  1. I'm in the market to make a couple of purchases and I wondering if the fine folks of this outstanding forum would be willing to point me in the right direction. First, I'd like to purchase some red 'bullet' lenses for my rear turn signals. I've seen them around in some pictures but I don't know where poeple have been getting them. A little guidence would be great. Second, I'd like to buy a decent lift for my RSTD. I think I read somewhere that Harbor Freight Tools sells one. Is it decent and worth the money? If not, suggestions please. Thanks everyone. Les
  2. My wife brought home a new lift for me today.I put it together and was ready to load the bike up on it, but when I looked underneath it, I am not sure where to place the lift pads. I am looking at getting one of carbon ones stands, but for now where is the best place to locate the lift? Thanks for the help.
  3. I purchased a lift adapter with legs from Carbon-One nearly two months ago. Yesterday was the first time I got to use my new toy, and it sure works well! Lifting the bike has never been easier or safer. The lift adapter is light-years ahead of using wooden blocks or other cobbled-up spacers. The legs turn a great product into a fabulous product. The lift adapter with the legs attached, make for an extremely stable work platform. Tire changes and other maintenance are now much easier and safer.
  4. There is a $200 off coupon in the December issue of Motor Cyclist magazine for a 1000# Harbor Freight lift. Limit 4 per coupon. I could get extras. You come get it. Thinking about mounting it in the floor, like in picture attached. Gary
  5. There is a friend of mine that is also a member here that needs prayer for his wife and family. Without going into details, she is having some complications. He may speak up later and give details. Please lift his wife up for healing and also the rest of the family. Thanks all.
  6. Just ordered my lift adapter from Larry and can't wait to try it out.
  7. My last two oil changes I noticed that when I use the sight glass as a gauge for how much oil I've added, I can only get three quarts in and it's up to to the Maximum line. And yes, I've checked the level of the garage floor and I'm using a Carbon One Lift adapter. So the question is, is this normal? Is the a second drain plug I didn't read about? Have I been running my bike low on oil all summer? Thanks
  8. I changed the rear tire on my RSV and it was a pain to get lift it? I saw this adapter on ebay anyone out there have it? Or a blueprint to make one like it? Or maybe one they want to sell? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/LOOK-YAMAHA-ALL-VENTURE-ROYALSTAR-JACK-LIFT-ADAPTER-/250880210107?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a69a034bb
  9. Today I put the bike on the lift and did as Ponch said and put a small piece of rubber on the passenger side of the center stand to stop the stand just about 1/8 inch from hitting my pipes. I then did as some recommended at Freebirds MD and used a grinder to very slowly and precisely grind the tip of my side stand off just a very little. This is to let it pass the center stand. I used a wet rag to keep it cool while doing this, and so not to cause the chrome to come off later. I got it to 1/8" of the center stand to pass. I then sprayed some black gloss paint into the lid of the can and used a twisted piece of paper towel to carefully paint the grind end of the side stand. Once fixed I then put my hydraulic floor jack under the bike while on the lift and raised the bike enough so that I could put the center stand down. Worked great, solid on the lift. I also cut myself a 9 1/4" 2x4 and put it my saddle bag. Very satisfied customer Ponch. Thank you and thanks to all for advise. 10. 2005 Escape I folded down the back seat on the escape to load something up...then when I went to lift the seat, the middle seatbelt won't "un ratchet" to allow the seat to lift up! I can get it ( the seat) to move about 6" and that's about it. (I had to be very careful how I worded this post to avoid Viagara ads!) I've tried feeding the belt back into the slot..but it won't release tension. I can't pull it out at all. Any suggestions on how to release the tension on a seat belt? The retractor is near the top of the backrest in the middle back seat and is not very accessable when the seat is folded down.
  11. Just wondering how or if you all manage to get your bike on the lift by yourself. I had my daughter to help me as I road the bike up on the lift. I first set two milk crates beside the lift, one on each side, then road up and used these to set my feet upon when I stopped. Then my daughter tightened the clamp on the front tire and also helped get the paint can and short piece 2x4 under my side stand. Surely, or is there a better way, and maybe a safer way of doing this by myself ???? The lift is from Harbor Freight item number 91764, the red one. :confused24: Fuzzy
  12. I am tired of bending over working on bikes so I am going to use the coupon for the 299 Harbor Freight lift. The coupon says I can get three lifts so if anyone from Iowa wants one off my coupon let me know ASAP.
  13. Carbon One your lift adpter works great. I tried it out today. That not me in the picture. It's a neighbor.
  14. ***********************SOLD****************** Don't mean to step on toes here, but this would be waste for someone that needs a carbonone lift.

    Bike Lifts

Don’t know if this is right place or not,, I just became a Dealer for K&L Supply, and replaced the lift that I had in the shop. The other one went back to the guy it was borrowed from,,, Anyway they are having a sale until April first on their lifts, and a new electric/hydraulic 1100 pound just out. I got the MC655R lift to use, and it is the Kats meow If any one has been looking, you know that K&L is the Top of the Lift line. I can get K&L stuff dropped shipped at really decent prices for now. This is the lift I have now,,, turn the volume down the music is a little anoying,,,,, [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=roNDAn2aOms&feature=channel_video_title]YouTube - K&L MC655R Hydraulic Lift[/ame]
  16. decided to get a lift for my 2000RSV. thought i would try the new tractor supply and buy the big red 1500lb lift for 119.00. lift seemed ok but noticed the welds on the locking mech were bad and was bent too. I had them order a new one and it came back just as bad. needless to say i returned it and went to sears to look at the craftsman 1500 for the same price. I had them open the box so i could compare before i took it home. The craftsman lift seemed far superior in most ways--foot pedal release, spring loaded locking mech, attacheable T-handle to move were a couple. **best news it was on sale for 99.00. guess now it is time to get a lift adapter or takle making one myslef.
  17. I've got my RSV on a lift to replace the fairing. While there I checked for looseness of the steering head bearings by grabbing the front end & rocking it. Never had any problems with it but thought I'd check while on the lift. I've got 40k on it. Don't see any looseness at all. So do I need to remove and retighten the nut or just leave well enough alone? Also, is there any greasing to be done? I don't see any grease around the area, but do see dirt that looks like it's glommed onto grease that's seeped out over the years...not a lot, but some. Just wondering if I need to do anything or if I should just leave it alone? Thanks for the help in advance...JR
  18. Ok....I bought a lift for my '84 yesterday, and other projects, and have been looking at the clearance issue with the pipes. In reading the older threads the general acceptable idea was to simpley lift it by the pipes. Yeah I know, tough stuff, double wall and all that but looking for a better idea. And hockey pucks are NOT in the game plan. In talking with Dano he's onto the same idea I'm looking at as I want it to be one piece and able to slip it under from the front and line up with both frame rails so a "U" shape is interesting. So you 2nd Gen guys have Carbon One and his adaptor........... So any 1st Gen guys out there with a design idea or an adaptor you made? Thanks Mike
  19. I bought a lift adaptor from someone on the forum and have had no issues with it. Don't remember even what I paid , not really caring. Friend of mine saw one on ebay for about 55 bucks. Just wondering if anyone is familiar if they are of the quality that our member makes them?
  20. I just completed building a "lift frame" for my 2008 Venture. I would like to thank "Carbon one" for his pictures and diagram of his lift frame. It really helped me out in making mine. Carbon one used 1&1/4" tubing for his lift frame. I was a little uncomfortable with this size tubing so I really when over the edge for strength. I used 2" X1/4" thick square steel for the main frame and the 1&1/4 for the cross beams. I also installed an additional support cross member. Its simple to build and I will be writing up an article with pictures to put in our site here for all to see and possibly use. Hope that is helps someone out. If you need the directions now with pictures you can write me at Dan4852@aol.com and I will send you photo's and a diagram. I feel very secure with my bike up in the air with the 2" steel framing. The bike is perfectly level and very secure. Note: Because I used the 2" steel framing with the 1&1/4 on top for cross beams I was unable to get it fully under the bike. My motorcycle jack would not go down any more so I raised the bike up by driving it up on running board. Just a little heigth was all I needed. It went right under then and up went the bike. I get goose bumps with the 2' steel beams!! ha ha

  22. Menards has a red bike lift on sale for $64. I think I'm going to get one but first want to hear if anyone here has one and what they think of it.
  23. I have a bike lift I bought from Harbor Freight years ago for my Suzuki LC1500. Well it seems it doesnt quite fit under my 1999 RSV. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. TIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  24. I need some ideas on a safe system to lift my 2008 Venture for oil changes, cleaning, etc. Any ideas will be welcomed. I have a jack I used on my HD Heritage, but there are too many obstacles under the 2008 Venture to lift the bike evenly. I believe I will have to fabricate a jig to attach to the lift I currently have. Any ideas??
