  1. Files Updated on 10/28/2009>> All Audio circuits now on main page, so that all schematics are now just one page. Other minor corrections done to all schematics. Text realigned for easier reading Some Line types changed for easier reading. Gary I have completed the 1st Generation schematics. My goal in doing this is to make them easier to read and reduce the number of pages needed to display the information. I have used color and line types to make the wiring easier to follow. In some cases I could not use the exact color that is being represented due to visibility and printing issues. For example yellow is hard to see on the screen and does not print well. The previous posting for the 1983-1985 models have been replaced by what is included with this post. The 1983 differs significantly from the 1984-1985 models in the areas of Flasher, Hazard, Starting Circuit Cut-Out Relays, the Hazard Switch, Canceling Unit & Diode Pack. The files for the 86-89 models that were previously posted have been revised slightly and are now at Revision B. Major corrections done included coils were numbered incorrectly in Simplified Circuit & the Flasher Relay Assembly has been updated to include flasher information. The 1990 major changes from the 1986-1989 models were the TCI, coil pick-up & fuel pump control. This post supersedes all previous posts I have done in regards to the 1st gen wiring diagrams. All 1st gen's are included in this post. The files will look best when plotted at 11" x 17" size or larger. Office Max and Staples as well as others can do this for you for a minimal charge if you want a printout. I paid $1.00 for an 11" x 17" color print at Staples. 83 Yamaha Venture TK Wiring Diagram Rev C.pdf 1983 Venture XVZ12TK From 1983 Yamaha Venture Owners Manual. 83 Yamaha Venture Royale TDK Wiring Diagram Rev C.pdf 1983 Venture RoyaleXVZ12TDK From 1983-1985 Yamaha Venture Service Manual 83 Yamaha Venture TK Simplified Circuit Diagram Rev C.pdf 1983 Venture XVZ12TK From 1983-1985 Yamaha Venture Service Manual, page 7-1 83 Yamaha Venture Royale TDK Simplified Circuit Diagram Rev C.pdf 1983 Venture Royale XVZ12TDK From 1983-1985 Yamaha Venture Service Manual, page 7-1 83 Yamaha Venture electrical info.pdf This file is a compilation of various sheets from the 1983 Yamaha Venture Service Manual that would be helpful when working with electrical system. 2. Looking for an owner manual for my 2006 RSTD. Also would like a Clymers, but they seem to only go up to 2003. Anybody have one available . . . or can point me to a source. Thanks.
  3. Today i purchased a 1982 Yamaha Maxim 750 for a run around bike. Its in great shape and needs very litte work. I plan to just give it a good clean up and maybe a dark red paint job. Is there any members out there that also own one that can give me any pro's or con's on the bike? i'm also going to be looking for a owners manual and a repair manual. Any tips would be helpful.
  4. anybody know the part # for ngk sparkplugs on a 1st gen ? i forgot manual at home and want to change plugs . Thom
  5. Hi. I'm a proud owner of a new 09 RSV. Just bought it Friday. The owners manual has an obvious miss print. It say's the low setting is 0 psi, Mid is 0 psi and high is 7 psi. After taking the wife for a ride today, I know I need to bump the pressure up some what. The owners manual is no help and I found nothing in a search. Can someone please give the the minimum and maximum pressure for the rear shock. TIA MIKE
  6. Hi there our bike will not stay running. have replaced the battery and it only runs for the amount of the charge and then dies. I have taken it apart examined the connections and everything looks good. Has anyone had to replace a stator. Also has anyone been able to get their hands on a repair manual for a 2006. Thanks in advance

    09 Venture

I finally made a deal on a 09 venture raven and red, man she is purty too.. 2 questions 1) Is this a 2nd generation or 3rd. 2) Is there a repair manual on line, I have the owners manual.. Oh yea I'm one happy camper tonight...Might sleep on it...LOL Thanks Scary
  8. I have a 2006 Royal Star Venture. Are there directions anywhere on VentureRider.org on how to do things like locate the oil drain plug, change the oil filter (tools to use), change the rear differential oil, location of the most common lube points, what viscosity of oil to use in the engine and what viscosity to use in the rear differential, how to get to and change the spark plugs (along with the spark plug gap), and anything else to do in a 8000 mile servicing. A service manual or a PDF file of a service manual would be handy, eh? Thanks, ToolmanRR ( ToolmanRR at Yahoo dot c o m )
  9. Nub here again. While waiting on parts to arrive,I'm just kinda walking around my bike, looking,,thinking, wondering. I:think:have read in some forums that maybe I could download a manual for my bike somewhere on this site. Can anyone put me on this?I have simple questions like, What's the little knob beside the ignition switch for? Oil levels, fluid levels, ect. Thanks...Nub
  10. Ever since I bought my bike in mid March it would "squeek" when I get off it or go to move it. Last night I decided to find this squeek and commenced removing the support/s/linkages for the rear shock. The nightmare begins..... the manual describes the process for removal, starting with side covers and mufflers (no problem:cool10: ).......on to the bolts (slight problem but nothing that an impact driver can't solve:smash2: )......next the pins/bushings on either side of the the main bolt that sits just under the shock (the one on the right side with the flat portion/threads = a little work but finally removed)......the pin on the left has nothing to grab on to (the kicker here is the manual shows a picture of it being removed with needlenose pliers = Not @!#$%^& likely:bang head: ) I must admit I finally got frusted enough to use visegrips in an attempt to grab it......well they worked with no ill effects. What a mess.....the pins bushing etc still had grease on them, the only problem was that it was so dry that it resembled something hard baked, they actually provided considerable resistance instead of lubrication. It would have been nice (although common sense would tell you) if the manual were to mention that the rear wheel will drop during the procedure ) The Dream begins.......... The squeek was located and removed (it was at the pivot point right by the centre stand . The ride to work this morning was utterly fantastic.....I've always affectionately called big bikes "couches" but mine sure felt like it this morning.
  11. Greetings! I'm trying to diagnose my charging system on a 99 RSV. I check the battery off the bike, and it reads 12.9V. I connect it to the bike with ignition of, it reads 12.9V. I turn on the ignition switch without starting the engine, it reads 12.3-12.4V. When I start the engine, it holds at 12.3V. When I take her to 5KRPM it hold at 12.3V which according to the ever knowledgeable service manual (I've learned my lesson about not reading the manual when troubleshooting...) is bad. It's supposed to be at or around 14V at that RPM range. So... I now know from that series of tests that my charging system isn't working. I've tested the resistance on my pickup coil, which reads .4 Ohm on both negative leads. The service manual says that it should be between .279 and .34. My Ohm meter is not that sensitive, and doesn't show me 1000ths; it only goes to 10ths. Is .4 significantly out of spec with the .274 to .34 range? I haven't tested the stator yet because I'm waiting for the gasket to come in so I can put it back together again the same day I take it apart. But given the cost of a new pickup coil (I'm looking at about $120USD from my local parts store) I'd hate to replace it only to find out that .06 Ohms is a nominal delta. Thanks!
  12. I just recieved a paper service manual for an 09 RSTD for $30.00 to my door from Riggs Kwong manualwizard1970@yahoo.com TC:hurts:
  13. Greetings all, While scouring through all the older posts for anything I could learn about my 84, I stumbled across this old post. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=22081&page=3 I did download the manual that mbrood (Mike Brood) so kindly had posted on 6/12/08. It does contain some info that I could not find in the service manual. THANKS MIKE! We had around one half inch of SNOW this morning here in Madison, SD. No riding, still only 50 at 6:00 P.M. Take care all and ride safe. Dave
  14. I went to the Clymer.com website for a repair manual. All I could find was a manual for the 1999 to 2003 Venture. I have a 2006 Venture. I have heard that nothing has really changed on the Venture. Will this manual be all right for my 2006? Thanks. Dennis
  15. Greetings all, I purchased a 1984 Venture a couple of weeks ago. I found this site to do some research on this bike as I knew very little about it. Thanks for the help! I lhad to trailer it from Sioux Falls, SD to my home in Madison, SD (50 miles) as it is WAY too cold to ride in March. My question is, does anyone of you knowledgable peole have an idea where I can get an owner's manual. The guy I bought my bike from did not have one. He did give me a service manual. Does the owner's manual have any info in it that the service manual does not? Looking forward to riding when it warms up. Dave
  16. OK, I've got my rear wheel off to get the rotor turned and brake pads replaced. I'm planning on replacing the 6304 bearing , but I noticed that there's another bearing also. In the service manual, it's number is NK 26 x 35 x 25/3A. Is it neccessary for me to replace this one as well? My bike is an '84 VR with 71,000 miles. Thanks!
  17. Hi Everyone, did some searching first but didn't find the answer so here I am. Opened up my repair manual and everything I've read out here said the same thing. The stator plug (3 wht wires) is behind the engine left side, manual said it was behind the side cover. It ain't there. I've looked just about everywhere I can look, got parts scattered and still no plug. Any thoughts? I'm thinking I've got a rectifier problem, I'm reading high voltage (about 17)at the battery, although it is new (Odessey and it came fully charged according to their specs) and it might possibly be charging up. I just want to check the stator windings too.
  18. Has anyone bought the RepairPro RSTD Service Repair Manual? I see them on eBay (like this current one) and wonder how well done it is. I have that other eBay manual, the Yamaha Service Manual in PDF, and I don't like it. It lacks certain information I'd think would be covered (recommended oil grade and filter size?). I'm hoping this CD-based thing will be better. Is it?
  19. just bought a new to me trailer to pull behind my 91 vr. I no there is a formula for how much weight I can haul but not sure where to find it. Didn't find anything in the owners manual. Thanks in advance, David
  20. I looking for a manual for my 1st gen. 86 VR i have the clymer royal star 96-03 was woundering if there was one for the 1st gen.like that one.
  21. I have recently developed a squeak in the rear suspension. I notice it mostly when getting off and on the bike, but it must be telling me something needs to be lubed. I dont have a service manual if someone can tell me what it need it would be very helpful
  22. Bike did not come with the correct owners manual (XVZ13CTT)' Any ideas on where to get one or if anyone might have one for sale Thanks in advance Norm
  23. New to this bike. Just acquired. Been setting for 6 months. Bike won't start normally. Will start and run briefly with starting fluid in carb intakes. Doesn't have 12v. to fuel pump with key in "on" position. Don't have owner's manual, shop manual, etc....nothing to work with. Any troubleshooting tips appreciated. Any leads on wiring diagrams. Location of fuel pump fuze, etc. would be very helpful. tks
  24. From it I got answers to two questions, one of which seemed to be befuddling others. The location/position of the Cylinder Head Cover Plate (that was in the way of accessing the seat nut) ... According to this manual, it appears to be on the right rear cylinder and the lip is facing upwards at the rear, thus getting in the way of accessing the seat nut. The PO gave me this little bag with a very small allen wrench and screw...he said he had no idea what it was for. This manual explained that. Both above answers are on page 8 of the manual. EDIT... here I go, getting my left and right mixed up .... I meant to say LEFT above...am I right?
