  1. Thanks to all the help we're getting, the new shop is taking shape. CdnDave helped out a lot with building a loft in the garage attached to the house, so that I would have permission to do some reno in the shop for better accommodations. Wizard765 has been very busy pulling wires from here to there and arguing with the owner,,,, usually the owner let;s him have his way. Son Allan came down to help out raising the loft 18" so it was more usable. No pictures, but Arnold, a freind, came down with a new insulated sectional door and installed it. All in all, a lot done so far. Thanks guys. Now that you found it, guess you're welcome anytime.
  2. After nearly dumping my 1984 first gen today, I need to lower this beast a bit for my short...ahem...inseam. I can not get both feet flat and it is a lot of weight to hold on your toes. Any ideas. Don't need much but and inch or two would help.
  3. Finally got a chance to ride to work yesterday, was a balmy 43 when I left for work, 1st time in over a month I have ridden either of my bikes. Will be riding again today, it is 34 now ,still a lot better than it was for the past 4 weeks. Hopefully spring is just around the corner. .....................................................................................................
  4. Just in case I have not mentioned it in the past; I HATE WINTER! And snow and ice and freezing cold and everything to do with winter. I hope I have made myself clear. OH YA I HATE WINTER A LOT! :crying:
  5. Their site seems to be down so I can't contact them to inquire about issues I am having with their light system (under the saddle bags).. a bunch of the wiring had to be redone as the crimping wasn't complete on one side requiring me to undo most of it and getting it redone properly.. tres odd. Though the lights looks great and give an additional splash of "see me lights", I'm wondering how problematic these will be after a full season of in the rain, road grime and heavy road bumps and vibes.. I have RK pipes on my bike and already had to make a lot of adjustments to get them to clear the bottom of the lights.. If you have these on your bike and can shed some light on your experiences with them, I'd greatly appreciate it.. A lot of extra time spent re-wiring them sorta makes me leery on how well they will hold up to the test of time.. cheers
  6. Do I have to remove the pumpkin and rear tire on a 1988 Venture to get the drive shaft out? I tried to find information in the maint book but no luck. It looks like you might be able to do it but do you have to slide the pumpkin back some way? I am still very new to this bike but am sure haveing a lot of fun with it. Hope I get to ride it soon! Ed
  7. Well even though this may not be the right location I need all the help I can get. I have a second interview tomorrow for a local job. It is not the dream job but it is in my field and could be very stable, which is very good. So here goes, any one that has a few extra prayers in them and would send them my way I would be eternally great full. The last interview went well and I felt pretty good about it before and after I left the interview. Well I was thinking I could do it on my own and then I realized I needed a little (a lot) of divine intervention. So I asked for help and asked that if nothing else I would be happy about presenting myself and who I am. Sometime when you go to interviews you try to tell the interviewer what they want to hear. I never was that kind of guy but It is easy to do. Anyway as I said the interview went well and I have been called back for a second interview on Thursday. I sure could use the help of the Man up stairs to give me the presence of mind to represent myself just as I did during the first interview. I look at it like this, as long as I am me and don't tell them what I think they want to hear Vs reality I will be happy with the out come no matter what. So if you could bend His ear a little to tell Him I could use His help again I would greatly appreciate it. And yes I will be asking for a little make that a lot of help directly myself. Thank all GIG Steve
  8. The oddest thing happened today...there was this large, bright, yellow thing in the sky today and well after 40 days and nights of rain I just had to take a couple hours and hit the road. 40 miles aren't a lot, but it's better than sitting on trigger in the garage and pretending! vrrrrm, vrrrrm! take care all and remember, spring is only three months away.
  9. I'd just like to wish everyone on this site a very merry Christmas! 11. Thats what a guy told me at the Conawingo dam. While I was watching the eagles fly around at the lower parking lot. So...I had to go. I heard it was a kool bar setup for MC riders. Outside bar, horse shoes, bands etc. No problems from the locals. Not even dirty looks. The big chat on the lot was the goldwing and its airbags. Heard a HD guy say he would have one if he rode more or further...lol I liked the place, back in the day I could of had some big fun there.. The chopper almost backed into me when he was pulling out. If I had not yelled at him.[i was standing right next to the bike] He would have scartched his custom paint job..No doubt. Just me and the wing and a new triumph besides the HDs'
  12. Some knew of Peg's Mom's passing and the extra bills that hits us hard, well it hit even harder this time around. I went to the doctor feeling I had the Flu or something but he said I was a walking dead man my blood pressure was out of this world so I was rushed to the E.R. and had a lot of tubes sticking in me. They finally got me back down, they did a lot test and said my heart was in good shape and my blood count seem to be OK?. They did not know why my blood pressure was so high? They was really scared about it? . Peg was not in good shape either just loosing her Mom and now she was worried about me passing. I have to go back next week for a follow up with my Doctor. I went back to work at Wal-mart (second job) to help with the added bills and my Doctor told me that was not a good thing. May have been the cause of me going down? With all this happening and the extra bills added on, I will need to sell my bikes:( to help Pay off bills untill then I'll have to work at Wal-mart untill things get better. ? or worse? So if you know anyone looking for a nice 2003 Venture or 2001 Gold Wing give me a PM . I still have a loan on each. God Bless Buddy

  14. I am a little late in posting this; I guess because I don't know how to handle not taking a lot of pictures at the Barber's Motorsports Park Meet and Eat. It was rainy while we were there, so I didn't take my camera. But we met Pick and Redbeard at Cracker Barrell Saturday morning. Then Blackjack and Randyr joined us there for breakfast. One of our stops, I found some Blackjack gum for Blackjack! I think he liked it!!!! Pick and Redeard were unable to come with us because of a prior commitment so off we went to Birmingham. The vintage show was great; there were a lot of vendors with a LOT of old parts and some really neat old bikes! We got to watch old vintage bike races and unfortunately while we were there, three bikes crashed, all in the same area. The slick track may have had something to do with it. The riders appeared to be alright, except one walked to the ambulance. We had the fun of watching stunts on the Wall of Death - I have attached a clip of one that I found, (its not the same group we saw), but it will give you an idea of what they do! They had go carts going around as well! Really cool! [ame=http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1425957770881170950]Wall of Death Motorcycle Stunt[/ame]# We rode around the park on the tram and then it was time to meet my daughter Jacque at the Bass Pro Shop right next door! Wow, that is a really cool store (I have never been in one!)!!!! We left there to eat at Jim N Nicks in Trussville and enjoyed some really great BBQ!!! Great company, great time by all!!!
  15. Canadian Tire has a new product line and I found these for $30 ... halogen 35watt. They look a lot better than the ones I had plus they're brighter. First pic is what I had.
  16. Quickstep and I had a great day (Sunday) doing the annual Patriots M/C poker run for prostate cancer research. Left at 8am, and got home at 7pm Great to catch up with a lot of people I hadn't seen since the accident (2 1/2 yrs) and to make new friends also. :clap2:A lot of the members are Vietnam Vets, as well as some still serving in the forces. I live in a navy town and have always supported their fund raiser's etc. Great bunch of folk's and they were interested in my "quike" and loved the fact I was still riding.
  17. Wow I can't believe the difference, a lot less weight and a whole lot warmer, not to mention the ease of getting into them. Has anyone else made the transition snow bibs? Oh and my knees a lot warmer too.
  18. My black cloud is still hanging around I guess. As most of you know I lost my daily ride and trashed the clutch in my Saab. Anyway I was stuck without transportation. Stopped at car lot and grabbed a 2002 Tarus that seemed to run fair. It was dirty. I cleaned it up and it has scratches and stains all over. To make it worse the Warden (trying to help) washed it whith a plastic abrasiave pad and Soft Scrub. Now it does have scratches all over. That is not my problem she was trying to help and just didn't know what she was doing. They could probally be buffed out. My problem is I drove it for over 2 months. Had no reason to jack it up tires are good and it runs as good as a new one. Started making a thumping in the rear when you hit a bump the right way. So I looked under it and one of the pins that connect the rear strut to the sway bar was rusted into. No big deal I stopped at the parts store and picked one up to replace it. Body wise this thing looks good except for all the scratches. I started to jack it up to replace the pin. Jack went against plastic trim that runs along the rocker panels where it is supposed to go. Jack went up thur rocker panel and car didn't go up . Several handfulls of rust fell out from under the trim. I stopped and didn't go any farther before jack came thru floorboad. Question is did I just pay 4000.00 bucks to have a car for 2 months. Car lot owner's assistant promised they would call me back. Hasn't happened and I don't think he will unless he wants me to pay for anything they do to this thing. Didn't mean to write a book just a little ticked with this and thought someone would know what I ought to do. I was liking the Tarus and it runs great. Not as powerfull as my Buick and not as good on gas milage but I just got in a hurry and grabbed something with wheels on it. Thought I had gotten lucky for a change. NOPE!! This rust was complletly hidden by the trim. Is the car lot owner legal obligation to help me with this?? There was a 1000 mile or something like that power train warrenty. Trip to beach took care of that.
  19. Okay, here are pics of the Spiegler thumb brake that Squeeze kindly helped me purchase. Quickstep is putting it on today Gonna have a lot of stuff on the left handlebar! Will post more pics when installed
  20. Thinking about getting a Gopro camera. Can anyone tell me if it comes with the suction cup mount. One of the guys from our rally last year had one and we had a lot of fun with it. I snowmobile and hunt also so the possibilities would be enless.
  21. I know a lot of you run K&N Air filters.. I have to ask, how often are you cleaning these things out, 'recharging' them as it were? I installed mine last summer, 31,000 miles ago to be exact and just now recharging them (they are soaking with the cleaner right now).. and they are just like brand new except for the spot right in front of where the air comes into the box.. a 2 inch diameter grey spot.. the rest of it is nice and red.. wow.. are you kidding me?? I have K&N's on my VSTAR, mind you they sit out in the open so they require more frequent cleaning but is this right, only once a year? And I've been up and down a lot of dirt roads, rain, dust fog and birds.. I'm impressed!! Or should I be doing them more often on spec anyway? I just did the hot hot water from inside-out rinsing and there was a lot of fresh RED oil floating around the tub.. almost as if these were brand new.. wow.
  22. Okay, I just got back from Dallas a while ago. What a great ride! Comfy, painless, and smooth! Rick Butler did a great job on my seat and I think it may have renewed some of his interest in the 1st Gen seats. As if I cared a lot about that... I was in hog ,er, I mean Royale heaven on the way home! I mean it - Before I was in pain before 100 miles passed. Today's ride was about 400 miles and I had no pain at all. That means a lot to me. Rick is also a wealth of knowledge on our bikes and I had a great time talking with him. Rick, I hope I didn't distract you too much. I just wish we had a chance to go for a ride together. Oh, well, there's always the International Rally! Can't wait to meet some more of you folks there. Thanks again, Rick!
  23. I just bought a video camera to record my 2 grand kids and our travels. What kind of program do I need to add music to the videos when i put them on a DVD. I'm hoping there is a reasonable one out there and it should make the pictures a lot more enjoyable! I realize its not bike related, but thanks in advance for any help. I'm like a babe in the woods on this!
  24. We made it home safe and I hope everyone elsed did also. Just want to thank all that made the appearance and especially Lewis for organizing this event. Great to finally meet some of the folks in person. We had a really good time... Here is a few photos...I know a lot of folks took a lot more and hope to see them here also.
  25. Hey there campers, Cindi and I are heading to the Shades State Park in Indiana the weekend of Oct 16 - 18. There are a lot of sites open for that weekend if anyone from the IL/IN/MI/WI is interested. One caveat, while the sites are great, there is no electricity. There is a comfort station with a shower and flush toilets as well as numerous vault toilets that are always clean. We're going mainly for the hiking and the follow-up drinking, but for those who want to ride, there's a lot of real nice roads in the area. The covered bridge routes are available on a map in the area. Hope some of you can make it. chuck
