  1. Now and then I see"low fuel light" mentioned. I have a 1999 venture with no such creature. I even walked once and nothing. Do all ventures have them or does mine just not work. If mine doesn't work, does anyone have any ideas where I might start to get one. Thanks Richard
  2. Leaving for the beach on spring break in 6 days.MamaMo found out this week she is carrying a hot gallbladder. Were trying to get surgery scheduled as soon as we get back.Taking my fillet knife told her might catch something at the pier if she needs it out sooner.:stirthepot: Had mine done 25 years ago much easier today then it use to be.For now she is watching what she eats and I'm eating her share.
  3. I know a lot of us have the 1.5" riser extensions on our RSV's and I don't think anyone has found a great replacement for the 2 rubber dampers that go between the handlebars and fairing to keep the fairing from rattling and flexing. I know some carve up the originals or force them in at some odd angle. I haven't had anything in mine in 2 years and was just going to leave it as is until last week when I found something that works well. I work at a Honda auto dealer and on the new Honda Crosstour there is a cover that hangs by two cords from the liftgate to hide whatever you may have in the rear package area. At the end of each cord is a rubber ball that fits perfectly snug between the bars and the fairing. They are working great on mine so far. I just pushed them in place and they haven't moved. Honda part# is 84413-TP6-A01 and 2 of them should be less that $5.00 and 1-2 days to order in.
  4. Ok i know mine are right...mmm or are they. Radio on right and cb on left. I was at our local dealer and seen two and one is set up like mine, The other is reversed. Dealership had deer in headlight look when i showed them that. My cb and radio works great so i'm thinking mine is correct.
  5. Some of us that cant ride yet are probably in need of a good laugh, so I thought why not post your favourite tv blooper (PG please). This is one of mine, its an Australian version of Good Morning America..... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_fMN9kFm14&feature=player_embedded]YouTube - 'Long, stabby thing'[/ame] Brian
  6. My cousin's 07 RSV keeps blowing the main fuse (30-AMP). Any ideas why it may be doing this? Never had that problem with mine, nor have heard of it before. Thanks in advance Glenn
  7. Where's a good place to purchase a valve shim kit for a 2nd gen? Prices? extra shims? Thinking about doing mine in the next few months.
  8. I bought a lift adaptor from someone on the forum and have had no issues with it. Don't remember even what I paid , not really caring. Friend of mine saw one on ebay for about 55 bucks. Just wondering if anyone is familiar if they are of the quality that our member makes them?
  9. Is there an adapter that mates a firestickII antenna to the stock 1st gen set up. The firestick antennas have a male stud attachment and so does the antenna mount on the bike........I dont want to do the marshal mod but would love to fix my stock setup. Either that or find a new to me antenna . The top part of mine broke off just above the large round pice where you do the adjustments for the cb section. Thanks in advance David
  10. Kissimmee, Fl. 1-26 to 30, 2011 www.mecum.com going with 5 friends, 4 cars for sale, none mine, going to look around at the cars, quite the show they tell me.
  11. Has anybody ever had a power surge in the garage take out 2 battery tenders at once? There are 2 bikes in the garage, my RSTD and brothers Heritage. He has been having problems with his holding any kind of a charge (it doesn't), and he always plugs it in to tender. I never had a problem before New Years eve, I unplugged mine and rolled it out of the shed. Tried to start but cranked really slow. Fired right up after jumping. I took battery out, went to O'reilly, they tested it and said it was fine but low charge. Tender is a year old and showed the green full charge light when I unplugged from the bike. So I guess now that I have given a little background, there are 2 questions. First, would a power surge take out both tenders but not stuff like fridge in garage? And if that happened, could it have gone thru his tender and actually fried something in his Harley but not gotten thru the tender to my RSTD? Of course he is getting this from me cause mine starts and runs fine. So then he does this.
  12. We are still getting dumped with snow a steady 29 hours, I have 5 neighbours in their 70-80 years of age My evening will be tied up with the only snowblower on the street (Mine) So Im signing off and go to my duty of the season
  13. ...I must have missed it. What type coolant do most of you buy when replacing the old? I know it has to be "aluminum" friendly but what brand and where do you get it? I am about to change mine for the first time (for me).
  14. I was at my local dealer where I bought my Venture,Honda/Yamaha of FT. Walton, to have some warranty work done. (crack in left lower faring ) I noticed they had a set of chrome breather covers for a venture hanging on their showroom wall. This is the ones that set in between the cylinders at the bottom. I think these are discontinued. I already have a set on mine. I did not see a price, but I would suspect it would be suggested retail. If I remember right, they were between $80 to $100.Any way, here is their phone # for any one that is interested.850-862-4622 or 850-863-2346.
  15. Show me your cockpit!! Actually, every rally I go to I check out the different cockpits/handlebar setups. It's amazing to me to see the innovations that people have come up with and also how they have worked around the various problems of adding items into their cockpit. Just post a simple picture of your cockpit. I labeled mine, but just a picture would be cool. Maybe this thread will show LOTS of variations that some of us can use on our bikes. Wally
  16. Need to replace my grips. Dont like the ISO grips they feel to large. They want 51.00 for the rh side and 23.00 for the lh side. Didnt know if somebody had some that they had changed and wanted to sell them. If they are not wore out like mine. Have over 53,000 miles and looking to get another 53,000.
  17. Mine is an 83 I read on the another site that the collectors are the same from 83-93 Is this so? Would help to know for Ebay shopping
  18. any body got an antenna they want to sale ? MIne broke off this weekend, so Im looking for a new one. David
  19. Does anyone have a diagram of the insides of the radio handlebar switch, the one on the post just above the left hand grip that controls the 'Mute' and 'Search' operations. Even a list of what parts are inside would suffice because I removed mine to try to find out why it was not working properly and when I took it apart there were some funny sounds as everything went six ways to Sunday and I don't know how many parts I should be trying to find. Many Thanks.
  20. My 83 VR serial number is 31N000 then 3 more digits just under 500 So is mine one of the first 500 ever made? That could explain a lot!
  21. Am looking for the OEM part number (2008 RSV) of the bolt that secures the Passenger Arm Rest to the Bike (Rear Bolt that secures under the Right Rear Speaker. It appears mine has vibrated out. Anyone got it?
  22. Ok, I did the Midnight Ride here in Michigan over the weekend. I have a temp guage. Bike usually runs about 190-200. As I am sitting in line at the Mackinaw Bridge (about 15 minutes) the temp slowly climbed to 230. I was about 4 ft behind the bike in front of me. Could the exhaust from the bike in front cause the temp to climb on mine? Once we got rolling, it went right back down to 190. I have noticed when I get into traffic the temp climbs. Is this normal? It's a 2007 Venture.
  23. I read post where members talk about how advanced the Harley ultra is and they complain about the lack of updates on the RSV. Some buying harley's and using that as an excuse of why they bought the harley. Now if you want a Harley and can afford one buy it. I just don't see what is so updated about a harley, over the Venture. First, Looks the Ultra(electra glide) looks just as it did 50 years ago, and no Harley has no intention of changing it, loyal Harley riders would flip out. Now the modern bikes do have better chrome and more refined looks, but the RSV looks just as good, actually more streamlined to me. Most non-riders don't know the difference. I hope Yamaha does the same and never change the RSV overall appearance. Now yes the Harley is fuel injected, but that has pros and cons, I like FI until the electronic problems start. I can't tell that the sound system on the HD is any louder than the RSV, and mine sounds just as good as Bobby's did( we think his ultra is totaled) even he said mine was as good as his, there was not enough difference to count. And as far as the cassette, it just fills the hole in the dash, and by the way CD's are fast becoming a thing of the past, the Aux port is the thing now so you can plug your mp3, or ipod into it, my wife and teenager won't even bother with CD's anymore they take up to much room. So the aux port on the RSV makes it up to date with the new music eq. As far as the ride that personel preferance, I like the RSV ride, Bobby says the Ultra is smoother at 80 mph, but the RSV is smoother at lower speeds. Now yes there are tons more accessories for the harley, and Yes I guess if you think it cool to be in the IN crowd and own one, that great too, if it makes you happy go For it. Now I am just stating my opinion, not to start a war or insult anyone, but this is a RSV site and some of us think it is a near perfect riders machine. The prices the guys I know spend to service and maintain their Harley's, just recently one of the guys told me he had his serviced, oil and filters changed and belt adjusted he said her got deal at $535.00. I can't afford it. Gregg
  24. have any of you guys tryed the kenda tires on your bike?? i recently bought a new kenda tire for the back of my v-star for $72.50 size 17/80/15... when i got the tire i was really impressed.. the tire side wall was rather thick, and the tread design was rather inpressive also.. i have used e tires years ago and they seemed to last for around 12000 miles.. i ordered 1 for my buddies 09 vulcan 900 about 2 months ago.. he now has over 1500 miles on it and it still shows no wear yet.. i ordered them thru denniskirk.com .. got them within 24 hours.. of course they are located here in minnesota.. worth the check out.. it was the kruz tire, that my buddy got.. they up graded his to that, nicer tire than mine, but im happy with mine.. i will tryto get a coupleof pictures up later today..
