  1. Since Rotella (Blue Bottle)is not specifically labeled for use in motorcycles will using it void the warranty?
  2. Any info on motorcycle tent camping at Martha's Vinyard. Reading up what I can about the island they seem like maybe they might not welcome motorcycles. Any one familiar with the area?
  3. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jM27fujbiXs&feature=player_embedded]YouTube - Will it Wheelie Mister??[/ame]
  4. It may have taken Yamaha to get it right, but they were not the first.
  5. well i went to the victory motorcycle web site and set up a demo ride at a local dealer. HA. Here's the email I sent Victory and have not heard 1 word back from the dealer or Victory. So I get up Wednesday and drive @ 50 miles or 45 min to Riders Ville cycle and arrived @ 10:30 1/2 hr early so I took the time to look around. As I watched one of the staff help another customer that was looking at a motorcycle he was interested in the staff member whose name I failed to get. He may have been the manager or owner for all I know turned to me and asked " are you two together" meaning me and the customer he was helping. I replied no I was here to take a test ride on a Victory. The staff member asked me witch Victory and I said the Cross Roads or Cross Country. He said to me "We don't like to give test rides on the Victory unless you can afford the down payment"at that point I said oh and he started to explain how dealers are going out of business form giving guys test rides who then don't buy and then they have to sell the demo bike at a discount bla bla bla. So I left and will not be back. 1st, I set this demo ride up in advance on your web site and Riders Ville cycle is listed as a participating dealer and they where the closest to me. 2nd, I go there only to be insulted by a member of their staff who assumed that because I was wearing jeans and a t-shirt that I could not afford the down payment on one of your motorcycles. 3rd I drove @ 100 miles and wasted close to 2 hrs of my day for nothing. I don't think or believe this to be a reflection on Polaris or Victory Motorcycles but I do think you should know how they treat potential customers. I have worked in retail for 20 yrs and I am currently a manager for a large company with stores across the US , Canada and Mexico as well as Asia and Europe and it ain't Wal-mart. I know that people aren't buying things like motorcycles and that every one that walks in to a shop should be treated with a little more respect. RESPECTFULLY, Patrick McDunn
  6. European description of avoidance technology for motorcycles... gone ALL wrong... http://biertijd.com/mediaplayer/?itemid=21816
  7. This occurred this AM about 11:00. http://www.wciv.com/news/stories/0510/734839.html?ref=em Mount Pleasant, SC - Police say two motorcyclists were killed in an accident when their motorcycles were struck and pushed into cars in Mount Pleasant on Tuesday. The Mount Pleasant Police say 50-year-old James Hines from New York and 80-year-old James Doucette from Florida died from injuries sustained from the accident. According to authorities, the two motorcycles were stopped in traffic near the intersection of 17 South and Anna Knapp. Police say the two motorcycles were then struck from behind by an SUV, which then pushed the two motorcycles into a car in front and then in to another car. Authorities say both men were in town for bike week. They were transported to MUSC where they died. The accident is still under investigation, charges are pending. Highway 17 south was closed for about three hours. ________________________________________________________________________ I got there shortly after they loaded 3 ambulances & headed on south into Charleston. There was a Harley laid over on it's left side with the aft end from the tank back under a large van (with the front of the van mashed......I think the pic in the article is that bike from the reverse angle) and what looked like 3 or 4 others on the ground with all manner of pieces bent & missing. I can't recall ever seeing that much bike debris....it was everywhere. The speed limit in that area (2 stoplights N of the Ravenel Bridge on Hwy 17 S) is 45 and is stop and go any time of the day; but especially that time of day. I'll stop short of speculating what the SUV driver did or didn't do and simply ask for prayers for all concerned. There were at least 6-8 other bikes parked a little beyond the wreck; I'm guessing they were part of a group ride and the 2 that were killed were at the tail end possibly separated from the rest by a car, but I don't know. All of the radio stations have been doing almost 1/2 hourly PSAs about watching out and reminding people that bikes are out in numbers......it's just not enough. Our presence just doesn't seem to be being made important enough to the rest of the driving public!

  11. I just sent an email to Jacksonville Daily News... I figured I'd post it here, and see what y'all thought... From: Henninger, Patrick Sent: Tuesday, March 23, 2010 2:48 PM To: 'jdnletters@freedomenc.com' Subject: 'Tis the season to pay attention. As the weather is warming up, and the skies are staying drier, people are spending more time outside, enjoying the change in scenery. Whether it’s to have a cookout, start a garden, go to the park, or just enjoy a weekend drive; more people will be on the roads. With this in mind, I’m asking everyone to take an extra moment, look a little harder and pay more attention. While many people are feeling safe in their cars, there are a lot of people like myself who are taking the covers off our motorcycles, and getting our gear together to go for a ride. I DO admit, there are many riders who act senselessly; squeezing between cars, popping wheelies, and racing down the roads, but I am not one of them. I am one of the overwhelmingly more present safe riders who keep our heads on a swivel, cruise around safely, and are always making every attempt to be aware of our surroundings while enjoying the freedom of two wheels. Even though we do everything we can, there are still people who drive their cars, trucks, vans, and SUV’s in such a manner as if motorcycles don’t exist, and it’s killing us. Literally. Read through this, and give it some thought. We’re not on motorcycles because we’re crazy… We ride because it’s a feeling of freedom that is inexplicable to a non-rider. Please put some kind of note, even if it’s a small one SOMEWHERE in the JDNEWS advising people to be on the lookout for motorcycles, since it is that time of year. I don’t know of any other way to get the message out to drivers, without another biker getting killed by a careless driver. Patrick Henninger Desktop Support Analyst Moen Inc. 12. The Lake Express Ferry just announce that motorcycles will travel free in May and June. Also, if reservations are made online, they will be free Sept and Oct as well. This is a great way to avoid Chicago traffic. My wife and I (and the Venture) have taken it a couple of times. Very nice. http://www.lake-express.com/newsletters/10MarMRF/index.html?utm_medium=email&utm_source=CampaignMonitorEmails&utm_content=990060759&utm_campaign=2010-MAR-MotorcyclesRideFreeKickoff+_+oitukr&utm_term=Clickhere RR

  16. Well, the better half and I are finally going to make it official next month and get married. We've been seeing each other for over 2 an a half years. Alot of first for both of us, she has kids and I have none. Alot of getting used to but it's the greatest now. She didn't like motorcycles, and now I can't leave without her. I'm so excited and can't wait until November 21. We'll be doing it in Luray, VA. Very private and quiet. Just her and I. How great it is when you've found that one.
  17. Four of us are planning to travel from Nebraska to Phoenix in early November trailering our motorcycles on a flatbed trailer. Does anyone have any experience or advice for doing this?
  18. http://harvestclassic.org/index.html Just wondering If anyone is going to go to this event in Luckenbach,Tx 10/23-24/2009 ? I went last year, not really a rally in my opinion but sure does bring back alot of memories seeing all the old motorcycles riding around and on display. I dont live far from there so I will be going to check out what bikes are there this year.
  19. While we were in Asheville across the mountain, we had three crashes that killed four on motorcycles and it appears all may have been the fault of the motorcyclists. There was a 13 year old with a 12 year old on the back of a trail bike came across the road in front of a Jeep, killing the two kids. There was a 40 year old that lost control and in another crash, a 22 year old on a sport bike that was speeding hit a guard rail. That is the basic info given at the moment. My first thought when the first anouncement was made before details was the people from our group going north. Then with the BMW rally here with an estimated 10,000 bikes, I thought about them. When the news guy finally came back and told what he did, I realized it was local people. RandyA

My latest article in http://www.thetentacle.com , a local (central MD) news and commentary site, is out today. Topic is shopping/buying used motorcycles. I'm privileged to be able to write about motorcycles for a nonmotorcycling site. So far I've had good reviews about this. 22. I see DKKnight traded his Venture for a different bike. I'm wanting to do just the opposite. I have an '07 Venture already but I also have an '06 Road Star Midnight. The Roadie is a great bike but I want to do a modified Venture StarGlide conversion and keep the '07 just as it is. And there is only room in the garage for 2 bikes. And I'll even consider a Tour Deluxe. If anyone is interested I have an ad in the classifieds under 'other motorcycles' or just click here to go there.
  23. I would bet that we see a similar two-wheeled scooter and then motorcycles before too long. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,506768,00.html

  25. Obama To Sign Sales Tax Credit For New Motorcycle Purchase February 18, 2009 - 02:38 PM http://www.wingstuff.com/files/blogs/00195_obama_tax_credit/tax_credit.jpg Tax Credit For Purchase Of New Motorcycles Thanks to the efforts of the AMA (American Motorcyclist Association) along with Harley and many others, this bill will be signed into law by President Obama. This historic motorcycle event will allow motorcycle riders to deduct their sales and excise tax with the purchase of a new motorcycle. It is now part of the presidents stimulus package that will help dealers sell more bikes. Historic Motorcycle Tax Credit Relief Bill Motorcycles will now be included as "Qualified Vehicles" in section 1008 of the legislation of this tax relief bill. Anyone purchasing a new motorcycle can deduct the Sales and Excise Tax Paid on their 2009 tax return. Prior to the latest version of this bill, Washington wanted to only apply this tax relief credit to the purchase of a new car or truck only. Thanks to everyone at the AMA, Harley and other groups who worked so hard for the motorcycle community, motorcycles have now been added to the bill and will be part of President Obama's national stimulus plan. Motorcycles Help Our Nations Economy Motorcycles save gas, reduce traffic congestion and have become a practical form of transportation worldwide. Here in the United States the highest percentage has always been for enjoyment and recreation. Abroad, most countries found motorcycles and scooters to be the smartest form of transportation, reducing fuel costs and traffic congestion. States like California, with high traffic congestion and smog in some cities have already passed laws allowing motorcycles to use the car pool lane as well as splitting lanes in traffic, provided proper speed limits are respected. So many of our own regular Gold Wing customers have been using their bikes as transportation to and from work for these very reasons. They are able to use the car pool lanes, get to and from work faster and save fuel while riding their motorcycles everyday and enjoying every minute of it. http://www.wingstuff.com/files/blogs/00195_obama_tax_credit/europe_bikes.jpg Motorcycles & Motor Scooters Abroad Visit countries like Italy, you will soon find the only way to get around the city is by motor scooter or motorcycle. It is also the only way to find parking due to lack of parking in busy cities. That trend has becoming more popular here in the United States for the same reasons. I recently visited Italy this past year and enjoyed seeing mothers riding sons and daughters to school each morning. Most were outfitted with rear trunks for storage, wind protectors and side bags to carry anything from books to groceries. This photo was taken while walking down a typical street in Florence, Italy. You soon realize motor scooters and motorcycles were the smartest form of transportation. Most business men traveled across the city on scooters, while most small cars were stuck in traffic. Besides saving gas and reducing traffic, motorcycles and motor scooters are the only way you'll find a parking spot in and around the cities of europe. The Future Of Motorcycles Motorcycle riding is a growing trend that will continue to grow into the future. With gas prices rising years ago overseas, it has always been a worldwide trend that saves fuel, reduces traffic, besides enjoyable. Bottom line, motorcycles are far more efficient than cars and help reduce traffic in busy cities. Safety features like motorcycle Air Bags such as the legendary Honda Gold Wing GL1800, as well as luxury features such as XM, Siruis Radio, CB, Cell Phone intergration, GPS, Intercoms, Heated Seats, Armrests, Drink Holders has created a comfort level for the rider and co-rider equal or better than driving an automobile. Motorcycles Bring People Together Saturday at Wingstuff is a good example of motorcycle people having a good time. There's always fresh coffee, donuts, bottled water and plenty of people to hang out with, and lots of Gold Wing accessories to browse. Locals typically arrange rides in the morning where everyone's welcome. What a great way to meet friends while riding with some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Joining motorcycle clubs like the GWRRA, GWTA and others are great ways to meet new riding friends. No other motorcycle has done a better job in creating friendships than the Honda Gold Wing motorcycle has over the years. We see this motorcycle tax credit in President Obama's stimulus package as a huge step towards encouraging more people to buy and ride motorcycles here in the United States. Post Thoughts And Comments Will this Sales Tax Credit motivate you to buy a new Honda Gold Wing motorcycle this year? Share your thoughts and comments, lets see what everyone thinks.
