i will try to keep up with some pics of this install. here are some with the new stator installed and wired. i eliminated the small harness alltogether. it was fried anyhow. pretty simple, pos to pos, neg to neg, yellow to white. same with rectifier. only problem ive had so far, is i ruined the case cover gasket last night. ordered a new one ( thanks again earl). i should have pre-fit the cover first. didnt go on as easy as it came off. also, the shift rod likes to go upside down and messes up alignment. make suke you are aware of its original position. the new stator has an extra set of windings. guess thats what makes it better? parts of old pics too. as i wired it, i cut off the old wires for reference. helped out. didnt want to mix anything up. -

This has been a good fall (weather wise) for riding. At least it has been for me here in the great state of Arkansas.... I haven't been around this site very long but it seems there aren't many ride reports with pics. I for one enjoy reading about member rides and seeing the pictures from other areas. I found that the top edge of my stock windshield was right in my line of sight and I either had to stretch my neck and/or sit up straighter to look over it or slouch down a lot to look thru it. Was a real PITA so I decided to cut it down 2 inches. i put a set of polk audio db 401 speakers in the front and rear of my rsv, last year and never got around to posting pics. here they are and i hope they will help you. purchase some wire terminal ends that fit the speakers before you start the project along with some two sided tape to reatatch rear arm rest covers, and note that the screws under the rear armrest are different in length. solder all your connections e-mail with any questions?? mike

I have been searching for a detachable tour pak for my 07 RSMTD for 6 months - i've seen several attempts here on VR - but none that i really liked. A friend & I spent about 8 hrs. in the shop today laying out the template for a detachable tour pak. we finished the template (poster board) and our next step is to fab it out out light sheet metal to confirm fit and finish. next we will take the template to our local laser cutter to have the real detachable mount cut (.0125 steel). We have a friend in Fla. making & shipping the 'U' 1" round tube which mounts to the bottom of the tour pak and to the top of our detachable mount. We went to the local Harley dealer and purchased some docking hardware and ordered keyed locking mechanisms. This is going to be a real sweet setup when done. Once this project is complete i intend to post pics of the procedure to install hardware and pics of the finished product. If there are any interested RSTD'er who might have an interest in the product, let me know ( i know this is a little premature considering i have no pics to post yet ). i am hoping to have this project done over the course of several weeks - this will be a first class mounting kit with or without the actual tour pak - i'll keep everyone posted. I expect that some might ask if this detachable system will work on RSV and honestly i don't know anything about that bike, perhaps others who have much more knowledge of the similarities and differences between the bike could shed so light. -
We went to Augusta Wisconsin and picked our new 1984 Venture do these cycles grow on people once they get one they have to get 2 or three. I wasnt sure just what to expect to see when I got there have been on my share of misinformed quests before but was very pleased when we got there, and what we found there is a treasure trove of parts for the first Generation Ventures I would say anything there would be for the 84s there are boxs of parts. I will be getting a complete list and pics of the parts. I told her I had joined this club and there is alot of good people. She lost her husband in June and is selling off all of the parts he had gotten over the years she is a very nice lady and it would be nice that she is treated the same. I will have some pics in a couple of days of the Venture and some more information as what all parts are there and prices. Have a great day Orlin

[ATTACH]61075[/ATTACH]I know some will say, "why?". I've wanted one prior to getting the rstd and finally took the leap. Found an 07 w/abs with 35k miles. Any how, i'll try it and see how it goes. If it doesn't work out it's gonna be an rsv or gw. Part of me hates to part with the rstd....and I may or may not regret it, time will tell. Will post pics when I get home with it.

I've been here for a bit and finely got around to posting some pics of my '83 Roayle. She was a non runner when I got her in March. I got the important systems up and running, like the radio. Still more to do. This is my second Venture. The first one was an '83 standard which I sold about 6-7 years ago, still can't figure out why I sold her.
