  1. I am looking for the part number for the air hose from the crankcase to the breather box, which would be the larger hose.(back center of box) All diagrams I found only show one hose, which is the smaller one in the frone right corner. Can anyone help:fingers-crossed-emo Oh, I have an 84 VR. thanks
  2. anybody know what the little hose under water pump is for and should it be hooked to anything?? it heads toward the oil filter and just dangles there. another thing is just put on a newn front tire "avon" and now i have the slightest "ticking, zzzzzzz, faint card in the spokes sound, slows down when i do and doesnt change under braking or weaving back and forth. I check bearings when wheell was off and seemed ok and torqued to specs, what the @#$% gives.
  3. Yanno, that one from the pickle thing to the airbox? Mine is hard and somewhat breaking at the top and as you know, it can take 45 minutes at times to get that hose on the bottom of the airbox. So, just order another one from yammi, get hose from AutoZone that is a bit longer or is there another solution?
  4. I found this in the 2nd Gen tech library (although it also applies to 1st Gen's as well): http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=501 As I'm always looking for ways to improve my '99's performance and fuel mileage, I want to give this a try, but I'm still a little confused. The mod calls for a "tee" to be installed if the AIS system has NOT been plugged (mine has not). If someone has done this, please let me know what this is referring to and how it needs to be installed. The rest of the mod seems quite basic - just a 1 1/2" to 2" hose connecting the nipples on each side once the vacuum hose and cap are removed. Don, you weighed in on this back in '06, and I was wondering if you still think this is a beneficial modification to make. Thanks.
  5. I currently ride a 2008 GW. http://www.stopngo.com shows a hose that supposedly connects to the GW compressor for the shocks that allows airing up a flat tire. Any one know anything about this? Where is the connection located? How difficult to make? Seems to me that it would be much nicer to carry one of the hoses rather than a mini-compressor. On the web site select motorcycle, then scroll a little past half way down to see the item. There is a six foot hose and a ten foot hose. Any idea if the six foot one gives plenty of reach for both tires? Thanks for any thoughts. Mel
  6. I have 2008 rsv the carbetator air vent hose on the drivers side has some fluid dripping out from it. is this something that should be covered under warrenty?
  7. have a 2008 rsv with 4500 miles I was removeing the lower left cowling and found some corosion or melting on the back side where the what i belive to be the carborater air vent hose is. some thing ran down the cowling and corodid it. it even melted of the two little tabs on the back any ideas what this was
  8. Mid 90's here in Houston today... summer is here. Pretty warm mowing the lawn but the garden hose felt good while washing the dogs!
  9. Do you know what is that hose next to the battery? My best guess it may be a vent hose for the battery. (See pic)
  10. Where can i get the hard 90 degree hose that comes off of the water pump to the front of the bike. Got a hole in mine. Long story. Thanks Doug
  11. Any tips on how to remove a stuck vacuum hose without damaging it? The rear vacuum hose (on the nipple to sync the carbs) is being really stubborn and doesn't want to come off. I tried rotating the hose on the nipple with a pair of pliers, which usually works to break hoses free, but the pliers started digging into the outside of the hose, and I don't want to damage the hose or put too much force and break off the nipple. I tried pushing it back (hard, which has also worked for me in the past on other vehicles) with a flat screwdriver levered on the fake cooling fins, but it just doesn't want to move. On larger hoses, like radiators, I can slide a thin object in and around the mating surfaces, but there's no room to do that here. I was thinking of trying to let wd40 penetrate for a while, but thought I'd throw it out here to see if there's a simple trick I'm missing. The vacuum cap came right off. Just the hose is being stubborn.
  12. There is a black plastic piece on the outside where it tells you to hook a hose. Supposedly this puts the hose up in the bike somewhere so as to pull the air in. Did you all leave this on and hook the hose up? If so, how does it look? Also looks like you would hit this with your foot and knock it off. I have left it off for now.
  13. I have a 1983 Venture Royale. I believe that I have a stuck float on the front left carburetor. I tried a can of seafoam but no success. When I turn the bike over the fuel runs out a hose that is just below the tank. Anybody have any suggestions. Any help would be appreciated. Cant wait to get back on the Highway.
  14. I forgot to ask you learned mechanics out there.. I did video and photo my work today on the clutch in case I got lost or had to remind myself of something.. and I noticed my clutch hyd line is stuck under the fairing. I have the 2in risers on the bike so that means the fairing doesn't sit against those rubber stops anymore. I had noticed the fairing being closer to the LEFT highway light for some ODD reason and I think I figure out WHY.. When I was in PA and the shop fixed the fuel pump issue, the mech accidently broke something on my audio controller and they took the new one off the 2009 show model and replace the busted one on my bike, requiring the removal and re-installation of the fairing. I'm guessing that in the installation of the fairing, the clutch hose got caught under the fairing on top of that rubber bumper causing the fairing to sit crooked a bit.. not much but enough to be noticed.. And the hose is pinched enough that i can't move it by hand, most likely going to require the fairing to be removed again.. This IS going to sound like one of those stupid questions but is there any way that the clutch control hyd hose being pinched causing any of the previous clutch problems, such as the additional wind pressure pushing down hard enough onto the line to cause a slight dis-engagement of the clutch itself?? Weird but then again, so was that fuel pump snag in PA.. I need to remove the fairing this weekend anyway to chase down a loose wire so I'll now have time to sort out that hose.. reroute it properly.. What have others done to properly support the fairing after installing bigger risers? Thoughts?
  15. I finally found an easy way to get the breather hose from the crankcase back onto the air box. Just reached in and slipped it on! No hassle! Tooks seconds! No 11" pliers! Really! All you have to do is remove the rear subframe and fuel tank and there it is! And no, I haven't been into the beer.......yet.
  16. I have this hose end sticking out of the left hand side of my 88 VR ( California edition. It comes from within the engine's V, and is on off-shoot of a vertical rubber hose. It one of 2 or 3 hoses that come off of it. http://greenagain.smugmug.com/photos/544914635_X9TH3-M.jpg That is my finger pointing back towards where the hose comes from. http://greenagain.smugmug.com/photos/544914681_nnjfC-M.jpg http://greenagain.smugmug.com/photos/544914639_DkuYx-M.jpg
  17. My wife's cousin just bought a beautiful 1st gen Blondie (mkII) and we did a carb sync on it last night. When I went to attach the Carbtune, the vacuum hose rather than attaching directly to the #2 cyl was split and connected to both #1 & #2. On the other side, there was a piece of hose that connected #3 & #4 together. It surprised me a bit? We synced it up and then put it back as we found it. What effect, if any will this set up have on the operation? Should he put it back to stock? Curious! Dave
  18. Friends, I am knew to the forum and as I have looked around I cannot find the answer to the problem that I am having. I drive a 96 Royal Star. I am having a gas leak from a hose that comes down the left side of the bike. It is a hose that comes down right under the choke pull. It goes down into the area between the cylinders and ends at a rectangle bracket. On the other side of this bracket there is nothing, just the hole of the hose that is connected to the hose. This is where the leak is. I figure this should be an easy fix, but looking at the service manual I cannot find what the hose is nor what should be on the other side of the bracket/guide.
  19. Don't think I've seen this anywhere, and inquiring minds want to know. Literature says we have a 6 gallon tank. So I went to the gas station with a short piece of fuel hose and a gas can. When I got there, held the bike vertical and drained the tank from the petcock. Refilled it from the gas pump. 5.5 gallons. Now I (we) know.
  20. hello, im new to post here and am trying to figure out where the hose marked carb on the charcoal canister goes as there is no fittin on the carb for this hose that i can see. The hose routing is marked on a sticker on the tank and does say "to carb". The other two hoses are marked atmosphere and tank and they are hook up already. Just cant find the fitting for the hose that needs to run to the carb. I do have a 1983 VR and it doesn't have the canister so i cant look at to compare. Any help would be great. The bike im working on is a 1985 VR. Thanks Shawn
  21. Hey everyone, I am a first time Venture owner... and just about have this new bike I bought up and running... but I have a simple question... I cannot find where the PCV valve [at least that is what I think it is] hose plugs into... It is the smaller hose that connects to the base of the air box and runs down the front of the engine near the frame rail. A little more than half way down it has what I believe is the PCV valve, and then there is about 12 more inches of tubing. I cannot find where to plug the other end of this end though.... Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for ANY help you can offer - I'm kinda excited to get this thing on the road. Oh, and it's an 84 if that helps...

    rad fit

Are rads from 83-85 interchangeable to a 87 1300? Hose fittings / drain petcock etc.
  23. Well its probably a good thing I am planning a MD soon. This morning I headed down the road and was concerned about the weather and I felt wetness and it was antifreeze on my r leg. It seems I may have a leak somewhere in the front near the radiator as the water/antifreeze hit me calf level down on the right leg only. It was not a lot and I managed to turn around and get back home with no aissues. Funny thing was the water/AF was never even hot on my leg. I guess I will need to take a very good look to see if I can tell where the leak is and hope its a hose and not the radiator. I did not realise it but, this may have happened last friday as I saw a silver substance on the r sid e engine but could not tell where it came from ant though perhaps it was something someone spilled passing by. I had not ridden since then due to work around the house etc. This time when I returned home I noticed the antifreeze seems to turn silver on the engine. Does that souond right??. If anyone has experienced this let me know what you found. I am hoping this is just an upper hose that just decided to let go.. Now time to go back to the drawing and see where those hoses etc are located and how to get to them.
  24. i want to install a koso tach/temp. gauge in a 04 venture. i need to know the id in mm of the radiator hose can anybody help? my bike is in deep storage up here in mn.
  25. I'm replacing all the coolant hoses on my 83. I have scrounged all new hoses from the scrap box at work except the lower hose which has an opening of 1" on one end and 1 1/8 on the other and it's about 3 1/2" long. The Yamaha PN is 26H-12578-00-00 and they want 30.00 for it I know I should just cough up the $30.00 but thats giving in the to the man! Has anyone come up with an automotive option for this like there is for the thermostat? If I come up with one I will post it. Thanks!
