  1. Did you ever wonder why there are no dead penguins on the ice in Antarctica - Where do they go ? Wonder no more ! ! ! It is a known fact that the penguin is a very ritualistic bird which lives an extremely ordered and complex life. The penguin is very committed to its family and will mate for life, as well as maintaining a form of compassionate contact with its offspring throughout its life. If a penguin is found dead on the ice surface, other members of the family and social circle have been known to dig holes in the ice, using their vestigial wings and beaks, until the hole is deep enough for the dead bird to be rolled into and buried. The male penguins then gather in a circle around the fresh grave and sing: "Freeze a jolly good fellow" "Freeze a jolly good fellow." Then they kick him in the ice hole. :rotfl:
  2. Any chance of having the "quick reply" option I've often seen on sites like these at the bottom of every thread so I don't have to click "reply" at the end of a thread in order to reply? Just makes life much easier and I really use it a ton if it's available.
  3. Ok, I'm wondering....... I used the NKG DPR8EA plugs for a couple years and wasn't happy with the life span. I changed to the NKG DP8EA plugs a year or so ago. Not much difference in how long they last. I run them at .035 gap and they are consistant with a nice tan burn on all of them. No fouling and gaps are barely off spec. I can clean and regap them and not get a lot of improvement. It's the same story every time. The bike starts and runs great for about 4,500 to 5,000 miles and all of a sudden it gets picky about starting. I mean real picky. Down right bitter about starting. It will always start, but it's a stand off for a while. A quick change of plugs and she's back to touch of the button. Same way every time. I expect more life from a plug than that but I can not find a reason for the the plugs failing at such a regular schedule. None of the obvious stuff anyway. Caps and wires were new two years ago and still test like new. No corrosion, no resistance issues. The battery isn't the problem either. It's full charge and as soon I change the plugs she's like new again. Any suggestions? Mike

This is pretty good. Watch till the end and you'll see it in slow motion. At the very least, he saved her some serious hurt and maybe even her life. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMujgAAyH-I]YouTube - ‪Evan Longoria's Crazy Bare Hand Catch‬‏[/ame]
  5. So, Trying to figure out some things on my '05. What is the typical expected life for the Brake Pads. I replaced the rears 2 years ago and now have put on 14,000 Kms (yup Canadian Eh!) on this set of rear brake pads. They were EDC FB??? for the dealer. Sounding like on the rear, the caliper is not fully releasing in the past few days? Grease to the brake pistons required? No pads on the front since I became the owner of this unit. Getting a squeaking noise from the fronts now, so thinking it's time. Total mileage on the scooter is 50,500 Kms. Any feedback (and I know I will get your thoughts) is appreciated.
  6. What kind of life people are getting out of the Odyssey batteries? I've had mine a little over 5 years now and I'm wondering I if I should start thinking of replacing it. It's always on a battery tender and it's given me no indication it's going to fail but you never no.
  7. A freind posted this on Facebook. I had to share....... I thought it sumed things up nicely!

  9. There are 5 things in life you cannot recover: A stone...after it's thrown. A word...after it is said. An occasion...after it's missed. The time...after it's gone. A person...after they die. Life is short. Break the rules. Forgive quickly. Kiss slowly. Love truly. Laugh uncontrollably. And never regret anything that made you smile, Enjoy Life Don't let the special times, things, and persons pass you by. I just had to share this with you!
  10. A while back I remember a thread about a tachometer program for a pc that used a microphone to determine the rpm of and engine by listening to the sound of the engine. I had the program downloaded, but never got a chance to try it out before I lost it. Now I can not find it again for life of me. Does anybody remember it and know the link? Bill Never mind, I finally found it here http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=38904&highlight=tachometer+program
  11. She, my bike that is, and I are finally getting a Yamaha shop close to home. Grand opening this week end. Starting Friday and going through Sunday. Now the other she in my life, might think this is bad for us, but Naaahh, not me. http://www.caverunmotorsports.com/ Fuzzy
  12. Life Explained!! On the first day, God created the dog and said, "Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. For this, I will give you a life span of twenty years." The dog said, "That's a long time to be barking How about only ten years and I'll give you back the other ten?" So God agreed... On the second day, God created the monkey and said, "Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh. For this, I'll give you a twenty-year life span." The monkey said, "Monkey tricks for twenty years? That's a pretty long time to perform. How about I give you back ten like the dog did?" And God agreed... On the third day, God created the cow and said, "You must go into the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer's family. For this, I will give you a life span of sixty years." The cow said, "That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years. How about twenty and I'll give back the other forty?" And God agreed, again… On the fourth day, God created humans and said, "Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. For this, I'll give you twenty years." But the human said, "Only twenty years? Could you possibly give me my twenty, the forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the dog gave back; that makes eighty, okay?" "Okay," said God. "You asked for it." So that is why for our first twenty years, we eat, sleep, play and enjoy ourselves. For the next forty years, we slave in the sun to support our family. For the next ten years, we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren. And for the last ten years, we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone. Life has now been explained to you. There is no need to thank me for this valuable information. I'm doing it as a public service. If you are looking for me, I will be on the front porch.
  13. I want to live my next life backwards! You start out dead and get that out of the way right off the bat. Then, you wake up in a nursing home feeling better every day. When you are kicked out of the home for being too healthy, you spend several years enjoying your retirement and collecting benefit checks. When you start work, you get a gold watch on your first day. You work 40 years or so, getting younger every day until pretty soon you're too young to work. So then, you go to high school: play sports, date, drink, and party. As you get even younger, you become a kid again. You go to elementary school, play, and have no responsibilities. In a few years, you become a baby, and everyone runs themselves ragged keeping you happy. You spend your last 9 months floating peacefully in luxury, spa-like conditions: central heating, room service on tap. Until finally . . . You finish off as an orgasm. I rest my case.
  14. He was getting old and paunchy And his hair was falling fast, And he sat around the Legion, Telling stories of the past. Of a war that he once fought in And the deeds that he had done, In his exploits with his buddies; They were heroes, every one. And 'tho sometimes to his neighbors His tales became a joke, All his buddies listened quietly For they knew whereof he spoke. But we'll hear his tales no longer, For old Bob has passed away, And the world's a little poorer For a Soldier died today. He won’t be mourned by many, Just his children and his wife. For he lived an ordinary, Very quiet sort of life. He held a job and raised a family, Going quietly on his way; And the world won't note his passing, 'Tho a Soldier died today. When politicians leave this earth, Their bodies lie in state, While thousands note their passing, And proclaim that they were great. Papers tell of their life stories From the time that they were young But the passing of a Soldier Goes unnoticed, and unsung. Is the greatest contribution To the welfare of our land, Someone who breaks his promise And cons his fellow man? Or the ordinary fellow Who in times of war and strife, Goes off to serve his country And offers up his life? The politician's stipend And the style in which he lives, Are often disproportionate, To the service that he gives. While the ordinary Soldier, Who offered up his all, Is paid off with a medal And perhaps a pension, small. It is not the politicians With their compromise and ploys, Who won for us the freedom That our country now enjoys. Should you find yourself in danger, With your enemies at hand, Would you really want some cop-out, With his ever waffling stand? Or would you want a Soldier-- His home, his country, his kin, Just a common Soldier, Who would fight until the end? He was just a common Soldier, And his ranks are growing thin, But his presence should remind us We may need his like again. For when countries are in conflict, We find the Soldier's part Is to clean up all the troubles That the politicians start. If we cannot do him honor While he's here to hear the praise, Then at least let's give him homage At the ending of his days. Perhaps just a simple headline In the paper that might say: "OUR COUNTRY IS IN MOURNING, A SOLDIER DIED TODAY."
  15. Well Rocket (Paul) and Grump (Rod) were able to get off this morning. I find myself thankful that they did have an extended stay and in that I must thank the crappy weather. I would match Grump's story telling against any comer... the guy can talk! Rocket has his hands full. Rocket is saying he wants this to be a trip of a life time and I hope he finds plenty of joy and has more than his expectations filled. It is a honor to be among his friends, and I am certainly going to miss his company and am so grateful that he found time to stop in and shower us with his presence. I believe they will try to make it to Bozeman Montana today.
  16. Melanoma can end your life! Skin Cancer. We don't talk about it and probably because we just don't know. Please pass this on to any young people you know. I was young once and understood the feeling of invincibility. They need to know that they can be invincible, they just need to be vigilante. http://dcmf.ca/ Thomas
  17. Now as a guy I find a need for a "Special" type of card on certian holidays. They just ain't out there. Hallmark don't have the kind of stuff to show how I feel. "I've always wanted to have someone to hold, someone to love. After having met you, I've changed my mind." "I must admit, you brought religion into my life. I never believed in Hell till I met you." "Looking back over the years that we've been together, I can't help but wonder: What the heck was I thinking?" "As the days go by, I think of how lucky I am that you're not here to ruin it for me." "If I get only one thing for Christmas, I hope it's your sister." "As I grow older, I think of all the gifts you've given me. Like the need for therapy..." "Thanks for being a part of my life! I never knew what evil was before this!" "Money is tight, times are hard, here's your freaking Christmas card!!!" "Someday I hope to get married, just not to you." "I just want you to know that I'm sorry for what happened, especially since you survived." "Happy Birthday! You look great for your age... Almost Lifelike!" "Congratulations on getting married! It's not every day you decide to ruin your life!" "I always wanted to be rich, powerful, and well respected. While I'm dreaming, I wish you weren't so damn ugly." "Congratulations on your wedding day! Too bad nobody likes your wife…" "I'm so miserable without you; it's almost as if you were here."
  18. kenw

    Heehaw!!!

After about 3 months with a bad back, the therapy finally kicked in good enough to see if I could hold the bike up! I can, The weather is great, and I'm finally on the road (sort of)! Life is Good!!!
  19. "I have plans for you," says the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you; plans to give you a hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11-12 After living what I felt was a 'decent' life, my time on earth came to the end. The first thing I remember is sitting on a bench in the waiting room of what I thought to be a court house. The doors opened and I was instructed to come in and have a seat by the defense table. As I looked around I saw the 'prosecutor.' He was a villainous looking gent who snarled as he stared at me. He definitely was the most evil person I have ever seen. I sat down and looked to my left and there sat My Attorney, kind and gentle looking man whose appearance seemed so familiar to me, I felt I knew Him. The corner door flew open and there appeared the Judge in full flowing robes. He commanded an awesome presence as He moved across the room I couldn't take my eyes off of Him. As He took His seat behind the bench, He said, 'Let us begin.' The prosecutor rose and said, 'My name is Satan and I am here to showyou why this man belongs in hell.' He proceeded to tell of lies that I told, things that I stole, and In the past when I cheated others. Satan told of other horrible Perversions that were once in my life and the more he spoke, the further down in my seat I sank. I was so embarrassed that I couldn't look at anyone, even my own Attorney, as the Devil told of sins that even I had completely forgotten about. As upset as I was at Satan for telling all these things about me, I was equally upset at My Attorney who sat there silently not offering any form of defense at all. I know I had been guilty of those things, but I had done some good in my life - couldn't that at least equal out part of the harm I'd done? Satan finished with a fury and said, 'This man belongs in hell, he is guilty of all that I have charged and there is not a person who can prove otherwise.' When it was His turn, My Attorney first asked if He might approach the bench. The Judge allowed this over the strong objection of Satan, and beckoned Him to come forward. As He got up and started walking, I was able to see Him in His full splendor and majesty. I realized why He seemed so familiar;this was Jesus representing me, my Lord and my Savior. He stopped at the bench and softly said to the Judge, 'Hi, Dad,' and then He turned to address the court. 'Satan was correct in saying that this man had sinned, I won't deny any of these allegations. And, yes, the wages of sin is death, and this man deserves to be punished.' Jesus took a deep breath and turned to His Father with out stretched arms and proclaimed, 'However, I died on the cross so that this person might have eternal life and he has accepted Me as his Savior, so he is Mine.' My Lord continued with, 'His name is written in the Book of Life, and no one can snatch him from Me. Satan still does not understand yet. This man is not to be given justice, but rather mercy.' As Jesus sat down, He quietly paused, looked at His Father and said, 'There is nothing else that needs to be done.' 'I've done it all.' The Judge lifted His mighty hand and slammed the gavel down. The following words bellowed from His lips.. 'This man is free. The penalty for him has already been paid in full. 'Case dismissed.' As my Lord led me away, I could hear Satan ranting and raving, 'I won't give up, I will win the next one.' I asked Jesus as He gave me my instructions where to go next, 'Have you ever lost a case?' Christ lovingly smiled and said, 'Everyone that has come to Me and asked Me to represent them has received the same verdict as you, ~Paid In Full~' Rod
  20. Just A note here wishing my wife, Joyce Happy Anniversary. We've been together 44 years now or could I say just over 2/3rds of my life. Wow has it been a ride. Looking forward to the next 20 + or whatever the Lord sees fit to allow us. Larry
  21. Arrived here Tues eve for routine 2 week trip. So I thought.... Typical quake on Wed and another smaller one on Thursday. I come here often and seldom experience a quake, never mind 2 during my stays. Friday was something else. I was working in a data center when the shaking started. Holy mother of Jesus!!!!!! I'm 200 miles from the epicenter, I can only imagine what it must have been in Sendai. Long story short Tokyo is pretty much back to normal once the train service restarted on Saturday but the northern part of the country is a shambles with horrific loss of life. I'm glued to CNN, Internet and local channels trying to figure out if the nukes melting down 170 miles north are going to be a factor. I think not, this far south, but what a horrific fate for those folks up north to have survived a quake and killer wave to now have to deal with that. What ever happens in my life from now I know I'm blessed to have to been spared that. Please give your prayers for the lives lost and more prayers for the poor souls in Northern Japan trying to get through all that is going on here.
  22. Gail and I got married 27 years ago today. I won't lie, we have had our ups and downs like everyone else, but I wouldn't trade our life together for anything else. She is a wonderful, understanding wife and great mother to our son and daughter. I sometimes don't know how she has put up with me all these years. I can honestly say that she is the best part of my life. Oh....and she likes to ride as much if not more than I do.

Another beautiful morning in Jacksonville Beach. Too many people don't take the time to appreciate such things in life.
  24. Do not think Ill ever outgrow the "Dukes". I know I know poke away, but since I was a kid and fell for hotrods I always thought the general was a cool ride. One day I will own one. A little trivia for the Dukes fans here. How many colors has the General Lee been in its life??
  25. I never knew this. It's so easy to fool OLD people. I am sorry, the devil made me do it!!! I fell for it too.
