  1. I really hate to cancel the Maintenance Day but due to a couple of circumstances I feel the need to do so. I'm kind of mechanically inclined but not enough to be the oversee this event. Others who were planning to help aren't certain they can make it so I feel it is best to call it off early instead of waiting until a week or so before the event and having to make the call. If one of our members wants to step up to the plate and take over I'm more than willing to let this group use my four garage stalls for that day. Another small factor I switched over and am riding a Goldwing trike. I found a great deal on an 02 and my goal is for my wife to ride with me. Again, I apologize from the bottom of my heart for you who were planning to come. I had good intentions when I scheduled this event. My humble apologies, Mark
  2. Hi, Here is a link to the map of a route I have in mind for a day long ride around part of SE Ontario some time this summer. The motivation, besides getting some saddle time, stems from a nostalgic desire to relive a bit of my childhood by making a crossing aboard the Glenora Car Ferry. See the blue section between C and D on the map. I can't believe that these old boats still run and want to get one more trip in while I can. As long as the weather cooperates, its a very pleasant and scenic crossing of about 15 minutes duration. (I might even park the bike once across and do another round trip on foot just for the fun of it) Any one interested to join me for all or part thereof? I am planning to go on a week day, since I have time off available and dislike weekend traffic. Other than that, I am flexible as to dates and open to suggestions, although SWMBO will, of course, have the ultimate veto power on any proposed dates. Also be aware that I am planning on an early start, somewhere in the 06:00 time slot I think. A rain date should be factored into the mix also in case of a washout of the primary date. Notice, I have deliberately avoided any 401 travel as its not what I am interested in but it might make a quick escape route should anyone need or want it once the main attraction is done. In general, I am planning a leisurely ride and will not be speeding, too much. I'll likely stop and do a bit of a look around Picton, lunch there is in my mind but I'll see how the time goes and how grumbly my tummy gets on the day. What do you say folks ? Brian H.
  3. I was wondering how many of us are planning on going Leesburgs for bikefest??? We are planning on being down there all three days, staying not to far away in Wildwood. Would like to see if anyone wants to meet and ride in together a day or two or just meet there. Our first time going , don't really know what to expect just going down to relax and enjoy riding.
  4. Who is planning to come to the angel city rally in Unadilla Ga, in April. For those not familiar with it visit the web site at www.angelcityrally.com I will be in my usual spot, campsite 155, rally is April 14 to 18. Anyone planning on going let me know, I am hard to miss, I have a yellow and white 1971 dodge travco motorhome. There were some RSV's there last year but I only talked with one and he was not a member at that time. It's a fun rally to me Gregg
  5. Yamaha North Texas on hwy I 35 in Lewisville is having their "Get Out & Ride Open House this Saturday" Just wondering if anyone from North TX is planning on going? They are advertising free rides, food etc
  6. Well, i haven't ridden in awhile, so as you can all probably guess, its killing me. I have been outside scraping the last of the ice off of my street, and got the bike put back together. I have to work at 12: 30 so I'm planning to leave at 10 30. It should be fun!
  7. My wife and I got caught in the rain once on the interstate and we got wet before I could stop, but that didn't bother me as much as not being able to see. I have an '05 RSTD with a tall windshield, and I wear prescription glasses without a face shield. The combination of water drops on the WS and my glasses made it feel dangerous. We are planning a trip this coming week and it looks like we may run into some rain. Any of you have any pointers for me to improve visibility?
  8. Ok its getting close to time, for Biketoberfest. I did not get to the meeting last year but, WHO is planning to go this year, as usual we will go down on wednesday and come back on monday. Is anyone planning a venture M&E during the 2009 Biketoberfest. Let us know, would love to meet. Gregg
  9. Cincinnati has only gotten down into the 40's so far this Fall. At what point do you say, no I think it is too cold to ride? We are out there riding still, do not intend to park the bike for a while. However, I do notice fewer bikers out already. I think riding in the Fall is probably one of the prettiest seasons to ride. We are planning on going to Elizabethtown, KY next weekend, and go on over to Bardstown to tour some bourbon distilleries. I hope there are samples. Keep warm. Yama Mama
  10. Well hello all! I just want to start a thread regarding a trip that Dragerman, Rob and myself are planning, it is just in the initial stages of planning right now. We are headed to Deals Gap on Sept 21. Any and all members in the area, or on the way would be more than welcome to join us. This is a Monday to Friday. I think we want to avoid the weekend. And we are also planning on riding the Blue Ridge on the way back to Ontario. I have talked to a few people, and everyone has suggestions and routes, things to see and do. So here is the place to put them. I think all who are thinking of going, should meet up at some point to discuss the details. The trip will be informal, and unrushed. So, who's in? I know I talked to a few about it at Carls weeks back, so get on board, and let's get this show on the road! Literally!
  11. I Know this has been talked about in the past, But i'm still wondering what pads to use on my 1st gen. Seems theres organic and sintered. I'm planning to pull a trailor next year with 2up rideing.. Theres pads on e-bay that seem cheeper then anyware else. I'm cheep so i'm looking. Any comments?
  12. Is any one here planning to go to Thunder Beach in Panama City Beach, Fla. on Sept.23- 27.I'm planning on going on the 26th.Just wondering if any other members were gonna be there.I hope all this rain clears out before then.
  13. I am planning to replace my clutch, but after reading all the threads on the subject I am a little confused. I am planning on using the Barnett clutch spring and plates. The service manual calls for a new o-ring, ball and retaining wire. Do you use these parts with the Barnett clutch upgrade? The thread in the tech section said not to use a few parts but I'm not sure if it was for the Barnett or not. After 61k of riding 2 up and towing a trailer it has begun to slip and I don't plan on getting rid of it any time soon, so I am going to replace every thing. I should of had the dealer do this when they changed the clutch basket a couple of years ago. I live a long way from anywhere I can get parts so I need to have everything before I start. Thanks for your help.
  14. I am planning a run to Deals Gap for late September. I would really like to 3 or 4 co-conspirators. Looking at 2 days up, 2 days there and 2 days back. Who is up for a little adventure?
  15. just got home about an hour ago. what a great time. got to see everyone off, almost. we are going to do it again at the hub next year. thats all i will tell you. i will let don elaborate on it when he gets a chance. since it was his idea. i will be available to help with the planning if don wants me.
  16. Hey Cinderella and Wrongway and everyone else thinking of Lamberts on their way to the 2009 Rally- Are you still planning to meet up at Lamberts for lunch on Sunday? As you know NEWTrk and I can't be at the Hub this year thanks to our daughter making wedding plans and expecting us to be there, but thought that we could meet up with you at Lamberts on Sunday if it's still in your plans. Let us know if you are still planning of the 12:30 - 1PM timeframe and we'll see you there. BTW we also have some raffle prizes to donate and this would save us the cost of mailing them.
  17. Planning a tour through South Western Ontario next week. I'll be somewhere between Windsor, Brantford, Orangeville and The Bruce. My focus is to rally small meat markets\butchers together in trying to change the way our provincial government is handling the inspection system. I suppose it could be seen as a holiday and I kind of like that idea, but I will be focused on this issue, as change is drastically needed in order to save businesses such as ours. Trouble is, most guys feel that they are all alone and have to deal with the government on a one to one basis, so I plan to change that thought somewhat,, maybe even start a new association. So if you know of a small meat market or butcher, let me know, I'll try to pay them a visit.
  18. Please check your calanders for my first meet and eat...free camping available..It is listed in the meet and eats section and also on the calander..PIONEER MOTORSPORTS is working with me on this endevor ..hope to see you all there...need you to post if you are planning to camp ...
  19. Ok, I'm very busy today with questions. LOL. I'm thinking about giving my old girl a new paint job. She is warn and wheatherd. I don't have the money to pay someone to do it, so I think I'll try my hand. I'd like to get some opinions and advice as I move forward. Any good sites that would be helpful? What's the best paint to use? Can I get a "nice" finish with a rattle can? Just starting in the planning stages, but I love a new project. Thanks, to MarCarl my scoot is running GREAT! Attending MD was the best thing I could have done! But now I'd like her to "look" good too! Thanks~
  20. I guess Jamie will have to be changing his name soon, he no longer has the GW, since his wife has her own bike, he decided to downsize and go with something a little smaller, he now has a 2007 V Star 1100 Silverado. Very nice bike, looks like brand new, he is very happy with it and looks forward to riding to Skids in a couple of weeks. We are in the planning stages of that ride. I know pics are required but I didnt have my camera with me when I saw it the other nite, but they will be forthcoming.
  21. looks like things are coming together for the 09 rally. more people are beginning to register and it's coming upon us fast. what a ride this has been. it's alot of work putting these meets together. i have a great bunch on my committee. now we need all the folks that are planning to attend to help us out and get registered as soon as you can. we can't wait to see all you folks. bill :clap2:
  22. I'm not planning anything anymore, something always happens. Planed on meeting other Michigan riders this morning to go to Feebirds MD. So yesterday I'm at the car wash getting the bike all ready to go. I go to get on the scoot and feel a pain in my right knee. 3 hours later the knee won't bend, support any weight and is twice the normal size. Go home take some pills, ice it down and go to bed. Get up at 5:00am to get ready to go, knee feels somewhat OK, swelling down, think ALRIGHT time to hit the road. 20 minutes into getting ready and it's all swelled up again and not working. Tried again at 8:30am and same thing. Beautiful day for riding and can't even walk. So if everything goes as it ussally does by Monday knee will be fine like nothing happened and just wanted to ruin the weekend. So no more planning, just last minute moves, seems to work better. Ok I'm done whining. Hope everyone having a good time at MD.
  23. Hey all, just a general notice, that some of us Ontario Members will be heading to Deals Gap, on a 4-5 day road trip, Sept 21. As of right now, it is Dragerman, Rob (forget his forum nick) and myself. This trip will be during the week (Monday to Thursday or Friday) as it was suggested that it is better to ride the Tail of the Dragon, during the week. In September most of the kids will be back in school, so tourists will be at a minimum. This trip is in the very first stages of planning. I am announcing it, for 2 reasons, to find out if anyone wants to come with us (or meet up with us along the way) and to get suggestions from some of the members here who have been there. I am really looking forward to this trip. I am sure before we go, we will get together to discuss the trip in detail, and finalize plans. Ok, so who is interested? Being interested does not commit you to the trip. Once we figure out some meets to do planning, I will announce them. I would be happy if there were 6-8 bikes going, the more the merrier I guess. Feel free to drop Dragerman, or myself an email or PM. Lets git 'er done!
  24. The cable that hooks to your Garmin 2720 so that you can hear it thru your speakers, is it still available and if so what is it called? They have discontinued this type so I didn't know if it is still available. How exactly does it work? I have the cable already mounted to the back of the radio in the flaring. I was planning on buying the 2820 but if you can purchase a cable for the 2720 then I will just buy it instead because it is cheaper.
  25. Planning on a 9-day trip out west. Need some ideas on how to pack for two.
