  1. Just installed my Trunk Organizer today. Very easy install and actually a pretty nice little luxury to have in the trunk there. Actually, it takes up little space and fits the contours of the trunk pretty well (by using velcro). I was very pleased with this addition and it will keeps LOTS of neat little things at my fingertips. Here is a link to where I purchased it ($34.95): http://www.americanmotorcycleaccessories.com/proddetail.asp?prod=AMA0790 Here are few pics.
  2. Hey Boss I found you another bike. Its already set up for you even has your FreeBird photo too.... Pretty nice set up..... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280504197959&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fmotors.shop.ebay.com%3A80%2F__%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp4712.m39.l1313%26_nkw%3D280504197959%26_sacat%3D%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1
  3. I see that most recommend the EBC brake pads for the RSV. I was wondering where to order for the best price. Also, has anyone had any problems with excessive disc wear due to using the HH sintered pads.I have got to do something, the stock pads just do not do a good job of hauling down 900 lbs. when you need it. Pretty scary when you are sqeezing the front brake lever real hard and pushing down on the back at the same time and the bike seems like it is taking forever to come to a stop.
  4. Did I read somewhere that the 2ndGens have a cigarette lighter power plug??? Or was I halucinating again..... I didn't see any reference to one in the owners manual.... but I'm pretty sure I've run across posts about it... Never mind I found it..... Sorry for the dry run...
  5. Well I made a short trip to Wilmington last night... (about 60 miles) Met up with a fella' who wanted a motorcycle, and he had what I wanted... So we did the trade... With a baby on the way, this is a more practical toy... My New '65 Mercury. The license plate will say HAYLEY (if it's available) I'm pretty stoked! http://hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net/hs378.snc3/24168_1320261879511_1019701763_30764700_7012435_n.jpg Anyhow, even though I gave up riding, I'll still check in with you guys, keep ya' posted about the lil' peanut the wife is brewin', and lookin' forward to Boomer's one-liner signatures!
  6. i have a pair of stock mufflers for a 04 venture. i want to trade a guy for of samsons off a 06 tour delux. i am pretty sure they are the same but is there anyone that can confrim it. thanks steve
  7. http://blog.silive.com/around_the_block_column/2010/04/make_vroom_for_daddys_prized_possession.html My mom called and told me about this article she read in the local paper. Thought I'd share it here. Pretty interesting what you can find in some folks basements. I also attached a pic of the bike. Margaret
  8. We are planning a vacation in Panama City at the end of July. Our son lives in Tallahassee and our daughter in Chicago. We would like to get one unit for all of us. We used to stay there when the kids were little and it seemed pretty reasonably priced but my wife has been doing some internet pricing and everything seems much higher. Even taking into account inflation. Has anybody got a place they recommend?
  9. woked up this mornin and what did i saw??? my bike tipped over by the wind.. :crying::crying:... the windsheild was between the wifes front tire and the fender.. the bike is ok, but skuffed up pretty badly.. here are the pictures after kriss and i picked it up.. I hate redo's.. really bites!!
  10. So, got the new (to me) bike here yesterday. Put in new plugs and wires, completely drained the tank, and filled with fresh gas. Started and idled kinda ok. Sprayed carb cleaner on carbs, shafts, linkages, etc. Drained the float bowls, and restarted. Ran a little better. Pulled one of the diaphragms out, looked pretty new actually. Still will not develop power. What I have noticed is with the choke wide open it will idle up around 3,000, and will have some throttle response, but when you push the choke in, it drops to 1,000 and pretty much little throttle response. Some popping and spitting up through the carbs, but, not bad. And the chokes on the passenger side are pretty sticky. I am wondering if this is an indication of bad carbs, and how hard are the carbs to rebuild. I have a fair amount of mechanical expertise with motors, but, to me, rebuilding carbs has always been voodoo, or a black science. I would appreciate any real world experience from others.
  11. I was messing around in the trunk today and noticed that on both sides of the trunk is a "channel" and there's also a drain on the left side. Then I noticed that the trunk doesn't have a rubber seal? So is the trunk pretty much waterproof or does it leak a lot? Thanks, Wally
  12. hi,venture gang.a couple i was going to go for a ride with my wife,i was airing up my front forks. the neighbor kids were playing around the garage,i hade just put the progressive pump on the valve and the wife called me in the house to move something.i came back outside and the neighbors kid was pumping the air pump.he thought it was a tire air pump.i was nervous the bike was sitting up pretty high,i thought it was ok.we rode awhile and came home.i woke up the next day fork oil was running down both seals.i think he blew both of them out.damn,damn,damn. whats next
  13. Got a brother in law looking at a 07 V-Star 1800 They want 5800. What kind of price is that? I think he said it was pretty low miles.
  14. Sometimes acting like a juvenile can get you in trouble. The other day I was riding down the highway at about 60mph when up ahead I saw a motorcycle that I was slowly gaining on. I was probably going abut 5mph faster than him, so I wasn't gaining that fast. I decided that when I got up fairly close behind him, I would just fall in line and follow to the next town. When I got close enough I could see it was a Harley and it was pretty new. So just as I got to the right spot and slowed down a little to keep pace behind him he saw me and after saying something to the girl on back (probably: "watch this") he twisted the throttle and took off. At first I thought "oh well, so what". Then a little voice (no doubt the devil) said "You know what?...You don't really want to play this game with me". So, being that it was a long straight stretch and no traffic, I dropped it down a gear and let loose. I was doing 95 as I blew past him and heard him drop a gear as I went past and throw the coals to it, but to no avail. There was zero chance he would be able to catch up, much less pass me. I was feeling pretty pleased with myself as I started back into the right hand lane, but right then, the bike started wobbling. The back wheel was kind of fishtailing back and forth and the handlebars was shaking. Scared the you-know-what out of me. Was picturing a hundred yard long red smear on the pavement. However, I ever so slowly eased off the throttle and by the time I was back down to about 85mph, it was riding normally. Good thing the air was warm and dry enough to evaporate all the sweat that was pouring off of me, otherwise, the folks behind me would have thought they had hit a sudden rain shower. Anyway, it was a stupid kid type thing to be doing and almost bit me in the butt. Feller my age should not do adolescent, immature stunts like that and you can bet I will think twice before doing it again. (OK, I've thought twice. I'm over it. Time to do it again the next time someone on a Harley tries that with me.) P.S. I used to own a Harley, and I know what they will and won't do. They are not the fastest thing on the blacktop.
  15. Going to have to jump the bike to get home tonight. Batt. was dead earlier today, put a short charge on it and it fired up. Rode it to work, (32 miles on hwy) figuring it should be ok. Four hours later, it won't start. Jumped it from a car battery (car not running) and it fired right up. Have not tested yet, but I am pretty sure it is the battery and not the charging system. It is the original battery - 3 yrs and 1 month. What is the part number for the battery and what CCA do I need. I am at work and don't really have time to investigate all this. Thanks

  17. Hello, My wife just bought a 2006 Yamaha 650 v-star Silverado. However the bike is just a little to tall for her. I was wondering if any of you have installed a lowering kit on these bikes? If so, could you please explain the proceedure. I'm pretty good with mechanical repair and would like to do this myself. Thanks for the advice! Frank
  18. Well here are my gauges and tach. I designed both pieces with Cimatron E8.5 software and programmed the cnc for the cutter paths. Had them anodized, they did not come out as dark as I wanted, but I think they still look pretty trick. I am using Equus triple gauges and a Nitrous brand tach. Not hooked up yet, that's this weekends project, along with my Utopia backrest. Once this is done I am going to do the crashbar supports and add highway pegs. It's been pretty warm this past week in Michigan, so I gotta get this this back together and road ready.

    TCI

Not getting any readings at the TCI connectors. Following the six pin connector back to the connector right below the left side of the seat, I get similar results there also. Is there a connector other than that one. I'm pretty sure I have a bad connection, I just not sure where to look. Help aaaerstowr
  20. I went for a couple hundred mile ride on saturday, pretty day, temps in the low 60s. Traffic was pretty light, but I do have a couple comments about people I saw while I was out wandering around. First to the gentleman I saw running on the beach up at Tybee Island. You sure looked purdy in your gym shorts and leg warmers. While I may go walking in a pair of shorts and a hoodie, my outfit would never be completed by a pair of stilletos. Second to the gentleman in the black Nissan behind me at the light in Savannah, There is not a gold mine in your nose. There is no buried treasure, and no matter how hard you try, you'll never feel your brain. When you spread your findings across your palm, I guarantee that you won't even find the hubcap that I saw missing from your car. Other than that, I had a pretty good ride and a good day. I think that spring has arrived in south Georgia, 60s and 70s all week with lows in the upper 40s and low 50s. As for today, I hear a golf cart calling my name!
  21. Got to ride today. Got stuck on the ice getting out of the garage and coming back in to. 120 miles. Met up with a Harley riding buddy that I had done some work for on some of his bike parts.Dropped them off and rode home.....Pretty chilly once the sun went down. Geez,I felt like Scooter Bob out there riding thru the snow...
  22. I know a lot of you are "older" (like me) so there's a good chance many of you have dentures (like me). In fact, I've had dentures (uppers and lowers) since I was 23 yrs old. I'm 28 years into my second set (pretty good by most standards). Up until about 3 years ago, they've fitted pretty good. The first set lasted about 5 years before the fit started deteriorating. Anyhoo... I HATE spending tons of money at the dental mechanic's for a re-line so I've been using a product called Sea-Bond Denturite http://www.dentist.net/sea-bond-denturite.asp to reline my dentures. I love this product ... it does a great job and lasts about 2 months. Anyway, all of a sudden none of the places I normally found it carry it anymore .... it's like it's just not available. If I can't find this product, I'm doomed! ... it will mean I have to go to the dental mechanic and have them re-do my dentures (too old to re-line according to them) to the tune of a few thousand dollars. Anyone else experiencing my dilemma? Got any suggestions?
  23. Thought I would post this in case anyone was interested. It's a black tank bra with pocket, concho and tassle. Pretty slick looking. If they had one in brown, I'd jump all over it. There's only one left I think. http://www.chilhowee.net/yamaha-tank-bra/090925019.html
  24. Several members have asked for pics to see put a face to the name (scarey) Not pretty, but can't have everything :rotf: (also put them in my albums)
  25. I got these from either Midnight Rider or Cinderella and thought that some of them were pretty cool.
