1. Its time to do some maintenance on the bike. I broke my leg. I have the valve shim kit, but lost my valve tool. I remember a member who sells the tool, but its not in the list of member classified listings. I'll also be looking to buy a clutch kit. Can anyone here lead me in the right direction? The pain killers are mudddling my brain. I may also need some plastic repair kit.
2. Got a call yesterday afternoon from Uwe at UNB Customs in Denver, NC. My sidecar conversin is ready to pick up on Monday. The used sidecar became a mini nightmare. Originally it was connected to a HD Ultra and Uwe had to order the correct attachment arms. This was four weeks ago. Hannigan sent the wrong kit a week later, and it took another week to get the right kit. Uwe assembled the kit to find out that the attachment clips to the bike were wrong. Another week goes by and the clips come in. Uwe hooks these up and WHAT DO YOU THINK HAPPENS? The bolts on the upper attachment require one left hand thread and one right hand thread, they sent two right hand threaded bolts. But all is right with the world now. Plenty of time this winter to get used to this set up.
3. Hi; Does anyone have an electronic copy of the Voyager RSV Installation Manual? If so, could you send me a copy. I've got a used Voyager kit which came off a HD & need to check over installation before I spend $660 for the hardware & manual from mtcVoyager. In there great wisdom, their support wants me to pay for a copy of the manual, even though I will get a printed copy when I buy the kit in two weeks (when I have the kit money). BTW... anyone have a mounting kit to sell? Anyone? JohnB
4. A friend of mine here in Amarillo is looking for a 83-85 Venture stator cooling kit. If you have one and would be willing to part with it or know where we might find one please let me know. Thanks, Dean
5. Well new to me anyway. I just bought a 1990 Goldwing Trike. I can't believe that after 25 years on Ventures I will be riding something else esp a Goldwing. All is not lost I do still have my 87 VR for 2 wheeling.I pick up the trike on Monday and will bring it down to Spring City and then try and learn how to ride it on the rural roads down here.I hope this old dog is up to learning a few new tricks.I'll post pictures when I get it home. The wing is nice,it is the SE model and has the reverse, and the deluxe sound system and cb radio. It is pearl white with polished aluminum wheels on the back and the PO just put a new timing belt and new rear tires on it.Of course it has cruise control and is already wired for heated clothing, tho the PO's jacket won't fit me.The trike kit is by TriKing out of Florida. They make a very nice kit that is longer then the standard kits and rides lower so the driveline has a level shot to the rear end and an automatic leveling system like many high end cars do.Because of the way it is set up the front end has 2.5 degrees more rake then normal so it steers easier or so the trike people say.Lots of new things to be finding out and a big learning curve both in riding skills and maintenence info.
6. Is it still possible to buy carb. rebuild kits for my '83 VR. If so, where can I order them and what info do I need off the carbs. Thanks in advance for your help.
7. Is there anyone around Louisville,Ky who knows how to syn carbs, and has a carbs syn kit?
8. Anyone knows the where abouts of skydoc_17. I've sent 2 pm's requesting information on the fuse kit and progressive springs but no answer.
9. Is there still a shim kit floating around? I have a 2001 RSV with 25K, it's time for the valves to be adjusted. Can anyone help me out? Is the 2nd gen tool in there too? Send me a PM. Thanks everyone.
10. Thinking about installing a Voyager Kit on a '91 Venture Royale. I can ride the bike just fine, but since I tip the scales at 150# soaking wet after a good meal, I have some trouble when the GF (who just happens to out weigh me a tad....) is aboard. My riding buddy has a Voyager Kit on his RS TD because he has bad legs, and he loves it. I've done some work on his bike, so I have a good idea of what's there, but I'd like to install the kit myself, so I would really like to know about any "gotchas" there might be. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Y'All ride safe...
11. As a winter project plan to fix the 2nd gear issue on my 84. I've read the how-to articles which are very informative. I read somewhere that Yamaha sells a 2nd gear kit for this repair but can't find the part number. Anyone have it?
12. Converting 08 Royal Star VEnture to trike, is there a whale tail the will fit it? Hannigan kit. Thanks
13. Resiliently bought an 01 rsv for cheep...now know why...the clutch SCREAMS!!!! I have read all the post on clutch baskets I can find. (H' I' G' ect) Found this one off a 1st. gen and the only letter on is a 'C' etched on the gear itself. I have nothing in it so it is probably worth a try. I will compare them closely when I get the one out of bike, waiting on pcw spring kit. Anyone know about the C basket?? thanks, yammer 2k1
14. Picked up my 08 RSV today and with a 140 mile ride home I had time to make a mental list of things I need to do. First, I need the handlebars closer. too much of a reach so the old back lets me know it. Riser a possibility or different handlebars? Second, need to lower it also so i guess barons kit will be in the mix. Third, The old butt burn after bout an hour. What seat mods are available? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
15. Well, so much for getting the 08 triked.... Ordered it in January, paid deposit and shipped side case(colormatch) to Hannigan in February, took bike to dealer in Florida 3 March, kitwas SUPPOSED to ship from Kentucky 8 March, called dealer to check on progress yesterday (3/16), and he told me the factory in KY had burned down along with my kit and sidecase. Could be months before the factory is up and running and can punch out another RSV kit. To add to the misfortune, I had stripped some of the addons from the rear of the bike that wouldn't be used on the trike and I had to trailer it to the dealer because it had recently picked up a screw in the rear tire. Sooo, 'To Trike or Not to Trike, That is the Question'. Okay, not quite Shakespeare.. Either way, The situation inhales with a vacum like force..
16. :fingers-crossed-emoI went on a 200 mile first ride after replacing all the bushings in the swing arm and replacing the rear shock. IN my 83 xvz12 all went well. I then went out on sat to the local coffee hang out, and the rear calaper hung up. So I went to the local Yamaha dealer and picked up an "O" ring kit, thats all thats in the calaper rebuld kit. after replacing the "O"rings in the calaper, It still locked up after aprx. 10 miles.:confused24:The calaper attaches to an arm, that appers to have the abilaty to floot, The book is not helping me in replacing the axal and spacers, I think I must have eather put a spacer, or washer in the wrong place, that, or I'm tightining the axal wrong, I need some help,
17. A few of you have had dealings with HID Country. A while ago, about 6 months, I purchased a motorcycle H4 kit and a dual kit for H3 application. The H3 kit was not even close to the size they said it was and would not fit my fog lights so I sent it back. No problem there but there was a part that indicated it was for H4 which I did not return as I thought it was for the MC H4 kit but turned out it wasn't. I have been trying to find out what this part does. It looks like it could be a relay but has two connectors that apparently would hook up to two ballasts. The problem I am having is getting this part identified. I have been corresponding with Mike without success. He does not seem to know what parts my order included. He has not been very responsive, wait for a reply for a few days or a week then send a query through the site to support and perhaps get a response. Anyway, it getting a bit frustrating. The only other person I have corresponded with is Jason who appears to be their technical person. What I would like to know is if anyone has an email address for Jason? Attached are two pix of the part I am trying to ID. It would be helpful f anyone knows what that part does. In any case, I would like to contact Jason directly if I can find his address.
18. Hi all just wanted to find out how much weight did the bike pick up with the trike kit on 150, 250 lbs more ?
19. Have a 2001 RSV with 85,000 miles on it. Am going to replace the friction plates and spring in it as I am getting a little slippage when cranking down on throttle in 4th and 5th. My question is, there are 2 disc behind the clutch basket secured behind a wire retainer, the Barrett kit I bought does not include these, do you think they should be replaced and if so how are they ordered. Also should I go with the more expensive spring conversion kit, or just remain with a new diaphram type. The whine I have learned to live with, so I dont think the price of a new basket justifices the (Maybe) reducing the whine. Thanks, any help appericated.
20. Hey, has anyone been able to import/ export a triked bike into Canada? What if it is broken down into parts? ( Re kit? ) Age exemption? Any way? Just asking! H.
21. Amazing! I've owned this bike for two years, and just discovered where Yamaha hides the tool kit....
22. I still have the original OEM tool kit in my 1990, but there are some empty pockets for sockets in the pouch. Can anyone inventory a COMPLETE, unadulterated First generation 1986-1993 tool kit and tell me what is supposed to be in there?
23. Anybody got a idea what a shim kit with three shims of each size would be worth??
24. I've had my Voyager Kit for a while now (got it the week before Rolling Thunder), and we love it. When we bought the kit we did not order lights because I don't care for the stock Harley lights they use. My friend has a Voyager kit with lights on his RSTD, and because the sun washes them out, they are useless. What I'm looking for are lights that I can mount on the fenders, but I don't want to do a lot of sheet metal work. Drilling a couple of small holes is fine, but I don't want to have to perform major surgery. I would like to use LEDs, but I'm not opposed to incandescents..... Any input will be greatly appreciated... BTW: I've looked on Super Brite LEDs dot com, and their lights require cutting major holes in the fenders...... Thanks.
25. Who has this trike kit? how do you like it? any problems with handling? steering?drive train? fit and finish? I am looking at a 99 RSV with this kit. Any info would be very helpful.
