  1. Ever see a 2 seat hydaplane a small version of the one with the pontoons on the bottom. Saw some on a trailer the other day and did not get to talk to the driver before he took off. They looked pretty neat and would like to find out who makes them and where there located.....................Ron
  2. I have a couple questions. I have a 07 RSV. Just got my 2 sets of J&M Elite 584 Series headsets. Is there anyone in (preferably) Edmonton that can install these in full face Shoei helmets. Anyone hear that knows how to install them professionally knows that there is some cutting to do. I am not comfortable in doing it. There is some pretty stiff plastic in the ear area. I am hoping that there is someone hear that has done this a few times and has gotten over being uncomfortable doing the install. Thanks, Greg

Driving home from the Grocery store, 81 y/o in a brand new subaru pulls directly into my lane, panics and comes to a complete stop. Can swerve to the right, so I picked the rear quarter panel and hit him. Up and over the windshield, over the rear of his car and down onto the pavement I go. Sprained neck and back and a magnificent bruise on my left thigh from whatever I hit when I was traveling thru the air. 6 Hours in the hospital, bikes totaled, helmet has some pretty nifty gouges, but hey, other then I'm going to be pretty sore I will be fine. Now comes the fun part, fighting the insurance companies. Hmmm, what a shame the 08's JUST came out.
  4. OK -- how difficult is it going to be for me to install a CD changer on a 2000 RSV? Am getting one and was hoping the bike would be prewired for it, but apparently I have read that my hopes have been dashed. Pretty sure all cables and stuff will be included, as it came out of another RSV.
  5. A while back, somebody posted a link here for a site dedicated to Road Star riders who are adding fairings, bags, etc. to their bikes. I'm usually pretty good at searching and finding old posts but have not found this one. Can anybody help?

  7. Hey I'm retired now so we decided to go with the Grays (bald and maybe even a couple of blue hairs LOL) on a bus tour to Boston (sister talked me into this) So if your in the area and want to come for a coffee at night ..(these tours keep ya pretty busy during the daytime) we be at the Mariner Motor Lodge. Tuesday to Friday...Just ask for the Iler's !! Bruce and Maxine
  8. :mo money:I realize now that I paid nearly twice what I should have for this bike, but there's no turning back now. The clutch is finally right, and the brakes are finally right. Even got venturecruise working. If I had looked at E-bay b4 purchase, I could have added about another grand and had a real nice ride. Oh, well-It's only money:crying:. Anyhow, on to the next project. I noticed that the fork seals are leaking pretty good. Almost to the point of why bother to wash it b4 riding. When I pull it apart, is there anything in particular that I should be looking for? Also, anybody got any idea how bad I'll get burnt by the stealer on parts? By the way, had to go to advance auto parts and rent a vacuum pump to pull all the air out of hydro line for clutch.
  9. I'm a pretty large guy (6'3", 305lbs) and my wife is a big girl and with us loaded for a weekend trip I know we are pretty well over the "max weight" of the bike as stated in the owners manuel. What damage am I doing to the bike, and is there something that could break because of this that could potentialy cause an accident from mechanical failure. And, is there anything I could do to strengthen the bike so I get as many problem free miles out of it as possible. (BTW, I had over 55,000 miles on my Nomad, half of which were 2 up, with no (known) problems)
  10. Hello all, Well, my bodywork on my '87 is coming along pretty good, have half the parts painted, but in taking off the left saddle bag, it is pretty bad. If anyone has one they would be willing to part with, could you let me know. I don't need the lid or hardware. Thanks D
  11. I'm not really sure where to post this, so moderators, move it it ya need to. :-) My Father-In-law has a 1974 Yamaha RD200 Electric that he left garaged for 15 years. he parked it when the tires went flat and never bothered with it again. I snagged it out of his shed a few years back and with the help of a friend of mine we've got it back in running order.. the only problem we are faced with now is the gas tank. He left gas in it for those 15 years.. I'm sure you can all imagine what we were met with when we opened it up. We've run several of those tank cleaning kits through it (you know, the three bottles of goop) and it's still pretty bad off... It's at least usable now, but here's the issue. On each side of the saddle there's a small 90 degree pipe that comes down that is supposed to be connected with fuel line so that fuel from the side away from the petcock can be used... at some point both pipes have become filled with gunk. I"m not sure if it's from the tank cleaning stuff we used or if it's just from having sat for so long with fuel in it, but they're clogged pretty good. We've tried everything we can think of from drill bits to get as much as we can to pipe cleaners to try and clear around the bend, but we can't get it to punch through on either side. so I've decided to look for a new tank. SO, any of ya'll know where i can get a new tank for a '74 RD200? I've been watching e-bay but I can't seem to find a tank. I tried a few cycle salvage yards but haven't been able to find one there either, at least not one that's in serviceable condition. Thanks in advance guys!
  12. Ever wonder what is in those cans? Thanks to GeorgeS, you can now see. Lot's of restriction. Pretty much the same situation on the second gens also. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=3365
  13. less than 2 weeks, the 2nd time riding to work. Man I was feeling pretty high up in the world riding in on my shiney new steel blue 84 xvz12, Tunes were sounding great. I pulled into the parking spot real graceful like and decided to lean her over a bit and back up so that the front of the bike was pointing in the best postion to be seen. I was feeling pretty good about my new bike. Just as I started to back up , my foot slipped out from under me, sliding quickly on a bed of dried up pine needles that had fallen from the tree behind my parking spot. The bike's weight suddenly became apparent as it leaned heavely against my thigh., I had no choice but to let her down as gently as I could. slowly and with no doubt a look of horror on my face it started to slide down. It was like it was in slow motion lol. It hit , and landed on the engine gaurd so softly that I could barely hear it. I got off and looked around hoping that no one had seen it. I thought I had gotten by when a good friend could be heard snickering and asking if I was ok. Of course I said I was even though I could feel the torn muscles in my back and neck from trying to save my new bike from any harm or God forbid a scratch. He helped me get it back on it's wheels and onto the center stand . I thanked him and just knew he would tell, lol. YEP he did, I was teased pretty good for the last week or so, but I guess I just mark it up to another learning experience. EMBARRASSED?????NAH , NEVER lol P.S. hope I am still elcome in this club hee hee
  14. Hi Everyone, Going to take my gas tank off so I can have it airbrushed. Is there step by step instructions for the (not so handyman) so I can take it off.... I guess I should drain it too....eh! I was hoping it was pretty easy/straightforward so If anyone has some information or can point me in the right direction it would be appreciated. Thanks
  15. Not that expensive either. http://www.webbikeworld.com/r3/safety-vest/safe-lites-beaconwear.htm
  16. I saw this on another forum and it is pretty slick idea http://forums.delphiforums.com/vrider/messages?msg=3299.1
  17. Thanks to Cougar for this excellent write-up Installed the Electronic Connection AMP http://www.electricalconnection.com/audio/amp.htm The Install took about 6 to 8 hours. (with no beer) Start here and remove the seat/tank/passenger seat/front fairing/rear speakers. I had already installed upgraded speakers so I just took them off and put them there to work on. also you need to get that trunk cleaned out *LOL* remove the nylon purse thingy and that should get you ready. (MOUSE OVER THE PICS TO MAKE THEM LARGER) then mouse over again to make even larger ~S~ (bottom right) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_024.jpg (remove front of fairing) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_053.jpg (remove passenger seat) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_014.jpg (remove tank) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_005.jpg (remove driver seat) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_028.jpg (remove junk out of trunk , pad and the nylon junk holder) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_011.jpg (remove rear speakers) Then cut a "X" in that kewl rubber grommet that Yamaha Left for us to use and start running the wires like how I did if you want. (REMEMBER) THERE IS ONLY 25 FT I had 12 inches left over when finished! I used a 12 Gage High Strand Count wire for the Power and Ground they say run the ground short.. Its OK to run ground to the battery , worked fine for me. ( Phil at E/C says thats fine as well ) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment.jpg (cut a *X* hole on the grommet) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_013.jpg (start to run wires)(one at a time)(MARK THEM) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_043.jpg (wires running over the rear fender) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_018.jpg (wires running to beginning of drivers seat area) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_048.jpg (wires running under modulite and toward tank area) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_008.jpg (same) bad pic http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_009.jpg (wires starting to run from seat area to under tank) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_042.jpg (wires running under the tank area) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_030.jpg (wires running almost at front of tank now into the fairing) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_006.jpg (same pic darker) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_038.jpg (kind of not in order *oops* again running under the start of tank) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_022.jpg (12 Gage wire running back to trunk) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_045.jpg (same) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_020.jpg (wires running through that kewl hole under trunk) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_050.jpg (same) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_010.jpg (same) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_041.jpg (and up through hole in trunk) Now make sure your marking your wires with a sharpie number 1 for wire one. number 2 for wire 2 ect.. or mark black bands around them each time you run a Purple wire. (ON EACH END) run ONE AT A TIME! (then mark) the instructions are pretty clear. http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_025.jpg (same) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_016.jpg (left front speaker) #1 , the instructions will tell you How to wire these It's pretty simple! http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_040.jpg (same) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_023.jpg (solder and heat shrink) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_032.jpg (shrink) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_012.jpg (shrink more) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_019.jpg (make it pretty) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_049.jpg (now run to the trunk and find the wire you MARKED for left front speaker and do what it says on the label) I had no patients to solder all these wires. so I used the supplied connectors! http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_002.jpg speaker 3 (rear left) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_015.jpg (starting to look like a spider web or mess) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_047.jpg (get the power and ground and REM wire hooked up as well) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_029.jpg (same mess) Now for the Rest.. keep them wires nice and neat! look at the pics under the seat I have a modulite and ran a "U" shape under that then put the modulite back in it's place.. ALL the wires even the 12 Gage will fit in that Rubber Grommet. Also run the one wire it says to a Lights On Wire what ever one you pick the Unit will power on only when its hooked to a source like your lights when the key is on .. I chose this way because if I went to the AUX to power the AMP the engine isn't running and that might drain the battery pretty fast. (that wire will be the REM Wire. You will see if you decide to do this project. Place the AMP in the Trunk.. put it in any direction you wish It will run any way you wish.. I chose this way.. http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_046.jpg ( don't forget to adjust the Channels settings to about were it shows) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_037.jpg (same) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_036.jpg (make it all neat and pretty and put those back speakers in place) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_021.jpg (hook those ground and power wires up to the battery with a in-line fuse (supplied) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_051.jpg (your choice) on how you want the place the amp. If this way -remove that nylon holder thingy) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_031.jpg (I used a aluminum plate I had laying around, you could use a piece of plywood I bet) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_044.jpg (get this high power Velcro type stuff at Radio-Shack) (2 packages) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_026.jpg (start sticking) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_004.jpg (start sticking) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_034.jpg (start sticking) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_007.jpg (make pretty with the auto wire cover up stuff (3/4 Dia) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_039.jpg (keep making pretty) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_027.jpg (go go go ) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_052.jpg (damn that looks nice) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_035.jpg (wow it powered up) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_017.jpg (damn thats pretty) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_003.jpg (cut the carpet where that kewl hole for the wire were and put that back in) http://www.venturerider.org/amp/thumbnails/attachment_033.jpg (wow the helmets still fit in there) I removed the purse/web holder bracket and put the screws back in for the speaker pods.. them I had a aluminum plate and placed it over that part as you can see. USE THAT HEAVY VELCRO from Radio Shack.. then finish it up.. Turn Radio on and WOW.. Make sure you don't do what I did and not Adjust those dials first..(CH#1/2 - CH#3/4 ) the sound was worse *LOL* (notice in the Pic were I set mine for the Pioneers) still plenty of room left on the dial. After I did that.. Its amazing. and with the speakers I have now the Pioneers , that are pretty good. I still cant turn the AMP Watts any farther. so there is plenty of room to spare. Oh Yes notice that our helmets still fit in the trunk! (you don't need to use the black isolator on this bike there is no motor noise, popping or anything) Any Questions Feel Free to call Phil @ E/C great folks. Jeff
