  1. A long time ago, in the days of B.C. (before crash), there was a thread with this title. I had bookmarked it, but post crash now it's gone. IIRC the information, someone had described how he put regular headlights in the passing lamps housings that had both high and low beams to them. I would really like to find this information again, especially what lamps were used and where to find them. Anybody have any information on this?
  2. As long as its above freezing and I have a reasonable expectation of arriving dry, I'll ride to work. Last year, the cold started getting to my hands. I wore pretty good gloves with a separate glove liner. In the low to mid 30's, my fingers still got cold and the combination glove/liner was so thick it was hard to hit switches and the throttle was harder to control. I thought about heated grips, but I wasn't too sure about how to change them out. I didn't want to spend $100+ and find out they didn't fit or just felt wrong. I had seen some heated wraps and I think Goose made a home-made set of wraps but I wanted something a little more permanent. I may have found my solution. I bought a DualStar Heated Grip Kit. http://www.dual-star.com/index2/Rider/heated_grip_kit1.htm I also bought Grip Puppies. http://www.casporttouring.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=GPLARGE&Category_Code=grips I don't have a real problem with the stock grips, but I figured a little more size for these big hands and a little more padding couldn't hurt. I simply stuck the heating elements on top of my stock grips and put the puppies over everything. It was in the low 40's this morning. I rode without the glove liners and with the heaters on low. Once in a while I had to open my grip a little to let some air in to cool things down a bit. Time will tell if the foam holds up to the heat ok, but for now, I love what I've got! My wife's hands get cold real easy. She is a little reluctant to ride in what I consider just cool weather. I think I may get a set and put them on the rear grab bars. Might give us a few more ride days.
  3. i know a 4 letter word , but fri. it will be out the 90s , and low will be in the mid 50s

  5. I have had my 86 Venture Royale checked over by the dealer and no safety problems have been found but the icon on my display indicating low brake fluid is either on solid or flashing most of the time. Is it really caused by low brake fluid? If so, how much fluid should I have in the reservoir? Perhaps there is a level sensor problem. Has anyone else experienced the same thing? If so how did you resolve the problem. The light is quite annoying at night.
  6. No it was on my First Gen, but it was still a thrill. A friend of mine took me up in his "Experimental" plane today that he built himself. It is a beautiful two seat powerhouse that was a blast on a Sunday afternoon. We made a low pass back by the airport at over 200 mph, it was a blast to see how fast the ground moves past you at over 200 mph.....

  8. ok so i'm currently the high bidder on these RK mufflers at an insane low price right now what will i need to do to make them fit my 84 royale? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ROAD-KING-STOCK-MUFFLERS-NEW-TAKE-OFFS-NR_W0QQitemZ220131354857QQihZ012QQcategoryZ35573QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  9. Hi everyone, does anyone know how we can get more low end out of our venture's.
  10. OK - so the motorcycle guy replaces the front fork springs. Compressor runs, pressure builds up nicely and holds - BUT - there is no difference between low and high pressure on the front suspension. Front end bounces down just as easily on high pressure (17 psi) as on low pressure (7 psi) Previously I could see the forks extending when the pressure went up, and theren was a noticble differencem but not now. No error messages on the computer read out. 1987 venture royale. Any ideas about what went wrong? Or what to do for a fix?
  11. Ok so here is an interesting question, I have an 84 venture royale I had it sitting idling and the voltage guage kept going a lil lower then the engine stalled out. the bike was running for a bit I was trying to work the cob webs out from not running for so long. my question is does the stator on the venture not put out alot of power at a low idle? I think it does idle a lil low so I was thinking it might not be putting out enough power unless I raise the idle. when I rolled on the throttle the power came up so it was produceing enough power if i was riding it. is this common for the venture or is my idle just set too low?
  12. While on a ride Saturday evening, my light started blinking indicating my battery. When I got home, sure enough, several cells in the battery were low. I picked up some distilled water and filed it back up. The point I want to make is the next time you are tinkering with your bike, pull the cover off and look to see how full the battery is. And if is low, make sure you fill it with distilled water. You may have cells that are low and the sensor may not be picking it up because that particular cell is not that low. This will ruin a good battery if left too long low on water. RandyA

I am in the market for a touring bike and have the opportunity for purchase a very low mileage 2003 Venture. Is there any thing I need to know about the 2003 model year or the marque?
