The bolt that holds the heel-toe shifter on my '06 RSTD rattled off and has been lost. Thanks to V7Goose, I got it field fixed using the spare bolt on the left hand fuse box cover. However, I want to replace it with an official bolt. I called the dealership today, who could not tell me what sort of bolt I should buy. Is it chromed? How long is it? The PDF I have of the service manual shows that it has a hex head and integrated washer, but doesn't really give me any other information. Does someone have information on this bolt? A description and a torque value would be handy.

Recently acquired a 2009 Venture I had to wait several weeks on. Looked everywhere for a manual to read while waiting for delivery. Wondering if anyone has a owners manual for a 83 Venture standard they would want to sell?

So the manual says you can use a torque wrench to torque it to spec. Well I tried it and there isn't enough room between the oil filter and the plate you bolt the rectifier too (even though the picture in the manual shows differently). If the plate was moved maybe 2-3" to the left, it would line up. How do you tighten your oil filter? Do you worry about torquing it to spec? I just used one of those rubber strap things and once the oil filter wouldn't move anymore I stopped trying to tighten it. I didn't want to dent it in any way.

I've had this happen a couple of times now, so I know it is not a fluke. When I lock the handlebars in the turned position, all lights come on, except the headlight. I've read the manual and can not find anything concerning this. Is this an indication that the ignition switch is developing a problem or what?

Last week I bought an 84 Venture XVZ12 and I am looking for a copy of the owners manual. A guy from work who has a 92 Venture 1300 Royale loaned me his manual which I took home and scanned into a .pdf file. The PDF file is 14.5 megs. I was hoping to find someone that might be willing to do the same for a 1st gen. venture owners manual. If you would like a copy of the 2nd gen. owners manual that I have, just let me know and I can send it to you. Question re: 2nd Gen Valve Adjustment

Well I've looked in my owner's manual, I've looked in my Yamaha Service Manual...what is the specified interval for adjusting the valves on the 2nd Gen? My mileage recently dropped and got half of it back with a carb sync today...carbs are clean...use Seafoam often. I'm thinking my valves may need adjusting and are causings some of my diminished MPG's so I'm hoping someone knows what the recommended intervals are. Also my plugs and all filters are good and have all been recently changed. Thanks in advance!!! -
Hi all........I just obtained a CLYMER MANUAL (M374) for YAMAHA ROYAL STAR 1996-2003. Is this Manual applicable to my 2006 Midnight Venture? 3 1/2 years ago I tried to adjust my valves. I had done it on several bikes that had screw and locknut adjusters. Trying to go by the book wasn't working out so I put it back together and took it to the Yamaha dealer. When I talked to the mechanic he wasn't interested in helping me figure out what I was doing wrong. Now here it is 3 1/2 years later and I just had it checked by an independent. I told him about my attempt and that it still bothered me. He did it for half the price and explained what he thought wasn't working for me. Like the carb synch in the factoty manual he believes the factory service manual isn't right. He said he had to rotate the engine a little past TDC to obtain good measurements. He rotated it to where the lobes where straight up instead of pointing away from each other. In the position that the book called for the measurements that I was getting 3 1/2 years ago weren't making sense. 3 1/2 years ago (32,000) miles the Yamaha tech changed one shim. Today (65,000 miles) everything was in spec. ???????? -
Hi! I just got me an XVZ 13 td 1990, and i am searching for the User/Owners manual. I have the Service manual, and i saw that this manual is available on this site. I have scanned the net after this User/Owner manual, but it seems that this manual is impossible to get. On Yamaha here in Sweden they told me that this manual is no longer available. Anyone that now where i can get this, or anyone that have a spare ex of this book to sell? Please:big-grin-emoticon:

For anyone who has an RSV and a shop manual, what is the emergency stop switch, where is it located on the bike, and what is its purpose? The early Royal Stars don't have this switch. The switch in question can be seen in the RSV shop manual on pages 8-76 to 8-80, or near the bottom left corner of page 481 of the Clymer's manual. This is not the engine stop switch on the right handlebar switchbox. This is something else. What in the world is it?

How 'bout that warning light in the upper left area of the LCD panel? I bought this very clean '85 from a local for $800 , but he didn't have an owner's manual. The only issue I have is that little red warning light. He monkeyed around with the tail light wires adding chrome junk and now only the brake light works (no running or signals). I've cleaned the wires up by removing everything that wasn't O.E.M. and checking all connectors. I don't know if the lights have any effect on the warning light or not. Any ideas while I'm waiting on a factory manual to arrive?

The play in the throttle was minimal, in the past couple of weeks its been increasing, now its about a quarter turn before it engages. How do you adjust this, the manual says bring it to the dealer.

I just bought an 86 Venture Royale. I love it. I'm still a rookie and this bike is loaded with gadgets. Does anyone know where I can get an owner's manual? I have the service manual. This is a wonderful site and I am learning so much just by visiting. Keep up the great work. Jay -

Just curious if anyone has the owners manual for an 84 venture standard. I just bought this bike and being relatively new to the venture scene, I just wanted to get a little more familiar with the bike. I've got some questions regarding the air ride adjustment (I think thats what its called). If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.

Any one have advise on how to push up the air joint bracket to remove the spring wire clip so that the fork leg will drop down (shown manual page 5-30) If it just pushes up it must take a 500 pound ape - cause mine won't move Thanks all
