First I would like to thank everyone for taking the time to share their ideas and experiences. I am a new (to me) 08 RSTD owner. I have read with great enthusiasm the many posts about engine oil here. My question is: Are the different engine oils talked about here assumed to be motorcycle oil, or regular engine oil? For that matter, what IS the difference between motorcycle and engine oil (other than about $4.00 a quart)? Thanks again for having such a great place to share ideas and gain information. Nico

The question about how to get the bike on the center stand got me to thinking about another question. I can get my bike on the center stand with no problems at all basically using the same technique described in that thread. What I have a hard time with is getting the bike off of the center stand. Anybody got any ideas on this? Also remember I'm barely 5'6" so sitting on the seat and pushing the bike off of the center stand is out of the question.

Just bought my first bike-1999 Royal Star Venture. I am about 6'6" tall. When sitting in the seat it tends to push you forward toward the fuel tank. Any ideas or any particular after market seat you guys have had experience with that might help with this problem?

Thought Id start a post that we could share some of our ideas for losing those xtra pounds. Honey-Ive started using honey whenever I can, the body can break it down better and is actually better for you then white sugar. A lil honey in my coffee and it tastes better to me now then the sugar. Honey is purely natural and good for you, with a long list of benifets. Breads are bad! But if ya love breads try Slimwiches, There a lil thinner and may take getting used to but well worth the change- 100 calories for 2 peices. Fiber! - this is a big one too-- Fiber will actually promote weight loss AND is a appitite suppresant, great fibers Ive put into my diet-- Chili's (beans), fiber 1 cereal (love it) etc My hardest time is in the evening so I eat popcorn which isnt too bad and if cravings get bad Ill have a slimwhich with peanut butter and a lil honey, hmm it is like a treat to me. I wore my leather vest to a friends this weekend and it was nice to take the snap chains off and be able to actually snap the front. Please add your tricks or ideas, anything to make it easier is a big bonas in my opinoin-- And good luck !!!

I was wondering if anyone installed heated grips for the passenger on the grab bars? is there any way of adding such a thing? when my wife and I ride colder days her hands get really cold and she ends up riding with snowmobile mittens, this eliminates her ability to grab anything. I figured that if I could give her a heated grip that would solve a lot of issues. Any ideas?

When I 1st got it, I could see icons for restaurants, gas stations, etc...on the map while I was driving. When I called Garmin on my issue, they had me to a hard reset so now all that is gone. Any ideas on how to get them back? Looked at the manual and doesn't seem to help. Thanks.

I'm thinking about buying a wrecked Venture to fix up and try to make a few bucks. My son can purchase bikes through Coparts so I might have bid on the one in the link I will post. I will have some cost with shipping to Iowa and auction cost. Give me some ideas on what you think would be a fair bid on this bike. If someone on this forum is bidding on the bike I won't pursue it. http://www.copart.com/c2/homeSearch.html?_eventId=getLot&execution=e1s3&lotId=17766739&returnPage=SEARCH_RESULTS

We LOVE our new Venture, but it seems to me unless you're into the throttle, it will bog down a little when you do roll into the throttle. Sounds alot like the choke is staying on when it is disengaged, or something. Any ideas out there, or would this be a warranty issue??? It only has 1700 miles on it, less than a month old!!

Hey guys, Blonde has a hick up. She cuts off right after I start her up in the morning when I put her in gear. The kick stand indicator is not on the display which whenever she has trash in the switch the indicator would show the stand down even when it was not. After a few minutes of idle and picking around she will suddenly go in gear and work fine. Now once I get her on the road she might for a split second or two have a complete power loss but then be fine the rest of the ride. Any ideas what it may be? She just started this last week but seems to be getting worse. At first it was just a hick-up power loss for a fraction of a second and then ran fine. Im pulling what few hairs are left on my head out. Any ideas? She is a 1987 Venture Royale. Thanks

Hi all. Just installed the Chrome Glow turn signal lights last week and they work/look great so I ordered the tail light. Installed it tonight and it looks great. So here is the problem. I tighten down the lens cover to finish up and then turned the key thats when I had no lights and the horn is blowing. What gives?? I then took out the LED and put back the stock bulb..samething! I have a trip planed to Vermont this weekend and it would be a long trip with out lights and listening to the horn(LOL) Any Ideas??? Thanks. Bill

No 1 was running very badly the last few times I took her out so pulled the air cleaner off and chacked things out. the piston on #3 carb was not moving at all. after I opened things up I found the piston was apart. Should it come apart like this or should it be just one assembly Has this ever happened to anybody else Any ideas on how to glue it back together short of buying a new one

K just searched tech section on electrical shorts and says read only- guess I need to ask here. Went to start bike after sitting for 2 weeks and I got nothin, no lights - no power of any kind and no radio. I saw in tech support about the ignition and wire connection burning up and shorting out so I pulled tank off and checked it. Looks fine, also noticed that all that had a ignition problem that their radio still worked. So am wondering if anyone has any ideas before I start removing ignition- Ive looked around for any obvious melted wire connections and no luck so far. gonna do a more thurall search before changing the ignition tho. And yes the battery is fully charged hehe Thanx for any help or ideas
