  1. http://gajitz.com/lean-mean-safer-motorcycle-takes-turns-at-an-angle/ Yes, not working this week.
  2. found this on E-bay item #250541066345, lift Adapter:mo money:
  3. You got to read this to believe it...............Only made one year......yep he is right the 83 was only made one year, then the 84 and so on and so on..............beautiful bike but way too much money............. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1983-Yamaha-VENTURE-XVZ12-TOURER-V4-Motor-RARE_W0QQitemZ170415783197QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_motorcycles?hash=item27ad927d1d#v4-33

  5. It's hard to believe there are people that would do this. How low is this world getting? In Toronto, a coward goes into a Canadian Legion with a gun to rob the Vets of their poppy money. http://www.montrealgazette.com/news/Scarborough+vets+fight+armed+thief+poppy+drive/2216088/story.html
  6. I guess scamming isn't limited to Ebay. I've been looking for a new or nearly new Tahoe and found a nice sounding deal on Autotrader with the truck advertised to be in Huntington, WV. I emailed a couple of questions last night and tried calling today, number not working should have been my first clue. This evenging I get the following email response which didn't answer either of my questions. Needless to say I provided him a few words in response. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Hi Dennis, The car is still for sale. The asking price is $28,800. It is located in Belleair Beach, FL and the VIN is 1GNFK13078R247309. The car is registered on my name and the title is clear (no lien). It is in great condition, no dents or scratches. It was always garaged and the regular maintenance was done in time. It wasn't involved in any accident and has never suffered any kind of damage. Also this is a non-smoker car. If you have any questions regarding the car or you want extra photos or the CARFAX report (for free) just let me know! I'm a pilot on cargo flights. My wife broke up with me recently because I'm always away from home. We just sold our house and split the money. This is the last thing I need to sell and split the money with her. Because I'm away most of the time I will not be able to deal in person. But I've already arranged the shipping and the title transfer anywhere in the US. I will pay the shipping fees. I want the payment to be handled by MSN Autos. They will keep the money until you will receive and inspect the car. You will have 7 days of inspection period. If the car is not like described you will have to ship it back on my expense and they will give you a full refund. This way, you will be able to inspect the vehicle before committing to buy it and I know that you have the money and you aren't just fooling around. Giving the nature of this transaction please note that my sale terms are final and nonnegotiable. In order to move forward I will need your full name, address and phone number. I don't want to offend you, but the car is priced for a fast sale so please if you intend to apply for a loan or financing do not reply to this message! Chris Larsen."
  7. As we know Dingy has made an excellent contribution to the site in the form of the color wiring diagrams. I have printed the wiring diagrams for my 83 VR in a size of 36”x24”, full color and put them up on my workshop wall. It has been great to be able to work on the bike and be able to just look up and “see” the wiring without finding my place again on a small black and white page. This got me to thinking, which RandyA will tell you is very dangerous! How many of the members would like to have large size color prints of the diagrams for their bikes? I called the local Kinko’s to see what the charge would be to print them and was quoted way too much money. (at least for me) So to cut to the chase what I am proposing is this: Each member that would like a large size print would donate to a common fund what they thought the prints would be worth to them. All cost for printing and United States Postal service would be at my expense. ALL of the money donated for the prints would be divided by the number of our members serving us in the military. It would be my intent that the money be used by them to help pay for the cost of phone calls home over the Christmas/New Year holidays. (If this plan is not to your favor then a substitute donation to St. Judes will be made.) I have spoken with Dingy and he has given his okay to go ahead with the idea. I will be setting up a Paypal account later today or you can send checks/money orders. Many of you do not know me but you can check with RandyA and I am sure he will tell you that the money collected will go for the intended purpose. So let’s begin, tell which diagram you want, where to send the diagram to, the amount of your donation and the benefactor of choice. (I will keep records and supply those upon request.) I will print each week from now to the end of November, mailings will go out Mondays, last mailing on November 30. Contact me via private message or my home email and phone number is listed in my profile. Thanks all – working together we can make the Holidays a little brighter for each other. Steve Neal (sgn)
  8. does anyone have tom tom rider 2. I want a gps what do you recommend?
  9. Don't bother wasting your money on a cooling vest. If you wear anything other than a mesh jacket they are a waste of money. I've tried two now and the one I just tried is being shipped back home. I'm on my 30 day ride and using a textile jacket. The vest is supposed to be a 2 day vest but within an hour I took it off. It was nothing but damp and clammy. No cooling effect whatsoever. I was dying today in the 90 degree weather with the textile but the textile is also waterproof so I'll stick with it. I'm assuming the vest will work with the mesh but not certain as I don't have it with me.
  10. Did anyone see the V-Max on Barrett-Jackson last nite?? I think it was Jay Leno's and he had it auctioned for a charity in New York. It went for $120K. Probably because of who's it was and also because of the charity the money was going to. Thought it interesting that it was a metric and not an American made bike that was being sold in such an American setting. Don H.
  11. Five years ago this last Sept, Laura was filling in as a substitute teacher and while talking to a parent, a five year old child grabbed her wrists and dropped down, pulling her forward, tangling her feet. In an attempt not to fall on the child, she pushed the child to the side and her 1st point of contact was the forehead/cheek on the right side of her face on concrete. She sustained an eye socket blowout. It literally disentigrated the eye socket under the eye. She immediately had surgery putting a plate under her eye. Since then, she has had four more surgeries, all under workman's comp. And, she will have to wear corrective lenses due to double vision for the rest of her life. A couple of years later, due to degenerative disc disease and fibromyalgia, she got Social Security Disability. Now, the workmans comp insurance has made an offer to settle and we took that offer to be reviewed by a lawyer. Even though the offer was pitifully low for what she has been thru, we were told by the lawyer that due to Laura being on SSI, even though it had nothing to do with her disability, any money she receives will be required to be paid back to SSI. We can either take the settlement and then her monthly checks will be prorated and reduced over a set period of time, or we can take the money and she will not receive a check until that amount of money has been accounted for. As it was explained, if you receive a workmans comp claim at 25 years old, through an injury that is absolutely no fault of your on, and due to an illness 30 years later you become unable to work, you will still be liable for what ever money you received 30 years before coming out of any SSI payments, even though they are not related. Just thought you all may want to know this. RandyA

  22. Well, I changed the oil - put Mobil 1 10w40 in and it didn't seem to change the whine. On Monday I went to our local Yamashop and spoke with the lead mechanic. After a short talk he said he would need to ride it to determine if the clutch basket change would possibly make a difference. The key was in it so off he went. About 15 minutes later he was back and said he would change the basket if that's what I wanted " BUT " he also said that I have one of the quieter Ventures. Now I realize that the shop is busy right now and perhaps didn't want any additional work but looking at it from a business sense, one would think they would schedule it to be done anyway because it's basically FREE money for them. What he did suggest is that the next time I change oil that I consider using 20 w 50 oil. That 'might' help somewhat he said but there are no guarantees. So yesterday I found that with a helmet on, the XM radio up to 14 - 16 and enjoying the scenery, I really didn't even notice a whine.

  24. I installed a new set of Avon Venoms on my '88 VR and went for a short ride. I feel a vibration over 65 MPH so I came back home and took the front tire and rim to the local stealer to get it balanced. He informed me that the tech said he couldn't balance it because the wheel bearings were worn out and that they needed replacing. At first I figured it was just a ploy to get more money out of me but then I considered that the bike is 21 years old and not being the original owner I don't know just how old the bearings really are. SO I told him I would order the parts since I get all my parts through Flatout and have so far saved a ton of money over the prices that my local stealer has quoted me. My question is just how dificult is it to replace these bearings and what all parts do I need to order from Flatout to make this repair. Also do I need any special tools to make this repair? Any excuse I can find to get new tools works for me! As always thanks for all the assitance. MC
