  1. http://cdn-6.psndealer.com/e2/dealersite/images/motorcycleaccessoriesgj/vp1129243_1_large.jpg Manufacturer Yamaha Model Year 1986 Model VENTURE ROYALE Price $2,399.00* Color Brown Displacement 1300 cc VIN# 001353 Stock Number: 001353 Miles 48508 Looks pretty good to me if you're a 1st Gen kinda guy. Click on the specks for link to web site. http://www.westerncovintage.com/ Sorry click on links left side and do Motorcycle Accessories. Western Colorado.
  2. go to their User CP (link in bottom blue line at top of page) and, click on the "edit your details" link (in the blue box at the left). Then under "Custom User Title" list the year and model of the bike(s) you own. This will post the year and model of your bike in all of your posts. This makes it easier, when you post a problem, for the people to know whether you're talking about a 1st gen. or a 2nd gen. Thanks all!
  3. Hi guys, this my first post but I have been using your site to help me find an RSTD to buy. Well on Feb 28th I found a deal to good to pass up and took the plunge. I found a 1996 Royal Star but I'm not sure if it is a Tour Deluxe or a Boulevard. The maintenance manual I found online told me to look under the seat for an ID plate. There isn't one. So how do I know what model it is?
  4. Need some help here. I am ordering some fork seals and want to make sure of the model #. I can't find anything on motor and the ownership says "XVS" !! I am prity sure they mean Z not S. Anyway how can I tell between a "N" "TK" or what ever it could be. Or, does it mater at all since all 1985 XVZ12 Ventures are mostly the same. Your help is appreciated!
  5. Lots of members have used, out of warranty Garmins, called their support and gotten free replacements. I took a chance based on this w/ a Streetpilot 2730 on e-bay in that the remote works (if you hold it less than an inch from it), but the touchscreen doesn't. I called their tech support and tried a couple things. Nothing worked. All they said was because it is a discontinued model and out of warranty I would have to pay $170 up front. I can ship it to them and if they can't fix it then they can choose to send me a refurb. Not what I was hoping to hear.
  6. Just joined this site a couple minutes ago. I'm looking to buy a touring bike within the near future. I happen to see a blurb about the new Stratoliner Deluxe but after going to my local dealer found out that the release date isnt until later this summer (???) Picked up a brochuer and found the most amazing bike Royal Star Venture S I was just hoping some of the members here have this bike and could give me a "review" of their own. I need a bike I can be comfortable on for long trips. I'm planning a trip to Alaska within two years. Also my girlfriend wants to start riding with me and her comfort is also a huge factor. What do you like/dislike about this model. Does anybody know if this model will be getting fuel injection in the future?? Hows the power and fuel consumption. Also I noted the seat height at 29.5 inches. I'm only 5'8" with a 30" inseam. Are there any other vertically challenged riders out there with this bike?? Thanks for any info you can send. Ride safe. Stubby
  7. For any old guys on this site; Old American Car Brochures for likely any car you've owned. Check out that 1940's model that you once was yours! Interesting. http://www.lov2xlr8.no/broch1.html
  8. I am just wondering if anyone can tell me what all options the Royale came with in 84 that the standard did not? Thanks

  10. Today's special on Amazon is the Nuvi 785T for $199. Does anyone know the difference between this model and the 765T that several of you already have? There are just too many models out there to figure out the difference!!!
  11. I dropped by a dealer today and got into a conversation with the used bike manager. I commented that it looked like Yamaha was dropping the RSTD and replacing it with the Stratoliner Deluxe. He said that he made the same comment to the district rep and was told that it was just taking a one year break but the 'model' would be back in the 2011 model year. That much was supposedly straight from the company but the two of them were supposing the break was to totally redesign the bike, bigger FI engine, etc. and if they update the RSTD then the RSV has to be changed too. Yeah, I know. Until it actually happens... it's just rumor.
  12. Can some of you with knowledge of the 1983-1985 Ventures help me fill in the gaps that I have in model numbers & options. I am working on schematics for the 83-85 group and need this info to know what combination to make the schematics. I am looking for the Base model #, Cruise #, Class #, & Cuise + Class # (if offered separately) The Audio options would also be helpful, but not as much as the above combinations. What I have is below. 1983 XVZ12TK Base Model XVZ12?????????? Cruise System XVZ12TDK CLASS System 1984 1985 XVZ12DN Cruise Control CLASS System
  13. First let me say that I'm new here, and I appreciate all the good info on the site. I ride a VStar 1100, but I'm going to move to a Venture. I want to get back into the long haul rides, and 2-up the V Star just isn't enough for me. I want to look for a recent model, maybe '06 or up. Here's my question.. I thought I read somewhere that there was a change in the transmission gear cut in '08 that made it more quiet. Now I can't find where I saw that, maybe I misread it at the time. Are there any major changes in recent years that I should know about when deciding which year to go with? I've looked at the history of the venture, but it just doesn't go into that detail. Any tips would be great..I'm looking fwd to joining you guys as a Venture rider! Chris J
  14. Adventure Sports Products Cargo Trailer. Model SST. For sale locally in my area. Went to their web site, looks like a good trailer, but looks aren't everything. It's a 2003 model, less than 2000 miles on it. Any idea about it's value? Anybody here have one? Opinions? Looks like a low option version. Solid white in color, no wings or air foils. It does have the aluminum wheels and I think Gold Wing tail lights. Any info would be greatly appreciated! 15. What XM or Sirius model # do you have?
  16. Black with flames. Carbs still there, cassette deck still there. Edit: They have a photo of the 08 charcoal in the gallery but only 1 color listed in the specs. 2nd Edit: The Canadian site shows a 2 tone blue as the standard model and the Raven with flames as the S model http://www.yamaha-motor.ca/products/images/motorcycles/2010_XVZ1300TF_VPBC5_1.jpg http://www.yamaha-motor.ca/products/images/motorcycles/2010_XVZ1300TFS_SMX_1.jpg http://www.yamaha-motor.ca/products/images/motorcycles/2010_XVZ1300TFS_SMX_1_l.jpg
  17. Is there a chart or list somewhere that shows what models numbers have what equipment and what year they are? I searching I found [ame=http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=24554]this[/ame] , but it doesn't address the model numbers. The title says my 84 is a XVZ12DL, but the 83-84 shop manual lists an L, KCZ, DL, DKCZ, TDK and a TK with no explanation of what those model numbers mean or what the differences are. http://www.cbr1100xx.org/forums/style_emoticons/22306set/eusa_think.gif Edit: I just saw mention of KC2 and a DKC2 as well.

  19. I have a line on a CB for the 1st gen in pretty good shape but it looks to be about 5" deep where my 86 uses one that's only about 3"... anybody know the year this one would fit?
  20. Since official Informations about the 2010 VMAX showed up recently, in Fact the Bike seems to stay untouched with Exception of the Color(candy Red), Rumours about the 2011 Model leaked out somewhere ... I won't say anything else than ....
  21. I just got an 08 RSTD am searching for accessories. I keep running into discrepancies with model numbers. Anyone know the numbers or can point me to a site where I can figure it all out. Most recently I was searching for a Custom World Driver Backrest. One place has a part number 04-169 and it fits XVZ-1300 CTT ROYAL STAR 05-UP. Other sites have a 04-167 which says will fit 1300 Royal Star Tour Deluxe 05+ but when I search the 04-167 number all I find is that this part is for the Venture and they have nothing for the RSTD. Very confusing. I maybe incorrect, but think that the RSTD and the Venture aren't exactly the same in the seat mounting department. Can anyone shed some light on this. Tom Update: I found the answers I was looking for by going through the NADA book. Model numbers in there.
  22. So I was checking out Microsoft's new search engine http://www.bing.com and searched for 1986 Venture Royale.. and I discovered that there's actually a wikipedia entry for the 1st Gen VR's... and Venturerider.org is in the article! From the article: The web brought about many online clubs. VentureRider.org http://www.venturerider.org is the largest and most active of these clubs with members worldwide and regular meetings (VentureIns) and more informal get-togethers throughout North America and Europe. It also has a great technical resource for all model years as well as a classifieds area for those looking to buy and/or sell. In addition, it's got some of our events, past and future, listed! Here's the link if ya'll want to check it out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yamaha_Venture_Royale
  23. The first gen drive shaft I understand is unobtainable other than used these days. I see a few on ebay but many are for later years of the first gen. Is the drive shaft part itself common across the first gen years or does it evolve so that a late model one would be of no use for use in an '84 ? Thanks, Brian H.
  24. Any one has any idea about how to get the right crash bars for my RS'97? I know that I get those on a Star parts on a two years old catalog, but it seems that nobody else is selling those parts any more. Also, I saw a Lindsay model that I don't like for this bike. I 'm looking for something more round style more than the emblem kind Lindsay has. THanks
  25. I have a friend who wants to sell his 1100 Goldwing and I need a value for it. Is there a site I can compare this model price at? It is very clean and he has ridden it sparingly.
