  1. I'm looking at a 2006 RSV...the dealer said it has the "optional" stereo kit installed. What is it that's not "standard"? Also, from the front there are 2 small lights (besides the headlight). Are those driving lights that actually do something for you or are they just the yellow lights that don't do much?
  2. It appears that I need a carb rebuild kit according to the shop I took my bike to. They said it will cost $250 + shipping. Any idea if this price sounds right, and what source/vendor would you buy it from if you are a do it yourself mechanic?
  3. Got the Barons SubSonic tach in today and I figured that since I have to take the tank off to install the tach, that I might as well install some mood lights while I am at it. I am considering the Custom Dynamics Standard CD LED Accent Kit. It is $114 for the kit. Is this a good price or should I be looking elsewhere. I plan to put the blue lights on my Midnight RSV, just because I love the look that Boomer has on his bike.
  4. I just ordered a venture dad hitch. Roy said to use a standard boat trailer 5 pin flat rubber connector wiring kit that you can get from most auto parts stores. A friend of mine has a trailer he pulls with his goldwing and said I can use it anytime to get the feel of pulling a trailer before I buy one. I thought this is great. My wife and I are going on a trip next week so this will be a good time to pull a trailer. But my friend says he has a 4 pin connector with a 5th wire added. I also saw on a thread this morning on the hopkins hoppy trailer kit which it says is a 4-way flat connector. What should I do to wire my venture for a trailer. I am confused, however it doesn't take much to confuse me. Thanks.
  5. Hi all. i was wondering if there is an availible jet kit for this bike? I have bub slip-ons (it made a little more power) and when i pulled off the air boxes, the bike ran like poo (too lean). I'm hoping to put on 4 individual K&N filters and it will definatly need more aggressive needles and bigger mains. Is there a kit availible for this bike? The stock intake system is pretty restrictive so i'm hoping this will wake the motor up a little. Thanks, James
  6. Is there a carb rebuld kit for the 2nd Gen? Looking like it might be nice to clean up the carbs and replace the gaskets/O-rings. Would like a kit so I don't forget anything. RR
  7. The Bike is running horribly again. I can't seem to keep it consistant. The Idle wanders, ocasionaly I lose power during roll-ons and it is using waaayyy more gas than it should. I think its time to do the carbs. The instructions in Tech are great so I don't think I need help there. My problem is I can't find a kit on-line. I don't want to go to my local dealer because they are SSSLLLOOOOWWWW with regard to ordering parts. I've been to both DGY and Flatout, they don't appear to sell a kit, just individual parts. Having never done this before, I have no idea what parts are needed, nice to have, or a complete waste of money. If no kits are available, how about a list of parts? Might be a nice addition to the tech article. DGY and Flatout appear to use the same indexing system and numbers. Thanks guys!
  8. I’ve got a problem. I put the barons lowering kit on a couple of months ago and it has worked fine. The problem is that I had the back tire changed the other day and I experience a rubbing noise when I back up. It is really loud. It does not happen when going forward. It appears to be coming from the brake. I can’t tell if everything was put back on in the correct order. I cannot find my instructions. I need help because everything needs to go in a certain order and I can’t remember how it goes. Can anyone send me the instructions? Thanks Everette
  9. While on a recent tour of the northern United States I experienced a problem that made me think it is time for a carb overhaul or re-build. I have a 1990 VR with 82K miles on it. The question I have is: Is there a carburetor rebuild kit available for these carbs ? If so, where ? This would be a kit containing gaskets, needles, seats, etc. I see some good data on the tech bulletin board about rebuilding the carbs but no mention of where to get parts or if a kit is available. Thanks for the help Red Baron
  10. The part number is 46255. It seems ready made and cheap. I thought about using it so I could get a trailer.
  11. ok I've been looking around for a conversion kit. I've determined that my carbs need rebuilding badly and a buddy told me they make an adapter kit for the V-Max to replace the stock carbs with the holly four barrel. its primarily used when supercharging the v-max but i dont want to supercharge my venture just be able to maintain 65 mph on the interstate. has anyone seen a place that sells a holly or eddlebrock kit for the V4? Or does anyone know a good place to find a carb kit for the ventures?
  12. http://www.oldbikebarn.com/part.php?id=694&subcategory=Gasket%20Sets&bike=XVZ12&DisplayPerPage=20 Looks like all the gaskets.
  13. My bike was missing the tool kit. Anyone have pictures of one? If you haven't seen it before....check out this checklist making site. http://www.micapeak.com/checklists/
  14. Just got a XM Delphi MYFI for Marilyn for sweethearts day. Complete kit including home kit, auto kit, and other stuff. This is a portable unit that she can use like a walkman as well. I will replace her MP3 player as she drives on her bike at least until I can afford the cb system. Total cost after rebates...not including tax...149. bucks Canadian! Good deal...they are close to 350 normally here. Whadya all think!
  15. :sign **** happens: Any one have a long haul first gen specific toolkit that has proved to be adequate over the years and I dont need to pull a trailer for? Have the original factory kit but wish to supplement. Anyone filled a tire from an engine cylinder after plugging, or what works best? Canned air maybe? Any new multi purpose tools, gadgets carried for the dreaded event? Any specific electrical items other than the standard spare wire, connectors, tape, maybe multi meter etc carried? I know, I know I worry too much! Just humor me please.
  16. I am getting ready to get an RSV, when I do I am planning on changing the pipes to Bub's sleeper slip ons. When I did my Vstar V1100, I also changed out the air kit to a Baron's Big Air kit. Is that recommend for the RSV as well? Or is there a need to? I know that when I did my Vstar they told me that my performance would increase by 17%..which it did. But they also told me that I could lose some gase mileage. In fact my gas milage increased. We just came off of a long run and I was averaging 49 mpg. I guess my main question is wether or not you should change out the air kit as well.
  17. Hey folks, does anyone know of a kit that turns your rear turn signals into a combination tail light/turn signal? I own a '06 RSV. I have a friend who bought such a kit from HD, and it really looks great. T/Y!!
  18. Connecting the Front Air Forks on the Second Generation Venture Here is a link to this kit at Dennis Kirk. http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_catalog/Product.jsp;jsessionid=VFN5LLHK4G5JLLA0WTVSM4VMDK0NCIV0?store=Main&skuId=58318 One of the least expensive but best modifications I have made to my '99 Royal Star Venture was the addition of this "Air Fork Balance Kit". As those of you who own the new Venture know, the front forks are separate and the maximum air pressure is 7 psi. It is very difficult to get the pressure equal and that is where this kit comes in handy. The kit is made by Progressive Suspension and is available from Dennis Kirk. The part number is 58318 and the price is $23.99. You can order it by calling Dennis Kirk at 1-800-328-9280 and using the part number listed. Installation is simple and requires only about 15 minutes. You simply remove the valve stem cores from the existing valves, screw these two caps onto the existing valve stems, connect them with the included tubing and you are done. http://www.venturerider.org/frontbalance/airbalance_files/MVC-001F.jpe Right Side. Look closely and you can see where the connecting tube hooks to the small nylon nipple. http://www.venturerider.org/frontbalance/airbalance_files/MVC-002F.jpe Right Side Again. http://www.venturerider.org/frontbalance/airbalance_files/MVC-003F.jpe and again............ http://www.venturerider.org/frontbalance/airbalance_files/MVC-004F.jpe Left side. Again, you can see the tube which connects to the right side. I ran it behind the rubber handlebar dampers so you don't really see it unless you are really looking. http://www.venturerider.org/frontbalance/airbalance_files/MVC-005F.jpe This is what you see from the drivers seat. Here are the simple instructions for installation. http://www.venturerider.org/frontbalance/airbalance_files/afbk_diag.gif
