  1. WE SEEN THIS AT 29 DREAMS OVER THE WEEKEND. GREAT PAINT WORK! :mo money::mo money: MUST BE NICE?
  2. Just added another Black Cherry ride to the garage. Worked awhile to get myself where I could afford something like this (for the unbelievers, the drug money is good!) Curt http://www.venturers.org/Forum/memberuploads/012_135.jpg http://www.venturers.org/Forum/memberuploads/august_calendar_3_283.jpg http://www.venturers.org/Forum/memberuploads/p3240006_190.jpg
  3. After much delibration I just couldn't see spending all that money for the yamaha air box covers, so I tried something else. Got $28 in it, what do you think?
  4. Check out this email I just got. I'M RICH. Now I can finally afford that second gen I've always wanted. URGENT BUISNESS PROPOSAL!!!‏From:Albright Anne P (AlbrighAnneP@JCCMI.EDU)http://gfx2.hotmail.com/mail/w3/pr01/ltr/i_yellowshield.gifYou may not know this sender.Mark as safe|Mark as unsafeSent:Tue 7/08/08 1:31 AMTo: Dear Friend This letter must come to you as a big surprise, but I believe it is only a day that people meet and become great friends and business partners. I am Mr. Ferrandod de M.J Luis,, currently Head of Corporate affairs with reputable Bank here in Spain . I write you this proposal in good faith, believing that I can trust you with the information I am about to reveal to you. I have an urgent and very confidential business proposition for you. On November 6, 2003, an Iraqi Foreign Oil consultant/contractor with the CHEVRON PETROLEUM CORPORATION, MR. KHALIL AL NASSER made a (Fixed deposit) for 36 calendar months, valued at US$27,500,000.00 (Twenty Seven Million Five hundred Thousand Dollars only) in my bank and I happen to be his account officer before I was moved to my present position recently. Upon maturity in 2005, as his account officer and as well the bank manger, it is my duty to notify him on the maturity date so I sent a routine notification to his forwarding address but the letter was returned undelivered. After sometime, I tried sending back the letter, but it was again returned and finally I discovered from his contract employers, Chevron Petroleum Corporation that Mr. Khalil Al Nasser died as a result of torture in the hand of Saddam Hussein (former Iraqi President) during one of his trips to his country Iraq, as he was accused of leaking information to the Americans. On further investigation, I discovered that MR. KHALIL AL NASSER. Family wife and two sons died during the Gulf War in Iraq and was the reason why he did not declare any next of kin or relation in all his official documents, including his Bank Deposit paperwork in my Bank and did not leave any WILL. This sum of US$27,500,000.00 have been floating and placed under dormant/unserviceable account by my bank management since no one have heard from the owner since 2005. I wish to let you know that all the investigation I have made so far, my bank management is not aware of it, I am the only one that have the information. With the recent change of government in my country and with their efforts to support the United Nations in check mating terrorism aid , the government will pass a new financial control law which will give the government authority to interrogate account owners of above $5Million to explain the source of the funds, making sure it is not for terrorism support. If I do not move this money out of the country immediately, the government will definitely confiscate the money, because my bank cannot provide the account owner to explain the source of the money. I cannot directly transfer out this money without the help of a foreigner and that is why I am contacting you for assistance. As the Account Officer to late MR. KHALIL AL NASSER, coupled with my present position and status in the bank as Head of Retail Banking Group, I have the power to influence the release of the funds to any foreigner that comes up as the next of kin to the account, with the correct information concerning the account, which I shall give you. All documents to enable you claim this fund will be carefully worked out and there is practically no risk involved, the transaction will be executed under a legitimate arrangement that will protect you from any breach of law, If you accept to work with me, I want you to state how you wish us to share the funds in percentage, so that both parties will be satisfied. If you are interested, contact me as soon as you receive this message so we can go over the details. Thanking you in advance and May God bless you Please, treat with utmost confidentiality. I shall send you copy of the deposit certificate issued to Al Nasser when the deposit was made for your perusal. I wait your urgent reply via my private email:ferrandodmjluis010@gmail.com Regards, Mr. Ferrandod de M.J. Luis.
  5. OK, some of you know I've been looking at scooters for my wife. She has a five mile commute up and down a mountainside to work and it would be a great way of a) getting her onto two wheels and b) save a lot of money in gas. So here's the question... There are a lot of Chinese/Korean off-brand scooters out there with 150cc versions costing around $1300-1800. She has wanted a Honda Reflex (250) for a while and we've been looking for one of these. The best we have found so far is a 2002 with 21k miles for $2850 and the price of a new one is in the region of $5200+. Is it worth buying a cheap off-brand, almost disposable scooter and throwing it away after two or three years and replacing it, or are we better to buy the known brand for triple the money? Other possibilities for known brand scooters are the Yamaha Majesty or the Suzuki Burgman. Both bigger, I know, and considerably more expensive, but I worry about safety and replacement parts. Fire away boys (and girls) !!
  6. Hi everyone, new guy here. I'm VERRRYYYY interested in buying an 07 or 08 RSV. My question to you is.... After owning one and knowing what you know now about the bike (problems,reliability,qualitiy,etc...) would you do it again?? If you would/woud'nt...why/why not? I'd really like to know of any inherent problems before jumping in w/both feet (and a bunch of money) Thanks for your input everyone.
  7. 11. In my quest for the (cheapest) right part I am needing to know the answer to one of two questions. 1. The place to get the cheapest replacement battery for the Venture First gen with hole for the battery sensor. 2. Best battery for the money and a way to bypass the sensor so it does not keep blinking at me. Any ideas?

    Battery chargers

I am probably going to be buying the Odyssey battery when the new riding season starts and was investigating battery charges. I am very interested in the CTEK battery chargers. Anyone have one, used one, have any comments about them? They look to be well made and only marginally more money then the others out there.
  14. I think I have the issue that so many have had with the baffles in the collector. When I start it there's a rattle. It's there when I rev and when I down shift but not on a steady throttle. If it's the baffles, can that cause anything other than irritation? If I remove the baffles and put the collector back together will that cause any problems? I would rather not spend the money on anything new if I can avoid it.
  15. Well, after an evening last night of prepping the office/ new work space, put the bike in there last night for the motor removal. Had to do some errands and work today, so about 4:30ish I got the final start on the engine removal. This was after an hours conversation with RandyA (Thanks Randy!) on the depth and scope of my problem and with great words of encouragement. To make a short project long, I went ahead and decided to remove the rear subframe and parts. I had long ago decided, and finally made the move, to strip and clean the bike. I mean, what the heck, whats another month in this process. Also, I believe the first time I meet you guys face-to-face, with a clean and painted engine, and a filthy and scratched frame and no maintenance done to it, I figured I'd be in TROUBLE!!!!! So like Dad taught me, if you're gonna do a job for yourself, do it all the way, do it right, and take three times as much as it should to get it done! Well, to make a brief history of it, here's Randy's diagnosis with just a conversation. I tend to agree with him. With it kicking out of 2nd only at high torque (WOT 1 up, riding 2 up, mid to 3/4 throttle), he has suggested that it may only be the thrust washer that is worn and may not be any damage to the gears themselves. It is my sincere hope that he is correct, so that more energies (and Money) can go towards other areas of the bike. For my initial investment of 600 bucks for the bike, and the money I've spent so far, I'll end up with about 1500 in her, with everything but a paint job done. I don't believe that's too bad a deal. But, I emphasize, it is not done without the considerable help and time of people from this site that has made it possible. That part is incalculable. But the time I spend working on my bike will only help me understand the finer workings and be able to reciprocate my knowledge to those others that may need it. Well, here are a couple pics from the glorious moment: The young man is my son, Nic
  16. Folks, here is a very nice offer from KR1 (Kevin). You can't be the first to place an order because I've already done it. Here is him email to me. If you want one of these, please PayPal your $10.00 to dnelson@axcesswave.com and put "CD" in the comments box and I'll see that all the money goes into the fund. Don, I would be willing to help move this fund raiser along by donating 50 of my CD's "Freedom of the Heart". This CD is a mixture of country and inspirational songs. Many of the people who have bought this CD have bought it for themselves, or as a gift for parents, or just someone that needs a lift in their life. There are 8 songs on this CD: Let Freedom Ring, Best Friends, American Tribute, Listen to the Whisper, Man in the Mirror, Welcome Home, Proud to be an American, and Homeland. If Ventureriders would like to offer these for sale to members for $10 each, and have the money collected by someone for Ventureriders, they could send me the names and addresses where these need to be shipped, and I would be willing to ship them out and cover the cost of the CD's, packaging and postage. If you're interested, let me know and I will be glad to help out. Thank you. KR
  17. Dose anyone here work from home ? You know these ads we see all the time on line or on TV.And are you making enough money ? Not being nosy , I'm just considering it.......Fred
  18. Hi All, I got back from Snake's place last night. He and the family are doing ok. We looked at his 2nd house. Old Victorian 2 story. It has been vacant for several years before he got it. Structurally sound and has the potential to be a showplace. Needs the kitchen put in and bathroom redone. Also paint, plaster, and scraping. Mainly a good dose of TLC. He is going to clean out the place so there is room to work. For the time being they have a furnished place to stay. So, when he gets the place open, we need to have a repair party!! There are neighbors, Patriot Guard, and folks from the F.D. he belongs to willing to help also. Best thing now is to let Snake and the lawyers work on the place that burnt down. Hopefully this gives him seed money for the other place. I will go back down in a few weeks and check on progress. Snake says hi and bless everyone for their prayers and wishes. He won't be on for a while as he lost his new laptop. I am trying to salvage his files and pics off of it. It to a good firehose hit! I will post some picture this evening. J.B.
  19. I am probably going to be buying one of the Harbor Freight lifts. They have a deal now at $200 for the hydraulic unit vs $379 for the air lift unit. I don't mind spending the extra money for a air assist if it is worth it. During the riding season I would probably use the lift 3 or 4 times a month for cleaning and service. I'm sort of thinking that a couple of years from now I would be enjoying the air assist while I have long forgotten about the extra money spent. Those of you with the foot operated hydraulic units, do you regret not having the air assist? After using yours would you pay extra money for the convenience? DT

  21. All HD Rockers have been recalled back to the factory for manufactoring defects. Also HD will not fix gear whine on all six speed models, but you can buy a gear to fix the problem! Is this a way for buyers to have to spend more money. Cable less throttles are giving problem too, with oil temps running at 290 degress or hotter. tew47
  22. If you haven't read Lewis's post about the ride to St. Jude, please do so. This will be a great experience for anybody who can make it. As some of you know, or Tail of the Dragon rally that has been organized Lewis for the past 3 years has always served the dual purpose of not only allowing all of us to enjoy getting together, riding and eating but even more importantly, to raise money for St. Jude's. The amount of money has grown each year and I am very proud to be a part of any group that is a part of such an event. It would be great if as many of you as possible could join Lewis at St. Judes to present them the money that was raised. Not only would we be very proud to have any of you there to represent us but you will probably get MUCH more out of it than you can possibly imagine. It truly is an opportunity that you will feel good about afterwards. Please see this thread for all the details. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=14760
  23. I'm thinking that maybe it's time for another contest. What do you think? Any ideas? As you know, we are a listed club at the New Enough website. http://www.newenough.com/ Not only do they have great products, service and prices but when you buy from them, you have the option during checkout to choose VentureRiders as your club of choice. Every time you do that, they make a small donation into our account there. Over time it does add up a bit and then we can use it for rally prizes, contests, etc. So, it's time for a contest to give away some of the money...most of the money...that we have in our account there. So, how about a $100.00 gift certificate from New Enough for a lucky winner. So....all we have to do is come up with a contest. I've had a few thoughts but am open to your suggestions. What do you think?
  24. The wife heard on the radio the other day from the "car guys" WJR here in Michigan. That putting a battery tender on your battery all winter long will take away or ruin your battery. If this is the case why do they make battery tenders? Besides to make money!
  25. If you've ever broken the glass of the headlight on a second gen...then you KNOW how much a new one will run you. Thanks to Eck Nace for this GREAT write up that will save many of us a lot of money in the future.
