  1. I hit the donate button on the bar above for the second time just now. On the way to work, it started raining. A turning car was stopped in the left lane, and I moved into center lane. I slowed, knowing, just knowing, one of the cars behind the obstructor would pull out. The trailing Lexus did just that when I was within 30'. I hit the airhorn, but they kept coming. At that point, I could either hit the Lexus or go down. I went down, still blaring my horn. I slid 20' or so. I'm unhurt... it was another slow-motion go-down. My bike is unhurt too, thanks to the crash bars. But I am angry at the Lexus, who not only didn't stop to render aid at the accident they caused, but zoomed off at warp speed. That ticks me off. Anyways, as is the custom, I donated $5 to the site following this latest incident. I am grateful for the community here, and this is a small thing to help it survive. If you've had a drop and haven't donated, this is your reminder.
  2. well it finally happened, getting ready to go to work friday morning last second decision to take the car instead of the bike"thank god", about a 1/2 mile outta town doing 55mph he jumped right in front of me, I barely had time to hit the brakes. All i could think of is thank god I wasn't on the bike because it would have been real bad.
  3. So after putting the fairing back together after fixing the wiring to my horn. I went for a ride today and no radio. I thought I checked all my connections while I had things apart but I must have hit the radio connection. So I'll be taking it all back apart tomorrow. I guess there is nothing I can check with out taking the fairing apart.
  4. This is a UK motorcycle vid with some real interesting insights into why bikers arent seen on the road. It shows how they think we can do a couple of things to avoid being hit and be seen much better. BTW SMIDSY is the British term for Sorry Man I Didnt See You when the car does a left turn into a biker. A good friend of mine got hit exactly like this a week ago and has been in a coma until yesterday, he is starting to come around today, but still is in intensive care unit with ruptured speen, broken hip and leg and more..... PLease ride safe!!! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqQBubilSXU]Crash Course - The SMIDSY - YouTube[/ame] Brian
  5. Weather has been really great around here for the past week. So, figured it was time to put the Quenn back on the trailer. Hit the starter, two grunts and she started purring like a kitten. Gotta love that Sea Foam.
  6. Weather Channel says yesterday and last nights storms are the worst outbreak of tornado's for the month of March, and its only 3 days in. Hope everyone made it through ok. We only had one here in Ga, but it was on the ground for a long time. Indiana and Kentucky took hard hits, praying for those hit hard and hoping for no loss of life. This has been a freaky winter, I don't ever remember weather like this.
  7. I have to hit preview for this new thread post. But cannot do any "REPLIES" on other threads?
  8. :whistling:I came off the money yesterday and replaced the original battery that came new in my 04 Silverado. I just realized it had been in there for 8 years and still cranking.Just begining to notice slow turnovers in cold weather so I replaced it. I want to be ready. You never know when one might hit the buy it now button on ebay and have to make a trip somewhere after a good First Gen. Like Baltimore,Florida,Arkansas,North Carolina, Maine, Pittsburg, Michigan etc.
  9. This might be the most absurd reason to go light on a sentence. To "momentarily stop" before taking off is still hit and run, and because she was not drunk. Murder is murder, http://www.bikerspost.com/forum/topics/mom-gets-60-days-for-fatal-hit-run

Well thanks to Don, I've learned how to get on this thing. So if all goes bad blame Don. While not new to bikes and riding I am new to the dresser deal, and so far the wife love the venture! I was born ridding and raceing M X and was a factory rider for bulltaco, so you know how old I am. We have owend allmost every make of bikes in the last 30 yrs. In 02 I bought a V* 11 cust , it was cheep and I wanted a new bike. The plan was to buy a real bike ( as my H D ridding buddies say) the next year or so. Well that was 30k miles ago and the 11 had been cut and choped and hot roded and painted , you know the deal. Now I have a 15 K in a 02 11 V* that I would never part with! So with fixing up the11 to the point it was not a long distance bike we had a chose to make. The wife was rideing a 06 11 V* But we keep eyeballing the dressers out on the road. and starting shoping. We looked at all the bikes and keep comeing back to the venture! So in 07 we bought a 07 bule @ black R S V and have not put less then 500 miles a day on when we hit the road! with over 3K on it the first summer ( picked it up in july and winter hit in nov.) Can't wait for spring. Sorry for rambilg on , but don't worry about reading this fast cuse I type slow! Would like to hook up with outher riders in Idaho Thanks for your time . Thankes Kevin @ Nancy P S we are restoring a 1962 ca72 honda dream that we'e owned for28 yrs. and are looking for parts. Thanks again Kevin
  11. This has happened to me a few times during the past month... Riding along at various speeds, the bike suddenly just dies. There is never any warning, doesn't cough or anything. One second everything is cool and the next it is just not running. Everything electrical (lights, stereo etc.) still functions. After coasting to the side of the road, I can hit the starter and it turns over, but doesn't fire at all. Then I hit the starter a second or third time and it fires right up. Very weird. The bike has just shy of 80,000 miles on it. All suggestions and ideas are very much appreciated. Cheers, Dan
  12. Hello. Not a big nut on my bike but decided to see wat kinda umphhh my 86 Venture Royale 1300cc had the other day in the first few gears. WOW! I hit over 60 mph in second gear in a short time. Im impressed! RR

  15. rod

    Droid

If you have verizon and a Driod be advised they do not cover your phone with insuance. you have to have the extended warrantee and it is still a fight and you will loose. Pay every month for years (I started with Air Touch) The Droid Phone is designed to fail in 2 years. Be warned. Your insurance is no good unless you break it (hit it with a hammer if you have any problems) that is the only thing they cover. Once you try to have it fixed they screw you; again if you have any problem hit it with a hammer, they cover nothing other than that. I hope I have saved some of you some hassle I have had for the last 3 days. Back to a regular phone. Rod
  16. I want to change out my bars on my 07 RSV. I want to bring them back about 1 1/2" - 2". Who has done this and what brand and model number would I use? I bought a set of 1.5" risers off of ebay, nice product, they moved the bars back perfectly except the caps hit the ignition cover at full lock to the point it would crack the cover. So I sent them back and now want to find a longer set of bars. Any info?

  18. Bear just hit right in front of my house. Marine returning to base hit him with his car. Marine is OK and car was towed off to get front repaired. Bear was approx 175 lbs. and was still alive when the Marine pounded on my front door. Immediately called the State Troopers and State Wildlife. Both departments gave me to green light to dispatch the bear if it posed a threat to anyone or tried to get out into traffic. Bear died within 15 minutes dues to major lacerations at his hip. Must leave bear in the front yard until DOT comes to pick him up tomorrow. Here is a link to the Photo Bucket album if anyone wants to view. Did not post pictures here due to the nature of the wounds to the bear. Veiw at your own risk! HERE BEER30
  19. We went for a ride earlier today to meet our son and family for lunch. Decided to take the trike...mistake? About 30 minutes into the ride, I feel something hit my shoulder...a rock? a bug? Whatever it was, it really hurt...I reached up to rub my shoulder and THWACK! hit again! on my finger...then another finger started stinging..OMG!! STINGING!!! A BEE WAS CAUGHT IN MY SHIRT STINGING THE CRAP OUT OF ME!! I am now screaming bloody murder, twisting in the seat, begging Don to pull over, tearing at my shirt to get the bee out...all I can say is...KODAK MOMENT MISSED!!! finally got pulled over (according to Don, you can't just pull over anywhere) and surveyed the damage. Good thing I am not allergic to the dang things but boy did it hurt! Had some swelling but was basically ok. Made it to lunch and then home. What a wonderful Father's Day Don is having...LOLOL
  20. Left the Caltex servo at Batemans Bay 160klms from home for a overnight ride in the pouring rain heading to Tathra anothe 160 klms south with 2 other riders, about 5klms south the RTA has taken out the left hand lane dropped the speed limit to 60klms and painted out the double white lines on a slight corner at the start of their taper. Well the rear hit the paint and i was gone high sided slid throughin over the road into the oncoming lane (thank God none was coming)and hit my head and various other parts of my body on the gaurdrail i was unconsious for a few mins Ambo arrived dont remember to much about the fall but thankfolly the 2 mates and a Dr on his way to work fixed me up.I was in i fair bit of pain and had to endure a 25 min Ambo ride to Moruya for a CT scan, after discharge (Noeline wife )had driven to meet me and as always to take the sore body home.In the hospital i was breathalysed and the Highway cop told me that normally i would have been charged with Neg Driving but on the testimony of the 2 mates and the Dr and he could see what had happened he was going to let me off.As you can imagine the bike took a beating Noeline and Alana(Daughter) went to the NRMA holding yard in the Bay to retreive my gear fron the panniers one bloke said rightoff one said probably repair the thing is parts are fairly rear in Oz as not a lot of XVZ around in wreckers and new body parts would be impossible to obtain. After all i am feeling a bit battered and bruised but im alive to talk about it thankfully.

  23. Left the house 6:00am for work this morning and got about 3/4 mile when a big doe ran out in front of me. I hit her about 50-55 mph.She hit into the fairing and then rolled up onto the saddle bag and back seat.I got lucky and kept the bike up. And as best i can tell didnt get a scratch on the bike..Some blood and alot of hair. She got up and ran into the woods.Put a good scare into me and certainly could have been bad. Thanks Chris:fingers-crossed-emo
  24. Just saw the local news, and there was a venture and another bike that was hit by a pickup. The riders were killed. Does anyone know these people?
  25. Reality has finally set in. My Son leaves Tuesday May 17Th for Ft Benning Ga. He has graduated high School, is turning 18, and leaving for the Army at the same time. I have 2 sons of which both now are out of High School. Both hold Diplomas. Both are turning into 2 of the best young adults I have had an honor in raising. At 18, and 19 yrs old they have been with me full time since they were 1 and 2. For 17 years they have been my everything. Now both are young men on their own. Pride and emptiness have hit me at once. As a Father who has raised his children without a active Mother for 17 years we have bonded in ways that cannot be described. From there first diaper change, to kindergarten graduation, and now onto manhood we have done it together and I could not be any more proud of them then I am right now. Sure gonna be empty round the house for a while.
