  1. We are considering trying to get tickets for an upcoming Master's...has anyone ever gone to it...is is worth the time, money, effort? I know golf doesn't appeal to everyone, but I enjoy it and think it might be pretty neat to watch someone who really knows how to play the game.
  2. I'm under warranty so no worries. Anyhow when I am going up a slight grade with the cruise on it seems to drop excessively, like say 6-8 mph. Of course when it does this the cruise kicks out and my RES light illuminates. Now then it also has a slight "slobber" at idle and smells a little rich. Its a 09 with 3,200 miles. Thinking hit a tank with sea foam first before trip to dealer??? It has the power no problem, but I seem to have to "twist" it up pretty hard on a grade. Also OD or fifth gear seems a little too high at 65 mph. Almost feels like OD would be on the flat or speeds over 75. Is this some of my bogging down problem
  3. Made it home with an 2008 RSV, when we crossed back into Canada today. Didn't want to say much until I got across the border and home. An 08 with 4,800 miles, pretty much bare. Got a little dirty in the rain. I doubt it will be the last time, just hope it's not too often. Don't have many pics but I know the rules. I will get some more up later when I get it cleaned up. Naugh-T can be pretty naughty, eh Kreg and Kenny ? Brad
  4. One of my carb slides have separated from the diaphragms Now, if I should glue it, how tight should the seam be? One the other slides I can rotate the diaphragms! Since even pin holes are affecting performance I guess that it must be pretty tight! If I use superglue between the steel insert and the slider, will I ever be able to separate them again?
  5. Ok, I've been a big supporter of the Avon Venons. I'm happy with them as an all round, all weather tire. But I'm at the point where the set I have now needs to be replaced. The one thing I'd like to gain in a new set of tires is better handling on off the beaten path roads. Lime rock, gravel and dirt. The Avons are not the greatest on these kinds of roads. I'm not going all out off road here but I do tend to wander down any road that will take me to someplace interesting. I live in Nebraska for Gods sake. It takes some effort to get someplace interesting. I ran Contys on my old GWs back in the 80's and they worked pretty well on the gravel roads. They were a pretty well treaded tire. Any recommendations on tire that would be an improvement in this area that would be available in 1st gen sizes? Mike
  6. I have a question for the wise ones here. I know it is not Venture related, but does anyone here know anything about the 1982 Honda V-45 Sabre? We are still looking to upgrade my 16 year old's bike. There is one listed at a dealer in Yankton for $1500.00 with only 13,000 miles on it. Pictures make it look pretty good. Any help would be appreciated. Do you folks think that a jump from 250 to 750 is too much? http://www.yanktonmotorsports.com/images/yanktonmotorsports/VP1921574_1_large.jpg Thanks, Dave
  7. I noticed when I was shopping for my RSV that several I saw on the internet had rusted antenna bases, so this must be fairly common. Here is a pic of one of mine and both are pretty rusty. I like the look of the standard antennas so I really don't want to switch to the Firefly's. Has anybody here had any luck replacing or fixing these things? http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b303/elmicko2002/utf-8BSU1HMDAyMTYtMjAxMTAyMTYtMTMxOC5qcGc.jpg

  9. There's just not much comment which needs to be made to introduce this video. The video itself pretty much sums it all up. Enjoy & Be Safe! Pete. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZ15mbuE_pw&feature=player_embedded]YouTube - Let's Ride Motorcycle![/ame]
  10. Seems like the site has been pretty sluggish for a few weeks now. I just had some optimization done on the server. Hopefully it will help.
  11. Not sure that I would like them but it looks like they should work pretty well. http://www.webbikeworld.com/r4/tucano-urbano-handlebar-muffs/
  12. I'm beginning to get some antifreeze ooze from the coolant plug next to the right rear sparkplug. I tried to remove it and apply some pipedope or tape but couldn't get it to move. I applied a pretty good arm to it but quit before I broke something. Any suggestions??? Thanks.

    HD Nova?

I got this link in my email today, it's for an early '80s designed HD that never made it to production. Too bad too, it looks pretty interesting. http://big-diesel.blogspot.com/2007/09/nova-harley-davidson-which-was-never.html
  14. I first saw this one during last weekend's NFL games. Just don't read the comments, but some are pretty funny in themselves. :rotf::rotf: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YecsUQopNNU]YouTube - TheLadders 2011 Television Commercial Campaign[/ame]

  16. So it was about 65 degrees today and work midnight shift tonight...so that means I was up and around during the day...Had to make a decision...go for a ride or spend a couple of hours washing and waxing it up for winter storage...I decided to go for the wash and wax since I didn't know how many more days like today I'd have...of course when I was done I sure wished I had time to go for a ride...now I don't know if I made the right decision! But she DOES look pretty now!

  18. My other riding group (ZZRBikes) had a ride this past weekend. I was carrying a passenger and decided I would ride the Beast. I towed her to Dallas and rode to Kerrville on Friday morning. The group (2 x ZZR1200, 4 x C14, 1 x R1, 1 x BMW, and my VR) left Kerrville at 9:30am on Saturday. About 75 miles into the ride my rear tire started going down. I found a hole where something had punctured it. We put a plug in it and rode for a while. The plug came out (first time I have had a plug come out) and we got sideways in a turn. We put another plug in and took it easy to the "Motorcycle Store". A staff member claimed he had a plug that would not fall out. He used a kit and punched in a rubber plug with a mushroom or umbrella tip. I took it easy for the next 80 miles to the hotel. In the morning she is still holding the 42lbs of air I started with. I decided we would ride with a group most of the way back to Dallas, safety in numbers and all that. The ride got pretty brisk and I saw 105mph . . . twice. I feel pretty good about this plug and plan on buying one of those kits!
  19. I've got stubby little arms to go with my stubby little legs, so I'm going to need to move the bars back a little closer when I get my RSV. Has anyone here tried these? They look pretty cool. http://www.jpcycles.com/product/ZZ50825?N=2757835&results=100
  20. My knowledge of the Venture and Royal Stars is pretty much limited to what I have read. Since I decided to start riding again, about two years ago, the Royal Star Venture has pretty much been what I have had my eyes on. I did buy a new Suzuki C50 April 09, and while I like it, it just seems not to be quite the bike that I want. I'd like to get educated on the RSVs and TDs by people that know, not folks that are in the business of selling them, or that just ride a bike once for a review, so I'm asking for some help, so that maybe, I'll not make a big mistake when I pull the trigger on an RSV or TD. What do I watch for, what is a problem but not a big one, and what is a definite "Oh-OH" like for instance, the chirp, problem or not, are carbs and gas a problem, or not? I like the styling of the 1996 and up bikes, but I also like the "feet-under" feeling of an older standard bike! I am 6'2" and 250 lbs, 63 years old, and need something that "fits"! So, if an older bike will fit and suit me better, then that is where I should be looking and I'll definitely be looking in the "pre-enjoyed" section! So Folks, can you give me a run-down so that I can figure out what I need to look for, and not go floundering around "in the dark"?
  21. I read this today in Belt Drive Betty's Facebook Blog, (she runs a Canadian Bikers Newsletter and Biker Friendly Business Directory). I thought it was worth sharing with everyone and especially those who dont wear gear or ensure their passengers wear full gear. Here is her website http://www.beltdrivebetty.com I know I was young once. Of that I am quite sure. And I know when I was young I took chances some smarter than others but... I have become highly critical of those who wear things like sandals and flip flops when they ride. When I pull up beside some dude who has his gal on the back of his motorcycle - and she is wearing a bikini or shorts and a halter/tank top, sandals/flip flops and a full faced helmet I want to SCREAM - I WANT TO RAGE - I want to ask him "Do you not value the life of that pretty young thing behind you?" I have been asking you for feedback on buying new gear....today I ask about foot wear...the following story has a lot to do with why I am the way I am when it comes to my feelings about good gear. Back in the day when I was young, I was living in a little community called Mara Lake BC. My old man was a guy with the nick name of Rotten Ronnie - aptly named for the noxious gases that exploded from him after a feed of moose or deer meat...Ron is the man who taught me to ride a motorcycle. Road rash....a story of gory and disturbing proportions that I want to share with you for it is this incident that set me on the path to being an opinionated lady on this topic in many, many ways. One weekend, Ron and I had gone to Kelowna, we had had a great time and got up nice and early on the Sunday morning to head home, Ron had things around the yard he wanted to get done before work on Monday morning. There were lots of motorcycles out - it was a glorious day to ride. As we passed through Vernon, traffic began to get thicker, there was construction up ahead about 10 kilometers or so. This young buck (remember I was a lofty 24 then) pulled up beside us on his Suzuki sport bike. He had this very buxom young lady riding pillion. She was wearing a full faced helmet, a bikini and sandals. He was wearing jeans, tee, boots and a full face. I sat on my ***** pad shaking my head thinking to myself this guy really doesn't value what he has sitting behind him... Well, we leave the set of lights, the dude on the sport bike far faster than us on the our FXRS...he's gone like a rocket....as Ron and I come around a corner - just before the construction zone that is between Vernon and Armstrong - we see the carnage....my blood runs cold and I am almost sick to my stomach. There is buddy's sport bike, embedded in the trunk of a car...buddy is screaming, standing but wobbly, bleeding and road rashed...his once pretty little girlfriend is now dead. Her once buxom form is nothing more than bones now as she has no chest left, just a rib cage from doing a face plant at about 100 KMPH and skidding down the shoulder of the road into the ditch. Her one foot is gone - literally worn off from the high exit rate - she had skidded down the pavement for a good 100 feet or so before tumbling into the ditch. Rib bones and raw meat are all that were left of her. That and her un scarred, untouched face. I guess that was a consolation, at least her family could have an open casket funeral. That crash is forever etched in my mind. The howling of the rider - that of a wolf in enormous pain...the visual of this pretty, pretty girl at the set of lights only minutes before transposed over the corpse lying in the ditch that I saw will never leave my mind's eye. Now perhaps you understand all of the questions from last week about good gear - maybe it will explain a bit to you about why I get a tad opinionated on the subject of gear and helmets etc...so today the question is footwear - what brand, what style and why you chose the particular style you did. Foot wear is a very important and vital part of the gear equation in my mind...Please share with me your thoughts on choosing good footwear...

Buddy, your signature is pretty neat. Not sure why every night it tells me I am at a different place ? It's always pretty close to where I live. Brad
  24. I have to change my rear tire tomorrow, question is, can Ride on be saved and reused, or is it pretty much junk??
  25. Ok , Guys. n Gals. It was a pretty cool event so here is my photos. this was the first time to this one and thanks to karl for tipping me off about it. Even thou it was a very cool morning and an hour and half up to flint from Lincoln Park. I drove up in the car with my 2 kids. despite the later in the day "dad is it time to go yet" from my 6 year old they were pretty good troopers. next year I will for sure be entering my 83 venture, and my 74 honda rat chopper. http://s592.photobucket.com/albums/tt7/dd7890/Bikes%20on%20the%20Bricks%202010/th_flintbikeshow003.jpg
