  1. Just picked up a used 06' Midnight Venture. Wow. What a nice bike! The knucklehead before me used a screwdriver and can opener on the muffers for his version of modification. Now I'm looking for new mufflers. Any thoughts to brand, type, etc? I want it to sound healthy but not obnoxious. Thanks
  2. My '83 Royale has the typical rusted-out tip on the left muffler. I read some of the previous postings concerning Jardine and Mac mufflers. If they aren't being made anymore (as was indicated in one post), are there other options? Thanks
  3. Hello All, I have an opportunity to trade with a stealership, straight across, a set of BUB sleepers from a 07 RSTD with 4900 miles for my 05 RSTD stock mufflers. They say that they cannot sell the bike with non-EPA mufflers. Are those running BUBs happy with the tone and performance? Does seem like a no brainer. My star does have some pop on decel and I am sure more noticeable with the BUBs. Might force me to look at the rest of the exhaust for leaks. Thanks
  4. Just wondering if these mufflers would work on my venture. There from a '80's Yamaha. These are for sale in my city for $45.
  5. I am installing Road King mufflers on my 83 Venture Royale.I had no trouble getting exhaust pipes between the muffler and the manifold. My question is does anyone know a way to fab the rear brackets?I have an idea but am looking for other options. Also can the mufflers be drilled out or will it cause problems? With the new mufflers on it sounds pretty good but is still quiet. If they can be drilled out, what is the best way?Any help would be much appreciated.
  6. Are the stock mufflers for an 83-85 different than the stock mufflers for the 86-93? If they are, what is the difference? Is the earlier ones a tad shorter than the 86-89?
  7. If anyone needs new mufflers for their G1 Venture, (at least I think these are for a G1), they should try Niche Cycle. According to their website it looks like they still have MAC turn downs in stock. I was under the impression that there wasnt any mufflers being made any longer for the G1 bikes so this might be a good opportunity if your pipes are getting worn. I dont know anything about this company, I just looked at the website, so check them out before ordering, and make sure that they are for the G1 bike, not the G2. http://www.nichecycle.com/ProductDesc.aspx?code=004-4315&type=0&eq=&desc=Yamaha-Venture-Turn-Down-Mufflers Brian
  8. Is there anything to do to the stock mufflers to get some noise or can the baffles be removed and how hard is it
  9. Sorry about any redundancy on this subject but if I don't ask, I don't know. I'm a new venture owner and trying to absorb as much info as possible. Just obtained HD mufflers with the following part #'s 65591-07 and 65592-07. I seem to remember reading something about not using the the ones ending in 07. Can someone shed some light on this for me. Is it related to having cats and if so, would I still be able to use them if I removed the cat. Thanks, Al
  10. I ran Dark Side on my VTX1300 and really liked it. Found a BFGoodrich Radial T/A 155/80R15. Mounted it. While working on that I also found a set of Road King mufflers. Just finsihed putting them on tonight.. Looks and sounds great.... Road test tomorrow....
  11. I am looking for a set of stock mufflers for a 2000 RSV. Does anyone have a set they could part with? And, am I correct in assuming that any year from 1998 forward would fit my 2000? Thanks, dana
  12. My "new to me" '03 Wing has Cobra mufflers on it. Just wondering what others are running and what ya'll think about them?
  13. Well here comes another thread about mufflers. I have been experimenting with different mufflers on my 2006 RSMTD. I bought a set of HD mufflers here on the site. Got them & installed them on the bike. I liked the sound, but it wasn't as loud as I really wanted. So I read about all the mods that have been mentioned & tried here on many threads & posts. I considered all of them & decided I didn't want to mutilate what the factory had built as the best engineering possible at the time. So I found another set of slip-ons here on the site, (Thanks, Doug!! ). They are Rush slash cuts. I got them about 2 weeks ago & have been so busy I didn't get them put on until today. WELL, let me tell you these pipes are EXACTLY the sound I was wanting. They remind me of my first pickup with a V-8 motor, (1963) I put dual glass-packs on. Great sound on acceleration & not too loud just going down the road. If you want them to be quiet just back out of the throttle, & if you want some noise just give her the gas & let it wrap. Well anyway I am REALLY happy with the new pipes & will put the HD pipes on my 2000 RSV MM. They will be just right for the RSV that my wife & I ride 2 up. She's not in to the noise. Thanks for all the info I have found here including the drawings for the adapter plate for the HD mufflers & the whereabouts of the HD muffler clamps. C Ya, Patrolman46
  14. Hello I am in need of a set for my new project. I picked up 2 Ventures for parts one had been dumped and busted one side of the faring up not bad but more than a easy fix. I have been looking at it and thought it would be a waste to part it out if it ran so I put in some fresh gas oil and plugs and it started alittle more tunning and it runs great. So I took the faring off the other put on this one and took a test ride. Glad I gave it a chance to be on the road again but it is way to loud the guy I got it from did a real hack job on the mufflers. If I can find a pair of stock mufflers or some aftermarket ones that would finish it up except for its new coat of paint this winter. Thanks for any info. Orlin
  15. Hello board members I'm looking for someone in Mi that may have Harley slash cut mufflers that will work on my 08 RSTD without having to rejet or anything. I just want a little louder sound. I would also look at any other sugestions for what you might have. I would like to be able to come and pick up if not to far so if anyone in or near the downriver area of Mi let me know. I would also like to know what number HD mufflers I would ask for at a HD dealer to go on my 08 RSTD without changing anything if they would even have any. Thanks, Joe
  16. If anyone is interested in a set of stock mufflers, I have a set I took off my 05 two or three years ago and replaced with a set of RK's...I will bring them down to MD with me..I am asking 50.00 for them...if interested give me a shout...
  17. I was thinking of replacing my mufflers with some aftermarkets. Has anyone replaced there's or have any ideas what i could use? 18. I bought a set of Bub mufflers off craigslist and love the sound. The tips are flaking. Has anyone sanded down the chrome and painted the tips with a high temp paint? They might look nice with flat black paint. I know I can buy new tips.
  19. Had a few questions I was hoping someone could answer: Will any Harley touring bike mufflers work or are the Road Kings prefered? Can they be any year, I understand newer ones have a catalytic converter in them, does this affect sound or my RSVs engine? Will adding these mufflers require any engine adjustments? Are the brackets sold on the classifieds page still being made? Thank you for any assistance!!!!
  20. I currently ride an 01 Vulcan 1500 with baffled Corbra drag pipes. I LOVE the sound of the bike. I've read that the RSV with the right mufflers sounds like a V8. How do you guys with aftermarket mufflers find they sound? If I like a bike to have a distinctive sound would I like a V4 with pipes? I realize a v4 won't sound like a single crank pin V-twin. I've ridden an RSV with stock and debaffled stock mufflers. They were both on the quiet side for my taste.
  21. I'm looking to possibly replace my stock mufflers. Problem is I don't want to have my ears ringing after a 30 minute ride, or bust other folks ear drums (unless I want to announce my presence). I want a deep heavy rumble at idle with a loud bark if I open'er up. Any suggestions on what type of mufflers to buy, and is there possibly a you-tube site that I can get an idea of the sound? Thanks in advance!
  22. I've been enjoying the thread the was just revisited about drilling out the stock RSV mufflers. Got me to thinking about my Road King mufflers and wanting to get them a bit louder. I've read all the threads I can find, but I'm still not getting it for some reason. The thread about the stock mufflers has pics, so I was finally able to get my head around that process. Can anybody offer any visual help with the RK mufflers? I'd like to do mine if I can figure it out.
  23. Took some video while we were out for a ride last Sunday. gives a good idea of what the Khromeweks sound like. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpPHqx8HKvw]YouTube - RSMV with Khromewerks mufflers.[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ywc5lSK99o0]YouTube - RSMV with Khromewerks mufflers - passin by[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzK6a4_bN0E]YouTube - RSMV with Khromewerks mufflers - In the saddle[/ame]
  24. Hi folks! One quick question. I took the mufflers off to replace the rear tire and want to know if the gaskets are an "always replace" item or if they can be reused. They're stuck pretty good on the pipe but overall look smooth. I want to get a no leak job, can I use the gaskets over and simply remount the mufflers? Thanks! Jim
