  1. All members I have 2 Baron tachometer's 1 is a 3" white face for handle bar mounting. The other one is the Baron color changing brake reservoir mounting system. See picture attachment for style. Brake mount one is slightley used and the 3" is new. Just decided not to use. Joe First with money gets it or them.
  2. Seems like several of us are purchasing this trailer. I'll be picking up mine, tomorrow. Look forward to putting it together. Where and how are you mounting a spare tire on this trailer? I'd prefer to have a spare, in case the gremlins pop up. Any ideas or pics? Thanks, Pistol Pete
  3. Well I ordered Kumho 195/55/16 Run Flat for my Gold Wing, It will be here tomorrow. Looking forward to testing this CT out when we have the Rally in August. From what I read and the comments here,I bit the bullet and bought the Kumho. If Its anything like mounting runflats on car wheels I know I will not like it that much . Garage just bought a new tire maching at work so I will give it a try, it is one of those fancy mounting machine. Let every one know how things turn out.... Buddy
  4. Hi everybody--I sure enjoy learning from all of you as my '83 is now running like a watch. It was a basket case project and now the puzzle of mounting the body parts. Does anyone have pictures or send me to a resource that shows how the panels are mounted to the frame?? Thanks in advance. Hank
  5. I purchased a mounting bar and passing lamp off of E-bay for my 08 RSV. Either I have over looked the instructions or they didn't send any. I am an electrician so the electrical part is no problem. I'm looking for the mechainical instructions. I've searched for a thread with mechanical instructions and didn't find any. Found a lot on the electrical side.....that doesn't mean there isn't one, I just couldn't find it. My questions are: 1. How do I incorporate the blinkers? 2. Exactly where does it mount? 3. Mechanically, how much time should I plan on spending mounting the lights? Any advise would be appreciated.... Thanks!!
  6. I've had it with the m/c tires . Am getting a Kumho for the rear and could use some advice on mounting it. I do not have a mounting machine and probably not the correct tools. My Metzler is missing a chunk. Sure wish I had a lift. If anyone near Dallas can help it would be appreciated.
  7. Getting the Kumho, as I am done with the crap they make for bikes. Now, if onle I had a lift, the right tools, and a mounting machine. Anyone in the Dallas area that can give me a hand? It would be appreciated.
  8. I broke the mounting tab under the gas cap door off so I need a new one. I would really like to find a black one so I don't have to paint it. If you have one let me know. Thanks.
  9. I just bought a set of Billet Passenger Floorboard Backing Plates (STR-4NK27-03-01) from YamahaSportsPlaza. I received them but before opening them I noticed the mounting holes don't match up between the new & stock pieces. According to the vendor, these are the right parts for my 06RSV. I must be missing something cuz I can't see how they'd work without drilling a hole in it, which I'm not gonna do. The attached photo shows the two side by side. Notice how the mounting holes don't match up. Anyone have these? Is this the right replacement part?
  10. Okaaay here is the question. After pricing tires with mounting, when I came out of shock I decided to order the tires (E-3's) on line. Now my queestion is do any of you folks in the Houston area know anyone who mounts the tires. I am going to get brave and take the wheels off myself, the links on the forums seem to suggest that it is possible even for a non-mechanic like myself. The best ptice I was quoted was $442.00, OUTRAGEOUS.
  11. I recently bought a set of used Yamaha leather slant bags, complete with mounting hardware. They were installed on a Road Star. I think the mounting hardward is different for a 1996 Royal Star but I can't find pictures to confirm. The Yamaha website just shows the bags and not the mounting brackets. Can someone show my pics of the brackets for a 1996 Royal Star?
  12. Saw this on a dune buggy that was powered by a bike engine. Minor machining to adapt flywheel to back side of pinion yoke. Make starter support good and solid. Looks like it would work on anything with a driveshaft providing you have a mounting point for starter.
  13. I recently bought a Garmin Nuvi 260W. I like the unit and going to use it on my bike when we go to Branson in May, and a longer trip in August. What type of mounting system are you using to mount on your bike ? Where on the your bike ? Pictures please. Thanks Steve
  14. I removed the tape player and created a small storage compartment I also installed a duel plug-in for mp3 and whatever else. My question is: I would like to know if anyone has purchased or made a handlebar or other type mounting bracket for the mp3 player? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks
  15. So I'm in the process of installing a hitch on my bike. The pictures show how far we had to tear it down to put the thing on, and amazingly from start to finish it only took a couple hours. Our next step is to do the wiring, which is a really sweet deal because it's all plug and play - minus the actual trailer coupler of course. I have to say, Bustech did a top-notch job with their wiring setup and installation instructions. The trailer I have is equipped with electric brakes. I, along with the guy helping me do the install, was hoping to find a brake controller that could be mounted both vertically, and NOT parallel to the direction of travel. Well, vertical mounting isn't a problem, I just have to pay a little extra for a nicer unit, but it seems every controller I find has to be mounted parallel to the direction of travel. Makes sense I guess, since most of the nicer ones are inertia based. The reason we were trying to be so picky is that on the right side of my fairing, on top of what would be thought of as the gas tank, is a "glove box". That's where on these bikes they install the CD player and radio that I opted not to buy. It's weatherproof, accessible from the saddle, and fairly good size. However, I don't believe it's wide enough to mount a brake controller without sticking it in there sideways. So chances are I'm going to have to mount it somewhere else, in a weatherproof case. So does anyone have any recommendations on a good, compact brake controller, or any thoughts on mounting? (I know that latter will be hard since most of you probably aren't familiar with my bike.) At first I was thinking some sort of flat, radar-detector type, mount on the handlebars, but i don't know if the extra motion from the bars will screw up the sensors in the controller.
  16. I recently saw a used RSV at the local dealership, the previous owner had replaced the saddlebag mounting screws with screws that had knobs on the end, thus ending the need for the allen wrench everytime you want to remove and clean behind the bags. I haven't found them anywhere. Anybody got any suggestions? Trooper
  17. Okay folks, since I have to wait 2 1/2 months to pick up my scooter, been doing a lot of shopping for accessories to personalize my ride and one of the latest desires is to fly a flag from my ride. A few questions: 1) Which is more preferable? Mounting a seperate flag pole (to a trunk rack) or hooking them to the antennas? 2) If you clip them to an antenna, what is the largest recommeded flag dimension you could use without having your antennas dragging on the road behind you while doing a buck-30? 3) Does mounting a seperate flag pole interfere with radio reception? And does the flag have a tendancy to wrap around the antenna? and finally, 4) Anyone know of a reputable retailer I could either pick up a flag pole or clips, either on the internet or locally (Southern Ontario)? Thanks again people! Man, this site is damn good! Bluez
  18. I am going to build my own trailer hitch. Can someone explain (or better-pictures) where to mount the hitch? Looks like the rear subframe for rear mounting point will work, but where should the front mounts be? Are the saddlebag mounting frames strong enough? Thanks
  19. Well, I finally got tired of the high prices of tires at the stealerships. Even if you get the tires online the shops want $60-$100 to mount my tires (after I've removed the wheels). So after reviewing articles here and elsewhere on the internet about the HF tire changer, Marc Parnes balancer, and MOJO lever, I've made the plunge to get them. I picked up the changer at Harbor Freight this weekend on sale for $98 ($49 each piece). The other pieces should be arriving this week. I'm thinking of mounting the changer on a 1/2 sheet of 3/4" plywood, so that I can remove it and store it easily. Has anyone got any experience with this method? I could put in concrete mounting holes, just thought this might be a little neater when not in use( no dirt or sawdust to get in the holes). Also, any other recommendations?
  20. apparent misadjusted signal-passing lamp bar...... has about an 1/16 inch between passing lamp housing and upper body work on right about 1/2 inch on the left. No apparent adjustment on the bar/bracket - does not appear bent Drifter02, You could try to loosen the two attach allen head mounting bolts on the passing lamp bar (behind snap on chrome piece on bar) and see if there is enough "play" in the mounting holes to adjust it where one can not notice the difference in the spaceing as much. If this does not work, you can enlarge the mounting bracket holes (drill the mounting holes out a little oversize) to where you can adjust it some. Mine are not exactly perfect either, but on mine you really have to stare at it to notice. If you need help, p-email me and I will call you. Also did anyone else buy a used under warranty and have difficulty getting card changed over for remainder? The Dealer should not give you ANY grief of transfering any remaining warrenty of the bike from previous owner to you provided there "IS" warrenty time left on the bike. If I go by your site name (Drifter02)..I assume you have an 02 model, and if I am correct..the 5 yr warrenty expired in 07 on that bike (if it is an 02 model). 2nd gen Venture's come with a 5 yr warrenty.. Actually, a short story, the 02 came from previous Kawasaki Drifter (2002) the newly acquired Midnight Venture is a 2006, dealer did the necessary paperwork, however was wondering if I would get a warranty card in my name or just use the one the prior owner left in the packet Hope this helps you. EDIT: OPS, I thought I was answering your post in the "Quote" section, and here I clicked on edit by mistake. After I posted I hit save, and realized I was in edit. Gosh I am so sorry I deleted a small part of your original post my friend...really am sorry.
  21. looking for the kind that clamps to the handlebar and has 1 or 2 swivels with a mounting plate or whatever to mount my XM radio.... someone got a link for where I can get one of these? Thanks
  22. Elizabeth just got a new to her 2002 Kawasaki 1500 Classic (6547 miles). It had a nice looking light bar on it but no windshield. So we ordered a windshield, it came in today and I was trying to put it on. Turns out the lightbar is made by Jardine and it is in the way of mounting the windshield mounts. In looking at it, if I could trim off about a quarter inch from each side where it partially wraps around the forks, I could get the windshield on. I have never tried to cut a chromed piece though and am interested in any feedback one of you much more experienced folks would have. The first pic is the bike, second is the odometer (6500 miles on a nearly seven year old bike is criminal), third shows the mounting screw and area I would need to trim, the fourth is a view from the side with one of the windshield mounts.
  23. I purchased a set of Baron's Bag Slash slip-ons (BA-1030-00) for my '06 RSTD. When I got to step 6 in the instructions - "reinsert the OEM rear mounting bolt" I ran into a little problem - the OEM mounting bolts (one per side) are about 1.75 inches to short. On those pipes there is only one mounting bracket so I was at an impasse. I went to my local hardware store and located the bolts I needed: M10-70, Fine Thread, as well as (2) flat washers, (1) lock washer and (1) nut. When you install the pipes you will see that the spacer provided falls into the hole in the muffler mounting tab. To prevent that do the following: Take the bags off if you have not already (I have the RMark quick release things for this). Place a flat washer on top of the mounting bushing in the frame where the OEM bolt used to go through. Put the new M10-70 bolt in the hole. There should be a flat washer on the bottom of the bushing already. If not add one. Slide the Baron's spacer onto the bolt, slide a flat washer under the spacer. Slide the muffler onto the end of the exhaust pipe and put the mounting tab on the bolt. The flat washer should be resting on the mounting tab with the spacer above. Place a flat washer then a lock washer and then the nut. Tighten the nut to snug it up finger tight. Tighten the exhaust pipe clamp (you are now at #7 in the Baron's instructions). I placed my clamps bolt head down to prevent water from sitting in the heads. Follow the Baron's instructions from #7 on. When I saw that the OEM bolts were too short I did call Baron's who gave me a rough measurement of the bolts in inches. I spoke with Baron who said they would have the instructions (on the web and in the box) and parts kits checked to make sure all of the proper bits are in there. The pipes sound great on so all in all it worked out. Regards, gp
  24. ...during a big ol' T-storm at work. It was parked near the security guard shack; as I was walking out he asks me if I know who's bike that is. Yeah. Poor guy felt really bad for me; he kept apologizing, like he blew it over or something - hehe. A couple years ago I had a 440 lb, 600cc bike blow over, but it didn't lean very far over on the kickstand. I figured there was no way this 800 lb monster would blow over, but it did. In both incidents the bikes were covered - read, they had a sail attached, and they fell away from the kickstand. After the first incident I was paying attention to the prevailing winds, location of wind breaks, and which direction my bike was leaning while parked at work. Over time I kinda forgot to keep doing this. It was completely sideways. It musta hit the crash bars first (which did their job), but it had enough momentum at that point to keep going until the mirror and upper fairing near the mirror stopped it. It could be alot worse. The pavement was rough, so everything that touched down (mirror, fairing, crash bars) got a good roughing-up. Hiway bar just moved on its mounts, front crash bar had to be bent out a little, mirror OK except for scratches. The upper and lower fairing broke some mounting tabs and exacerbated some already-existing cracks near the mirror mount and the rear mounting point. It has Baker Air Wings. The wing is OK, broke off the mount at the nylon screws just like it's supposed to. I think the lower wing mounting arm is what hit the ground and caused the lower fairing mounting tabs to break. However, when I installed them I fabricated and installed extensive reinforcement and the fairing did not break at the wing mounting points. I rode it in again today. Partly makes me glad it wasn't pristine. The other part of me wants to fix and paint it and make it pristine. I'm certainly glad I wasn't on it and nobody got smushed. Oh well, nothing some more JB Weld and TIME won't fix. Just yesterday I was reading about PermaPoxy for fixing fairings. I think that was a bad omen :-) I'll have to go get some. Jeremy
  25. On the Delph Dark Side Forum some people are reporting "exploding tires"... Anyone have any problems mounting their CT? How much pressure did it take to pop the bead? I told my Buddy not to use more than 80 lbs... It seems most of the explodes have happened over 100 lbs although 1 user claims his happened at less than 100... There is some that are saying it only happens to the Japanese Tires... But I think that's some people's opinion.. Be careful mounting these tires as an explosion will ruin your wheel and rotor not to mention what it could do to a person too close... Noone is reporting any personal injuries as of yet. http://forums.delphiforums.com/DarkSiding/messages?msg=295.1
