally do to buy a replacement battery, normally in the $50.-$60 dollar range...........wrong, they had 2 batteries, one was 59, the other was 86.00, and these are not Yusa, they were Walmart brand.............last battery I bought for the Venture was aroun 46.00. Shopped around, no luck , so I went to a scooter shop here in Newnan, he was $4.00 cheaper for the Yusa that the Yamaha dealer, when I told him the price difference, he said cant let that happen, he said he would let me have the Yusa for 79.95. So I have found a shop that will beat the big guys prices, I didnt expect him to come down by $30.00. I will have it by Thursday, and I can start riding again after not being on the bike since Thanksgiving due to my surgery.
  8. Looks like our bikes here in Canada have finally been lowered to match US prices. The price of a Venture has dropped $3,900 Canadian. Yamaha has announced big price drops on its most popoular bikes. I guess it is good news if you have nothing to sell and are a new buyer??? http://www.cyclecanadaweb.com/articles/14098/

  12. Saw this today on TigerDirect for $70. And that price includes free lifetime map updates, which normally cost more alone than this price. Good starter unit anyway: http://biz.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1583005
  13. I am thinking of buying a 2002 midnight venture with 10,000 miles for $6400. Was curious to know if this is a good price and what I should look for.
  14. My Garmin Zumo 550 died a slow death. It had served me well for about 2 years and 50k miles. A lot of hard rain and plenty of Texas heat. It started by not responding to the touch screen inputs. Sometimes it would correct it's self and work for a day or two. Finally it started making its own selections and became just useless. I shopped around looking for possible replacements. I could pick one up from eBay but there is always a chance of problems and 4-500 dollars is more than I want to risk. I looked at possibly a new one but that too is just more money than I could spare. Finally, out of desperation, I called Garmin. Turn out they have a refurbishment program for most all of their models. The price varies per model. The Zumo 550 costs $150. Get a return authorization, box it up, (just the main unit), and ship it to them. About a week later I received a replacement unit, they don't repair and return yours, they just want to make sure it is repairable. The replacement unit was shiny like new and worked perfectly. All in all, a simple, price effective alternative to buying a replacement. Thumbs up to Garmin.
  15. Looking for some used youth helmets for 6, 7 or 8 year olds. Anybody have any laying around that are in great shape? Put a price on them and I will consider. Thanks
  16. If anyone is looking to buy a 1500 lb. m/c lift I have a coupon for it from Harbor Frieght. Orig. price $120.00 with coupon $59.99. Let me know if you would like it. PM me your address if you would like it.
  17. Thinking of buying a 83 which is in great condition except that it "suddenly" will not go into 4th or 5th gear. Any ideas on what I might be getting into here. Asking price is $500 and I can do the work myself! Ride safe, Mike
  18. I am in the market of buying a '99 -'03 RSV. My price range is 4,000 to 5,500 dollars. In that price I will be getting a RSV with 50,000 to 75,000 miles. To me .....that's higher miles on a bike.....but I know these Engines/Trans/Drivelines are good for 200,000 miles plus.....so I guess what I am asking is since I will be buying a higher mileage RSV.....what are the big problems that I should be watching for when shopping for an RSV with 75,000-100,000 miles? I am really beginning to like the look of the RSV Millinimum Edition......very different.....buy very classy in my eyes. Thank You.
  19. Well the second shock in now gone at 81K on my "06 RSV. I have read what i could find on the Works and called them yesterday for a price. they Quoted $799, Is that a little high? Is there some one discounting these or is that it. Would like info on what to buy from those of you who have been thru it ,, Thanks
  20. Is there anyone in northern Indiana that rebuilds forks. (83 venture)I hit a man hole and now my right fork is leaking from the bottom. What is a good price for this to be done.
  21. I need to buy new air filters for the 06 RSTD. Anyone have suggestions on a vendor with a good price and quality? Are the K and N filter worth the money?
  22. Well it was time to replace my rear tire. So with all the reading I have done on here I decided to go with the e3. I started checking around on prices, on line, and several dealers. Called Team Power Sports in Garner N.C. and got the best price. Got a new rear elite 3 Dyna Beads and installed on bike for just a hair less than $215.00. I don't think that was bad at all. They had the best price on the tire from the get go. The service writer told me after words, installation should have been more because it was a venture. Code date on tire 0511. Love this sight and ALL the useful information. Thanks Guys & Gals, Melvin
  23. Someone/several have ask about these. I have had these on my bike and they work great. They are more like a floorboard and are comfortable. They adjust in two directions too. They also fold up for to allow you to get in close places. There cheap compared to other foot rest. I have had them for two yrs now and they work and look great. Not covered in rust as I first thought they would be. I ride in rain and wash my bike with water and then blow it off with a $25.00 electric leaf blower from Wally World. Update : I called JC Whittney and talked to customer service specialist. She looked up all the product Sku # difference in the two and they are exactly the same. So why is the price difference I said. Her answer is that the price changed with another factory order and they never changed or updated it on the Webb site. So order this and save $10.00 , Fold-up Highway Floorboards for Harley-Davidson SKU #:1JA 019631 Mfr. #:019631 Ships on 08/29/11 Set $39.99 http://www.jcwhitney.com/fold-up-highway-floorboard-set/p2006697.jcwx?filterid=d17361y2007o60j3 Fuzzy
  24. What factors influenced your decision to buy your Venture or RSTD. I wanted a HD Ultra but the pocket book said no way..... Then I found the RSTD's and it had all the equipment I wanted at the time at a fair price, how could I refuse.
  25. Anyone know what is a decent price for a Dunlop E3 front tire on a 99 RSV? I shucked my rear Metezler with 11k miles on my way to Sturdis. Now I don't trust my front Metezler and want to match the rear. Also where I live, no one handles a tire so a source would be good. Thanks Richard
