  1. HELP! This security warning (see pic)is driving me nuts. It pops up about twice on every new page whenever I am on a site that requires ANY security at all....such as PayPal, Banking, etc. I using VISA Home Premium with Service Pack 2 , and IE 8
  2. We wish to purchase an item on ebay, and they don't ship to Oz. Is there anyone near GEORGIA that can help us?? [We will paypal the necessary funds]
  3. This is just a note letting those that might be interested??... I've received a couple of PM's from members who didn't get the word about the last of the Fork Braces So.... I just ordered another 10 Braces. They should be here the first or second week of October. Since I didn't want stick my neck out, and order 50 for max discount this time around, the price is going to be a tad more. $67 for the US, and $77US for Canada, and that's shipping included. Still a pretty good deal, and I don't have to sit on big bucks for over a year. That got old quick. So if anyone else wants one and missed out, here's your chance. Shoot me a paypal for the amount paypal@cast-aways.com and I'll get the brace headed your direction as soon as they come in. With the paypal, include your VentureRider.org 'handle' in the comment box.
  4. Hello, I need some advice, I am selling my 1985 Yamaha VR 1200, I am asking $3000 firm. A person emiled me and wants to ship my bike to Sounth America but to do this he has sent me $3960.00 via paypal. This $3960 is on a hold till I make a $960.00 payment through westerin union to the shipping company with my OWN MONEY. Do you think this is scetchy? From the guys trying to buy my bike: "Before i make the payment, there is something i need you to be aware of,i just received an email from the shipping company that will be in charge of the pick up.They are saying i need to pay them their fees which is $900 before they proceed with coming for it and the only form of payment that they accept is Western Union Money Transfer.Where i am,the nearest union office is 8hrs where i am overseas,I dont know if it will be ok,if i include this agent's fees in the payment i will be sending you now,so on receipt of the total funds, you will remove the additional funds of $900 and help me send it at your local Western Union office.Let me know if this is ok and i will proceed with the payment." shortly after this email, I didn't even get back to him yet and he already put the $3960 into my paypal. I feel he is sort of pushing me into the situation where I have to make the $960 payment(with my own Money) to a shipping company that I do not know and the shipping company picks up on Sundays?. I do not not how W.U. works but i know how paypal works and i know with few clicks of a mouse that $3000 could be back in there bank. Any input will be greatly appreciated, Brendan
  5. OK folks, I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on the changes to the forum. I have held off because some folks do not use PayPal and had mailed checks and money orders. I think that I have received most of them. Everybody who has paid should be marked now as a supporting member. You should see "supporting member" beside your username in any post that you have made. You can also see it in your UserCP at the upper right, across from your username. If you have paid and are not marked so, you need to let me know today. If you mailed a check but I haven't yet received it, let me know and I'll go ahead and mark you paid and trust that it will get to me. When I make the final changes, probably tonight, registered but non-supporting members will no longer be able to post messages. Even as I type this, I'm not sure exactly what areas will be open for read only but some will certainly be for members only. After the change, any new people who register will get a 15 day free trial. At the end of that trial, they will be automatically moved to the non-supporting group. So, if you have paid and are not marked as such, please let me know today. If you want to pay and haven't done so, go to your UserCP and scroll down until you see "Paid Subsriptions" in the left menu. Click on that and follow the instructions. You will be able to pay via PayPal. You do not have to be registered at PayPal to do so. It will allow you to pay via PayPal, credit card or ECheck. Thanks, Don
  6. I have wanted to open a paypal account, but have avoided doing so because I don't want to give out my bank information. I've decided to open another account and maintain a modest balance in it...my question, is it a checking account required by paypal, or can it be a savings account?
  7. Well I guess there is nothing like a mild threat to get things rolling and PayPal helped get things taken care of. I've used PayPal for a long time and never had a problem with a supplier or eBay seller and had to file a dispute. I placed an order for $147.18 with a company back on 3/17/10 for parts on a bike project. When I checked out I saw they had PayPal so I used that option. Over the last four weeks there have been 4 voice mails left on their system with no reply, 4 e-mails sent with no response, and only two occasions were I was able to actually speak with a human only to be told they had problems with their supplier, yada yada, and the next time on 4/7 that they still did not have the parts for shipping and MAYBE sometime later in the month.......maybe. Weird.....before I placed the order they comfirmed that they had EVERYTHING in stock for immediate shipping. So during that phone call on the 7th I canceled my order. The owner stated that he was canceling the PayPal payment and would refund the amount to my PP account within 24 hours. Let see......from 4/7 to 4/15 ......is more than 24 hours right? Another phone call that went to voice mail with no reply, another e-mail requesting the status of the refund......no reply again. So late last night I opened a dispute file on PayPal. Wrote a nice note to the company stating my position and requesting that it be dealt with to avoid a claim. figured it was worth a shot. Not making any progress with these folks on my own. Stopped by the house before noon today and checked my e-mails. Got one from PP stating my dispute had been canceled. What the hey? Just opened that sucker last night. Checked my PP account and what did I find? $147.18 refund. In less than 14 hours at that! I guess the idea of a PP claim against them wasn't something they wanted. Lil do they know that would have been better than me stopping by with my hickory stick. Was getting to that point. So score one for the good guys. Ok.....vented..... Mike
  8. Don when we pay subscription dues using Paypal, can we go to personal tab choose an option that way paypal will not get any of the money. Would this be a problem
  9. Last week I posted About poor customer service from JP Cycles concerning an order delay. I cancelled the order last Wed and asked them to return the payment to my PayPal acct. I was told it would take 3-4 days. Checked PayPal acct today and no money was sent. Called JP and was told it takes a while. I asked her when it was processed for return and she got quiet for a minute and said it was processed this AM! So, why did your company sit on my refund all week when it should have been returned right away? It was bad enough to be mislead and delayed on my order. She said that PayPal dont do transactions over the weekend. Told her I used PayPal on weekends all the time and that was a lame excuse. Told them I was finished with them for good. Got into my e-mail and guess what.... there was a confirmation email stating the refund is being processed. It was time stamped at the time I was talking to her. To recap: Delay my parts that was supposed to be in stock then drag their feet on the refund..........One sure way to lose anyones business. They sure lost mine!
  10. Is anyone else experiencing any problems logging on to PayPal, I have been trying for over an hour and cant get onto the site, system keeps timing out...........I am trying to send Rick Butler a payment.
  11. I have received the sample of the tool that will allow the tightening of the fork bearing nut with a 3/8" torque wrench. It came out extremely nice. The part measures to within .002" of drawing. There are no signs of overheating or bluing from the laser cutting. Specification for steering head nut torque initial value is 36 ft/lbs. I tried tool at 65 ft/lbs. and it worked fine with no sign of deformation. http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af193/gdingy101/PICT5202.jpg The procedure for setting steering head torque is outlined in the service manuals beginning with the 1986 manual. This is under Periodic Inspection & Adjustment - Chassis - Steering Head Adjustment. Also, if you are the proud owner of the MKI (83-85) Ventures, you could use the procedure outlined in the 86-93 manual. If you need a copy of this procedure I can provide it for you. The tool will work on any year Venture. The same part number is shown in the part fiche from 1983 through the RSV's for the steering head bearing nut. The tool will also work on 1st gen VMaxs & FJR's The tool is laser cut from 1/4" thick, 304 stainless steel, mill finish. I can supply this tool at a cost of $23.00 including first class shipping to lower 48 US & Canada They will have the tools ready for me by Friday, February 12, 2010. I will start shipping as soon as I get them. I can order more at any time. If you would like to order one or more my paypal address is gary@dinges.com. I will see the paypal transaction in my email. I can also accept check or money orders. PM me for address. Please mark payment as a personal transaction. Paypal does not send your address to me when it is marked a gift. Please include shipping address & your screen name in Paypal transaction, comments field. Attached are pictures showing the finished tool. Gary
  12. Not sure if anyone else is getting these or not but I've received 2 e-mails from appears to be Paypal. Something about someone was using my account fraudently. Both e-mails were very professional in appearance with none of the typical misspellings when it comes to phishing e-mails. I didn't hit the links but e-mailed paypal directly from their website. They responded back very quick saying that the e-mails were indeed fake and they were aware of them and are working on them. Just a warning here.

  14. These mugs are now SOLD OUT. I will let you know if I decide to offer them again in the future. I have just ordered 72 of the VentureRider travel mugs. They went by up by $2.50 per mug from the supplier. They actually wanted $5.00 per mug more than last time but I finally negotiated it down to a $2.50 increase. Shipping has gone up some also so the price this time will be $24.50 within the USA and $25.50 to Canada. These prices include shipping. Some may agree and others not but this is the best mug I have ever owned. They claim that they will keep your drink hot for up to 6 hours and I can tell you for sure that it keeps my coffee plenty hot for at least 4 hours. Folks, this will possibly be the last time that I am able to get these mugs. They are a bit hard to find now and even Amazon shows the MoJOE to be "unavailable" and it says they do not know if and when they will have them again. There are a few places that I've found them online but only one place that I've found them that will print them with our logo. So....this may be your last opportunity to get one. I only order 72 because there just didn't seem to be that much interest but a few people really one so I went ahead and got them ordered. They should ship to me in about 12 days and then I will immediately get them out to you. Please start paying when you can. You can pay via PayPal to dk_nelson@verizon.net Please note that there is an underscore between dk and nelson and that the email address is verizon.net, NOT venturerider.org You do NOT need a PayPal account to pay via PayPal. You can pay with credit card, debit card or E-Check through PayPal without an account. I will try to keep you updated on how many are sold and how many are still available as we go. SOLD OUT!
  15. As some of you know, about 5 or 6 years ago someone got into my paypal account and went on a spending spree......Since then I refused to use Paypal..........everything worked out ok as I recouped my funds..... but, I didn't ever want to go thru that again.......Since I started handling orders for the club..(fleeces and shirts), some of you have requested that I use it again........I resisted this and vowed never again.......I felt very bad that the club lost orders because of me....sooooo, today I opened up a new account.....anyone wishing to place orders and use this payment may do so as of now.........please pm me with your order stating all the required information........and remember all proceeds from the orders goes to VENTURERIDERS... I TAKE NOTHING FOR DOING THIS...... TJL7509@yahoo.com thank you all in advance........... I PM'ed Freebird this info and he will be adding it to the merchandise forum when he can...
  16. Ive had some people asking about their numbers....they misplaced, forgot...whatever. In a nutshell.........the tickets are 2 part......your numbers are on both parts......the part that will be detached and put in the bucket for the drawing also has your name..both real name and site name on it.( this was done as they were sold) When you check in at the rally....we can give you your stubs from your tickets if you want them..... In all reality there is no real need to know what your numbers are other than a "comfort" need. let this also be a reminder if you want raffle tickets and are not attending.......better get em today or tomorrow..... I was going to keep accepting raffle ticket orders thru paypal up until the day before the drawing but have decided tomorrow will be the last day for paypal sales on them. I have enough to keep straight without checking my emails for sales while im at the rally, besides i wont have a computer just my phone for emails. Those attending will still be able to purchase trailer raffle tickets there, aslo the raffle tickets for the st judes drawing for the 2 one of a kind belt buckles. addy for raffle ticket sales thru paypal is vrrally2009@yahoo.com simply state trailer or st judes with your payment.....please also include your vr site name.. I will also be taking down the registration website tomorrow ( sat) night.
  17. well I had to remove the raffle ticket option from the registration page this morning....seems paypal does not allow the sale of raffle tickets, etc. violation of their policys......i had to do it or they could close my account. i guess the big issue was having payment buttons for paypal associated with it. I could have left the raffle ticket info on there but had to remove their payment buttons so if anyone wants to purchase raffle tickets for the 09 rally yet thru paypal you will need to send payment directly to vrrally2009@yahoo.com 1 for $10 3 for $25 the St jude raffle tickets for the belt buckets are 1 for $5 3 for $10
  18. Several people have asked so I have started making replacement lowers for the lower wind vents on our 2nd gens. The cost is 35 which includes shipping. They are available in smoke, clear, and black . I have to make these as you order them so expect them a couple of weeks after you order . You can paypal me or send a check. buddyrich at ebmc.com is the paypal. Didn't use the @ symbol so the spammers don't pick up on the email address. Pics attached
  19. Anyone who needs to back out of the rally from this point on please read this. T shirts and patches have been ordered and paid for at this point......so if you have to back out for some reason it would be appreciated if you would still keep your tshirts and patches and of course your raffle tickets. Dinner has not been paid for so that can still be refunded. We can recalculate your payments to reflect no dinner and send you a check for refund if your paypal / credit card payment is more than 60 days old. If your payment has been within 60 days i can refund via paypal, otherwise we will loose the paypal fees and loose more by refunding. It would be like like loosing the fees twice and you would loose fees by getting a payment. thanks!
  20. Just scrolled down the page to the ebay items for sale and saw an XXL bike cover (to suit the RSV) for sale for 99c - Buy It Now. So I did! Will be shipped from China (what isn't these days) and freight to Australia was $20. Now, that's $20.99 which through PayPal equates to nearly $US35. Still a bargain I reckon. What the heck. I'm fairly confident it'll arrive safe and sound, and if it doesn't I'm protected by PayPal. Anybody else purchased a similar item through this system? Any problems encountered?
  21. Does anyone have an extra knob that fits the CB radio on a lst Edition? I am missing one and would gladly pay someone for whatever it may be worth to them (PayPal). I probably could find a replacement at an electronics place, but I doubt it would match. T Thanks
  22. This change does not go into effect until 2012, but you may want to stick it in your something to remember file. Effective 2012, the IRS will be receiving payment information from charge card companies ANDother financial entities such as PayPal. While the intent is to track folks that may be running off the book enterprises, they will also be able to see who is living beyond their reported income level. This can come back and bit a few of us in the butt. Like donations made to Don via PayPal for maintaining the site would have to be claimed as income. Folks who are receiving payments for the purchase of raffle tickets, registration fees, etc... will have to claim that as income. So, just a word to the wise....
  23. OK folks, this was brought to my attention by Cinderella. Many of us use PayPal but they have pretty much been the only player in the market and in my opinion, have continued increasing their fees to the point that it is getting a bit crazy. There is a new online payment processor named "Revolution Money Exchange". It was originally founded by Steve Case. If you join up now, they will pay you $25.00 for doing so. This is not a scam and if you search for "Revolution Money Exchange" you will find a lot of information about it. I just joined up and within minutes they had deposited the $25.00 into my account. So why is it better than PayPal? They charge NO fees for sending or receiving money. Here's another good thing. If you join you will get $25.00. If you join through the link that I am providing, they will also donate $10.00 to my account to be used to support VentureRider. It's a no loose situation. You get $25.00 and you also donate $10.00 to the site and it costs you NOTHING. Check it out. If you don't feel comfortable with it, that is fine but I feel good about it or I can assure you that I would not have signed up. I certainly plan to start trying it on any of my Ebay auction and etc. and to use it as an optional choice here for donations. PayPal will still be available for those who wish to use it. So, check it out if you wish. Please click on and use THIS link to ensure that the $10.00 goes to VentureRider.org FREE to register for an account FREE to add money from your bank account FREE to send money FREE to receive money FREE to request money FREE to transfer money to your bank account
  24. First let me say, this is NOT meant to be hitting anybody up for donations. While donations of any amount are always appreciated, they are not required in any way. The purpose of this post is to clear up any confusion about HOW you may donate if you so choose. There are a couple of ways you can donate to VentureRider.org. The money is used to help defray my costs of running this site. Software licensing fees, hosting fees, etc. The simplest and most basic way to donate is to click on the "Donate" button on the far right of the upper menu bar at the home page or here on the forum. When you click that button, you will get a page where you can enter whatever amount you choose to donate and then click the "PayPal Donate" button and it will take you to a PayPal login page where you can complete your transaction. You do not need a PayPal account to use this method. You will see a place to login to your PayPal account if you have one but if not, you will see a link to the left of that that says "Don't have a PayPal account" and if you click on that, you can still donate using any major credit card or an e-check. The second way you can donate is through "Subscriptions". You will find this method in the User CP or via the "donate" button in the right menu. In the User CP, just scroll down until you see the link for "Paid Subscriptions" in the left menu. Click on that and you will see several options from which to choose. There are recurring monthly options as low as $2.00 per month. The monthly subscriptions are automatically deducted from your credit card or account each month. There are also options for yearly subscriptions. These are NOT automatically recurring and you will simply get an email the following year reminding you that it has been a year. Again, this option uses PayPal as the payment processor. The third option is the old fashioned way. Simply send me a PM or an email if you wish to donate via a check or money order and I'll send you my address. Again, you are NOT required to donate in order to participate in this club. Those who donate and those who don't have the same full access to everything that we offer. I fully understand that money is tight for many people and I would NEVER want anybody to donate if they are not financially able to do so. For those who can, it is always MUCH appreciated but for those who can't, I consider your participation here a donation in itself and thank you for it.
  25. OK folks, I have had a number of requests from people who would like an easy way to donate to the support of VentureRider.org and also be reminded of such. Please understand that any support continues to and will ALWAYS be 100% optional. There are now a couple of ways you can help. In the left menu of the forum and the home page is a button that says "Subscribe". This is good for people who do not use PayPal as you can pay by credit card, bank account, or PayPal. It is a recurring $2.00 per month subscription plan. For PayPal users, there is also now a "Paid Subscriptions" option in the UserCP. Just click on UserCP and scroll down to Miscellaneous. You will see "Paid Subscriptions". You can the choose an option of monthly or yearly. At this time, you get nothing extra for helping support the site. Just please know that it is much appreciated. For those of you who have already donated due to the recent server change and even before that, thank you VERY much. You can't know how much it helped. I will also be sending out an email and HOPE that none of you consider it spam. As I said, this is in now way mandatory and whether you choose to help support the site monetarily or not, I am sincerely happy that you are a part of our group.
