  1. I am going to get this '87 venture on the road this spring. On the instrement cluster top center is a red light that is blinking when I turn the key on and all the time it is running. What is this and what should I do about it? Thanks D
  2. Went out to my bike after work to head home. Put key in ignition, turned it on and stated the bike. The bike turned over 3 or 4 times and then just stopped. Indications are NO POWER ANYWHERE. No speedo, no lights, no aux, no radio, no nothing. Turned key off and on, removed key and reinserted and still nothing. I checked the fuses in the left side panel and the ones up under the right side lower faring all were good. Batt voltage is 12.75vdc. I am 50 miles away from home so any ideas as to where to look would be great. Thanks in advance.
  3. Went to take the bike to work today and it wouldn't start,, battery seemed weak. This is the second time it has happend.. Bike is just a year old last week and completely stock. First time it had sat unused for a month, and when I went to start it the radio had been turned off so I was not 100% sure I had turned the key all the way off. I charged the battery and it was fine for a few weeks. On the 13th I did a 150 mile ride and put it back in the garage, hadn't had a chance to ride since (but that is only 11 days) and today it wouldn't start. The key was definitely off. I will get to it tomorrow and check the fluid level, connections and voltage, charge it, and check the voltage running, to make sure it is charging OK. Anything else to look for?
  4. This from a FJR site, the Royal Star Venture was included. Key blanks: Ilco ym63 Tayler X 248 Curtis yn 63 Silca yh35r I HAVEN'T TRIED THESE, but if you need a extra, you can give one of these a try and report back
  5. Hello Guys and Girls, I need some help. I lost my key to my 88 YVR. I was told there is a key code on the ign switch and I heard the removal of the switch is quite a project. What I want to know is my rear luggage trunk is unlocked, can I remove the lock from that and have a key made? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Coachcoby (John Coburn)
  6. The wife is now riding with me and complains she has no place to lock her helmet. I could use a helmet lock with out key I have a locksmith that Will re key for $7.50. If you have one you can part with let me know. Allen thank you so very much for the end caps!!! Dale 83V-STd.
  7. Hello All, Iam getting my carbs in shape on my '87. In the process of cleaning, testing etc., I wanted to make sure the floats and needles seem to be working right so I took each carb, put it in a shallow tub and hooked it up to the fuel pump on the bike, with the float bowl cover off, to see that the float would, in fact, float an shut fuel off. OK, I assumed the the fuel pump would just pump, and pump until the float shut the fuel off. Is there any reason why I would have to turn the key off, and then turn it on again to get the pump to pump a little more. It will pump for about 5 seconds and then turn off, until I turn the key off and then turn it on again. If this is a normal function, maybe a safety feature since the bike is not running or something than all and well, but if there is a problem with the fuel pump, or something, I just wan to know.   8. With the CLASS (air suspension) system on my 88 VR, I have been having some problems. They are: - Sometimes no power going to it and nothing happens. (Yes the Red/Blue wire haw power with the key in the ACC position) - Sometimes I get an E4 code - When it does finally work, I can pressurize the front and rear with the key switch in ACC. However when I turn the key from ACC to ON (or to OFF), I can hear air pressure released behind the seat when the key is put back in the ACC position. When I check the pressures, the rear pressure is where I set it but the front pressure reads zero (and from the ride, it is really at zero) What seems to make it go between these three modes is when I disconnect/reconnect the connector on the backside of at the control panel (right side of fairing) or wiggle the same connector a bit. Also, I just change the front fork seals and dust covers and didn't even touch the electronics or the mechnicals (pump, drier, valves, solenoids) for the CLASS system. Before I start taking things apart, does anyone have any quick and dirty ideas? I'm thinking there is a loose connector on the board and I may have a solenoid in the back that is sticking -- but I'm really new to the Venture and I'm just guessing at this point.
