  1. Does anyone have an idea of who's riding from the west..past Illinois to the Rally.I figured it would be nice to ride as a small group.
  2. Ok, so I get home from work on Thursday around 5:15pm and it is 58 degrees out...I change and get comfortable and I walk around the garage and decide to unveil the beast....I take the cover off the bike and admire its beauty for a few minutes...Hey, maybe I'll fire her up............One touch of the starter and varooom, the beast is alive !!!!!! I let the girl warm up for a few minuted and shut off the choke....let me check the tire pressure ....ok I add a pound in the rear tire and also the front...man, is it nice out....WHAT THE HECK.....I'll take her out for a short spin around the block and flush the cobwebs out of her...so I grab my leather jacket and my helmet and gloves and a cool pair of shades and I'm off........Man does this feel so good...I mean the wind in my face and all...you know what I mean...Well, the around the block ride got longer and longer and about 35 minutes later I find myself stopped at a red light in the town of Lancaster....Man I'm am so happy to be out, YEAH this feels so good....I mean this is so cool...Well I glance to my left and a sheriff's car pulls up up along side of me....I glance over and realize its a deputy I trained years ago...I smile and wave ,he does the same....HE DOESN'T RECOGNIZE ME WITH MY HELMET AND SHADES ON....I think he does when he rolls down the passenger window and says......"NICE SLIPPERS RIDE SAFE".....WHAT..!!!!.... Oh C&&p... Now I hope he didn't recognize me...What a sight to all the cagers I must have been....BIG BAD BIKER IN HIS LEATHER GET UP WITH THE FLANNEL PJ"S AND BASSET HOUND SLIPPERS WITH THE EARS FLAPPING IN THE WIND.......
  3. Women always say that giving birth is way more painful than a chap getting kicked in the testicles. Here is proof that they are wrong: A year or so after giving birth a woman will often say, "It would be nice to have another kid". You never hear a man say, "I would like another kick in the nuts". Case closed.
  4. Finally finished installing a Alpine amp, and speakers. And i am pleased with the results it nice to cruz down the inter state at 80mph and here the radio nice and clear with out all that distortsion. Speakers are Alpine SPS-400 140watts peak - 45 wattsRMS and the amp is a Alpine KTP-445 45W RMSX4 It took some doing but finally have it in and working. Its only 2.5"WX1.75"HX7"L so it fit nicely in the front farring. It comes as a plug in to the Alpine stero so i had to cut off the plugs and Hard wire it. And that was the worst part of it.No wire diagram for the amp. A 2hr job that took 4days.
  5. Hello: Does anyone here on the site have experience with a Nissan Murano? Time to replace my wife's vehicle, she found a one owner local trade at one of our local car dealerships. 2004 with 79K. Excellant condition, SL model with many nice features, new tires. $11,000 is their bottom dollar. We kept it overnight, seems very nice. Runs good, very comfortable. Grandson of course liked the rear overhead DVD entertainment center. Thoughts and advice appreciated....
  6. A buddy of mine is getting ready to sell their '99 Miata ragtop - - cherry condition, 88K miles, glossy black, custom rims, leather interior. Looking to get $7,000 for it. I am sooooo tempted, but I'm afraid that I might like it as much as my RSV and be totally conflicted on nice riding days! The maintenance and insurance cost would be a lot more, but it's a really pretty little car. A definite head turner. What to do, what to do?????
  7. We are brand new to the RSV. We took one out for a test ride at a dealer's and I know it was more cushiony than ours is. Ours is a 2006 RSV. It has the stock seats, which are nice to us (compared to our cruiser Mustang seats, which weren't nearly as nice) but I find the ride a bit rough. On the one we took for a ride, he hit the bumps and I barely felt it in my back. Can someone please tell me how to adjust the air to make the ride softer for the passenger? We are getting the manual but don't have it yet and I have no idea how to read what it's set at, where it should be set, what's better, higher pressure or lower pressure, etc. I want as soft a ride as possible for my back's sake. Hubby and I aren't light so I want to be sure we don't hurt the bike, either. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
  8. well as some know on here i go up and do some work at the homeless shelter. i handed out hats and gloves today with the other staff members there. i did not stay for dinner. but here is how my day ended i met a nice gentleman by the name of steve olson. he is veteran from the vietnam war. he is homeless. well i been talking to steve for a long time. and got to know him as much as he was willing to share with me. he tould me how he got divorced and hard times fell on him. he left his only child behind when she was 17. he never made any type of contact with her since then. he said he,s to ashamed. so i asked him what her name was? i was surprised he told me. well last night i took a chance and looked on face book for a karen olson from dayton Ohio area i found 3 and then i sent out a message to the 3 of them asking if i may ask if they have a dad named steve? well i got an answer from a nice woman in her mid 30,s that said yes she did have a father by that name. but thinks he passed away? as she has not seen or heard from him in years. i said this might shock you but i think i know where your father is? and i went on to describe him. she was all excited and asked if he was ok? i said yes as much as i can tell hes ok. he stops in at the homeless shelter every night here. she said she realy would like to see him. so she is headed up here friday. and asked if we can make sure he does not know. and that he stays in the area. i think steve is finaly going to go home.
  9. Well I finally did it. I took out the cassette deck & gutted the box of the inards. Then cut out some sheet metal to cover the bottom and added a backstop that goes back about 3". Did that since you can only get your hand in just so far and wanted to be able to reach whatever ends up all the way in. Also covered the inside with some nice black vinyl material I had on hand. I thought of saving that cassette assembly & build a box but who would want one. It was just easier altering the exiting box and not having to fabricate something for the door. For sure now I'll get some use of that part of the bike. Larry
  10. Hello Everyone: Weather here in W. Nebraska was very nice today. Sunny and warm, temps in the 40's. I got called out on a service call this afternoon. I mentioned to my customer that it was almost nice enough to ride my bike. That started the conversation, I soon learned my customer and his wife just enjoyed their first season on a Yamaha VStar 1100. I mentioned this wonderful site to them. They wrote the website address down and hopefully we will see another member on here soon. I love my job and the fact that I meet new people everyday.
  11. A few weeks ago I found a set of Hopnel accessory bags listed on Ebay. They were double ugly but I went ahead and bid on them anyway.... and I got them cheap.. After receiving them I used Farnam's Leather New on them. I wasn't sure if they were leather or nauga hide, but figured what the H.. Below are the Before and After pics. They came out pretty nice... They came off a '99RSV so now all I have to do is figure out where they were mounted??
  12. It was a great day to get out and ride. Sunshine and temperature in the mid 60's and sure was nice to feel the wind in my toes....
  13. I am thinking about buying a new RUGER SR9C pistol so i'm wondering if anybody has one that can give me any info good or bad about it. It comes with a 10 & 17 round mag. It has a lot of nice safety features.
  14. Bought a Fender Guitar in an SKB hard case with some sort of electronic tuning gizmo, like new, for $100 bucks. Don't know how to play, but it will look nice sitting next to the Ibenez I picked up last month..... So... anyone else pick up anything interesting at an auction lately???
  15. Couldnt find any info on this. my seat is just way too uncomfoprtable after many attempts at repairing and adding foam. I found a nice pillow top electra glide seat that I have purchased . Waiting for it to arrive so I can modify it to fit.
  16. Was never one for facebook, and didn't bother with it at all. Then B2Mom & B2Dad's granddaughter asked me if I would "friend" her from Australia. So I joined, and the bonus has been to "talk" to some VR members as well Was just talking to Gary & Mary Nantais, and to GAWildkat :clap2:......... NICE
  17. Don't know if this is the right place to post this or not, but do any of you guys know of a good trunk rack for 2nd gens? The one from Star Motorcycles is expensive and, frankly, looks a little small. I'd like to spend a little less money, and I need to know that what I'm getting will fit a Venture. We're going on a 2 1/2 to 3 week trip next summer and a little more storage room would be nice. We've gone on the road for two weeks before and getting everything inside the hard bags is a tight squeeze sometimes, and we travel light! Ride Safe! 1/2crazed
  18. So, I've learned what to pack and how to pack from the great posts on this site, but the better half is still looking for a little more area. On one of my rides I saw a HD with a small strap on piece of luggage that hooked to the saddlebag rails. It was about a 16x6X4 high. I thought it might be a nice place to put glasses, gloves, sun tan lotion and such. Any body seen such a thing, or know where to find it?:think:
  19. ting these next weekend. I think these will look nice and add a safety factor. http://www.rivcoproducts.com/products/product.php?productid=558&cat=199&page=1
  20. THANK YOU! ... for all your efforts to keep the peace on this site ... you're doing a GREAT job! I say this as, since getting my Wing, I have been spending a fair amount of time on a "wing forum" (not mentioning which one) ... and I just can't believe all the flaming and bikkering going on there ... it's crazy ... there's at least 3 guys who are constantly at each other's throats ... kinda hilarious to read their posts as they "battle it out" LOL but it sure is nice to not see that here!
  21. We went to Augusta Wisconsin and picked our new 1984 Venture do these cycles grow on people once they get one they have to get 2 or three. I wasnt sure just what to expect to see when I got there have been on my share of misinformed quests before but was very pleased when we got there, and what we found there is a treasure trove of parts for the first Generation Ventures I would say anything there would be for the 84s there are boxs of parts. I will be getting a complete list and pics of the parts. I told her I had joined this club and there is alot of good people. She lost her husband in June and is selling off all of the parts he had gotten over the years she is a very nice lady and it would be nice that she is treated the same. I will have some pics in a couple of days of the Venture and some more information as what all parts are there and prices. Have a great day Orlin
  22. Happy Birthday Dave hope the weather and work is nice to you today. Jeff
  23. I went for a nice long ride today. Had to go to Bancroft and it wasn't supposed to rain so I figured I'd take the bike. I jumped on the 84 ...(Class is still not fixed on the 88) but only after putting on about 6 layers of clothing including the rain suit Then I headed out for my 2 1/2 hour ride in overcast and 6 *C about 9:00 am It was a cool but nice ride. After I took care of neccessary business I rode home about 3:30 in bright sunlight (still only about 12*C or( 54*F) But the leaves were amazing. I rode past some large rock faces, many many lakes, and it was nearly all nice winding (some twisty) country roads. I took about 15 pics (I know the rules) but now I cant' find the cable to connnect my phone to the PC I"ll try again tomorrow afternoon.
  24. Did the photo shoot today for the Bagger Shield and I got my new windshield! Looks great, nice breeze with it down. Haven't ridden enough yet with it up to make any comments. Here's the pic......
  25. Ok, I'm gonna start chasing people. My daughter called me a week or so ago and asked me where I was going in such a hurry. Seems she had been following "my" bike on I-80 and was trying to catch up. Didn't happen. Thing was I was in the rack at the time but but walked out to the garage just to make sure. Nope....not mine. So in the last few days I have seen a nice Blonde MKII 4 times in Council Bluffs and Omaha ALWAYS going the other way either on the Interstate or a road I couldn't do a quick turn around on. Three time solo and the other day two up westbound on "L" street. So.... Bill W., was it you? I can't remember if your's was a Blonde or not. If not, I'm gonna snag us a new member pretty soon. 1st gens are pretty thin around here and ones in nice shape are even thinner. There is one I see quite a bit and it looks like he's added more duct tape every time I see it. Pretty soon it's going to be "that gray Venture". Anybody we know? Mike
