  1. A lot of discussion on MC tyres gets entered on the site. Not intended to open more debate on which is best. Just wanted to post this for those interested in getting more information on MC tires. http://www.conti-online.com/generator/www/de/en/continental/motorcycle/themes/download/technical_manual_uv.pdf
  2. I have some windshield trim and brown passenger arm rest for 1st gen MK11 (came of an 89). If anybody wants these, email me at sc750virago@charter.net. No charge, if anybody can use them you can have them. Just take all of it, save me 2 trips to the post office, lol. Thanks.
  3. I just tried to reply to a post and was notified by the forum that I had to fill in the NAME field in my profile to be able to post. I was wondering when that change went in and why it's required? Honestly, I will never post my real name on any public forum and it should never be a requirement, IMO.
  4. It's very likely that I'll be selling my '07 RSV and Unigo trailer very soon. I haven't decided if I'll sell them as a package deal or separately. I'll know more this weekend after I talk with a couple of dealers. I'll post to the classifieds when I get the details ironed out. Here are a couple of photos. Dennis
  5. For several years, a man had been having an affair with an Italian woman. One night, she confided to him that she was pregnant. Not wanting to ruin his reputation or his marriage, he paid her a large sum of money if she would go back to Italy to secretly have the child. Also, if she stayed in Italy to raise the child, he would provide child support until the child turned 18. She agreed, but asked how he would know when the baby was born. To keep it discrete, he told her to simply mail him a post card, and write 'Spaghetti' on the back when the child was born. He would then arrange for the Child Support Payments to begin. One day, about 8 months later, he came home to his confused wife. 'Honey,' she said, 'You received a very strange post card today.' 'Oh, just give it to me and I'll explain it later.' he said.. The wife obeyed and watched as her husband read the card, turned white, and fainted. On the card was written: Spaghetti, Spaghetti, Spaghetti, Spaghetti, Spaghetti. Three with meatballs, two without. Send extra sauce.
  6. Does anyone have photos of a hitch for a 89 VR that they could post? along with notes on what gets bolted to where! Thanks
  7. Don, Moderators, and Members I want to express my extreme appreciation of this site...and it is due to the above folks. I no longer own a Venture (which I still think is a GREAT bike), but I REFUSE to leave this site...it is the ONE motorcycle site I visit several times a day. As I bought a wing a few months ago, I started looking for sites that have info regarding this bike. There are several out there, and, for the most part, are good to visit. However, these sites allow about any jerk to post...whatever they want to post. Some of these people are really out there, and I find that it really detracts from being able to enjoy the site as much as I do Venturerider.org. I know I don't have to read what they post, and normally I don't. But every once in a while (depending on the topic) I read what they post, hoping it will add something of interest...NOPE, they just want to stir the pot! Stirring the pot can be a fun thing...it is on this site...good natured ribbing of fellow members. But on the sites of which I speak, the comments are caustic...extremely so. I'm not thin skinned...28 yrs in the military ensured that...but, I cringe at some of the things a few of those members post. I know on VR.org these folks would be taken to the wood shed by Don, or the moderators, or the other members...in an effort to get them back in line. Again, thank you to all the aforementioned, for keeping this a site that is ENJOYABLE to visit (as I said, several times a day). You are a great group of people and I thank you for not showing me the door even though I no longer own the bike that brought me to this brotherhood. I will close now, before the tears start to flow (just kidding...I am not THAT moved by it all). Keep on doing what you do...it works!!!!
  8. Looking at a rear fender luggage rack. It says it is for the 96-2000 model. Anyone know if it will fit the 2007 model. Part # is STRIDB512000 Thanks Tom Mr Moderator Sorry for the double post, I just need a quick answer. I will delete as soon as possible I can get an answer. Thanks:big-grin-emoticon:
  9. For those that have a HF trailer. Per the specs the bed is 40 x 49 inches. Am I correct to assume that it is 40" wide? Can someone that has one give me the total dimension from outside of fender to outside of fender? Has anyone flipped the axle to the top of the springs just to lower the CG? I can not find any car topper that fills all of my needs so I am planning to build one. I will incorporate the wheel wells into the box that I am building. Dang this will be a lot of work between now and MD. Yes I will post pics as soon as there is something to post pics of.

  11. I remember seeing a member that built his own dog hauler trailer and he had pictures on his post. I can't seem to find the post anywhere. I do remember the guy had a yellow lab that he pulls in it. Any help in finding the post or who the member is would be appreciated. Thanks Ben
  12. In a brilliant move while uncovering the Venture I snagged the cover and broke the antenna, the one with the black plastic piece in the middle. I broke it off at the top of the black piece. I thought this was the CB antenna. I took it off and went ridding and found that my FM radio reception was very poor. So was this the Radio antenna? I have looked back over a couple of post but still am confussed, I would like to replace both antennas with one is there a post that explains how to do this and is this a complicated process? What is the best antenna to use? Thanks for any help!
  13. As it seems most of the continent has had more than enough snow to go around, I thought it might be a good idea to see if we can get folks to post their best Venture in the snow picture. OOPS!!!! that last one snuck by me...... Brian
  14. Could someone please help me find a post. Yesterday I was reading a very interesting post, we had to leave so I booked marked the post. When I returned I just couldn't find it. The post was on somthing like any leo's out there and what to say and what not to say when pulled over allso the ten rules which you might want to memorize by a 33 year law enforcement veteran and former training commander with the Maryland State Police and Baltimore Police Department and narrated by former federal judge and acclaimed Baltimore trial lawyer William Billy Murphy Jr. I did find the sights: http://www.independentamerican.org/2010/11/16/10-rules-in-dealing-with-criminals-with-badges/ http://flexyourrights.org/10_Rules/Murphy Thanks for your help. AL Bates P.S The post was very interesting to me and seeing both sides and some of the real experiences that each side have to offer was great. If I do ever get stop again I will place my hands on the wheel and roll my window all the way down and turn on my inside lights, most of all I will be cool, calm and respectful. I wish the post was still here i could have learn a great deal more. Note: hot heads deleting post do nothing for the sight. I wish they would check with the boss first. P.S.2 Infomation in post like the one that got deleted may help to keep both sides straight. No mater what profession there is always a small percentage that will stray.
  15. Yep, Yammer I thought that would get your attention. I've always hated the dingy tan plastic/rubber tank bra that they put on the Millennium edition RSV. A while back I ordered a piece of buffalo hide and started thinking about making my own. I definitely wanted a pocket to put stuff in and I wanted it big enough that I could put my iphone in but didn't want it to be all saggy if it was empty. Anyway, I've started the work and thought I would post photos of the work in progress. It's going to be basically the same shape as the stock bra, but made of leather and have a (hopefully) nice looking pocket on it. To support the leather for the pocket, I found a plastic bottle that was the width and height I wanted and cut out one side of it. I then used fabric glue to adhere it to the leather. The lace you see on the top of the pocket will go down the entire length of the bra once it's finished. Let me know what you think whether pro or con. So far I'm happy with it. Once I get it completed and mounted on the bike, I'll post some more pics.

    Red X

How come when ever I try to post a picture on the forum instead of making it an attachement it comes up as a red X instead of showing the picture
  17. Just wondering if anyone has put a big bore kit in their venture. I have a 2003. Is there a kit for the Ventures? If you have put one in, what has the pre and post install experience been in comparison? Thoughts on should it or shouldn't it be done. Thanks.
  18. Well Al, to answer your first post.... It was there?? Don't know what happened to it?? On your second post, Glacier is a great place to visit. There are many smaller towns close by that offer Lodging. When in Kalispell we stay at the Motel 6. My bro lives in Kalispel... The Road to the Sun is a must do. http://www.nps.gov/glac/planyourvisit/goingtothesunroad.htm White Fish is kinda cool. Columbia Falls is also a good place to stay.
  19. Hello all. This would be my first real post here. Turns out I need some parts or advice. What a way to start off, heh? I have a 83 VR. Mk1. (Is that correct?) Two of the carb slides are giving me issues. It seems that they have separated. On one, the plastic slide has broken apart. The other was intact, so I just pressed it back together. Should I worry about the reassembled one? Is gluing the other back together feasible? I have all the parts. I have gathered these are quite expensive, and not that common. If I have to pay dealer prices, just two would be almost what I paid for the bike! The breaks look clean and very recent. Any ideas how they broke? Did I cause this? Funny thing is, I had her running before tearing into the carbs. Would not idle, but ran none the less. She sat for a couple of years non-running before I came along. Should I post a WTB somewhere? THANKS IN ADVANCE Michael
  20. My '07 RSV won first place at the Penelope hhouse bike and car show a couple weeks ago. I forgot to post about it. That was first place overall. '07 RSV was the only non HD in the show.
  21. Just a note to let you know about excellent service. Marca split the zipper on her Frogg Togg Jacket. We had bought our suits at Hully Gully in London last year, but didn't have the reciepts any more. I emailed FT with my problem and within a day a got a note back stating their policy, and that they had experinced problems with zippers being too light and coming apart, so I could ship the jacket back to them and the would see what could be done. So that's just what I did. Here comes the fun part, I shipped via Expedited Parcel, Canada Post. Put it in the mail on Oct 12, it arrived in Mississauga the day following, and sat there until Oct 24 at which time it progressed to International shipping and finally left Canada on the 25, arriving at FT on the first. I then informed FT that the item had arrived, finally, and they weren't impressed, but told me that the turn around would be 2 weeks, and so not to expect it any sooner. I told them I understood. Yesterday,,,,, a package was delivered,,,,(about 1 week after it arrived at their place, and in that time they even fixed it it ) the same jacket with a new upgraded zipper,,,,, no charge Mr Norg, pleasure doing business with you, have a great day. THANKS FROGG TOGGS for the excellent service, and for making up lost time on the part of Canada Post. I will buy FT again, but not Canada Post
  22. OK folks, I've started re-programming the countdown to our events page. I've added "Spring, "Maintenance Day" and the "International Rally" so far. If you have dates to other events, see some that won't be held this year, need to add other major ones, please post the info here so I can get it updated. Thanks for your help. Here is a quick link to the page: http://www.venturerider.org/rally/
  23. I picked it up at 1:00 PM and have it at the house. I have taken pictures, but someone needs to remind me how to show them on a post. Exceptionally clean '89 1100 with 11,000 or so miles and great tire. I saw it last week while in Marion NC and made the deal this morning. Now how about some help with where to get engine gaurds and how to post the pix.
