  2. ok it is now 5:40 here in good old IL im up because i have been having sleep problems for that past week. doc says its stress and gave me pills to help. well about 5 minutes ago my cell phone that my daughter got me rang so since im up i answerd it. this is what happend them- hello this is a bill collector we are trying to reach a james hack me - yep you got him how may i help you? them well you owe us xxx amount of money for a loan you have. me ok i understand that. but im now dissabled and i can not work. i did take out insurance on this loan that in case of loss of job and dissabilty they would make the payments? them -well mr hack they cant do that because when you took out the loan you said you where working? and your doctor said you been dissabled since 2008? and we gave you the loan in 2010. so we dont cover pre exsisting dissabilty? me-- well let me get this right i paid a fee of around $150 for this protection and you wont honor it? and for your information yep i was dissabled way before 2008 but i got a work ticket from social security to try and work. so yes i was dissabled and still able to try and work now i can no longer work so you should do what your insurance on the loan says it will do. them-- sorry mr hack but we cant you must keep up the payments or we come for the stuff you put down as collateral. me thats fine if you get anything out of my small apartment thats worth that amount feel free to come for it. and this was an unsecured loan. high intrest i put nothing down as collateral. and hey since your going to come and get my stuff i have an alarm clock. you might want that because i think you cant call at this time of day. but im willing to pay the intrest till i can do better. them we cant accept that amount. me so your refuseing money? them yes MR HACK thats to low and it will take you at least another year more to pay it off. me so lets get this right you dont want any of my money so i consider it paid since you dont want any money? they hung up

This newest edition is definitely eye catching and looks to be tough on security, I am wondering about it being a plastic polymer and how it feels when spending, lol!   4. Taking with a friend of mine yesterday. Sharon's a retired private school teacher for the special kids. At 64 she has no health insurance, perscription or dental. She'll turn 65 in two weeks. Her husband Jerry who is a few years older and on medicare, just had a successful quadruple heart bypass. The Dr. wrote out the scripts for Jerry, Sharon went to Wallmart to fill them. First she ask how much they cost. It was $300 for one and $500 for the other for a one month supply. She said "now I know why people have to make the decision on wether to eat, or, buy their prescriptions..." She said no thanks, I can't afford it. She called the Dr. back up and ask how in the world was she suppose to come up with that much money "every month". The Dr. Said let me work with the folks at Wallmart... After switching the medications she is now paying less than $14 for a 3 month supply. Just though I'd pass this on as it may help one of us or someone you know...

  6. This should be must reading for all of us. This act may be addressed primarily for automobiles, but is surely an issue concerning anyone who has had their wallet emptied by a dealer. MC dealers are made from the same cloth as car dealers. As a matter of fact more and more are being run by high end auto dealerships, Harley included. Apparently all the MoCo cares about when they sell a franchise is how much money do you have to invest! So check this white paper out and see for yourself. Had my 25K miles, 85 venture for about 6 years, it never ran right - it would cut out at 6200 rpm, spit, sputter at full throttle on excelleration, I know it needed to have the carbs cleaned but I didn't want to spend the money. I just forked out over 200 bucks to clean the carbs, new plugs, wires, now it hesitates and doesn't go over 5200 rpms at full throttle. If I don't have it wide open I can reach redline in 1st. 2nd gear tops out at about 4500 rpm. Mechanic claims it is not the carbs mainly because it goes great until 5200 rpms ? I'm frustrated - I don't know how to fix the bike myself yet - IF it was a carb problem at 6200, so why not a carb problem at 5200 ?? I've already paid the bill, don't want to invest more money. I feel like I should have just left it alone if this is as good as it gets. Any ideas ?

I just got back from the Orthopaedic surgeon and now I have to go in Fri morning to have a plate put in my shoulder since it is not healing right, my right shoulder has dropped an inch and is getting worse. My day just keeps getting better now I may have to quit my job to get my money out of retirement to pay my mortgage and keep my house. So riding is not on the top of my list but I will not stop as soon as I am better I will buy another bike. TOM
  10. I gave up on buying a used venture and got a new Victory Vision today. Just got tired of all the bs dealing with sellers who dont want to be straight up . Anyway I got the bike that impressed me the most , and 3 years of payments to go with it. Thanks to everyone on this site for the tips. Please understand Im not in any way kicking on Ventures , its just that for a little more money for new vs. new I think the Vision is the best for me. Now Ive got to go to the roadstar forum and say goodbye to some more great folks.

  12. Vogel is over and we still have some time to raise some more money for the kids at St. Jude. I will be posting some Vogel T-shirts and patches for those that would like to have them, and there will other items also. Chime in here Bob if you have anything to correct or add So Bob and I have a difference in opinion as to what damage someone can do to you personally in regards to identity theft when someone has information from your driver's license like name, address, DL#, & dob. I agreed with Bob in that with my they can't get money out from our bank account, but I think they can do other forms of damage like take out loans, credit cards, etc...Lender says you owe money because you took out this, that and the other. You say I didn't do those things. They say prove it. Not sure if/how you could prove you didn't. Thoughts?

Your wright up on how to replace the rear brake pads gave me the curage to do it myself..........Agin thank you as it saned me quite a bit by doing myself and now gives my a l.ittle more curage to do other things to this old girl myself. On a different note its amazing how well these things stop with new pads on the rear. I knew they were bad but it was almost touching on the inside pad and less than 1/8th and inch on the outside. guess I got my money on that set. I took a look at the front so they are next. I had a set of fa123's on hand so they went on the rear but I think I may put the sinterd set on the fronts as money gives leeway. Later all and again thanks fuzzy David
  16. Good Afternoon All, I have read just about every thread on lowering that I can find on this forum, but I have more specific questions. Like many others, I am concerned about dragging parts but I am also concerned about bottoming out. I thought that If I gave you specifics you may be able to help me decide what to do. I have a 2005 Royal Star Tour Deluxe with Venture Pillowtop seats with the Butler mod done to them. I also have the Bub complete exhaust system which does raise the mufflers closer to the sadlebags. I am 5'7" with a 30 inch inseam. My Wife and I weigh 340 lbs together, about 170 each. I have been considering buying the Baron Lowering kits for the front(one with emulators and springs) and rear. I also intend to add a scootworks trunk and a quadzilla fairing in the future. Given our weight and my plans for future mods, do you think I would have any problem bottoming out on front during quick stops or rear while going over bumps riding two up? My next question is: if these kits would be a good fit for us considering our situation, is it worth the money to go with the full blown Baron front lowering kit with progressive springs and gold valve emulators rather than just the spacers? I don't want to spend this kind of money for nothing, but either way I would have the forks apart and would like to do it right the first time. Has any one here used these kits on a newer RSTD that weighs about the same as we do? I would really appreciate any input, opinions or experiences. Regards, Tony

  18. I am installing the firestik firefly 3foot antennas in place of the stock ones. After searching the other antenna related threads, I have a question: Instead of replacing all the wiring and the antenna mounts, Is it possible to just drill out the antenna mount and rethread it to the correct thread to match the antenna and just screw the firestik into the mount? I'd do this on both sides. Then just have the CB antenna tuned to the system. I already bought all the components to change everything over. But if it is possible then maybe it could save someone else some money. Thanks in advance
  19. Looking to upgrade my Arai helmet speakers "so I can actually understand " what is being said on the CB and radio.... Is this what I need? Are they worth it?
  20. A couple of items for the '86 I just picked up. The chrome side covers that sit beside the radiator cover (the triangle ones) and the lower center chrome piece that sits between the bottom of the saddle bags. If any of you 1st genners have these in decent condition let me kn ow as I would rather give my money to one of our own rather than a faceless ebay seller (although I'm sure they are nice folks too)

    Scam????

    I suspect this is a a scam. A guy contacted me via e-mail to buy my 51 merc. He insists on paying via pay pal and wants me to open an account there. He will not tell me where he is and claims he does not have a chequeing account and cannot go to the bank due to the nature of his work (used car dealer) He wants to send the money then have the car picked up. I have offered to deliver it but he refuses. It does not make sense for him to pick it up due to ferry fares and tides. Your opinions?
