1. I put this kit on a Kawa Vulcan a few years back and pd $50 here: http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/detail.cfm?action=detail&model_ID=1&Category_ID=48&manufacturer_ID=223&product_ID=6421&sblid_name=detail I found the same ringed led lights at Advanced Auto (Discount Auto) in FL @ $6 a 2 pack & installed on my Honda with the same results! Now the store does not carry these. Cannot find these ringed led lights locally anywhere. Anyone know what I am talking about and if so where I can find them online or where?
2. Looking for any links for LED brake lights and turn signals for a 2006 Royal Star Tour Deluxe. I am also looking for tail light covers besides the standard billett one that gets taped on.
3. Just got some led accent light. Six small srtips of 5 or 6 lights per strip. 1. is it best to put them on their own on/off switch or jsut wire them into the running lights? 2. wire them up in parrallel or series (after an inline fuse of course)? For under the trunk, I was just going to tie 2 of them into the led tail light. Then 2 under the tank, one just above the radiator and maybe the last under the seat above the side covers.
4. Well I finally got my rear LED turn signals done. Now I got to get started with the front turn signals. Each rear turn signal has 20 ultra high flux LED's in them. The front signals will have about 25 of the same LED's in them. The rear stop/tail light will have 72 LED's in it. And so far there are 8 rear, 4 front, and 2 LED marker lights. That makes 176 LED's total. I attached a couple quick videos. One of the finished LED circuit board and another with the circuit board installed in the turn signal housing. I'll keep ya posted when I get the frond signals done and get all of them on the bike.

6. Taillight Bulb instead of an led board? I am considering one but I am not sure what number the bulb is ie. 1156, 1157 or if they are a total different kind of number. Also I have seen some LED bulbs that have a 90 degree bend so the light is reflected on the lens and the kind that look almost like a regular automotive bulb only with led's. HELP!!!!!!!! NOT SURE WHAT KIND TO BUY. Thanks in advance, Big Mike
7. I ordered a new 14 x 11 inch Seat pad with the " Viscoelastic molded Gell insert " as used in medical and sports applications From: http://www.amspecialtiesusa.com/gelpad.htm This is not the old standard, " Gel " material. Should be here tomorrow, and will get to testing it, and post the results. They also sell 3/4 inch Slabs of the material, for $56, if you want to redo your own seat !! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Also: Another project started, ----- I ordered from www.superbrightleds.com -- ----- 2 of their LED packs. 36 bulb, 1 1/2 inch , flat , square 1157 Replacement Bulb units. P/N 1157-PCB-R36 Red Led Lamp, narrow beam, $9.95 each. On my 89, I am going to try to mount them INSIDE, the Center Reflector section, just to the left and right of the Rear Turn Signals. I will wire, Both Sections of the new 1157, To the Brake Lights. This will give me 2extra brake lights, they should be Bright. I'm not sure yet if this will work, but will give it a try. I allready put LED 1157 Replacement bulbs in the OEM Tail light, They seem to work OK, I got those bulbs at local Shucks auto parts. All this if anybody is interested, otherwise have a Beer !!
8. Found some kickass Billet LED frames that fit our bikes! LEDs are very bright and all the wiring is inside the frame. No wiring mess on back of frame. Check it out: http://lh5.ggpht.com/arizonakober/SAJYMEwm7lI/AAAAAAAAEQ8/cTkI9VwyluU/s400/Billetboysonayamaha.jpg http://lh3.ggpht.com/arizonakober/SAJYMkwm7mI/AAAAAAAAERI/JuOTd_Ha420/s400/Billetboysonayamaha2.jpg
9. Hey all just installed my Genesis LED Brakelight/taillight, WOW what a difference!! It sure is ashame yamaha can't make this part of their standard equipment package. Anyway talk about being noticed! This thing is BRIGHT!! Recommend to anyone who rides. Got it at Custom Dynamics and they were super to work with ! Have a GREAT DAY!! Be Safe!! Brian D.
10. I am looking at getting this tail light Item: GEN32-1157 http://www.customdynamics.com/Images/vstar_genesis_small.jpgfrom h ttp://www.customdynamics.com/Yamaha_tail_retro.htm and these turn signal http://www.customdynamics.com/Images/genesis_flat.jpg And these for running lights http://www.customdynamics.com/Images/3FunctionSmFINAL.gif Is anyone using those and do I need a load equalizer to run all that gear? Thanks in advance
11. Where can i find the price of a LED tail light. I have a chance to buy one at a discount price, wanted to check to se if it is a good price. John
12. Greetings: Anyone got any daylight pictures of their bike with the Diamond R 15" Slimline LED Lightbar mounted on it. Diamond R only has pics at night. Thanks
13. While the bike is apart this winter I want to upgrade the flasher to a modern flasher that can handle LED lights. I see that the flasher needed is a 3 wire type but I'm confused as to how the canceller works. What signal does the canceller send to the flasher? does it send it a +12V when it wants to cancel the flasher? does it ground it? I have the wiring diagram but it does not explain how the flasher system works at all. I'm trying to figure out what kind of flasher to buy that will go in place and support LED turn signals and still retain the bikes functionality. What speed does the flasher cancel trigger? How to I make it more reliable as it sometimes does not cancel and sometimes it does. Thanks!
14. I just got 8 LED accent lights for the bike, i got orange ones and think they will dress it up quite a bit at night. I am curious to see where everyone has put them on the bike? I was thinking of one in the air dam to glow out the front, two on each side, behind the side motor cover to light up both sides of the motor, one on either side of the rear trunk to show off the paint on the lower trunks, and also one under the fairing to light up the flames on the front fender. Where has anyone else put them on their bikes? Paul
15. I was at the yamaha dealer a few weeks ago and was looking at the stratoliners and I like the rear lights on them, has anyone ever put those on the venture? From looking at them I dont think I would have to modify anything much just wonder how they would plug in I think they are led but not sure.
16. HI all, I've seen sporadic talk in different sections about LED mods. And I've seen that there are plenty of different kits out that can be used very well with both our 1st and 2nd Gen machines. I decided to play around with them looking for a more personal touch and I would like to anyone interested to share ideas with. With the exception of a couple of short neon tubes I will be working with adding presolderded single led's. I just this afternoon received a great big box of "oh wow now what's" so I don't have any projects to show yet. If there is any interest I would be happy to post pics of both good and bad ideas as they roll out. As well as the best sources for single ultra bright led's and supplies. I'm also really interested in hearing about any of your projects either finished or just drawingboard.
17. I just purchased and installed the LED Tail Light for Yamaha Road Star and V-Star. It is made by Radiantz. (I bought mine from Bikerhiway.com. I recommend them. They had this to me in 2.5 days and that was normal low price shipping via USPS.) http://www.bikerhiway.com/led-tail-light-for-yamaha-road-star-and-vstar-p-176.html I first saw this on Norm's bike while following Norm and Kim on a ride in bright daylight at Pork in the Pines. I kept noticing his LED tail/brake lights. They are real bright LED's. I was amazed by brightness and I decided to buy one after he told me it only cost $53. I put mine on this evening using the stock red plastic taillight lens and it is very bright. Much brighter than the plain old 1157 light bulb. I won't even bother buying a clear lens. It also includes 3 bright white LED's to light up your license plate. For those that want to brighten up the back end of your bike this will do it at a bargain price. I also just installed the Back-Off XP module (from CruiserCustomizing) before going to Pork in the Pines and this LED board works great with that module. When hitting the brakes the LED board flashes quickly and brightly.
18. I have to give praise when deserved. Norm from Montana turned me on to these people. http://www.bikerhiway.com/ I just purchased and installed the LED Tail Light for Yamaha Road Star and V-Star from them. I placed the order Sunday evening via their website. Early Monday morning I had an email from them saying it had already shipped. When I got home today (Wednesday) the package was sitting on my desk. It took them 2.5 days to ship me the LED tail lights. Very cool!!! Oh and these LED tail light bulb replacement board is super bright!!! Read my review here.
19. A buddy of mine has a Honda Cruiser and wanted some different front signal lights. He bought some that are made for a Harley. They are not LED. Now his signal lights flash very fast. Anyone know how to fix this problem?
20. The one part of my Venture that I have always disliked is the look of the taillamp. To me it looks like a holdover from a '70's bike... kinda like the cassette! LoL I also have an '06 Road Star. The factory lamp on the Road Star is an LED with a clear look. Nothing red until you hit the brake. My question... has anyone ever attempted to fit a Road Star lamp to the Venture?
21. Ever since I picked-up my Venture last year, I always had this feeling that it needed a a little touch of something to break-up all those big black areas just a bit. So, during our trip to STAR Days in Arkansas this summer we had Sue Hopper (http://www.signsandwondersbysue.com/motorcycles.php) apply a little bit of her artistic magic. Those who are familiar with Sue's work, know that she could have painted just about anything one could imagine. However, I just wanted something subtle and somewhat original. My inspiration for the requested artwork came from a simple Pilot P-500 pen. It has a bluish-black marbled look to it - kind of like clouds against a midnight sky. So, I showed the pen to Sue and she said that she could replicate that design. So, the goal was to air-brush wispy sort-of com-trails (like what you see come off jets) on the fairing, the lower part of the tank, the lids of the hard-bags, the lid of the trunk and then our names printed on the rear of the trunk lid. We're pretty proud of how it looks. Then a few weeks ago, I began to think about installing a little accent lighting. I didn’t want anything which appeared too extreme, but something which was subtle and attractive. I have always liked the look of midnight-blue, and since it was complimentary to the new touches of paint, the lighting color was an easy choice. The lights I picked-up at a Pep Boy's Auto Supply. I used two different types of LED light configurations on this project. One kind, were little strips of LEDs with an adhesive backing that came in lengths of 5", 10", and 15". The other styles of LED lights were little oval-shaped pods consisting of multiple LED bulbs in a cluster. The pods were about the size of a quarter. All of these LED lights are surprisingly tiny and bright. Total cost of the lights itself was only about $120. Unfortunately, I cannot offer much information on the technical side of the install process because I had someone else (who knows what they are doing) do the work for me. The price he charged me was so reasonable, he told me not to tell anyone one what it cost me - because he won't do it again for that price. But, I was happy with it! All of the accent lighting is hard-wired to the main system and can be flipped-on with a little toggle switch which is hidden behind the seat. It can also be switched-on without the key in the ignition. Keep in mind that almost all states prohibit the use of any blue lights on a vehicle which is in operation. This means that I will only turn-on the accent lighting when the bike is parked. Cops are pretty serious about this law because blue lights are reserved exclusively for law enforcement in most states. Probably the most unique feature of this lighting project is the way I managed to light-up the windshield. But first, I owe credit for this idea to Bryan (Penguin from STAR Chap. #152 in SLC, UT). I totally stole this idea from him. Sorry Brian, but, it does look really cool! Anyway, his theory was that the windshield would have fiber-optic type of properties if properly lit. So, I experimented by placing one of those tiny LED strip-lights at the base of the windshield, inside the fairing and pointing up. Oh my gosh! (As my teenage daughter always says). The result was even better than I had imagined. With the accent lighting on, the base of the windshield now has a subtle, midnight-bluish glow to it, while all along the edges of the windshield there is an intense glow. My windshield is just a medium-height, Show Chrome brand. I believe that this trick would work with most windshields. So, if you're looking for something non-practical but very decorative to do to your bike, these were a couple of my most recent attempts. Be Safe! Pete & Sandy
22. Hi All, As I posted earlier, I work night shift and as I was comming home from work I was almost rearended by a Ford F250 while I waited for a light to change. It got me to thinking how could I make myself more visible for other drivers. I started to work changing all of my lighting to LED's. I also added some more lights. Because of the electronic flashers the first gens. have, I had to add Load Resistors to the 4 turn signal lights to get them to flash properly. I changed all of the 1157, 1156, and 194 bulbs to LED's and added 2 LED light bars to the rear as well as a blue dot tail light lens. the Load Resistors get really hot so I mounted them on metal brackets to isolate them from the plastic of the bike. I have enclosed pics of the upgrade, If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask. Ride Safe and Bee Seen, Earl and Jean.
23. I have heard/been told that if putting an LED bulb in place of an 1157 style (turn or brake light) use colored bulb with colored lense. Since the turn lenses are clear, will the amber bulbs show very well?
24. As a seasoned professional truck driver, I've seen and welcomed the arrival of LED running and tail lights on our equipment. I immediately noticed that they are much easier to see, even if the lense is dirty. So, I got to wondering if I couldn't swap out some of the running lights on my VR with some of these LED running lights. The only drawback I've seen so far is that the LED truck running lights aren't as stylish as the original equipment, but they ought to be easily more visible. I've got one light mounted, but haven't tested it yet due to fears that I may put too much of a strain on my stator. Have any of you good folks experimented with this? Have you tried replacing this? http://i32.tinypic.com/2vv9ge0.png With this? http://i27.tinypic.com/m8gok2.jpg
25. I have the Venture Line bumper lights on my 87 and i bought some mini wedge LED bulbs #2060-0006 from Drag Specialties $2.95 @. They project less light because of the angle they sit. So i bought new lens because of the color loss and that brighten things up some. LEDs are good if they are used in straight direction.
