  1. Saw a nice looking Venture trike outside of the Beaufort air show today.
  2. Tried out the Honda DN-01 today weird bike, nice looking but an automatic and really small? http://powersports.honda.com/street/crossover.aspx
  3. Yes, it's true. I'm ashamed to admit it, but there it is. My best friend, from all the way back in high school, (40+ years ago), a man who's a retired Army major, finally came out and admitted it. Yes, he's a flaming Chromosexual. Told me he had bought a new bike and that he'd be coming by the house. Well, I looked up and there it was, a shiny new Hardley Ableson ElectroTurboDynoHydroSuperHydroGlide with the Sqawkin' Chick'n package. I could hardly see it for the glare, but I think everything on it is chormed except maybe the tires:confused24:. There must be Chromium miners all over the world celebrating everytime HD sell's one of these:whistling:..... Seriously, a new HD Ultra Classic with the Screamin' Eagle is a pretty darn nice (and sharp looking) bike. And it rides Nice! Dang though, I'm glad I'm not the one stuck with polishing that beast...... And the price...$33 large...Yikes!!!!! Oh well, different strokes for different folks. Wouldn't it be a dull world if we were all just alike?
  4. Can someone upload a pic here of what the cable looks like from the cb to the tuner on a 1st gen? Good pics of the ends would be nice too. I am trying to buy one and I want to make sure it is what I will get. Thanks y'all!
  5. Guys and girls we may have a new NY member shortly. He rides a Harley so I told him you guys would be nice to him and ride a little slow so we didn't lose him on the rides. He rode with us last year on the fingerlakes ride but headed home in PenYan. Remember BIg Tom play nice.
  6. You guys seen the new 2012 Goldwing. I may be late with this but I had not seen one before. Nice looking bike but looks a lot like a BMW. Lot of creature features. Not for me but nice. BOO
  7. Ride a 2007 RSTD. Want to replace the front floorboards with pegs; the purpose is so my heels can drop which will lessen the pinch/strain in my hips. I've been looking and asking, with no success. My current option is to cut off the back of the front floorboards. That will get me the drop I want. It would be nice if there were a different solution. Any suggestions? And no, not new 'forward controls'. Way too expensive, and won't solve the issue. Thanks.
  8. just got off the phone with dave at f4 windshields....and wanted to say how nice they are there and what they're doing for me.....i have a clearview windshield with the vent.......i need the tallest windshield out there and f4's is 1 inch taller than the tallest clearview....i already have a vent so they are shipping me the shield with the vent hole cut out, and a new faceplate, around.....plus 10% off......nice to work with ...the clearview people are good too....

    software

Dingbat here must have throw away the wrong set of disks for re-installing software in case of a "problem"; so now that I have purchased a new hard drive I can't re-install windows XP Tablet (OS). I've been trying to find a place where to get it (free would be nice) but am having no luck. Any of you Techies know where to pick a copy up?? Thanks
  10. The PMS is killin me so.... Forecast today is for SUNSHINE and high of 7 celcius (that's 44 f .... wasn't that nice of me to do the conversion for ya?) We're goin for a RIDE!!!
  11. I searched for Missouri in hopes it would yield some members close to me, but did not that I could find. I am in North East Missouri. New London specifically, Hannibal is my neighboring town most are familiar with. Looking forward to some nice rides with my wife this year. Would be great to ride along with some other Venture riders.
  12. Yesterday, was a beautiful sunny day here in central Florida. We were going to head out on the bike and explore some of the areas we haven't been to yet but some of the other folks in the park invited us to join them for a ride. Great idea, I thought, it's always nice to ride with someone who may know of some good riding in the local area. So we head out at about 12:15, stop to top up the gas tank and off we go. Sixteen miles up the road I see everyone (four other bikes with five people) slowing and turning into a bar. Maybe a great place to eat, I think. Nope, $1 drafts. OK, go with the flow, I'll have a diet coke. Half an hour later we're ready to roll again. Nice ride, seeing some different country and starting to enjoy the trip. Now what? Another thirty miles and now we're pulling into another bar. We don't want to be rude and I'm getting hungry so in we go. Again $1 drafts and just awful deep fried bar food. But it's a nice sunny day and we're sitting on a patio overlooking a nice river. An hour later off we go again. Four lanes, heavy traffic with lots of strip malls etc. After thirty miles of this we turn off the four lane on to a nice country road and start heading toward the gulf. We stop again but this time it's a nice beach area. The beer drinkers run into the restroom for a quick pit stop and ten minutes later away we go. Back into the traffic for about ten miles or so then a main two lane road but at least it's out in the country. Another thirty miles and you guessed it, another bar. By this time it's getting to be about 5:00, dark in a little over an hour and I've had enough bars. I gave everyone a honk and a wave and off I went. Hope they didn't think I was rude but if they did, too bad. I went back to the space shuttle, put my feet up and enjoyed a nice cold beer out on the patio.
  13. I like a nice shiny bike and i love the look of the amourall type of protectants on the tires to make them all nice and black and shiny, BUT I wont use it on the bike because I dont want to find out that the silicone has gotten onto the tire's tread by sliding out in a corner. I have found this new stuff that made in the US that claims they are motorcycle safe and are silicone free. Has anyone tried it? I was going to order some and try it out. http://www.renewprotect.com/main.html A you tube video on it too [ame=http://www.youtube.com/user/renewprotectvideo#p/u/6/hGmCdlGxBKc]YouTube - renewprotectvideo's Channel[/ame] Brian

    Trailer ?

Has any one pulled a Aluma, Nomad, or dart trailer? how well do they pull, & any problums with them. Just looking. If I could find a used one some where with in 500 miles of N.D. priced right I might need one. Would be nice. I know there are better ones out there but not spending that on a trailer. Thanks for your reply!
  15. I have a 1985 VR with the large top box. I bought a black backrest on ebay, but, it is for the smaller top box. Anyone need a very nice black backrest?
  16. I got to say, I wonder about how the brain fuctions for some of these wannabe bad boys. I came home from work this afternoon with an armload of groceries and found that when I grabbed the doorknob it felt odd. Not round anymore. More oval shaped. When I left for work at 4:00 AM it was round to the best of my recall. Taking a closer look it was smashed and the shank had scars on it like those of a channel lock or pipe wrench. Nice. Custom! The key hole had a piece of wire stuck in it and broken off. That sucked. I couldn't open my own front door. Called my security company and a locksmith. The security guy told me there has been a rash of attempted break-ins on my block. During the day most the time. No sucessful entries but they did try. The thing is there is a dead bolt right above the door knob. Guess they didn't notice that. And a quick look in the front window they would have been looking directly into the security camera (which was on and blinking) pointing at the porch. Not very observant. So the locksmith got me in and installed a new doorknob and rekeyed the deadbolt also. He was laughing because if the door had been opened they would have noticed the security chain for sure and the audibule alarm (95db) from the system and the stobe lights firing in every room. (I have a major hear loss so lights are my alert and defense) So I stepped into my lil office room and checked the cameras. Yep. Got him. No good shot of his face (damned hoodie) but he was fun to watch for like almost 5 minutes screwing with the door. But as he left I got a nice shot at the back of his hoodie with a company name on it. Nice and clear. I burned a copy for the security guy and another one for the LEO that stopped by. They enjoyed it. So I guess I'll keep my eyes open for a moron wandering around my area advertising for the lucky company. I'd like to introduce myself. Maybe with a pipe wrench to his knob. The sad part is....as he has not actually been able to sucessfully enter a home, the only thing they say they can charge him with is vandalism. And I live in a "nice" area. Just happens to be filled with idiots. Nuttin worse that a stupid crook.
  17. I'm going to look at a 1983 venture with California 2 sidecar this week. It has roughly 50k miles on her. The owner states they have put several grand in it fixing it up to near perfect. It has all the bells and whistles and supposedly everything works. Pictures look good. There is no leading link for the sidecar though. He says his bottom dollar is 3700. Seem reasonable? I may ditch the sidecar if I really like the bike but have trouble steering. I'm coming from a new Harley ultra classic which is nice, but not nice enough for the payments I'm making. Any thoughts are appreciated. He did say the transmission has been fixed I saw that was a problem on these forums.
  18. I believe this has been mentioned here before, but if you haven't looked at it there are some really nice bikes. Just for giggles I entered Ol' Blue. http://www.starmotorcycles.com/star/StarVBS/StarVBSImages.aspx?id=7&pg=1&y=c
  19. So I wake up this morning and the temp is just a touch over 30. My looonng gravel driveway is "finally". free of ice so I think I'll take a little ride. Fire up the bike and head out. Temps are cool, but I'm dressed to ride and am nice and comfortable. Go around a curve on this road I've ridden 1000 times..I'm not flying low, but I'm not dogging it either. Just a nice brisk pace, and there, right in the middle of a curve I see ICE, with water on top..ALL the way across the road for a distance of about 20 feet!!! (Broken waterline!) Holy Cr-p batman!! Well, I slithered through (thank the Good LORD!) without dropping it, so me and the bike are both ok, 'cept for that wrinkle in center of the riders the seat I'll have to try and remove somehow:scratchchin:.. Moral of the story is ALWAYS be extra careful in the winter. I was doing fine and found this on a day when every other place I rode was clear and dry. What a thrill!
  20. Whats a good half helmet to buy? One that you don't sweat in when it's 80 degrees, also has a nice bill on it..Thanks
  21. anyone ever ride or stay in paradise, mich?? were heading up there in summer of 2011 for a week and that looked like a cool place. It would be nice to have a heads up of what to see and what to avoid. thanx in advance.
  22. Well the title says it all. With all of the hype about the coming great white death, gloom and doom, etc etc etc... There is less snow on the ground now than when the storm started yesterday. The 40-50mph winds are interesting though. All of my nice snow went away, those bums in MN took all of the snow for themselves and didn't leave any in the storm to share.
  23. I had yet another nice visit yesterday..Aimhigh and his lovely wife stopped by and took Debby and I out for lunch..Got to see his new GoldWing..Nice Blue color..I think he is going to put on some accessories..I got that feeling as he wasnt taking pictures of my GW,just each accessorry..The economy surely must be about to pick up..I think I will invest in Wingstuff stock. Thanks Jim and Belinda! Tom and Debby
  24. I know there are several here who have painted their bikes with non-stock colors or paint schemes. I can't keep track of everyone who has. It would be nice to have them all in one place. If you have repainted your bike with non-stock colors, throw a picture or two in here.
  25. today at 4:00pm i have a meeting with my lawyer to talk about an offer of possible settlement of a long 3 year battle of workers comp case. im not sure what the $ offer is. but i had 2 torn minicus repairs a back injury that they gave me over 7 injections in ans it,s still not perfect. but healed fair. as for the knee. it will need a replacement in the future. as bone is now on bone.. im hopeing. to get enough to pay off the 5 grand on my car. maybe enough to get another bike? so i can work on the venture some more. i hate to say with these first gens a back up bike never hurts. there too big for litttle jaunts around town. so was thinking if all goes well today and i find out if we get the settlement by spring. a nice yamaha 650cc or 1100. yamaha vstar would be a nice. run around bike. so wish this oldgoat some luck. as this year has realy sucked for me.
