  1. What MP3 player can I get that plugs directly into the radio and work well? What kind do you have and how does it work? Good things you like? Bad things you don't like. Kids want to get me something for Christmas and that is all I can think of. Steve
  2. I removed the tape player and created a small storage compartment I also installed a duel plug-in for mp3 and whatever else. My question is: I would like to know if anyone has purchased or made a handlebar or other type mounting bracket for the mp3 player? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

    Yamaha mp3 player

When I bought my 2008 Royal Star Venture last April I received a Yamaha mp3 player and the problem I have is that I must have misplaced my instructions for it (and the driver software?). Does anyone have this unit who can tell me what I need to get this unit to work. Thanks

Hi fellow riders i have a 99 RSV i was consedering installing a MP3 player is their a way to permemantly install this player if so how is that done? Thanks Tim
  5. Thought some of you might be interested in this. Its posted at "thinkgeeks.com" Looks like a niceclean and portable MO3 solution for the Venture antiquated cassette ? http://www.thinkgeek.com/images/products/front/standalone_or_car_cassette_mp3_player.jpg http://www.thinkgeek.com/images/alt-image-zoom.gifZoom http://www.thinkgeek.com/images/alt-image-more.gifMore Images Will the cassette tape ever die? In between the beloved LP record and the now familiar CD, there was another music media format - the cassette tape. It was very popular during the 80's and one thing that definitely made it standout was that, unlike a LP, you could easily record onto a cassette tape. Before that your recording options were primarily limited to reel-to-reel tape machines, which were usually pretty large and sometimes not so friendly. Being able to record onto cassette tape also lead to the ever popular "mix tape" - which was usually a collection of kick ass songs you'd give to your wannabe girlfriend or someone else you were trying to impress. http://www.thinkgeek.com/images/products/other/standalone_or_car_cassette_mp3_player_embed.jpg This MP3 player is built into a standard cassette tape, letting you use it as either a uniquely old-school-style MP3 player, or with any car cassette or cassette player to play your music. You will have no problems listening to hours of your favorite songs via the built-in SD card slot, and you can easily change to different songs if you have multiple SD Cards. If you are into retro style looks but with a new technology upgrade, this is a MP3 player worth adding to your gear.
  6. Has anyone tried to hook up a Mp3 player to the existing radio on a first gen. I have a 92 model. Seems it may be a good replacement for the AWSOME casset player! ....Dave
  7. Cassette players are so.....80's! Is there anything I can use to replace this worthless chunk of weight. I would really like something simple like an MP3 player, and have it work with the existing intercom system, heck while I'm at it I'd ditch the CB too.
  8. When I bought my 83 Venture, the previous owner had (butchered) installed a BOAT radio/cassette in the left glove box area. I suppose he thought it was a good idea at the time. I am very seriously considering pulling out his installation and going with a later technology - such as an MP3 player accessed from a handlebar position... with an amplifier mounted out of sight somewhere. So I come to y'all ---- Anyone have a recommendation on a MP3 player that can be used in a motorcycle application?? Weather issues to consider? Some/any MP3 players have radio AM/FM built in? [note: some of my friends ride their Harlies while using an MP3 player in their vest with noise-blocking ear-buds... but some states prohibit headphones and other types of ear-passage-obstruction so I lean away from that right now.] Any recommendations on an decent amplifier??? My speakers are the 4-ohm 100W variety one on each channel up front on the Venture. How about some kind of an audio panel or passive mixer/switcher to be able to also hear the CB radio audio? Those available? I have little... actually no experience in what it would take to make music heard over the noise as I cruise. Any and all ideas are very welcome!! Thanks!

    MP3 editor

I need to increase the volume of MP3s. I am a little deaf and while sitting the volume is enough but with wind noise I have to have the volume all the way up and that still is not enough. The radio volume is around 15 but Aux is all the way up and not enough. Any one know a good program that lets you adjust the level on the MP3 when you copy. Thanks Rod
  10. Actually a couple of questions. My computer does not have a SD card slot. Can I put the card in my Zumo and download music with the USB cable? Does anyone know of a free site to convert WMA music files to MP3. I read that the Zumo only plays MP3.
  11. I am loking at buying the Zumo 550 and just have a couple questions I can't seem to find answers to on the web. Will the Zumo wire into our radios the same as an MP3 player or XM radio? I have read a lot about bluetooth headsets or ear buds but want to just plug it in to the radio. If it does plug into our radios will the MP3 play in stereo? Is it worth the extra money for the 550 instead of the 450? Bluetooth is not as important to me but I like the XM radio. Is there any cheaper option than almost $200 for the XM radio antenna? I now have a seperate XM radio and a MP3 player on the bike, neither of which is waterproof. I'm just looking at one thing that will give me the GPS plus the other features. Thanks for your input.
  12. I guess my laptop is toast. The screen just decided to shut off after about a minute. I started it back up and it does the same thing. Took it to a repair shop and they said the motherboard is starting to go out. I think Ruth is feeling abandoned since I have to go upstairs (we have a desktop in the den) to yak on VentureRiders. Has anyone bought a laptop lately? I mainly use mine to surf the internet, download our pictures, and music for the MP3 player. Guess I need to re-educate myself on what all those specifications mean. I have a Dell laptop that is about 3 to 4 years old. Doesn't the new Vista operating system eat up a lot of memory?
  13. Have any of you that have a Zumo 550 noticed a drop in volume when listening to mp3 or XM thru the Zumo? When I am listening to FM or to my mp3 player I usually have my volume set at 17-18 but if I switch to the Zumo and listen to mp3s or XM I have to turn the volume up to 27-28 to get the same sound level. Is this normal:confused07:
  14. Ok now , there was vynl , then reel to reel , then 8-track , then cassette , then CD (on which many here wished the RSV had) . But by the time they put CD on the RSV , will CD be outdated ? Will we have MP3 players installed , where we will buy SD chips or similar ? Anybody holding there breathe ? BEER30
  15. anybody have any ideas on a location to mount a mp3 player on the 07 RSV? i'm not going to install a CD player for the mp3 will hold a lot more tunes.
  16. Those of you who use MP3 players on your bike - could you answer a question for someone (I won't mention any names, but, yes, it's actually me) who doesn't know anything about this new-fangled electronics stuff..... I bought a 8G MP3 player. I understand that they sound best if you rip your music straight from CDs at a minimum 160 Bitrate. I own approx. 115 CDs, and according to the info I got with the player, it should hold them all. I've started ripping the CDs to the computer using the highest quality, constant bitrate of 320. I'm approximately half way through and the computer says my music file is already well over 10G! Do I have to rip the CDs at something less than the highest quality? I figure with the speakers on my Venture, I'll need the best sounding music I can get. Is using a Constant Bitrate the problem or is the 320 the problem. I don't want to have to delete everything I've already ripped because it's been extremely time consuming. Thanks for any info.....
  17. So, In redoing My '87 VR. I didn't want to even deal with the stock Radio/CB/Intercom -- outdated, didn't even know if any of it worked. so it's gone. Now, I am thinking we will use Chaterbox for intercom. But would like to be able to hook MP3 player up to the stock speakers. Where would be the best place to start on this? I guess I would need an Amp to do it? D
  18. I'm looking a buying a new MP3 player for use on the bike. Anyone have good luck with one they'd like to share? I currently have an old cheapy that's going south and doesn't like to work right anymore. Here's my list of things I'd like: 1. Low to Medium price range. 2. No video needed 3. Minimum 2g memory 4. Good battery life OR 5. Able to plug into outlet on bike. Thanks for any imnput, suggetsions, etc. Have a great day.

    David Mann

If you like David Mann art work then you know this is not for all. PG-17 and up. The song is good also. I love this man's art work and I for one will miss him. I have an MP3 file of the song if you want it, just need your email. Enjoy [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogez_3_EHSg[/ame]
  20. I wonder if anybody has removed their tape deck from their 2nd Gen RSV, and replaced with a CD player or found some type of MP3 player that actually can be modified to fit behind the tape deck cover. I dont know who uses the tape deck out there, but I never have on my bike. I have no interest in the cd changer option... and current plug and play my MP3 player through the plug in.... Anybody know if somebody has done anything like this??
  21. Installed radio and speakers on bike. They sound really good with the mp3 player and radio both. Here are a few pictures. http://venturerider.org/forum/image.php?u=2000&type=sigpic&dateline=1179298656
  22. Just put some JM's in mine and wife helmets. My wife's bike does not have a radio. Anyone know of a way (adapter cord) to connect the 5-pin to an MP3 player?
  23. I am looking for a set of speakers that will mount on the handlebars of a VStar that can be used with an MP3 player. I have been looking thru Ebay. Anyone know of any good ones or made their own?
  24. My wife wants a GPS for Xmas & it looks like everyone uses Garmin, are there any models with problems, as for options, I dont need bluetooth or mp3 , must be able to program on the road, Thanks Gambler
  25. This is an MP3 player mount I threw together last weekend. It turned out pretty good I made it from some scrap aluminum I had in the garage and formed it around some wood blocks I cut to the size I wanted the tray to be. I made another form from wood to make the bar clamp, it only took a couple of hours to make.
