Hey gang, first of all MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! Now for my question, I am looking for a chrome V4 emblem to put on each of the saddle bags. I have looked everywhere and can not find them any where. Does anybody on here know where I can get a set?

I picked up a cycle magazine the other day at the clinic and the first page it opened to had a Motul add with a 1st. Gen. in it. I looked on the cover and it's from Sept. of 89. http://webpages.charter.net/theskes/Rider%20Magazine.jpg http://webpages.charter.net/theskes/Motul%20Add%20with%201st%20Gen.jpg

Ever see a 2 seat hydaplane a small version of the one with the pontoons on the bottom. Saw some on a trailer the other day and did not get to talk to the driver before he took off. They looked pretty neat and would like to find out who makes them and where there located.....................Ron

This is a day that will go down in the anals of VenureRider history. As you folks may know, ythere was a breakfast Meet and Eat held in St. Paul, MN this morning. And......... (drum roll please)................... Black owl was the only one that showed up on a scoot. Of course I looked like a drowned rat when I got there. Got about 10 miles down the road from the house when the sky's opened up...........

A friend of mine has a 86 Goldwing 1200 Interstate and his seat padding is gone. The seat looks good on the outside, but the inside padding is shot. He is setting on the metal seat pan which is very uncomfortable. He has looked on eBay, but had no luck. Does anyone has any suggestions on a good fix that doesn't break the bank?

My intercom has just begun to blink out at times. If I thump the stereo, it will come back on almost every time, but I usually just wait for the next bump in the road to kick it back on. It sure seems like a short, but I don't have a clue what's inside the stereo/intercom case. I looked under "Known Issues", but that is not yet restored since the site's crash. I have a new set of J&M phones/mics. Does anyone know what the problem might be & how I might fix it ??

I knew that i needed a new back tire and it should have been here last week but somehow over night shipping turned into 5 days, enough about that. Like i said, i knew the tire was slick. I looked at it every day to make sure it was still just slick and not worse. The problem is that with the bumper and all the trim, it is difficult to see the tire without a close inspection. I could only see about 6 inches of the tread through this hole that is suppose to have a rubber insert in it. Everytime i looked at it, I saw a slick tire; but it still had rubber there. Well, I got my new tire in finally. Tuesday. When i looked at the tire I saw what you see in the picture. It is only half of the tire. the other half still has rubber and is what i was looking at. I had just ridden this home, about a 25 mile trip, Making about 70 MPH on Hwy 49. And it was hot...............All i can say is thank you Jesus!!! They say He watches over Old Folks and fools. I guess that means i got double protection. Now, go look at your back tire, and look at it good. BTW, The other picture is how i got the tire off. With all the dress items it is almost impossible to get the tire out from under the bike with it just on the center stand. This time i put the kick stand down on a 2x4 and set me floor jack under the pivot point of the center stand. This allowed me to raise and tilt the bike allowing easier removal of the tire. It worked almost flawlessly. The jack should have been placed further back though. It was almost at the balance point. When i put the tire back on, the bike almost tilted back and it tried to spin aroung at the same time.

Has anyone tried removing that blasted air box and installing 4 individual K&N style filters? When I changed my plugs, I looked at how deep the air box is and looked at the cutout in the tank. Me thinks there might be enough room for some small stand up filters.

My clutch has started to slip in 4th and 5th. It's not too bad yet but I know it's time to rebuild it. I have never done it before and I need some advice about what parts to order. The pictures for the Barnett conversion are pretty helpful and I have a manual so I think I will be ok. I have no idea what parts to order though. I have looked online but everything seems to be for other bikes. I have an '89 VR. Can anyone help with what I need to do the job? Any help would be appreciated. I could also use some advice regarding where I can get the parts for a good price. Thanks

Hi, My '84's choke works but won't stay put & slides back off again unless I hold it in place. Is there an adjustment somewhere to increase the friction of the choke cable or mechanism? I have looked through the manual but can't find anyu referece to this. Any advice welcome. Thanks, Brian H.

I've been chasing poor mileage on my 87 for the year I've owned it. GeorgeS has written more than once that holes in the slide diaphragms will cause poor mileage and are common at this age. I finally pulled one this morning and guess what - it's bad! (Almost looked as if they had never been removed before.) Several obvious cracks, light shines right through them. The slide itself, needle, and jet looked OK. They are SOOOO easy to pull on this bike that there was really no excuse to wait so long. What's weird is that the bike runs fine - no stumbles or hesitations, revs right up to redline, plugs are the appropriate color. Is this common, that they don't affect driveability, but hit the gas mileage? It seems like this problem would cause a lean condition, which isn't good for the engine but in some cases can actually HELP mileage... QUESTION: Are the coasting enrichener diaphragms also commonly disintegrated? One guy had that problem here recently - anyone else? What kind of problems will that cause? They are harder to get to...ughhh. COMMENT: Some have written, indeed I have done so myself, something like, "I watched the slides with air filter removed and engine running, and they all seem to be doing the same dance, so they are probably OK." I can tell you, this is NOT a valid test! In fact, just this morning, I repeated this "test" with a now-known bad diaphragm, and they still appear to dance the same. Maybe they are all cracked exactly the same. Jeremy

For a while now have had a skip at very light throttle, such as running at 40 mph on flat ground in 5th gear. And, as soon as I gave it any throttle, the skip went away. I have been thru the carbs, cleaned the pilot jets, synced them and replaced the plugs. This past week, I replaced the carb rubber manifold boots the carbs set on. Mine did have some obvious external cracks and the ones I used came off an 86 engine that I have and they look very good. Did not help a bit, ran exactly the same way. Yesterday morning I decided to remove all the YICS hoses and plug them. The two outer ones are easy to get off, but the two inner ones are hard to get to. I pulled one lose with a long pair of needle nose pliers, but on the other one, when I pulled it with the pliers, it tore into. This would have been easy with the carbs off, but I have already had the carbs off several times and I am tired of doing that. After I got the plugs on tight, I decided to replace the spark plugs again as I wanted to start fresh and to be able to try to get a reading on what the plugs looked like anyway. My son suggested I try the bike before I did anything else, but I did not want to get the engine hot. Well, when I pulled the back left cap off the plug, it came off the wire. Now these wires and caps were replaced a couple of years ago, so I did not expect them to be a problem. When I looked into the cap where the wire goes, there was green corrosion on the screw that screws into the wire. I cleaned it good and cut about a half inch off the wire and screwed it back together as far as it would go. It looked like the cap had not been screwed in good. I checked the other three caps and they looked good. I double checked the sync on the carbs and they were off some, so I adjusted them. I took the bike for a ride and it is running very good with no off idle skip. I am not sure whether the plugging of the YICS system was the problem or the cap problem, but at least it is running good again. RandyA
